acquaintances/co-workers had heard about dealing with people with Alzheimer’s and assumed that all were afflicted with horrible, violent outbursts –
not with Dad – he was a dear darling – but we (Mom and I) prayed a lot and kept right with him to avoid anxiety attacks building up –
we kept him at home because he would have surely gotten into lots of trouble checking the lights, jiggling door handles (although I daresay they would have probably drugged him at some point so he would not be up to that)
Watching Joe Biden obviously in the midst of a losing memory battle, it just makes me sick that there are people who do not give a damn about our country to put him in there plus obviously his wife, family and friends do not care about him and are certainly guilty of “elder abuse”.
God bless you for treating your stepfather with respect and dignity. I know not all are able to do that for various reasons, but many who are able, choose to just put their relative away rather than do the hard work of caring for them to the end. May your actions be rewarded back to you in your time of need.?
