Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name. Thy kingdom come. THY WILL BE DONE, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but DELIVER US FROM EVIL.
For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever and ever. Amen †

NATIONAL CANDY CORN DAY
On October 30th, the country celebrates its favorite vegetable with National Candy Corn Day.
In the late 1800s, George Renninger of Wunderle Candy Company created candy corn. His sweet treat represented the bright colors of corn kernels. Originally, candy corn was yellow, orange and white. However, it wasn’t until1889 that the Goelitz Candy Company made the candy popular. Later, other candy makers developed a variety of popular colors and flavors as well.
The original confection was made by hand using corn syrup, sugar, water, marshmallows, fondant, and carnauba wax (a wax made from the leaves of a palm tree). However, modern candy makers combine the original ingredients using machines.

Candy Corn Pizza? I’m going to have to pass.
“Chicken Feed” was an early label name for it.
Good advice. 😉

Thinking of “today”, thinking of “now”:
2 Cor. 6:2 (cf. Isaiah 49:8)
“For He says: “In the acceptable time I listened to you, and in the day of salvation I helped you.” Behold, now is the time of favor; behold, now is the day of salvation.
Isaiah 55:6-7
“Seek the LORD while He may be found; call upon Him while He is near. Let the wicked forsake their ways and the unrighteous their thoughts. Let them turn to the LORD, and He will have mercy on them, and to our God, for He will abundantly pardon.”
Hebrews 3:15a (cf. Psalms 95:7-8)
“As it has been said: “If today you hear His voice, harden not your hearts…”
Revelation 22:17 (cf. Isaiah 55:1)
“The Spirit and the bride say, “Come!” Let the one who hears say, “Come!” And let the one who is thirsty come, and the one who desires the water of life drink freely.”
—
Thinking of why:
Romans 6:23
“For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
John 3:16
“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”
Romans 5:8
“But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”
John 5:24
“Truly, truly, I tell you, whoever hears My word and believes Him who sent Me has eternal life and will not come under judgment. Indeed, he has crossed over from death to life.”
—
Thinking of how:
Luke 18:13
“And the tax collector, standing afar off, would not so much as raise his eyes to heaven, but beat his chest, saying, ‘God, be merciful to me a sinner!’”
James 4:8a
“Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you.”
John 6:28-29
“Therefore they said to Him, “What must we do, that we may be doing the works of God?” Jesus answered and said to them, “This is the work of God, that you should believe in Him whom He has sent.””
Mark 9:24b
“‘Lord, I believe; help my unbelief.'”
Acts 16:30-31
“Then he brought them out and asked, “Sirs, what must I do to be saved?” They replied, “Believe in the Lord Jesus and you will be saved, you and your household.””

Fall leaves fun!!!!
Complete and total joy!
This version of ‘A Mighty Fortress’ is slightly different from the one most people are used to. The words and music are closer to the original than the setting by JS Bach, which is more often heard.
A mighty fortress is our God, a trusty shield and weapon;
He helps us free from every need that hath us now o’ertaken.
The old evil foe now means deadly woe;
Deep guile and great might are his dread arms in fight;
On earth is not his equal.
With might of ours can naught be done, soon were our loss effected;
But for us fights the valiant One, Whom God Himself elected.
Ask ye Who is this? Jesus Christ it is.
Of Sabaoth Lord, and there’s no other God;
He holds the field forever.
Though devils all the world should fill, all eager to devour us,
We tremble not, we fear no ill; they shall not overpower us.
This world’s prince may still scowl fierce as he will;
He can harm us none. He’s judged; the deed is done;
One little word can fell him.
The Word they still shall let remain, nor any thinks have for it;
He’s on our side upon the plain with His good gifts and Spirit.
And take they our life, goods, fame, child, and wife,
Though these all be gone our vict’ry has been won;
The Kingdom ours remaineth.
Such anointed lyrics.
Thanks much. I wonder what the original music was when Luther wrote it.
I read Luthers book…The Bondage of the Will.
Excellent. He was brutal in his sarcasm and in his protection of truth. His steel trap mind and love for Scripture puts him somewhere my top 200 list of people I can hardly wait to meet in heaven.
I’m 62. Won’t be long now.
James 4:14 ESV ?
ESV ?
. . . but deliver us from the Evil One.
Amen ?

FAITH
“Without faith it is impossible to please Him.” Heb. xi. 6
Faith in antagonism to common sense is fanaticism, and common sense in antagonism to faith is rationalism. The life of faith brings the two into a right relation. Common sense is not faith, and faith is not common sense; they stand in the relation of the natural and the spiritual; of impulse and inspiration. Nothing Jesus Christ ever said is common sense, it is revelation sense, and it reaches the shores where common sense fails. Faith must be tried before the reality of faith is actual. “We know that all things work together for good,” then no matter what happens, the alchemy of God’s providence transfigures the ideal faith into actual reality. Faith always works on the personal line, the whole purpose of God being to see that the ideal faith is made real in His children.
For every detail of the common-sense life, there is a revelation fact of God whereby we can prove in practical experience what we believe God to be. Faith is a tremendously active principle which always puts Jesus Christ first – Lord, Thou hast said so and so (e.g., Matthew vi. 33), it looks mad, but I am going to venture on Thy word. To turn head faith into a personal possession is a fight ALWAYS, not sometimes. God brings us into circumstances in order to educate our faith, because the nature of faith is to make its object real. Until we know Jesus, God is a mere abstraction, we cannot have faith in Him; but immediately we hear Jesus say – “He that hath seen Me hath seen the Father,” we have something that is real, and faith is boundless. Faith is the whole man rightly related to God by the power of the Spirit of Jesus Christ.
Oswald Chambers
October 30th Devotional
“Faith is boundless” meditate that.
Boundless-without boundaries.
Then you see all the great expanse of creation.
Can we step up to the plate and take a swing, yes we can.
The beauty of this, we can swing all day and night until we get a hit. Eventually we will be hitting homeruns and our averages will go up, if we keep swinging. It’s why these people try to preach negative to us constantly, keep us from trying. We hold the power of God, faith.
Thank you, Palerider. As always, do not fear!
Good morning, 🙂
An old friend long gone and a really good guitar player told me about the time he went to audition in Nashville. The night before, they were sitting around picking and getting ready. Among those was Chet Atkins. The next morning, many of the hopeful guitar players just headed back home knowing they had no chance. My friend was one of those.
I used to try to catch Tommy Emmanuel when he would come to my area. He learned to play guitar by listening to Chet Atkins. They had a little club that would get the new Chet Atkins recordings and try to figure out the picking. If you get a chance to see him, he puts on a great show. One of the ones I attended lasted three hours. He is from Australia. He may be locked down.
His transcription of Day Tripper is one of my favorites.
Original key too, E major.
Ditto Lady Madonna: A major
Tommy is tops.
Tommy tells a story in his concerts about his little club. They got one of Chet Atkins albums and a song was in a-flat. He siad they could have used a capo and knocked it right out. Instead, they spent months working out the picking. If Chet could do it, they could do it.
When Tommy got to meet Chet he asked about that song in a-flat. Chet said he just used a capo as nobody could play that in a-flat.
LOL. When I was a young teen, knowing nothing about instruments or keys, I picked out a popular jazz tune on the piano by listening to it on my big sister’s inexpensive record player.
A few years later away at college, showing what I knew to a musician friend (who could really play) he casually observed “You play it in E? Interesting.”
“What’s it supposed to be?”
“No, it’s cool.”
Intrigued, when I got home I put on several records of tunes whose keys I did know, checking them against a pitch pipe. That’s how I learned the record player was a half-step fast, playing everything a half step up, and that “Round Midnight” was really in E-flat.
Terrific!
I’ve mentioned before, sometimes in my research I come across things on Twitter, that I believe are too good not to share.
For instance, when I saw what MTG had to say about her rough year and her father’s death.
Recently I’ve seen where someone named Jesse Kelly has caused a stir with his remarks that he has told both of his boys that he expects them to get out on their own when they reach 18 years of age.
This reminded me of some of Menagerie’s posts about fathers and sons.
Anyway, some of you may want to take a look. It doesn’t make any money for Twitter if you read someone’s tweets.
Another thing I noticed, how many people just don’t get sarcasm and humor. That’s Jesse’s style.

Ah, the dad has not learned yet, the mantra of the college kid….”Dad, I need some money”! So as long as there is a dad with a few bucks, there is hope for conversation!!!

There is a ISIS terror threat for Northern Virginia this weekend thru Tuesday after the election. Be alert if out and about.
(Read it on Town Hall.)
Translation: don’t come to the beltway looking for McAuliffe or Dominion operatives after the steal, because law enforcement will be out en masse.
Where is “Wilson”?
Ha! Clever ?
Go get ’em, Tiger!
Wow. He reminds me of one of my little brothers back around 1975.
Amazing
Jab is posion. I dont know how people can be so blind. They bury their head to the ground and don’t want to hear any bad news. When you try to talk other side of the story they get angry and talk like they know the universe’s secrets. They are hopeless cases. I won’t even try anymore.
It’s been said, You can’t reason someone out of a viewpoint they didn’t reason themselves into.

Good morning, thought I’d share with you info from ‘The Overlord Report’. I donate to the National D-Day memorial in Bedford Virginia. My dad probably played HS football against some of those ‘Bedford Boys’. He grew up in Altavista, VA was in the Guard and served in WW2 too.
Anyway, the following announcement breaks my heart. Many of you who visit here should know why. I pray for these Guardsmen.
“On Saturday, November 27, the National D-Day Memorial looks forward to welcoming over 800 soldiers assigned to 1st Battalion, 116th Infantry Regiment, 116th Infantry Brigade Combat Team who are mobilizing and providing a security force in support of Combined Joint Task Force-Horn of Africa. The Battalion is comprised of Virginia Army National Guard units from Bedford, Lynchburg, Charlottesville, Lexington, Pulaski and Suffolk. This will be the battalion’s fourth federal active-duty mobilization since September 11, 2001 and the largest single unit Virginia National Guard mobilization since World War II. The unit will provide security for bases that the Department of Defense maintains and will improve safety and stability in the region. …”
If you live nearby…please visit. Have a good weekend.

Farmerren, know of the bedford boys, as my dad was in the 29th division.
Thanks for the post.
I’m a Texan. I went to college in Lynchburg. Some of the locals taught me how to catch stripers using surf rods below the dam in Alta Vista. Central Virginia is wonderful.
Two of my daughters were born in Lynchburg. One was born in Bedford because the hospital in Lynchburg changed their position on abortion. It was a little longer drive, but glad we did it.
Thanks much for donating to that world class memorial and hanging out with us here.
Just prayed.

His particular messaging trial balloon is interesting, as one of various clues suggesting that elites understand the vaccines have failed, and that they no longer believe that anything beyond natural immunity will end the pandemic. As numbers deteriorate over the winter, they will beat the vaccination drums ever louder – not because they think this will help, but because the alternative to blaming the unvaccinated is admitting failure. They will now vaccinate and vaccinate and vaccinate, while Corona infects ever wider numbers of people. In this way, they plan to usher some semblance of herd immunity in through the back door, while allowing the vaccines to take the credit for falling infections in the spring. They played the same game with lockdowns.
The great problem these geniuses now face, is that while virus anxiety has become a self-reinforcing phenomenon with a life of its own, none of their hysteria-fuelled methods have worked. The people in charge have sown demand for virus eradication, which is the one thing they cannot deliver. But they can’t just end suppression policies either, unless they want the eradicationists to blame them for every last Corona death. They have no options but to insist on more of the same – first more lockdowns and more masks, now more vaccines.
The discourse surrounding vaccination isn’t supposed to be correct. It’s supposed to justify vaccination policies politically and encourage compliance. If the vaccines were actually safe and effective, this encouragement wouldn’t be necessary and none of us would be here saying any of these things. The Pfizer child vaccine trial is the latest in a long line of travesties showing that there is no longer any interest, anywhere, in studying the safety or the effectiveness of the vaccines at all.
The vaccinators are like a cornered animal. They will say anything to escape the inconvenient trap that their own rhetoric and heedless policies have put them in.
“there is no longer any interest, anywhere, in studying the safety or the effectiveness of the vaccines at
all.”
At the national level in the US I agree. At the state level and from other countries though there are some good stats coming out.
I read that as there is no elite interest in studying effectiveness.
There never was, they deliberately polluted the data, similar to the election data
Good argument. And grievous.
