Here we go again. During a Virginia Governor’s Debate, hosted by NBC Washington at Northern Virginia Community College, gubernatorial candidate Terry McAuliffe emphasized his position that parents should not be allowed to determine what books and content are used in the curriculum of students.
Seeming to be dependent on the teacher’s unions for support, McAuliffe said: “I don’t think parents should be telling schools what they should teach.”

King was always extremely frustrated when students did not return after the summer holidays and blamed this on bad parenting, he said “their parents are worse than foolish in detaining them on the Reserve”.
If parents were working to remove their children from the school, the children would not be made aware of this, and any correspondence related to the topic of leaving the school was screened and not passed on to the child.

The hypocrisy / contorted logic is just draw dropping. Terry Mcauliffe wants parents out of the schools, yet they are calling for the exact opposite when that kind of thinking destroys children. It is parents, that all of a sudden, become the solution and check to a State run amok. (lol)
It is like a perverse game of Victim Whac-A-Mole, of fixing and blaming after the abuses happen but never addressing the “processes” that allows this to happen in the first place.

Fairfax cheats so bad it’s almost impossible for a Republican to win a statewide election.
A lot of people don’t realize this but in Virginia’s last big election year there were more votes for Republicans but a court had gerry-rigged the state so that Democrats could win both chambers of the general assembly no matter the actual vote. Our districts are drawn so badly in VA your rep can represent multiple zip codes across the state.
Great idea for redistricting. Require that each congressional district of composed of contiguous postal zip codes.
Some of the seats had no republican opposition. I guess the republicucks have ceded Va. to the color blue.

Their former government school started teaching in Spanish that year, and my kids don’t speak any third world languages.

I lived in Va. most of my adult life and Fairfax county always had their vote counts in early in the evening. But not 2020.

However in today’s rogue runaway education system, reading writing and arithmetic aren’t the mainstay – rather sexual orientation, gender bending, political statements, foreign and misc. flags flying in classrooms, teaching sexual gratification to Kindergarteners and worse are the daily agenda. I’m surprised there hasn’t been a mass creation of “new schools” which stick to the basics, love the kids, teach face-to-face and do not “groom” your child to their political, religious or ethnic bias agenda. At 82 years old, I have very fond memories of great teachers, enthused educators/principals and genuinely caring people. I have been a “history and literature” buff al my life because of the different influences that came into my life.
