Texas GOP Representative Chip Roy delivered some righteous words on the floor of the House of Representatives today calling the Democrat’s narrative manipulation of COVID “a sham”.
Representative Roy specifically pointed out the futility of a Mask Mandate if vaccines work; and if vaccines don’t work, then why the hell are the vaccines being mandated? WATCH:

Ground report from the people’s republic of Austin (the tampon of Texas according to JP Sears – the blue dot in a sea of red). Went to eat BBQ today at a really successful place. More than 100 people including customers and staff. One mask. Everyone enjoying themselves. A young Hispanic couple from California sat next to us and we talked. They were amazed how friendly Texans were – and how people enjoyed themselves and the absence of masks. Told them in spite of our city government, most people still relished the idea of personal choice and freedom. Don’t know their political persuasion but sense they weren’t wild eyed crazy. They did not have masks and were enjoying themselves.
Our local MSM media outlets highlight the 3 or 4 businesses that are going to require masks and ignore the hundreds that say nuts to our Mayor. We will live our life, enjoy interacting with people, and make fun of the crazy, liberal bstards that plague us everyday.
Oh, the Texas Dept. Of State Health Services has a COVID dashboard. You can download a spreadsheet that has a cumulative count of fatalities by date of death from 3/1/2020 to the present. The fatality information comes from death certificates that by law have to be filed within 10 days of death. Since July 3rd, 2021, Travis County (Austin) has had 3 Covid related (very liberal definition) deaths reported. Three. Hell, we have probably had more murders in that timeframe than COVID deaths.

When I walked into a CVS in south Austin today without a mask, the masked clerk told me “it’s not a mandate, but we’re encouraging customers to wear masks”. I thanked her and shook my head at 2 mothers waiting while their 13ish daughters were vaccinated. They were so self-congratulatory. One told her daughter how proud she was of her. My teenage daughter just shook her head with me.
Meanwhile, as you said, murder skyrockets. There were more murders halfway thru July 2021 than in all of 2020 in Austin, which was itself a record setting year.
And apparently only domestic Covid is dangerous. The kind that comes from outside the US thru the border with Mexico is harmless. Immigrants have to have the harmless version because saying out loud that some of them are bringing a harmful disease into the US would be racist and xenophobic. Only a white supremacist would think immigrant Covid was contagious. Dangerous Covid is a middle class white issue and damn them for their selfish refusal to “follow the science”.
I just moved to Oklahoma from Colorado a few months ago. I’ve noticed more people wearing masks more recently, largely elderly or obese. Most employees are wearing masks.
Except for shopping, I associate with my husband (not vaccinated yet either) & a few friends who are vaxxed or have had the China virus. I use sanitizer on carts & my hands. I don’t get close to strangers.
This latest up-creep of #s is fake as it has been all along. I would rather die from the virus than be forcibly injected. And that’s where we’re headed.

The vax does NOT prevent infection, does NOT prevent transmission. It reduces symptoms. So vaxed people are more likely to carry the virus with no symptoms.
Worse is the viral load a vaxed person carries when infected is significantly larger than an unvaxed.

And there are large numbers of black Americans who live in red states.
