Democrats have not yet offered details on when the trial will begin, but Pelosi’s decision to formally deliver the article of impeachment on Monday means that the Senate trial will likely begin early next week, absent a consent agreement between Schumer and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell.

An impeachment is purely a political trial, which is only described in the Constitution and not in very much detail. Therefore there are many differing opinions as to what standards and process may apply.

This is the kind of things these people want for this nation.

How is it that Rep. Alcee Hastings, who was previously impeached, convicted, and removed from office, was permitted to hold another federal office?
I’m not sure they are correct that impeachment will prevent him from holding office again. I’m no expert in this area but I think the restriction is on appointed offices, not elected ones. It’s bizarre that the GOP wants this to be the news focus instead of Biden’s radical actions.

The impeachment conviction would require 2/3 vote but the punishment phase would be something else. Since the president is already out of office the Senate could declare him ineligible to run for office again and that would only take a simple majority vote.

Since POTUS left office at the end of his term he is entitled to his benefits ..The only way they can take them all away is to convict and REMOVE him from office. but they can;t do that since he is no longer in office. A writ asking SCOTUS to decide immediately whether a former president can be impeached would provide Roberts, and the Court, a way out of the presiding judge issue by declaring a former president cannot be impeached.

If this was any sort of civil or criminal litigation discovery would allow investigation into the planned nature of the 1/6 events. But this is a Trump impeachment trial, so whether that discovery and the presentation of the results of the discovery are deemed admissible, will be decided by the trial judge, following the trial rules the senate makes up.

You have to get involved on your state level of government and fight them there. The states set the rules for elections in their states. Dems worked on the backside in 2020 and got some to their advantage but not all. Texas just won at Supreme Court case where dems were trying to force changes to Tx mail in voter laws. Get your reps phone numbers and emails in DC. Watch every issue and let them know your mind. Let them know now that if they support impeachment, you will be supporting their opposition in their next re-election. We have no choice but to fight or live in the Communist States of America.

An interesting dynamic though is even if the Senate were to impeach/convict VSGPDJT and disqualify him…it would ONLY be for any FEDERAL service. So although, he could not be a Congressman or Senator, he could be a governor.
