•The situation started just before 2 p.m Sunday when officers tried to stop a vehicle for a traffic violation on the 6300 block of Orchard Avenue in the Brooklyn Center area of Minneapolis. •During the stop police learned the driver, Daunte Wright (20), had an outstanding warrant. •Police attempted to take him into custody, but Daunte Wright fought with police and got back into the vehicle. •As the man got back into the vehicle an officer fired her gun hitting Wright. •Daunte Wright was able to drive several blocks before hitting another vehicle. •Police said they attempted to revive Wright but he died at the scene.
Today police released the body camera video of the police shooting of Wright during the traffic stop in Brooklyn Center. Police Chief Tim Gannon said the fatal shot was the result of an accidental discharge, and that the officer who shot Wright had intended to reach for her taser, but discharged a handgun instead.
.
… And the riots and looting began almost immediately.
… And Ben Crump is en route.
At the range down here there is no such thing as an “accidental discharge.” It is ALWAYS a NEGLIGENT DISCHARGE.
As Uncle Clyde used to say…”practice like you play.”
She panicked. Typical womanish behavior, lol.
Yup. 3rd high-publicity shooting by “diversity hire” police officers in MN:
Jeronimo Yanez who shot and killed Philando Castile.
Mohammed Noor who shot and killed Justine Damond.
This woman.
They rush imbeciles onto the force to improve their diversity appearance.
Stop hiring imbeciles!
My understanding is that policewomen are far more likely to use their guns. I wonder if anyone could quantify how often perps run from policemen versus women.
If all cops looked like Hightower from Police Academy (Bubba Smith) I suspect police violence would mysteriously drop.
Well stated. Another LGBQWERTY female.
She had 26 YEARS…that’s right 26 YEARS…26 effing YEARS as a police officer…absolutely no excuse for her to grab her taser instead of her weapon. She’s an idiot.
https://www.startribune.com/officer-who-fatally-shot-man-in-brooklyn-center-is-identified-as-26-year-veteran/600045243/
Intentional discharge, just of the wrong weapon.
Not sure why she needed to taze him. I think there were 3 officers at the scene, and one towers over him.
Back up officers are only there for traffic and not help with the arrest. They often leave to chase after a person that didn’t change lanes when they drove by. So Back-ups are there to make revenue.
“…one towers over him.”
As they say, it’s not the size of the dog in the fight…
The police need more training, train, train and more training. That would help the public and the police.
I would support a requirement that issued tasers not operate like a gun.
Tasers badly need a re-design.
some departments do not use waist belt taser holster…it’s strapped up high on the chest vest….and on the “right side”…….
https://blade-tech.com/products/tmms-molle-lok
I agree, the Minneapolis Police Dept needs more training: “that white lady”, Floyd, and now this guy.
Training got defunded.
How would more police training have helped Floyd not die of a fentanyl overdose?
Facts matter.
Coming to an United Airlines cockpit near you, I meant to pull up and take-off, I accidentally pushed down and crashed ?♂️
Exactly.
Oh crap, I hadn’t thought of that yet.
I’m sure you’re not implying race or gender should be weighed in deciding who works certain jobs.
It makes you know better than the race hustlers like Crump
I have 20+ years of public safety experience in the fire department working closely with law enforcement agencies of all types. I can tell that there are great employees of all races and genders…….there are also horrible employees of each “Democrat segregating group” and some should simply be fired because they are that bad, but its almost impossible depending on the culture of the agency.
Trying to hiring a particular person because of a arbitrary factor over other better candidates doesn’t always work out – I’ve seen it first hand. If people want the job, are good at the job, they will excel.
Also, the way promotional exams are done doesn’t necessarily get the best candidate as well as with hiring practices.
Eric C, I would say your post is common sense, and you know we can’t have that.
Mohammed Noor is probably taking pilot training in prison.
LOVE^^^^^^^
You cannot blame pilot error on the poor avionics of the 737 MAX.
This is obviously tragic for the family of the victim and the police officer. Had the victim simply complied with the request of the police officer this would have been averted.
How is it that these families all seem to have Crumpty Dump on speed dial?
True – if he hadn’t tried to get back in his car so he could drive away…
If she hadn’t grabbed her pistol instead of her taser …
If he’d gone to his April 2nd court appearance on a weapon charge (he wouldn’t have been out with a warrant for his arrest)
If she’d never been hired in the first place …
if, if, if…
Crump looking to break Floyd’s family payoff amount.
I’m sorry….The timing, the location of this is way to convenient….After what I’ve seen over the last 5 years I’m very skeptical….
I’ve learned to be patient before deciding how to react….but this doesn’t look good at first blush.
“… the officer who shot Wright had intended to reach for her taser, but discharged a handgun instead.”
I see no need to hold that officer personally accountable for anything, since this now provides way more than is needed to authorize another 6-8 months of riots.
I trust she is aware that her life is probably over. Certainly her career is (and should be).
Any officer who is under street stress and can’t manage to pull the intended weapon has obvious competency issues.
And I’m not “being too hard on the police”–I’ve watched three close family members deal with being a street officer and everything that goes with it, back to the 1980s. It’s ugly, ugly business on all sides.
She had no business being on the street with deadly weapons at her disposal….in my opinion.
So, was her taser being worn on the wrong side? Same side as her handgun? How else could she have made the error?
Really. The tragic mistake could easily have been averted with just a little common sense.
Mistaking your taser for your gun. Isn’t that something that you’d want to make as hard as possible to do? By wearing the taser on the other side, And having it feel VERY different from a handgun, etc. And don’t they have different weights? Shouldn’t the gun been on safety with the safety needing to be taken off before firing? Or do Police officers run around with their guns ready to shoot at a moments notice?
Seems like someone failed when they designed the taser or the gun.
And police departments that buy tasers that look and feel like guns bear responsibility.
If she loves her Glock, she has no safety
GLOCK has a trigger safety…
They should put a special protrusion on the handle of a Taser, so it feels way more uncomfortable in the hand than a Glock
Most Police issued handguns, do not have have a safety “lever”. The safety is pressure applied by hand grip and trigger squeeze pressure both working in sync in order for weapon to fire. When in the heat of the moment, seconds count and automatic reaction means not looking for a safety button or lever to find and move. The gun must have one in the chamber and no safety so that it can be discharged instantly.
Police avoided using semi auto weapons for decades for two reasons: Fear of gun jamming due to slide action and a safety feature that had to be manipulated before gun would fire. Thus the trusty six shot S&W revolver. It was not until Beretta and Glock designed a non safety lever firearm, that Police would even consider a semi auto weapon to replace the revolver.
Also, the bad guys were using high capacity ammo magazine semi auto pistols which was twice the firepower the revolver could provide. When The FBI and local police in Miami got into a broad daylight shootout with two bad ass bank robbers with semi auto pistols and rifles, and the FBI and Police lost several lives and many badly wounded officers, the FBI decided it was time to look at semi auto pistols for issued handguns. Local police followed what the FBI were doing.
https://www.local10.com/florida-files/2018/11/28/episode-one-april-11-1986-the-bloodiest-day-in-fbi-history/
exactly. she should be fired
The firearm goes on the dominant hand side, the taser on the weak hand side.
She defaulted to her dominant hand despite intending to get the taser on the other side.
I also have family members who are in law enforcement and I agree with you 100 percent!
I wonder if the Department would dare to release the officer’s personal file to see if had been through remedial training or had been given numerous chances to pass probation…
Mohammed Noor got rushed through 8 months of training and then got sworn in to his position as a Minneapolis cop. The standard training is more like 18 months. All so that Bicycle Lane Betsy (Hodges, former mayor of Mpls) could be more “woke” with diversity. Since losing to the current Boy Mayor Jacob Frey she has shuffled off to DC so her husband could work for some non-profit that “fights income inequality”.
I can’t help but imagine the whole defund the police movement needs to be taken into consideration with regards to the caliber of officers willing to even consider a job in Minnesota these days.
I’m sure that if Minneapolis would just hire a lesbian police chief, everything would get better. Oh wait, we tried that: Janee Harteau presided over Mohammed Noor’s hiring.
She get fired and that’s it….even though she did shoot and kill the guy. Meanwhile, Chauvin had nothing to do with Floyd’s death, but he has to fight for his freedom.
“I think of a man, and I take away reason and accountability.”
Jack Nicholson
Amazing how quickly the family obtains Ben Crump to “shake down” the city for millions of dollars.

I couldn’t see why or who came up and did something with the handcuffs. Can someone explain that to me? Thank you.
The two officers look at her like, “WTH did you just do!!?” Maybe it’s time to start weaning women off the force. She, like all the rest, would have been no contest for the perp. Maybe crossing guards.
Guards for the GIDed LBGQWERTY that insist on dressing in women’s dressing rooms/bathing areas.
Maybe?
I notice that whenever a woman does something incorrectly or stupid, immediately generalizations are made to include all women.
Whenever a man does something incorrectly or stupid, no one comes up with a statement about male incompetence.
How many of this type of incident has occurred with male police officers? Did anyone say that men don’t belong in the police force?
I’m not proclaiming one gender over another as being better suited for police work. I’m just saying these generalizations don’t hold any value.
Yes – I have many friends family members who are first responders – both firefighters and law enforcement officers. They all simply want the MOST QUALIFIED person to be hired for the job – PERIOD!!
In this particular instance, it looks like the officer was poorly trained, or panicked when confronted with a stressful situation. Does this mean that NO women should be police officers? Absolutely not – but it does, IMHO, mean that this one probably should not have been allowed to be one and I hope she was not given extra chances or allowed to stay on the force simply because she filled a quota, because that will only cause more doubt about women who may, in fact, be imminently qualified.
A standard needs to be established and anyone who meets it proceeds to the next step and anyone who doesn’t is out – it’s just that simple, AND just that complicated in today’s society, unfortunately!
even going for the taser was the wrong thing to do – other officers in the way, the car is in the way, it would not be hard to simply give chase
Once again though, as always, this started as a non compliance issue. These hard headed ghetto rats always resist. Never comply. They have no intention of learning why they keep getting shot either.
They resist because they are ENCOURAGED to resist. If they get their ass kicked and they survive, they get a big paycheck from the city, and the police officer’s life is destroyed. If they get killed, their family gets a big paycheck from the city, and the police officer’s life is destroyed. Meanwhile, the rest of the “community” gets to go on a free shopping spree, and they are allowed to do so without consequence. There is no longer ANY disincentive to resist arrest.
The same thing happened it Tulsa around 2014 or so. A reserve Sheriff deputy pulled his gun instead of a taser on a suspect (also black) that was on the ground after a chase. The reserve deputy was around 65 or 70 years old and he went to prison homicide for a couple of years. The common theme, as in all of these incidents, is dumb SOBs resisting arrest from paranoid (justifiably s0) heavily armed people.
Shoddy police work all around. The arresting officer is lucky this guy didn’t have worse intentions than fleeing as that cop would have been in serious trouble otherwise. Guessing he was in training as the female cop can be heard providing him instructions.
In this ‘enviroment’ there is no solution.
It’s a downward spiral. ?
I had a similar thought: If I were a cop, given the current environment, I suspect I’d reach for my gun and claim I was reaching for my taser too. Which is part of why I’m not a cop.
It’s a woman? That’ll give the left something to chew on.
“Thankfully” she is white. That’s what they’ll concentrate on.
Saying this was an accident makes the female police officer look like a real twit.
She is a twit mistaking a taser for a pistol.
Mohammed Noor would have gotten a lighter sentence if he’s used the truth as his defense – the truth being that he is borderline retarded, squeezed the trigger by accident because he freaked out and and had no business being a cop. He’d have gotten manslaughter. Instead he huddled up with all the other officers on the scene and cooked up the standard police “I feared for my life” defense. His attorney stupidly tried that defense, too, so he got convicted of 3rd degree murder – which required the jury to believe he shot across his partner’s lap and through the cruiser door ON PURPOSE (which makes no sense). I guess it’s hard to admit to being an imbecile – even if it is your best defense.
To sum it up: Biden and his party own the BLM riots and the border crisis.
Ever wonder why some departments mandate they wear the taser on the weak side?
That’s exactly what the audio spoke of. They were trained to wear taser on weak side.
So, how did she mistakenly grab gun? Wearing taser incorrectly?
Panic reaction? Panic so you reach to the strong side instead of the weak side?
Frankly, in the current environment I’d expect… No, better not go there. They’g get there fast enough even without my comment.
This is unbelievable. Can’t wait until we have more women, blacks, and illegal aliens flying our planes.
LBBQWERTY “women, blacks, and illegal aliens”…………..”diversity”
We’re going down, and we’re all going to die – but at least the pilot was gender non-binary. So there’s that.
It’s not because she’s a woman… It’s because she’s stupid… I posted the link above to the article saying that she was a 26 year veteran of the police force. Stupid.
Pretty happy we left the city, and moved to a quiet little town.
Looks like the BLM rioting is starting early this year.
(Not that it ever really stopped, if you count Antifa)
I cannot find a link… I think it was yesterday that a cop in New Mexico was executed while on a *routine* traffic stop… He got out of his patrol car, the *killer* exited his vehicle with a *rifle* AR-15 and proceeded to fuc*ing shoot the officer in cold blood, no provocation whatsoever!! saw the entire video it was gut wrenching… (maybe on the dailymail)
People need to stop with the “cops need more training” “why didn’t he/she just blah blah” etc etc Things go down instantly. It’s always been a thankless job, now it’s beyond dangerous and disgustingly thankless … IMO #BACKTHEBLUE
That’s not what happened………..except for the driver shooting the state police officer.
Court records show Wright was being sought after failing to appear in court on charges that he fled from officers and possessed a gun without a permit during an encounter with Minneapolis police in June. In that case, a statement of probable cause said police got a call about a man waving a gun who was later identified as Wright.”
“but Daunte Wright fought with police and got back into the vehicle. •As the man got back into the vehicle an officer fired her gun hitting Wright. ”
Was he going after a weapon?
How would she know?
I would have shot him ON PURPOSE. TWICE!!
Because the first shot did not take him out.
If he was going for a weapon and he was alive enough to drive he was alive enough to turn and fire.
This is a no brainer.
Also, in a situation like this I always remember an article I once saw in a gun magazine. They were making fun of a Beretta (gun) vs Beretta (car) trademark infringement suite. So they took 5 typical characteristics of a car and 5 for a gun and compared them against each other. Some of them were hilariously stupid like cornering where they slid a (hopefully unloaded) pistol into a corner to see how many walls they could bank. But the final comparison was very nearly equal: impact (1/2Mv^2)) of a bullet vs impact for a car.
Loaded car or a loaded driver, both are equally bad if they hit you.
This woman cop couldn’t feel the difference between a taser and a gun? My goodness.
I support LEOs but boy do some make it awfully hard!
Will be interesting to see the female police officer’s service record and grades.
When the police agency I worked for began deploying Tasers to officers I declined to carry one.
The number of devices assigned to each station was limited and the decision to carry one was optional.
There are a number of variables to effective operation which, in my opinion, make them unreliable.
More importantly, unlike with firearms, routine training and practice deploying the devices didn’t occur.
We trained with our firearms to the point where, once the decision was made to draw our weapon, it was almost reflexive.
The same was not true with Tasers or batons.
We live across the border in WI about 40 miles away.
Realtors are calling our local Township Chairman looking for real estate.
I understand why they want to get out but we need a MN/WI fence!
The defense lawyers in the Derek Chauvin trial asked that the jurors be sequestered due to the events because of this shooting; the judge refused.
Makes one wonder just how ‘accidental’ that officer was in ‘accidentally’ pulling her gun instead of a taser; was the prosecution worried the jury would acquit Chauvin?
Even so, accident as it seems, the judge refusing to sequester the jury while riots are ongoing pretty much insures a guilty verdict for Chauvin.
Only temporarily. Because on appeal it also guarantees the verdict will be vacated. At which point there will be more riots.
The mere fact that we are discussing this possibility shows you how completely FUBAR everything is around here.
But you should see the big screen TV in my bathroom!
This is wrong on so many levels and I wish there was some middle ground when it comes to the police.
It seems the only choices are that all cops are heroes and can do no wrong, or the opposite BLM extreme where it’s defund the police.
It’s not always about race! I live in a lily white NY suburb and some of the sheriff’s deputies are real thugs. in fact, I would call it white on white crime.
Then we have the issue (the 800 lb gorilla in the room ) of cops brutally enforcing the mask and covid mandates including massive civil rights violations of people of all colors and races. Just look at what’s going on in Canada for example, but also in the US as well.
I don’t see any answers at this time. Just more riots and destruction coming up as sure as summer is right around the corner.
I am all for the LGBQWERTY culling their own regardless of race, color or creed.
The answer is a civilian population that comes to faith and live devout and productive lives
And a government who actually puts its citizens first. One that doesn’t tolerate illegal activities, one that encourages patriotism, one that make sure the population is educated, one that ensures opportunity for all and not allow jobs to be shipped off overseas, one that rebuilds their own communities instead of other countries, and one that doesn’t look to divide its citizens by race, gender or anything for political gain but seeks to serve all as Americans.
There will be mistakes but we must stop being our own worst enemies and realize we all are essential in having the great country that many generations before died for us to have.
Agree, this is wrong on many levels, and Minnesota is in a lot of trouble.
With the constant negative media about police the officers themselves must be just as confounded on how to react when interacting with the public while on duty.
It wasn’t too long ago I was pulled over, turned out to be a rear tail light wasn’t working. I heard a siren, saw the flashing light, pulled over, two officers get out, one walks to the drivers side as I’m rolling down the window (old car, have to hand crank it to go down), the other walked to the passenger side and I saw in my side view mirror, she had her hand on the butt of her sidearm.
Scared the bejesus out of me. Needless to say, that tail light was fixed within the hour! And this is in a less populated foot-hill area of town, and guess I’m in that little old lady category no matter how young I feel. Scary, but, this was a few months after this past summer’s mini-BLM protest the downtown area had, not more than 100 people it was that small, but even so, law enforcement was on edge.
I feel for the officers having to deal with that conflict on a 24/7 basis, whether on or off the job.
At the same time, I get livid when seeing police harass people over masks, even throwing people onto the ground, handcuffing one older lady, in her mid 70’s, for not wearing a mask.
Police departments need to get focused and get that political correctness thrown out of their rule books or it’s going to be a very long, hot summer.
I just watched the video and it is unbelievable that she did not know she was firing her gun.
Even with my support of the 2A, there are some people who simply shouldn’t be allowed to be near a gun. Too hair-brained so they are too much of a danger to themselves or others around them. Some years back I hung out with some people who’d gather once or twice a year to bust clays. Those who had shotguns brought enough so that those of us who didn’t could join in the fun. Despite repeatedly going over the safety rules for handling the guns one gun kept waving his around in all manner that I expect would have gotten him thrown off a regulated range. Yes, the gun was PROBABLY empty when he was doing it because we were good about ONLY loading when we stood on the line. But it was still scary because it was ONLY a probably.
Sadly this person is now a TSA officer.
The Deep state’s sense of timing is impeccable.
Do what your told to do by the police. Period!
Move him away from the car door (and away from access to weapons in the car), place him in a position of disadvantage, cuff promptly.
I’m no fan of wannabe gang bangers and punks of any color. I’ve seen the Daunte Wright vids of him with a pistol and joint. His warrant was for gun play and that’s serious stuff. But he was young enough he might’ve turned his life around if the right mentor(s) got to him. Maybe not. Either way this shoot is bad. The female officer had no business being a patrol officer.
This vid has much clearer audio. She yells “Taser, taser, taser!” You can just barely hear the round go off and immediately she yells “Oh my G-D!”, and after he drives off she says “I just shot him”.
That explains the shocked look on the other 2 officer’s faces.
If these “gangbangers” want to play outlaws then they should know the outcome that comes with this type of lifestyle:
1- you get caught you go to jail.
2- you can get shot and killed by police or others in the same game.
The dead guy is dead because he was stupid and tried to run.
The female cop has ended her own career because she is incompetent.
I’m not even sure why you needed a taser in that situation. You had one cop on the passenger side, a big cop trying to cuff him, and her. 3-1. Its not like the suspect was Floyd. He wasn’t 6-4 22o, looked rather scrawny. And why were his keys still in the ignition?
Oh well. He’s dead, and she’s going to be unemployed, if not jailed for negligent homicide.
Regardless…the guy resisted. Had he done as instructed, we wouldn’t be reading this story. This crap makes my blood boil. Everything is race, race, race.
Had the cop done as she was supposed to, we wouldn’t be reading this story.
Had they not lowered standards, hiring and training, we wouldn’t be in this situation either.
Death by affirmative action.
EXACTLY! YOU WON THE INTERNET TODAY.
That is a keeper: DEATH BY AFFIRMATIVE ACTION
and the handcuffer screwing up
The sun, the earth and the moon all revolve around black people.
Too bad the bullets go straight through them.
And 93% of the time, it’s another black person puling the trigger.
Here is the video of the Chicago shooting I mentioned in an earlier comment. Cop challenged him for walking between subway cars, an infraction calling for a ticket. Pepper sprayed him, shot him once, then shot him again. White guy, black cop. No demonstrations. No riots. Should have been.

Blood pressure alert. I watched it.
If you get stopped by a woman police officer, you better hope you remembered to put on your Kevlar vest and helmet that day.
why is a question we all ask…
Why does anyone not just accept there’s a warrant if they have one and live to work it out in the court system?
Is it due to lack of common sense?
Yes, the officer panicked but who panicked first? NOT HER.
So jury in the Chauvin trial will not be sequestered. Great
“The growing number of Black(sic) men and women who have been killed or harmed by police is far too hefty a price for the equality we are seeking.”
What the hell is Crump talking about?
Cities need robust physical fitness standards instituted for street cops, and if females can’t meet the high standards, they don’t go on patrol. Plenty of other police work to do—sorry if it inhibits promotion. Maybe get a job suited to your actual real-world physical abilities.
That was a poorly executed arrest. You had three police officers on the scene. When the suspect got out of the car, he should have been escorted by two officers to the rear of his car, placed face down on trunk with legs spread, and hands behind back. An assisting officer should have helped control him while the other officer was applying handcuffs. The suspect would not have been able to get back into the car or reach into the car for a weapon, There was no search of suspect before handcuffing. The whole encounter was a clusterfark and looked like a total lack of training by all officers present. The moment he resisted at the rear of the car, both officers could have body slammed him to ground and the third officer could have helped and had tazer ready to fire on suspect. She should have had it drawn and ready instead of having to react in the heat of the moment. Maybe she would not have drawn service weapon instead of Tazer.
Millions will be paid by city for this mistake. Not to mention the millions that will be lost in the ensuing riots and arson. Officer will be charged with at least negligent homicide.
You have summed it up very well, good job!
Why do we not hear the shot? Should have been a “pop.” Has it been muted? Edited out? If so, then what they released was a DOCTORED video. So, what else was edited out?
His killing wasn’t warranted. No way, no how. Just like Ashlie Babbit’s killing wasn’t warranted. No way, now how. See the difference of just how the “community” and “media” treat each one?
Ladies and Gentlemen, we have our latest black hero!
I’m glad they released the body cam footage. Had they done so with Floyd, the world might be been spared several unnecessary nationally televised funerals.
It’s often the case the body cam footage exonerates the officer. But incompetence, even under stress, is not a great defense.
I’ll never forget when I was in the military we were deploying with a survivable C2 unit inside CONUS, and we (the officers) were all issued sidearms. The convoy was on the road for about 15 hours, and we had stopped at a rest area so people could eat and get some relief. The convoy continued on without incident…until…we arrived at our deployment site and one of the LT’s was in a panic. She had somehow not only become separated from her sidearm in a restaurant…she had left it there…and it was found by some civilians.
She was sent home never to deploy with us again. Thank God some kid didn’t find it.
Competence matters.
