This obtuse explanation from Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen about the April jobs report is one for the record books. According to Yellen, the government handing people more free money than they would achieve with a working job is not a disincentive for employment.
To prove her case she cites the hospitality industry hiring people in April. However, what Yellen doesn’t figure into her bizarro logic is that all sectors in all states are not created equal. Yes, the statistics of “sector analysis” apply across the entire nation; however, the underlying economic activity is not equally distributed.
Blue states are more economically closed than red states. The job gains are in the states where the economic activity is strongest and the incentives for workers are the biggest. The lack of people working is disproportionately happening in the blue states where dependency models are strongest. WATCH this nonsense:
.
These bureaucrats don’t have a lick of common sense. According to Secretary Yellen’s logic, there are times when water is not lacking dryness.
So our economic water is drying.
Fork tongued goof ball.
End The Fed !
1913 , Jekyll Island Georgia : Top robber barons of the era gather to draft what will become The Federal Reserve enabling legislation.
The Creature From Jekyll Island – read it folks.
All are Ponzi scheme with guaranteed inflation followed by sorrowful banks that must collect your property again to pay debts.
Then redo it. Reset it redo it.
They’ve done it Europe over and over, that ultimately fomented multiple wars
Yup, Mike Rivero’s video All Wars Are Bankers Wars goes over all of that.
Indeed. It’s the bastard child of the Rothschild’s. Was unconstitutional, but was imposed on our people by the same one’s who have undermined our elections….for decades
Yes, Rothschilds are still pulling the strings and are the hidden power. Here’s a tweet from Trump strategist, Steve Cortes:
For reference, here’s Lynn Forester de Rothschild, the organizer of the weekend call of 100 multinational corporate chieftains who oppose election integrity reforms. I wonder why they so vigorously oppose our populist movement?…
SparrowHawk, Nice to see you post. Like you, I’ve been scoping the landscape.

Revealing. Shocking.
Exactly! It’s not the government that’s printing the free money, it’s PRIVATE BANKERS who took over our money supply in 1913. They are the most powerful people in the world, more powerful than nationstates because they have the power to create money. If you don’t have time to read the Creature from Jekyll Island, then watch James Corbett’s Century of Enslavement: The History of the Federal Reserve and Bill Still’s The Money Masters.

Great explanation. Thanks for sharing. Liked how he said the pandemic was essentially bullish!t.
Yup, pandemic is total BS–just a psyop. They are using a bogus PCR test with high false positives (89-94%) to create the illusion of a pandemic. People are getting sick and dying from the same conditions they’ve always gotten sick and died from, it’s just that everything is being called Covid because of the bogus tests. If we were truly in a pandemic, then we should have a much higher death count, but we don’t- a JHU study demonstrated that there’s no change in the death count. They simply recategorized deaths from other causes and called everything Covid. This entire Covid psyop is cover for the banking cartel to usher in their Great Reset/4th Industrial Revolution, which is basically a totalitarian takeover of the world, where all aspects of life will be controlled by technology. We have no choice but to fight this, or we will lose our rights and freedom forever.
My guess … keep the Americans on unemployment … replace them with illegals and foreign “graduates” … then cancel the unemployment freebies for the lazy Americans.
How do they confront or handle the ‘ cut off Americans’ ?
Or do they create a workforce to do that ? A federalized police force made of believers that America is racist and ‘ white acting people’ are post new america
As an unemployed IT worker I can tell you that’s exactly what is going on. I saw an article that 2/3rd’s of all IT jobs since then first of the year have been filled by foreign visa holders. The rates for contract IT openings are being depressed due to this. I’ve seen some rates cut in half. (Remember- our political betters gave away 300K new green cards to the Indian’s right after the new congress was seated. This was Mike Lee’s little belated Christmas present for American IT workers, a veritable lump of coal).
On top of that I get hammered with the constant drumbeat of “the govt is paying people not to work”. NO ONE is paying me not to work. A prerequisite of my receiving unemployment is that I have to preform work searches, keep a auditable log of all work searches, and I cannot refuse a job referral without losing my unemployment benefits. If the govt would provide the American IT worker a level playing field I’m pretty sure I would once again find suitable employment.
When I see these articles talking about people won’t work due to the govt payouts I notice they always quote the employers. I have yet to see these reporters ever talk to an unemployed person. I think the truth might be somewhere in the middle. I believe there are more people like me out there.
My $.02 for what it’s worth.
It is astounding and very sad and very detrimental to the country to see what the Trump Administration was replaced with in the Biden Administration.
Biden Administration=Globalists.
You’re thinking like a nationalist, which is causing the confusion.
The tradition continues
There simply is not a more appallingly stupid creature on earth than a liberal female. The cartoonishly vacuous ignorance of these creatures is the reason for modern militant feminism – these women would otherwise have absolutely no opportunity to be taken seriously under any circumstances in polite company.
There are times when water is not wet ????
That only occurs when water is not dry.
You can lead a gift horse to mud but you cant make it cross the chickens basket. Janet Yellen.
These people are idiots, and setting education back 100 years.
I wonder if she drove to work today or brought her lunch.
Yellen doesn’t drive to work. She has a driver paid by us to take her wherever she wants to go, and it isn’t in an economy car.
She speaks Bidenese!
The Bewitched Aunt Agnes did such a crummy job under Obozo shes trying to top it under the CCP Installed Puppet by riding the economic coal chute right down into the basement. Watch how dismal the economy will be a year from now.
How can the swamp find so many people who are willing to step forward and spew nothing but lies and BS. I really struggle to believe this women is as stupid as she presents herself, but take it one step farther how does she face her family and friends after humiliating herself in front of the world?
The Obama, Biden administration has made us the armpit of the world in 108 days!
Spewing lies and BS is a prerequisite to receiving consideration. Yellen has a stellar track record in both

Only if they come with 6″ stick pins.
Only if they come with little paper bags to put over their heads at night and lead box for storage…so there are no nightmares or incidents
Remember Chuckie, from the movies of same name(s), was a doll.
When Hillary was running for The Big House, all I could see was Bride of Chuckie.
Wasn’t it “Chucky”?
Remember only 10% of those $2 Trillion packages actually goes towards money in pockets type relief.
The curious cat needs to ask Secretary Yellen, why major companies and banks with ties to economic sectors impacted directly by the multiple $2 Trillion seem to be performing in lock step with passage of those spending bills … insider knowledge maybe??
I value your way of thinking. Got a question I’ve had interest in recently.
How do we end property taxes?
I am not so sure you can end them without imposing another form of tax.
Consider:
Do you want services from the Municipality and State, where you live?
If yes, now you have to hold referendums to decide what services.
If yes, how are services to be financed? (Nothing is free.)
What is the expected level of Quality of Service? (You get what you pay for.)
Now you have to look at forms of taxes and trade off among them as to allocate costs they cover and impact. Plus, need to consider how to regulate them to control the rates, so as to not drive away businesses and residents (tax payers)
There are:
Sales (consumption) taxes – everybody pays but has negatives of disparate impact based on buying power vs wage
Straight out Income taxes
Property taxes which are another form of Income Tax
Other forms of tax
Then there is the ludicrous voluntary donation plans put forward by Libertarians. I say ludicrous based on my experience with Clubs and Churches where the same 1/3 of the membership actually pays all the bills or does all the work.
Sorry for being long winded, but it is a fact that has been around since man formed the first “village”. If services are provided by the “village” they have a cost and the cost is covered by some form of tax.
Where I live in TX, and I prefer the property taxes. They are well regulated with a few hick-ups now and again. We do not pay State Income Tax, the State Limits percentage increases, there are homestead rules as well as a credit when you turn 65. Sales taxes are not too bad either.
So, if you end property taxes, what replaces them? That is the answer to your question from my perspective, experience and reading.
so they chose property, becuase it would keep everyone committed to taxes , and not seperating wholly from the system.
i assume a payroll tax couldnt address streets etc…
my thought was once property taxes were ended, the government couldnt threaten people that simply only land and want to be left alone. (similar to Operation Downfall’s message)
Taxes are taxes. The can be used as arranged by the charter of the Municipality and city laws established regarding specific allocation of taxes. Where the tax comes from s immaterial. Property Taxes is one of blend of taxes.
If a person wants to “drop out”, they need to do so in a municipal location that does not tax you for the services received or a location with no services. One just cannot own land in a Municipality, avail themselves of the services offered and then feel not obliged to pay for the services. I have read World History and Anthropology by several authors and in all of them if one benefitted from the village, one contributed or was expelled. Even in the Bible Letters of Paul and Acts of the Apostle…if one did not contribute the community one did not; eat drink or receive anything the community offered.
Easy: Sales Tax.
See The Fair Tax by Neil Boortz.
Agreed. In my NE GA county, we have a 7% sales tax and the second-lowest property taxes in the state. Why? Tourists and travelers pay beaucoup in sales taxes, and we fulltime property owners have to carry less of the county’s fiscal burden. At one time, I lived in TN and paid a high 9.5% sales tax on everything including groceries …. but TN residents need pay no state income tax.
Yep, a blend of taxes as I said above and below. All forms of tax have good and bad to be balanced.
Those Municipalities in TN do have a form of property tax as well.
True sales taxes are an option, yet what brother Neal Boortz misses is:
That only works if there are no alternative places to shop, as in 1 town over or State Border with a lower or no sales tax.
Sales taxes punish lower income brackets by limiting their purchase choices.
Sales taxes have potentially negative impacts on new residents or businesses moving into an area.
That is why no single form of tax is used because they all have +/-‘s and a blend of taxes is used in an attempt to balance more factors beyond just collecting money to pay costs.
i just want the magical mix, that leaves me alone.
I’ve seen this property tax thing ‘stalk’ families that simply own stuff and are done with working. this has also worked on working families in areas that are getting costly. stalking = taking their property simply over a property tax, when they own the land, home etc…
I hear you but tax leans in many areas are let for more than property tax issues.
The purpose of Home stead laws in TX is to prevent that very thing from happening.
Plus, as we are learning from our friends the demo-commies it is all matter who is in charge of the taxes.
Property should be uptaxed as a way to keep land from being withheld from market in the furtherance of real estate speculation.
Unless the title to real estate is being challenged in Probate Court, the land should be sold and put to its highest use value.
With formerly idle properties being put to productive use, the additional tax revenues can be used as a replacement for income taxes.
This arrangement would incentivize City Hall to protect businesses from being firebombed by Leftist crazies because the city would forfeit revenue from the damaged property.
what if we want to own land, and not “essentially rent it from the Gov via tax”
Christian Warren sounds like a real estate agent and wants retirees to be forced to sell their property so he can more easily make a living, regardless of what it does to the retiree. I am retired and intend to continue living in my paid-for home and of others do not like that they can shove it!
Anyone here have access to those major companies’ and favored banks’ 10Qs, or published announcements of bonuses to their board members? One might learn a lot from such info.
Economists never build anything.
Economists never had to write or execute a budget for anything.
Economists never plam anything or even write proposals for projects.
Economists are never held accountable for the outpus of their models or if their models are ever used, they get Nobel Prizes (Paul Krugman).
“Economists” are similar to “experts”…If you can… do…if you can’t… teach…they all fall into the latter. Losers.
I predict when inflation becomes to great to ignore or explain away, JoeBama will blame it on President Trump…
“These bureaucrats don’t have a lick of common sense.”
They are more evil than stupid. The (stupid) reasons they give for their (evil) actions are just cover. It’s time to stop giving these demons the benefit of the doubt.
She’s only doing what she is told. But yeah, you’re right.
Many people are lazy and will not work if they can live comfortably off the government teat. Janet Yellen thinks she knows more than your average citizen but she is completely, 100% wrong in her understanding of human nature. Either that or she actually knows she is wrong but is prepared to keep trying to deceive people rather than admit these policies are going to have disastrous consequences.
I listened to JoeBama’s ten minute blather at noon today, then to Miz Yellin. After hearing Ol’ Joe say “building back better”, and “no connection between stimulus payments and the labor shortage”, and “my pop used to tell me about the dignity of work” … Yellin sounded like she at least has a better script writer. This entire collection of fools is beyond comprehension; their evil intent refuses to stay hidden behind the Obfuscation Curtain.
I just realized that my wife and I could become “unemployed” and collect just over $1600 a week in Calimexistan.
To top it off, then we’d collect on that 1200 ( or whatever we never got) per person.
That’s almost $100K a year! Even in SoCal, with our low mortgage, we could ease on for a couple of years, or more. I would’t want to touch my 401K yet because doing so would lose me 45K a year.
Tell me now, why are we working 60 hours a week?
Probably because you and your wife are honorable and have a moral conscience.
I’m a CA native, born during Ike’s administration, have worked since the 60’s, never had an unemployment claim until Covid, and then PUA, top out was 450/wk but that was at income max, any self-employed person seeks to minimize taxable income and that’s what PUA goes on so in my case that’s 167/wk. Even with the Fed kicker that’s well under the poverty level on an annual basis.
During/after the 2008 crash that .gov and the banks perpetrated, I kept on working and sold off assets and shed employees to pay bills, this time had my fill of the Communists and corporatists and it’s time for war so I’m going to fck them every way to Sunday using decades of experience and skill in industry, the kind of industry that build this country, to kill them. I’m done playing their game. Over. It’s time that people stop playing the stupid game, pick a side and let’s get to it. Worthless fcking Communists.
Integrity.
Makes that whole “its the economy stupid” saying obsolete. It really boggles the mind how so many people will believe the media narrative over their own eyes or even their own bank accounts.
I call it “Expert Syndrome.” People WANT to believe the nice things the experts say and the scary things the experts say before they will think about it themselves. I’m beginning to realize that a whole lot of the population secretly believes it is stupid and NEVER critically analyzes things for themselves including reality right in front of their faces.
Can there be any other explanation for believing that water is not always so dry?
Where I live now, there is a general disdain for anyone who is sucking the government teat. I find that refreshing.
I live 50 miles from DC and can hear the teat-sucking from my doorstep.
This is the most recession-proof place in the country.
When economic bubbles burst across the country, and depressed city corridors are dotted with “for lease” signs, and residents are selling off their “toys” for cheap and loading U-hauls for better horizons, rest assured that NoVa yummy mommies are still out in force midday getting their lattes, conspicuous shopping, then hitting hot yoga before picking up their kids from prep school. Don’t believe me? There are 1K+ companies and multi-multi-billions pumped through metro DC because of the federal printing press and the government’s profligate spending.
And billions of those dollars do not go abroad — they are “earned” here and they stay here. It’s the most clueless place on the planet.
Another Obama retread … we saw how well those Obama years were … eight years of nothingness.
Her tongue is not lacking deceit.
FTV:”There’s no question that we’re hearing from businesses that they’re having difficulty hiring workers, although over 300,000, I’d point out, were added this last month in leisure and hospitality…”
The service economy Obama wanted to transition to is picking up, manufacturing and all other sectors not so much.
The walls are starting to cave in on the fake president. The border is a nightmare. If people think it’s bad now, just wait until thousands upon thousands upon thousands of children of illegals make their way to America’s public
schoolsbabysitting and meals services. I’ve had more than one double take at the grocery store lately, “That costs how much?” Gas is through the roof. Anybody building a house this year will be paying 20% or more than they ought or thought.China is just sitting back waiting for just the right time to push Biden over a cliff with some sort of international crisis or other. Democrats may have to pull him sooner than they planned.
My bet on the crisis: China moves on Taiwan.
What has this skank ever done for our country, except take.
Today would have been Lt. Michael P. Murphy’s 45th birthday.
Mike gave ALL for our country.
Please remember him.
https://themurphchallenge.com/pages/lt-michael-p-murphy
Biden made more sense today than she did.
(Wow.)
That’s scary as hell.
In his presser today, Joe tried to use this talking point, but couldn’t remember the term “hospitality industry”. He mumbled and bumbled and finally came out with “entertainment industry”. Yeah, the Oscar ratings showed that the entertainment industry is doing great. Imagine if Trump had something this stupid and braindead.
Grandma Yellen is not like smart grannies, who’d only put a dollar or two in your birthday card so you wouldn’t turn into a spoiled brat always expecting a handout.
Yellin sounds like a career bureaucrat – reasons like someone who’s never worked in the private sector.
Perfect illustration of Yellen and the rest of the BS-spreading Commiecrats.
I noticed that comments are closed on that YouTube video. Can’t have the commoners pointing out the lack of common sense.
How long before Biden blames Trump for his dropping economy?
Today? Ok, nevermind.
With states re-opening….
The economy should be starting to boom. Not slow down.
She paints broadly and dabs at details whenever it’s politically expedient.
No one needs to listen to her or the ignorant press. Skip that nonsense.
You want to know what’s going on, who’s hiring, why and why not? Read the Fed Beige Book each and every quarter.
It summarizes for the 12 fed banks (regions) spread across the country.
Here you go: https://www.federalreserve.gov/monetarypolicy/files/BeigeBook_20210414.pdf
My company cannot find anyone to fill $15.00/hr jobs in the Rust Belt (!?) because unemployment subsidies are more attractive than gainful employment.
How does paying people not to work amount to economic stimulus?
We have one “employee” who enrolled for a COVID 19 leave-of-absence ten times in the last sixteen months! A few others are nearly as bad.
Orders are going unfulfilled and customers are getting increasingly distressed with our inadequate output.
The conscientious few who are doing their level best to keep the company profitable are feeling overwhelmed and deserted. The majority seem to be in “slow-down” mode, knowing the boss cannot afford to fire them without making the situation worse.
At this rate, an economic recession is inevitable.
Joe says that the economy is moving in the right direction.
The other right direction! Dummy!
Saw and heard enough for her last time she messed things up, Sundance. Pass.
It seems to me that all the Dems & libs are a bunch of moronic idiots! With the biggest morons & idiots running our country! Of course people will take the unemployment & extra money & say whatever is necessary to collect & stay home to do nothing! In my area there’s “help wanted” signs everywhere!
When you talk to employers they tell you their getting applications but when people are called to come for interview, they don’t return calls or worse they setup interview appt but just don’t show up! You know all they wanted was a business name to put on unemployment paperwork so it they can continue to collect $!
I bet if you checked out the people actually working you’d find a high % identity as GOP or independents!
I guess Yellen knows more than the Fed Bank researchers and the employers they interviewed:
“Employers noted that unemployment insurance benefits have made it hard to attract workers for temporary and low-wage positions. Some noted that child-care and concerns about COVID19 exposure continued to lessen worker availability as well (p. 17, Atlanta section, Fed Beige Book, April 2021).”
“Numerous contacts reported concern over the potential labor-dampening effects of renewed enhanced unemployment insurance benefits. A Wisconsin staffing firm reported many job applicants but few taking the next step to interviews. Initial unemployment claims in March continued a downward trend but were still more than twice the level of similar, pre-pandemic periods (p. 23, Minneapolis, Fed Beige Book, April 2021).”
White House press corps are not dogged researchers who chase down facts and expose fraud. They’re paid sycophants, wedded to the left’s ideology and too convinced of their goodness to be worth a damn to Americans.
I work in the real economy. I get paid when I close business. I would not believe she would be capable of saying such a thing if I didn’t hear it with my own lying ears.
And she was a PAID SPEAKER before the largest, most prestigious banks and investment firms in America?
Thanks for splainin it to me Janet! So go turn up those money printing machines another notch – you haven’t run the economy over the cliff yet.
I don’t think I have ever heard Janet Yellen speak before….and I was thoroughly amazed. Frankly, I found her word salad almost incoherent.
My buddy in CA hasn’t worked in 9 months.
He makes GOOD money as a union electrician, entirely commercial projects in the Bay Area.
But he makes MORE money sitting on his ass:
Maxed out UI, union unemployment stipend, bonus checks from the govt.
Not to mention the stimulus checks.
He recently started taking side work which pads his already fat wallet (and ass).
I know a gal who is an aircraft controller who has been furloughed by the Fed govt since the pandemic hit last spring. She gets to sit at home doing nothing drawing FULL salary.
P.s.
I work for myself, and haven’t stopped all through this.
In fact, I would say this past year has been one of my best.
Lots of people with some extra liquidity have been buying me out, constantly.
Product that used to take a month to move is often gone in a week, with back orders like I’ve never had before.
OK Treepers, I am outta here. Thanks for putting up with my million posts this week. Had a bunch of time. It was a lotta fun. I miss you all tremendously when I cannot stay in touch.
I have an awesome day planned for my Mom tomorrow! I can be a bit difficult, I know, but my Mom is one of the finest people I know. Don’t judge her by my actions.
For all the Moms out there, thank you for being you. Thank you for being the glue that holds us together, the love when we hurt, and for being the strength when we are down.
Good night.
“Blue states where dependency models are strongest”. Boy is that the truth. I was reading about a restaurant in Plainfield, IL that can’t find employees and have to ask their customers for extra patience and understanding when service is slow.
“…either immediately or ultimately every dollar of government spending must be raised through a dollar of taxation. Once we look at the matter. In this way, the supposed miracles of government spending will appear in another light.”
Henry Hazlitt
Yellen is supposed to be one of the “sharp” tools in the box?? Don’t think so. She’s not living in in our real world.
Stop trying to make sense of it all. The goal is universal basic income, with half the country as wards of the state. The other half will pay the bill.
and a river runs through her.
in her nose, ears and throat… only to be blown out her arse like a pressure warsher.
Price of gas up 10 cents this week. No inflation just summer adjustment for travel–wait?? no one is traveling??? Silver and gold prices bust out of base today because of weak dollar. Wallstreetsilver on reddit gets many new members. No one wants to work even though many jobs are being advertised locally. Our economy is just doing fine. (sarc)
The government paying Americans to leave their “fields” of innovation and entrepreneurship unplanted.
Are we sure that was Janet Yellen, and not Chauncey Gardner? Nevermind, we are. Chauncey may have been a simpleton, but he got the words right somehow! 😉
There’s no way off the economic road we are on – massive debt, runaway money creation, and the impending loss of reserve currency status.
Some states/localities are now proposing making livestock and gardening illegal.
Who knows what they know and have planned…
