The car can be considered a deadly weapon, I’d expect. He might have thrown it into reverse and attempted to run down the police officers, there is no way to tell how a fugitive is going to act when under duress. It is a split second decision and it was clearly a mistake on the part of the officer who grabbed her firearm instead of the tazer. It was not her intent to kill, at least from the camera footage shown.
All the guy had to do was to NOT resist arrest and the whole thing would have ended with everyone alive. Since this fugitive had an active warrant out for his arrest, it is likely not his first bad decision. It is sad for all involved, especially the diseased.
That being said, it is interesting to note that rioting started immediately, almost as though various groups were waiting for an excuse, say a court decision they dislike, to begin extracting “justice” from select shopping establishments in the greater Minneapolis metropolitan area. Nothing says justice like a brand new big screen TV.

The car this kid was driving was carjacked earlier that day, the kid brandished a gun while the cops were in pursuit (the police radio establishes this). The kid also had an active warrant that would appear to be from him not complying with conditions of his bail in which he was released on aggravated robbery charges in February of 2021.
So in summary, this kid was out on bail for a violent crime he committed a month or so ago, he violated the conditions of his bail and had an active warrant for his arrest as a result…and was now brandishing a gun to pursuing officers as he fled in a car that was just carjacked and then gets back into the car where the officers know he has a gun.
This is definitely the angel that was on his way to church when the racist cops decided to execute him that the left in this country has been looking for.

Most low cost microphones and cheap preamp circuitry used in body cams, smartphones, small portable voice recorders etc,. is a far cry from human ears or the dynamic range capabilities of professional sound recording equipment.
One other thing I did not previously mention is that there was a lot of loud commotion and yelling at the time her gun went off so the mic’s sound circuitry was likely already fairly well damped down to keep it from overdriving the recording.

When it first came out that she mistook her gun instead of the taser I thought she must have pulled it out and shot immediately and didn’t realize but I can see her hand on the gun for several seconds. It is weird that a trained office wouldn’t realize the difference while holding the gun out at arms length.

How was the female officer’s life or safety in jeopardy? She was behind the big black officer and was safe there. The first cop trying to cuff him looks like he had a yellow taser gun. The cop that shot him looks like she was using a Glock 19. If your black Glock is out in front of you in a shooting position the lack of the yellow color should have been noticed. Poor training, stress of confrontation who knows? There was a similar situation in Oklahoma where a reserve Sheriff did the exact thing pull his gun instead of his yellow taser gun and killed a suspect but he was 73. Don’t know what happened to him. Tragic for all involved.

Just an observation, but when the officer got the driver out of the car, he should have walked him to the back of the car to search him first, thus removing him from a chance to make a quick get away. He didn’t put the subject in a proper position to be handcuffed, he left him up right, not off balance. The subject was able to resist easier. And all of this with backup already on scene. Looked pretty unprofessional to me.

The Taser is lighter with a totally different grip feel. It has a thumb safety where most duty pistols i.e. Glocks, do not. The sights are totally different. Not mentioned enough is the fact that the holsters are nothing alike. The Taser is removed with a simple finger button. The service pistol holster requires more deliberate actions of the thumb and fingers. The two holsters are placed on opposite ends of the duty belts. Now saying all this it does not surprise me one bit she accidently shot him.

WB…I’m the LAST ONE here to take thugs side. My white mother was assaulted by a 20 something black guy in the late 60’s in a hard inner city. That guy was the older brother of a high school friend. Even so justice was served as was required in the day. But that experience and my experience as a white minority makes me the last guy here to “teach thugs to run”.
It took a LONG time to let go of prejudices as a result of my experiences as a white minority. I’m still very tuned in to thug attitudes and see it a mile away. I stopped for the traffic violation and gave him my information. Had he done this, he would be alive today! I am really tired of this insanity and double standard.

You really shouldn’t have too many female firefighters, zero female beat cops in neighborhoods the Left has turned into blown out war zones and few female soldiers.
I’m not saying there should be none, but either adjust these jobs to legitimately work for women, OR just keep the same standard and those who meet it get to join. There are Amazons retired from the MMA who need work too. Not many though.

If the cops were racially targeting blacks we would see many examples of folks rioting over shootings of blacks who did NOT resist arrest. A cop must assume that a resister is also trying to get and use a deadly weapon.

The female officer herself indicated she was going for her TASER. That means she recognized there was no justification for deadly force. Are you second guessing her and saying there was justification?

America is a police state and getting worse. Cops arresting people for no masks. Cops trying to stop church services. Cops not arresting BLM but arresting Trump supporters for Jan 6. What’s to stop cops from shooting you in the future for whatever they want? They won’t because you “follow orders”? What happens when those orders are illegal, BS, and cause you to fear for your life? How about when they move to cuff you for some BS excuse, an excuse you know is BS. And you sidestep them or step back. How about if they just unload on you and say that you made a “funny move”?
The problem with your arguments is that when cops start coming for you, those arguments will be used to justify them shooting you,. We’re all on the same side here. But some aren’t seeing the bigger picture this shoot represents.

According to Vdare the deceased had two outstanding warrants both for armed robbery, gun possession, narcotics and trespassing. The second warrant was issued a week after the first. There is also a report that the car he was stopped in was carjacked earlier in the day. Obviously, the demise of Wright was no loss to anybody except his lawyer!

Earlier it was mentioned that it was sloppy to not get him to the back of the vehicle and to cuff him right away. It was also mentioned that the female office may be in training and the ‘cuffing’ officer was letting her participate in the arrest.

I actually thing that, for black people, it is an instinctive response of sorts dating back to slavery when runaway slaves were hunted down by dogs. To this day there are many blacks who are afraid of dogs.
I blame the fugitive/suspect regardless of actions by the officers, but for different reasons than most. I think he is at fault because he was obviously not woke enough. As soon as the the female officer butted in he started fighting. If he was woke he would have been happy to be arrested by a female for the cause of Women Empowerment. He may have even gotten a lucrative speaking fee in the future at a Feminist PinkPu**y hat convention, maybe meet Cher and Madonna……who knows!!!

Traditionally to “protect and serve” doesn’t refer to criminals with outstanding warrants, but alludes to law abiding citizens. But one shouldn’t be sticklers for such a silly and outdated notion.
Clearly LE committed a major faux pas. If a person with an OW decides he is not in the mood for arrest, physically resists, absconds in a car, procedure dictates the following remedy. Without delay, you immediately hand him a hot coco, a hamper of muffins, stand back and wave him goodbye.
