The state had 2 consecutive Republican Governors after the civil war, but then there were 27 consecutive Democrats elected governor of Texas.
When people claim Texas “has always been red” they are not familiar with the history of Texas. I also like to note that Sam Houston was the only Independent elected Governor of Texas and Texas elected a women Governor before suffrage was called “Women’s Liberation”. Interestingly, the suffrage movement supported the male Republican candidate over Ma Ferguson because she was a sock puppet for her corrupt, impeached husband. Ma Ferguson served two non-consecutive terms during prohibition and the other female Governor, Ann Richards, was defeated by GWB in a surprising upset in 1994 after serving a single term.
Just leave Abbott alone right now he is slowly being pushed and pressured into giving MAGA what we want.

They have no moral standard and no strict ideological code. I conclude they simply feel that this country and the government in general is THEIRS as in NOT “the people’s” country.
We dress this up with in/out-group notions like “club.” But being a member of a club is very different from being an owner of a country and acting accordingly.
But consider for yourself if you think they act as if they are entitled to do exactly what they are doing because “my right!” or if they are true ideologues.

Not unusual at all for these places to be packed with families and young children eating at tables while there are adults sitting at the bar watching a football game, etc. The point is it is asinine for CoCoCo to expect people to show vaxx papers to do what the vast majority of the country has been doing for months now without masks or the need to show vaxx proof.

If you’ve followed Gov. DeSantis for a while (he was my Rep before he became my Gov.), you can tell he’s getting much more comfortable speaking; in front of crowds and with the media. I’ve always liked him, but he didn’t always speak as confidently as he does now. It’s great to see.
I remember in 2014 or so thinking Scott Walker might be a good Pres. candidate based on what he accomplished in blue WI. Then in the first debate, it was obvious he wasn’t ready for primetime. I don’t think DeSantis will have that problem.

And reporters tell us stories about how Joe Biden’s ancestors worked in the coal mines (untrue), and that Joe Biden was a long-haul trucker (untrue), and a civil-rights activist (which he later denied), graduated top of his class with three degrees (which was debunked), and was a lifeguard who fought some guy named Corn Pop. And reporters repeated that Joe Biden was arrested in Africa trying to visit Nelson Mandela in jail (WTH?, debunked by the man traveling with him to which he added, no US congressman was ever arrested in Africa). And we were told Joe Biden frequently visited a Jewish synagogue (which the synagogue denied). And now he’s the most frequent train traveler ever, tallying up 2 million miles! He and Hillary should get together and write a Book of Whoppers!
Oh, and now the photographer who took the photos of border patrol agents on horseback said he saw no one being whipped as they ran – those are reins we see in the photos which the Biden administration approved. The reins are attached to the horse’s bits to steer them. In the photo the border patrol agent’s hands on the man’s clothing, no whip is in his hand at all. The rein is hanging down from the horse’s neck – no one was whipped. Reporters told us what to see in those photos and that was untrue too!
That’s why it’s pointless to tune in to any of it. It’s all just manufactured garbage and drama.
But, many still do and sadly, being and staying uninformed is their own faults.
“F. Joe Biden!” is a well deserved jab at Creepy Uncle Joe. “Let’s go Branden!” is a well deserved jab at liberalism as a whole; and, it will continue to resonate long after they have been defeated.

My nephew works for a contractor to USArmy in Huntsville AL.
They forced a deadline last week and made everyone get vaccinated only to withdraw the mandate this week.
While he waited for his ccx shot there was one nurse in the clinic being abusive to the “antivaxers”.
He had prepared by asking his personal doc who said take 2 aspirin twice a day for a week then get the J&J.
When he sat down in the chair to take the jab the nurse giving asked “Had your aspirin” and he replied Yep.
