When someone gives me a hard time about it I say given that they are naming the different strains by the country they seem to be coming from… why do they have a hard time my calling it the Wuhan Virus?
I was having a debate with an ‘educated liberal’ who thinks his you-know-what doesn’t stink and used the term China Virus. Because I called it the China Virus he said my arguments were all invalid. lolli- you are so right about keeping a journal! For many years now I have made it a habit to keep a notebook and pen next to my computer where I work.
I make sure to write something every single day- sometimes it’s a quote from Sundance or something I read here or a link to some great essay. Sometimes it’s just a note about the weather or what happened during the day. It gives me great satisfaction to actually write something with a nice pen on paper.
Also important- to be able to look back over the years and see the truth about what happened in my life. There it is, in black and white. My own memories that no one can take away from me or vaporize.
It is more important today than it ever was before.

Years ago I met a Christian man who did that kept a daily journal for every prayer request he made for more than 30 years of prayers I believe it was at the time. He said when he went back and looked at the prayers he had written down in his journals he was astonished how many had been answered. There is something to putting pen to paper that focuses the mind that is missing today! Our daily prayers are more important than most of us believe or understand.

I’m not convinced Ashli is dead. I believe that it was a staged event to produce the desired optics. It worked. I’ve watched the video from four different angles a dozen times. Some at slow motion. 1. They were brought to the location. 2. Three capitol police were guarding the door until the guy in the suit asks them to leave. 3. The swat team never replaces the capitol police, but rather watch. 4. The perps are slamming a hard helmet into the glass on the left side window and the doors but someone walks up to the right side window and gently pushes it out. 5. The guard is waiting for the gang to bust through the door? Who does that? Once ashli starts to climb up into the widow, the guard takes his stance and holds the pistol level at mid-chest high James Cagney style. 6. The guard shoots, the receiver DOES NOT recoil and thus eject the brass. Indicating it was a blank. Voices shouting “flash bang”. 7. Ashli steps down then lays down. Left leg is bent up. Hands up. No blood. No gaping hole in the side of her neck. No blood spray on the wall. No bullet hole on the wall. 8. The guy in the suit grabs Ashli by the shoulders to move her head away from the marble stair post. Her head stays up while she’s moved comfortably. Her left leg remains up. 9. A swat team guy bends over Ashli, then stands back up against the wall, looks down the hall, gives a “thumbs up” then motions to move away to the right. Strange. The swat team does not secure the crime scene. The three Capitol police return to secure the crime scene. I believe it was staged for effect.

NOTHING in that video makes sense! WHY shoot somebody unarmed at a window? WHY does the camera operator stay and record the body? The non-reactions of almost everyone around, especially the “police,” are astounding.

There was no sense of urgency in the crowd surrounding her, and no flinching or ducking, no hitting the floor, no screaming in horror, as would normally be the case if you are near someone who has just been shot.
My question, though, is that it seems from her social media and even her husband and girlfriend that she was a staunch pro-Trumper. It sounds like she was not Antifa, but part of the Oathkeepers group, which is extreme right-wing comprised of a lot of ex-military. I really like your observation that the pistol slide did not move back! I’m not a firearms expert (they disarmed us Canadians yrs. ago), but is there a way of firing a single chambered round & NOT having the slide move to put the next round in place? Maybe a hair-trigger that is just pulled back enough to fire the round, but not complete the action? In some States you can vote in a primary as an Independent. You just declare which ballot you want and that changes you. If you want to remain an Independent you have to re-declare it. In PA I have to declare a party a couple of weeks before a primary.
In Florida. You must register up to 30 days before a primary. I usually do this online 45 days before, to make sure my re-registration cleared.
This keeps the GOP off guard as they don’t know who will show up to vote, how much $ will be contributed, etc; It sorta keeps them in the dark.
Contribute ONLY TO THE CANDIDATE’S Campaign..
NOT THE GOP.
And by all means, vote. Even if you have to hold, your nose.
Just work at keeping the party in the dark, and off balance.

I recently stumbled upon a quote from John Adams. It struck a chord and I went digging to put it into context. Is contact tracing ever done for suspected flu cases? If not, how do we evaluate spread of covid in comparison?
What types of complications are seen in flu patients as compared to covid patients?
If we only tested for covid when a person presented with actual symptoms, which is what we do with the flu, how would hospitalizations, morbidity, R numbers compare?
We are constantly given statistics as stand alone numbers, not compared to anything. So how can they be meaningful?

At some point, probably a year or two from now the true science behind masks will come out.
The fabric coverings are useless. Any kind of true fit is based on the seal you get around the edges. Facial hair and unique facial features can result in leakage, thus multiple sizes and models of masks are needed to fit to a particular individual.
Aside from the seal characteristics of a mask, a general covering on the masks is required that will filter a high percentage of the particles that the virus is attached to. Equally important is the handling and decontamination of a mask once used. Skip this step and you are likely doing more harm than good on reducing the spread of the virus.
The reason there was some confusion early on (besides Fauci and the talking heads not knowing the science) likely relates to concerns about shortages in the healthcare setting where masks are needed by hospital personnel to prevent the spread of infection from staff to the patients. If the concern was for the hospital staff, they would be using some of form of protection like a PAPR. There is some utility for staff using an N-95 type of respirator but all the fitting and sealing constraints previously mentioned apply. These masks have been used to reduce the spread of Tuberculosis (a bacteria). Note: Bacteria are larger in size than a virus.

I regularly interact with a lot of people. One aspect I’ve noticed that seems to be rarely mentioned is that the mask obscures facial expressions. They interfere with communications that in large part depend on “reading” the other person’s mood and reactions.They inhibit casual conversation and friendship-forming.

They are not holding an impeachment trial in the first place. With no chief justice presiding this is merely a political class show trial with zero ramifications. It was pretty much ended last night anyways with Rand Paul’s vote on whether it was constitutional indicating there is nowhere near 67 votes to even get a show trial “conviction”.

One of the big problems we have is lack of enforcement of laws, and the interpretation of those laws. Courts are meant to solve this, but as we all know, it’s not really happening. The left thinks laws are guidelines meant to be applied at their whim whenever it suits them.
As an example, the media is held by codes, ethics, standards, and some laws regarding objectivity, discrimination, truthfulness, accountability, and more. In my perfect world, I would hear more stories about breaking these code of conduct and laws. If they were truly independent and neutral there would be constant self policing to prove to the consumer. We need new ideas and solutions for getting the media to a truly ideologically neutral reporting.
One suggestion is to get rid of government funding of PBS and move that to something that allows the new emerging media to be able to demonstrate to the public they are worthy of more airtime or funding. I would envision a self policed 15 minute primetime news segment that highlights issues by different news groups so that the public gets a truly different approach. All media would have equal voices in qualifications and guidelines and big money does not. In my perfect world!

IS that a LIST of judgments or MUST removal from office occur in order for disqualification from holding future office to also occur/ be enforced?
The bigger question is … IS IT even lawful to hold an impeachment trial of any elected official who has already been removed (in PDJT’s case via election)?
Also, IF the House impeachment occurs while the POTUS is still POTUS … is that sufficient to continue the process (still go to trial) even if the POTUS is not POTUS at the time of trial?
Was it lawful for the House to deliver the Articles of Impeachment on a date AFTER the accused is already removed/no longer potus?
Supposedly, Roberts’ reason for not presiding was a ‘conflict of interest” bc he expects to receive a related case. I don’t like that answer.
Why not just say… the senate trial is moot; can’t try a former POTUS via impeachment process. By NOT saying that, he leaves it open as to whether it is lawful.
And by NOT presiding, Roberts is also acknowledging that PDJT is not the sitting POTUS too.
IF former President Trump CAN be impeached, CAN a Congress impeach former Presidents Obama, Bush, Clinton too? Surely we can find a number of acts

The President Trump WAS impeached before he left office, by the House. Yet, you are correct in that Chief Justice Roberts left open the Democrat Argument that the Senate is CORRECT to finish the legislative action started by a PREVIOUS Congress. He could have commented on the completion of that action being moot as president Trump is now no longer in office.
Chief Justice Roberts excuse is more of his tried and true, hide behind process.
More telling is the Senate Vote to APPROVE the Senate Rules for the hearing. It was 83-17, meaning 33 Republicans agreed to the RULES and that the Senate is correct to act!!! That vote should have been the same 55-45 as on the Rand Paul motion.

That was not a list of presidents who WERE impeached. I was asking a question. IF former presidents (ie DJT)… can be impeached/tried…. CAN other former potuses including Obama, Bush, Clinton also be impeached/tried too.
And IF Obama, bush… CAN WE ALSO impeach deceased potuses: JFK, LBJ, FDR, Lincoln, Truman, etc.

A PREVIOUS Congress started the Impeachment process but THAT Congress did not DELIVER their Articles of Impeachment to the Senate WHILE that Congress existed NOR WHILE PDJT was still potus.
I believe Nancy delivered the Articles on Jan 25… at which point DJT was not POTUS.
DO the Articles say President Trump (sitting potus) … or… do they say PDJT (former potus)?
If the Articles refer to THE President Trump, they are false b/c on 1/25 he was not The President.
IF the 1/25 Articles say former PDJT, they are automatically invalid/moot and unconstitutional… b/c nothing in the COTUS refers to impeaching former elected officials.
In addition, CAN one Congress’ measures, acts in progress BE carried over to the NEW Congress? Does that occur in other things? Usually, you start over with NEW legislation in a NEW Congress… so why would the PRIOR Congresses’ Articles of Impeachment be delivered to the Senate by the NEW Congress?

The PRIOR Congress’ Articles of Impeachment should have been written and delivered to the Senate WHILE THAT Congress still EXISTED… and while DJT was still the POTUS.
This entire impeachment is screwed up in multiple ways.
In fact, its absurd– reckless disregard the US Constitution– disregard for the clear meaning and purpose of the impeachment process. The Dems & several Rinos have made a MOCKERY of the Constitution… everything, really, the Rule of Law, Equal Justice, basic freedoms: speech, assembly, religion, etc.
And, if course, a MOCKERY of free and honest elections too. I still have a huge problem w/the reality that PDJT IS the lawful POTUS. He won.

I looked at the wording of the first impeachment against the President and the present impeachment article. In the first incident, they consistently use the phrase President Trump throughout. However, there are several versions of the second impeachment document from both the Congress site and others that are not consistent.
In the pdf that I downloaded from Congress, he is referred to as President Trump, but in several places, his title is not referenced but instead states Donald John Trump in several places and in particular the last paragraph definitely shows that they are impeaching ”Donald John Trump”, and not President Donald John Trump. The way the charge is formatted, the language shows what Trump did while he was president, but at the end the language clearly indicates the understanding that he is not president any longer as the language does not use his title of office. It clearly states ”removal from office”.
When the article was drawn up on January 11, Congress had already voted that Biden was the new president, so what was the purpose of impeaching him as they knew he would not hold office after inauguration?
Hmmm… its certainly strange because so many in Congress are lawyers.
Basically THEY …recognize …. they are in effect trying to impeach, try & remove from office a FORMER potus… so they are acknowledging that
ANY former potus can be impeached, tried, removed and denied the right to hold any position of trust in the fed govt.
That would certainly include all living former presidents… and ALL former elected officials too. It WOULD also include former senators and reps too… under “Non-president”.
NON-president… is not a definition though of FORMER president.
NON-president would include, IMO, all other elected officials. Basically, there are 2 classes: president and non-president.
Articles of impeachment against President Trump were drawn up before inauguration, but the Senate trial has not been held, so, technically the President has NOT been impeached. That is my opinion and I believe that is constitutionally correct.
I believe that technically the House has impeached the President, but a Senate impeachment trial has not been held yet.
The real danger is the Communists could impeach somebody the don’t like while ‘running’ for office. That is if their communist voting system won’t do the trick.
This is an interesting argument. If you can impeach a former President can you impeach a president elect that took oath of office as a Senator? Or for that matter, can you impeach a soon to be or a former dog catcher?
Let’s keep stretching the bounds of reality and common sense–Why not, lawfare sure does!
