The kicker here is what ever decrease in pollutants in truck compliance is worsen by ships exhaust.

So far I have not seen any other news outlet, esp. FNC, mention anything about the “the issues with the new California emission regulations.” SD works hard to get the full truth.

Lisa Boothe did state that “non union-private contractor truckers are not allowed into the port at this time due to the infamous Proposition..” (paraphrased) but nothing about the emission standard fiasco. But this is exactly what many of us knew would result with the implementation of Green policies by reckless Climate ideologues.

I realized how crazy California had become years ago when I bought a pair of earphones made in that state. A prominent message proclaiming that the earphones were “carcinogenic” was unexpected. But after I dug further, I learned that numerous products made in California are required to add the carcinogenic warning due to another Proposition. I believe no other state has anywhere near as many warnings.

The state’s wide spread warnings about cancer have marginalized some genuine concerns that might have credibility.

I know pretty much anyone can say just about anything on Mr. Peters’ show, but this guy hit a few of the most interesting data points I’ve heard relating to the much-storied “supply chain crisis”.

Sorting his statements boils out this way –

1) Port throughput is historically high, yet port warehouses are at maximum capacity;

2) There are plenty of trucks (tractors) and drivers, but not enough chassis (the frame and wheels that turn a sea container into a cross-country trailer);

3) The chassis are parked in lots, being used as short term storage with loads intact, all around the five counties, out to the state line and all across America;

4) Regional transportation – railroads and long haul trucks – are moving more freight eastward than ever in history, just to push it further down the road to the next-closest available storage facilities;

5) The loaded chassis are parked because the regional warehouses are full, and eastbound transport is past saturation.

Mr. Peters and his guest are at a loss to explain why warehouses that they know are full sit among cities and towns where store shelves, aisle after aisle, remain empty. They want answers.

Several years ago, every single item in the Christmas section of Walmart had “Made in China” stamped on it in small print. This year, with the Christmas items already out, almost all of them have “PROUDLY Made in America – Factory Certified” stamped in decent size across the front. In fact I’m noticing more and more items, that I would expect to see Made in China, Made in America.

So I’m wondering if maybe one of the unforeseen side effects of this whole shipping backlog mess, might be that the American factories start up again because the consumer just isn’t willing to wait and companies start losing money? Or am I approaching it from too simplistic a mindset?

Another easy explanation is the Commerce Claus, specifically written to prevent one state interfering in commerce across state lines such as states along the Mississippi River prohibiting shipping within their state unless a toll is paid (or if the boats use diesel). California’s laws are no different — they impact the rest of the country for their own benefit. I’m sure if Trump was in office right now — and selected a competent AG — this is exactly how he would have solved the problem.

My brother in law spent 30 years repairing heavy trucks and knows many drivers and he says this is not the reason for the backlog. He says the claim Sundance made yesterday stating that trucks have to be no more than 3 years old to pick up from ports is misinformed and that California utilizes the Drayage program for it’s ports that make virtually all 2007 and up class 8 (semi trucks) compliant (see page 22). Trucks built from 1994 to 2006 must have a particulate filter installed but most trucks on the road are newer.
