Comrade Rebels, there is a considerable disparity amid the Republic when it comes to authoritarian dictates and various State Ministries of Covid Compliance.
In recent developments NYC Comrade Minister DeBlasio has indicated he is allowing masked citizens to return to restrooms in restaurants which were previously forbidden. This is helpful progress to comply with the frequent hand-washing dictate; however, do not actually pause while in the restaurant venue proper or the Rona will apparently attack.
Perhaps these high-minded regulations from the New York Ministry are helping to drive people from New York to Florida where Rebel Alliance leader Ron DeSantis holds a more pragmatic perspective.
According to Florida officials the sunshine state strain of the Rona virus is not distinguishing between targets standing at a bar with a beer and targets sitting outside at a table with a beer. Apparently this is a conundrum not fully appreciated within the official COVID policy of the Minnesota, Michigan, California, Pennsylvania, New York and DC-based compliance authorities.
The northern regional ministry also indicates the virus in some states is triggered by rebellious activity at certain times of the evening. As a consequence many municipalities have curfews and hours of operation to avoid the greater Rona threat later in the evening.

Obviously our nation breathes a collective sigh of relief for the hours of painstaking debate that went into the Rona preparations in the northern tundra. With the race scheduled in March 2021, decisions were coming down to the wire. Additionally, to ensure the safety of the polar inhabitants, each musher will be required to test for Rona exposure midway through the race.
MICHIGAN – Restaurants must remain closed; however, “casinos, movie theaters, bowling alleys and similar venues will be allowed to reopen on Monday, with some restrictions in place.” What type of restrictions?… “Indoor ice and roller rinks are allowed to operate, but only for individual workouts or one-on-one training, according to the order.” So if comrade rebels in Michigan can find an Ice-Skating rink open you will not ever suffer the embarrassment of another human seeing you fall down.

Here in CT, indoor dining has not shut down, YET. outdoor dining is done pretty much due to cold weather, our local ski areas just opened. Our Gov wants to keep school open as much as possible. But the towns keep going to remote for a few days here and there when someone has COVID then they go back to the in person, back and forth, back and forth. However if you are pretty much from any other state you are on our travel ban..wait where is the outcry from the media? Churches are still open for those that choose to have in person. some have remained only on line. Bars are not open yet the brewery down the street is. Hair and nail salons are still open, gyms as well.
My biggest concern with Ned Lamont is that he is alway consulting with Cuomo in NY? Why? WE didn;t vote for Cuomo he should have no say in what goes on here in CT. THe worst part is having to watch Blumenthal and Murphy get thier face on TV about POTUS bad, etc…
Rapid City, SD: Wide open, Most people wear masks walking into any establishment. Once in masks are 50/50. The base is 100% masks for those in uniform. Monday we are getting on a plane to Florida. Hoping for the same conditions.
You know my big issue is: Most of the people I know who have had COVID are in the medical fields and trained to wear PPE. In uniform we practiced and practiced Chem Warfare for years on years. Most nerve agents are three times the molecular weight of COVID and know if a nerve agent is three times the size of COVID and we wear full out charcoal impregnated uniforms, tapped joints and gas masks knowing we would mostly die, these cloth covers are not doing a darn thing for you other than keeping others off your back. If you get it, you get it. It is highly contagious and a cloth or paper mask isn’t slowing it down.
I tried the VERY SAME explanation for chem suits/gloves/chlorine bleach…on family members… I got the following:
“YOU GOTTA WEAR THE MASK” and then I pull out a video of a doctor using a vape pipe and the different masks…THEY ALL LEAKED and I then asked: “Tell me how a mask works against covid vs the chineese in zoot suits w/oxygen being pipe in?” OH MY OH MY!!!
I disagree and here’s why. A mask doesn’t have to stop every single virus particle to be effective, it just needs to stop enough that your immune system is able to fight off the particles that did get through. If the person with the Sars-Cov2 virus is wearing a mask and the person exposed to the virus is wearing a mask, the number of virus particles the person is exposed to is reduced.
I liken it to a snow fence or a sand fence. Neither stops all snow or sand from getting through, but they stop enough to build a snow bank or sand dune.
Couple that with the I-Mask+ protocol and your odds of getting Covid-19 are greatly reduced and if you do get it, it is likely to be a mild/moderate case and keep you out of ICU.

Then … see if you still think they work to any extent.
Stoping the virus with a mask is like stopping a mosquito with a chain link fence. There is no way to stop the spread of a virus (I am a microbiologist by education, and made vaccines) if it is airborne. We relied on negative pressure and sterile environments to minimize the risk of spreading a virus, we wore sterile garb, including masks, and worked with the pathogens in sterile booths where we weren’t exposed directly to the pathogens, nor were the pathogens exposed directly to us.
Thinking a mask works in a grocery store but not a gym is BS. They are a placebo for control, they will help minimally if at all.
Placebo is an interesting word. Back in the day they were known as “sugar pills.”
Studies show conclusively that if a patient accepts the authority of the doctor, placebos have a demonstrable effect in a significant percentage of patients, despite the fact that the placebo does absolutely nothing.
I have believed for some time that the vaccine will be nothing but a placebo. Those who believe it works will attribute their not catching Xi’s Disease, or having a mild survivable case of it if they do, to the vaccine.
I attribute the same reality to the obvious statistics that only a vanishingly small percentage of the population, especially when therapeutics are included, is at risk of dying from Xi’s Disease.
The sheeple are currently getting warmed up for their psychological response to the vaccine by attributing the same magic powers to masks.

Ah, but we’re not stopping covid from getting into the mask wearer. We’re (supposedly) protecting others from the theoretical possibility we’re asymptomatically exhaling covid particles. That’s shy the vape demo is so damning.

And people holding the never-before-held idea that you wear masks for others don’t seem to grasp the fact that they must then wear a mask for the rest of their lives.
The snow bank/sand fence analogy does not seem logical. First, what about the Covid-19 that’s getting into your eyes? How about your hair? Do you wash your hair every time you take your mask off? The nose is not the only avenue for entry into your body.
Second, both the snow and the sand have properties that facilitate “clumping” for want of a better word. I honestly don’t know if the virus clumps in the same way but if it does it would seem to me that you could be creating a more dangerous surface by using the mask. The clumps wouldn’t just go away, they would “attach” to the outside of the mask like the snow does to the fence.
Third, if the mask did act as a snow fence what you would be doing is collecting the greatest amount of the virus on the outside of the mask. If that were a concern wouldn’t “the science” have dangerous-material receptacles everywhere for discarded masks? I see masks on the ground and I know of several people who just use the same mask over and over without washing it.
Fourth, I keep hearing that the medical professionals who are getting sick have been wearing N95 masks which supposedly keep the virus out so that doesn’t reconcile. Why did the Chinese in Wuhan wear hazmat suits?
Finally, I have come to believe that this is a way of humiliating and controlling the masses and reducing humans to so-called NCP or non-character players with no faces. Who is doing this and why I don’t know but it is interesting that so many methods of controlling people are happening all at once.
The stats simply do no back up the effectiveness of masking in the real world. Charts showing the track of the virus through multiple countries display the typical curve of a virus running through a population and in no instance does the imposition or removal of a mask mandate make one single change in the curve’s direction.
Now many counter with the complaint that, like socialism, masking just isn’t being done right. Well, human beings do not live in a lab environment, and unless you want to turn them into rats, imperfect masking (if there even is a perfect method) is what you get. Meanwhile, the societal damage being done by masking is far greater than any prevention it might provide – which of course it doesn’t.
I have been out and about throughout this virus, going to restaurants. I wear the thinnest 100% cotton poplin type mask that I could reasonably find, at JoAnn’s fabric.
I have had instances of coming down ill with a head cold, I take my regime of Airborne Effervescent, Vit D3 (daily), L-lysine, and zinc picolinate, and I am better within hours and it is gone by the next day. And I believe the zinc really zaps it, even more so than Airborne alone ever did. One evening I took everything but the zinc, and somehow the next day I woke up with a head cold, coming down feeling, sneezing, feeling bad, etc. I took the zinc, which I did not take the evening before, and within hours, I suddenly was 80% better. Kept it up next day and it was gone.
I keep a bottle of Quercetin on stand by.

I have found these research articles, some people who have had certain cold viruses have markers on their T-cells that can make them immune or perhaps very low symptoms.
Why isn’t there more study being done? This one fits all isn’t working. The least harm would be to be more proactive in finding out if many people won’t even get it, I think it said in the 60 percent range.

Too rational. This was never about a virus.
And yet just this morning, in YouTube comments on yesterday’s COVID speech by the governor of TN, healthcare workers were screaming at him for not imposing a statewide mask mandate. I have lost all respect for healthcare workers, and will view them all, including docs, with suspicion from here on out.
My 91 year old Mom is in assisted living. Normal life where we could visit in the residence or take her out for galavanting around town stopped in March. 9 months ago. One of our fun things was to visit our pedicure salon. Nails grow. Natural fact. The only option is Texas Medicare allows a podiatrist to visit the residents to clip those pesky toe nails…billing at podiatrist costs. !!!
So, not only is our regular pedicure salon missing 2 clients and tips every month, but everyone’s children’s children are getting billed by Medicare at specialist costs —-and he does a crappy job leaving nails ragged which is annoying as all get out.
Texas is a mess headed for unsustainable costs due to this nonsense.

N TX, 30 mi. from Ft Worth (semi rural anymore). Busy restaurants going full tilt boogie (three I know of) (no table spacing, no muzzles). Walmart no longer 24 hr, and most stores back to almost regular hours. Only problems was Best Buy and Batteries+, which I will never go to again… No muzzle for me. Vet Administration in Ft Worth is full Gestapo including Temp (my forehead temp was 88 degrees according to the young guy at the door). Every biz has signs of Muzzle Required, but don’t say anything, not even other customers. I haven’t shopped in Fort Worth or Dallas.
Your issue with the post office is very interesting, as my wife & I both encountered bills missing in the las 3 months. To the best of my knowledge, I have never experienced missing or stolen mail. Not to say it does not happen, it’s rather odd it occurred to both of us at the same time. The paper from the missing mail probably found its way into a coronavirus vaccine !!!

I recently ordered some dishes on Ebay. The seller suggested USPS Priority Mail, and the package was supposed to arrive in just a few days, a week at most, traveling from Alabama to Michigan. It actually took 3 weeks! Luckily nothing was broken. Their tracking service is horrible. If at all possible, I will never have a package sent via USPS again. Too bad there isn’t an alternate service for first class flat mail.

A small percentage of people wear masks or only if mandatory for a necessary biz/gov office. Of course me and hubby are hermits so we aren’t very affected by it at all. Hubby tends to the elderlies and keeps them in groceries and other things because they are very scared.
Downtown is just dead, help wanted signs everywhere. Very strange, grew up here and never seen anything like this. Nothing mandated per se just the Christmas UGHHHHHHHHHHHHH mostly.
Forgot to mention: We have always homeschooled our kiddos so no idea on the school situation.
Church “leadership” has a lot to answer for regarding their fearful and submissive response to COVID. When my church jumped on the BLM self-flaggellation bandwagon on top of the COVID-fear train, that was the last straw for me. We haven’t been to organized worship in months.

Due to other states making RIDICULOUS rules and such, our older daughter and grandkids can’t come visit. Our teenagers are like BLEHHHHHHHHHHH. We received ONE item on a Christmas list from our daughter “Chocolate” that is all she asked for. Our son has no list at all.
So we have cancelled Christmas and it will be just another day. Talk about Christmas UGHHHHHHHHH Oh yeah, it is here!
I will be on a tractor moving wood from Hurricane Michael…………. Yes, after 2 years we are STILL moving wood and clearing land. The hits just keep on coming.

Agree with that totally and even then don’t count on the accuracy. Spouse has been waiting all year for an orthopedic surgery that finally got scheduled after 2 cancellations by hospital/doctor due to factors unknown. He self quarantined for 2 weeks before to limit any possible exposure. Since he’s the driver in the family, I was also virtually quarantined by default. 72 hrs. before the procedure the hospital administered the required Chiflu test. Came back positive, surgery cancelled. 4 days later he took another one conducted by a different hospital. Came back negative. Both were PCR tests. All in all a month has passed before and after testing. He’s had no symptoms whatsoever, at all, period, nada and neither have I in a 2 person household. Yet now he’s on the “list” and can’t have the surgery. The testing is BS, extremely variable, and highly inaccurate. A person is either sick, or not and a majority of the time knows the difference. Total gaslighting to make a healthy person doubt even their own wellbeing despite how they actually feel. They are using Chiflu testing as a gateway to obtaining healthcare services, aka rationing. Beware, this is just the beginning. Pretty soon the mandate will be you have to test before being able to do anything. Then it will move directly into you must have the vaccine before being able to do anything.

In our small town of Neosho Missouri some citizens demanded masks and limited capacity, rebels showed up and shut that nonsense down, permanently.
NY here. There is a small bar/restaurant around the corner from my son’s place that has gone through several ownership changes recently. Apparently the current owners know what they are doing and before the pandemic hit they were packed every night. I wondered if they would be able to survive.
When the dining restrictions were eased they did have a tiny outdoor patio operating, but now I have noticed that they are full tilt packed every night again. They are a small place outside of the town and most of the vehicles in the parking lot are pick up trucks. I would guess that the working people love the place. I will have to go soon.
Around here you have to wear a mask into the establishment but you can remove it after being seated. Have to put it on to go to the restroom and again when you leave the place. Tell me how this follows any sort of scientific sense.

Atlanta, GA here. Things are about the same as they’ve been all year regarding covid. You’re expected to wear your muzzle when out in public. I think there are other rules regarding parties and such, but I don’t know anyone who abides that stuff. As long as your party isn’t too loud and the cars don’t block the street, you should be fine. The Christmas shopping herd is pretty big, as you’d expect, but maybe not quite as chaotic as it was last year. The covid charade is apparently forcing the virus believers to learn how to shop online. Of course, the downside to that is that now the USPS is utterly swamped. I’m still waiting on two Christmas gifts to reach their destinations, both ordered near the start of the month.
All I can say is this: in my little valley here, you can establish an instant rapport with almost anyone by just saying “Idiot governor”. At the least, they will say “seriously”, and all too frequently, it will spark an outpouring of all the things they have been going through and are going through now. If my experience here is any indication at all, the Donk governors causing all this unnecessary pain are playing with fire.

Masks in stores are required (don’t wear one & no one says anything)… most including family (ugh) wear them in stores and restaurants… Grand Kids, college, high school & middle school still online learning and no evidence of them going back for second semester (ridiculous).

More Restaurants are closing every day. And in Richmond what used to be a really great place to shop, Carytown, is almost finished.
People are wearing masks everywhere. I was told I had to wear one at the art museum, partially funded by my tax dollars, or leave.
I wish I had the courage to say no way but i just left. I now carry a fake piece of paper saying I have asthma– no doctor’s signature nothing just looks official. Now i have no

Metrowest Boston, MA area here. Our esteemed RINO Gov. Baker (heavy sarc) has declared we now have to follow CA silly rules and wear a mask in between bites while dining at a restaurant. Yeah, that’s gonna help a lot. It’s just going to kill off restaurants.
Today is my daughter’s birthday. Our tradition is that each kid gets to choose a restaurant to eat out at for their birthday. I’m going to see if I can convince her to just get takeout and eat it in the car on the way home. I’m not wearing a mask in between bites! How stupid!
Yesterday, was Christmas shopping at Target. Some annoying woman had parked her cart right in front of the display I needed to look at. So after thoroughly checking nearby displays, I got PO’d with her and just started moving in. She mutters under her breath, “I’m trying to stay 6 ft distanced, but you just move on in.” Then moves away in righteous fear. I didn’t say anything to the moron, there’s no convincing these people. But I don’t have time to wait for dawdlers.
Went to 2 doctor appointments in last few weeks. One at Tufts hospital. Nurse stated they had a “Thanksgiving bump” in cases from all of us naughty people traveling and visiting our loved ones. She said Gov. Joker, er, Baker is threatening to lock us all down. Then his new stupid edicts came out about the restaurants.
Other doctor was our pediatrician. He’s all bought into the testing and social distancing craze. Very liberal. Thinks colleges that don’t test students several times a week and have in person classes are spreading the disease. Guess he missed herd immunity topic in medical school.
Supposedly educated adults really believe these masks will stop the virus from getting through. They believe we must hunker down and hide from others. What complete idiots. I hate this state, wish I could get a job elsewhere. Specialized field, hard to do.

To my mind the restaurants and other small businesses have a great discrimination case to be made – they are being unfairly singled out particularly in comparison to the big boxes – and on that note – why no mass outbreaks at the supermarkets and big boxes? None of this makes sense and we need a lot more people to overcome their fear and start THINKING so they can come to that realization.
And if masks work, why do “cases” keep rising? I realize that might be too simplistic of a question in terms of correlation and causation and such, but it’s something easy to say to get people in this State to start THINKING. We’ve been wearing them forever and there is a very high compliance rate in this State so what’s the deal?

I also have a primary care doc, a sweet young woman who insisted my plastic face shield was less effective than a porous paper mask. I gave her all the facts I could and then told her we needed to agree to disagree.

The masking-between-bites thing was way beyond the pale for me too.
Recently went to a doctor’s appointment where I had to go through a checklist of rona symptoms. I checked two of the symptoms, as asthmatic, and the nurse told me I had to get a covid test. I told her that I always cough and frequently have shortness of breath (Duh) and I refused. She told me that since I filled out the checklist I HAD to get the test. I told her no and the next time I was presented with such a checklist, I would lie. Hahahaha. She huffed off to the doctor who had overheard the exchange. He said it was my normal and put me in an exam room. 0_0 Ja, I did get a lecture about lying to the doctor.
I’ve had sore throat from time time over a period of several months – probably allergies in the spring, and then a bit of a summer cold. I was confronted with the covid symptoms list when I showed up for unrelated medical checkups (i.e., oncology) so I just crammed up with cough drops, lied through my teeth, and carried through on my appointment.
My oncology followup appt was cancelled four times by them, and eventually ended up being four months past the original date. I was not ABOUT to be refused entry. So I had a cough drop in my mouth. I checked my throat at the instant I was answering the questionnaire: “Do I have a ‘sore throat’ RIGHT NOW?”
Why, no. No, I don’t.
I am so sick of constantly being threatened with medical care being withheld.
I asked the intake nurse in August, “What happens if someone comes in with with a specific and immediate medical need that has absolutely nothing to do with COVID but they happen to cough and admit they have a sore throat?”
Curious about her answer? Keep in mind this was in AUGUST, four months after the medical industry had copped out on all of the Hippocratic oath crap……
Her answer was, “I hadn’t thought of that. That’s a very good question.”
The medical industry and their “oaths” have permanently dropped about 75% in my estimation. I know now, experientially, that we will receive medical care only if and when they have permission from non-medical powers to give it
More than 75% for me. This extends even to the great Mayo Clinic, whose docs pretty much saved my life 12 years ago. They’ve jumped on the COVID fear train, including supporting masking and after receiving an email from them to that affect, I wrote back a scolding letter.
I’ve been confronted with those questionnaires and since I have an autoimmune condition, I could check a few of the boxes. Instead … I lie.

The only time I wear a mask is when I have absolutely no choice. So I have a bunch of cheap disposable masks that I use to express my own propaganda.
On each mask I write the words in very large capital letters “JEW BADGE.” I also draw and paint a bunch of yellow Stars of David all over the mask. I can’t tell you how much this freaks people out.
Every so often someone asks me what a Jew Badge is and I tell them. Not sure how many see the similarities.
I ended a 30 year “friendship” with a work colleague last March when she told me she thought everyone should be tested and have to wear a badge that says they are “negative” in order to go to stores, restaurants, ride on airplanes, or go anywhere at all. I told her it should be a yellow armband with a gold star and she said yes. She is a RINO politically. I was shocked.
I also said,”haven’t you read 1984?” and she said that her school required it but she and her friends made fun of it. I guess some people are shallow and don’t see how what’s happening applies to their lives.

In Wyoming we have returned to the national average of daily Covid infections after experiencing a huge surge during November. The Health Department credits wearing masks. The irony is they are crediting masks for “only” 350 infections per day.
My sister to your south on CO had thoughts of escaping the idioccy there by moving to WY. Guess that option’s out now. Sad.
Oh, and the real irony is not the 350 infection number, but the worry about the number of infections at all. Only death counts carry any weight.
In El Paso, Texas masks are worn in every store. School is remote.The Catholic Churches are closed they might open for Christmas. I am not catholic, our church has been open on Sundays except for the beginning and we meet every Sunday. Attendance is not even close to normal but it is also on Face Book. For 3 or 4 days at Christmas and New Year the county Judge is putting a curfew in place 10 PM to 5 AM. AG Paxton took him to court already and these were thrown out, but he says he has the authority to do it now. Restaurants are open for in-house dining but there is a limit on people. All stores are open but there is a limit to capacity. The mall has people but lines waiting to get into the store to shop. I think families will be meeting for Christmas unless they make the choice not to meet.
We are lucky to live in a reliably red state. We have an indoor mask mandate when social distancing is not possible, but all restaurants, bars, and retail are open with no significant restrictions. Schools have both traditional and online options. Traveled to the north Florida beaches for Thanksgiving with 2 other households. No mask mandates there. No one caught covid. We are careful with handwashing, keep our hands away from our face and comply with any individual business requesting we wear masks. Would not comply with the crap going on in NY, CA, MI.
Chester Co Pa. We are in a supposedly 3 week more lock down to keep us from enjoying Christmas. Wolf needs to be put in prison for his tyranny. Two restaurants in my area refuse to close. Last week there was a meeting of the organization Open PA in York which some of my friends attended to come up with some solutions. It was attended mostly by restaurant and tavern owners. People are sick of this but continue to wear masks and social distance. I go everywhere w My without a mask and usually nothing is said to me. I go to Lancaster Co to grocery shop a lot because they are more lenient and less people with masks. The Amish are much more lax that way.
My family decided to cut down on numbers of people in a house on Christmas and it looks like I will be designated to spending it in my house alone. So be it but I intend on giving them an earful if it comes to that. I’m 75 and they may not even still have me next year. You never know. I don’t intend to die of covid because I take very good care of my immune system. My family have all bought into this fraud and it drives me crazy. They won’t even let me talk about it or try to educate them on it. I’m fed up with it all.
Sometimes it seems our own families are the worst. In my case all of my adult children, the parents of my grandchildren, are Commie Dems and it breaks my heart.
They are good people in every respect except for their stupid insane politics. I keep telling myself to judge them by their actions, not by their words.
My son is an electrical engineer and is very much into the “science” of the Chinese Flu. We have many arguments and of course our conclusions are completely at odds with one another’s.
The problem always comes down to whose expert will you believe. What scientist is telling the truth? Who has better credentials, more PhDs? It’s a tough battle because I never went to college or got a degree and here I am debating with someone (my son) who has the “authorities” to back up his point of view.
My final argument always comes down to the same thing. Even if this FU virus is as bad as they say it is, which it certainly is not, it is not worth destroying our country and the lives of millions of people.
No virus should be able to take away our most precious, God given rights and freedoms, including life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Either you are for freedom and liberty or you’re willing to sacrifice everything for what essentially is the flu.

Over Thanksgiving my husband was feeling so down about it all on an impulse he found a puppy for sale on Craiglist and bought her. Now we are up to our heels in poop and pee, but she has saved him and lifted his spirits totally. Who was it that said if you look into the Abyss too long, the Abyss starts looking back at you?

I just rode my bicycle across our beautiful country from Seattle to Key West over 4 months. I am happy to report that I had very little problems with Corona restrictions. After Seattle, the only place that had heavy restrictions was in Taos, New Mexico. Even there, everything was open, but one had to use a mask outdoors around the Plaza. Still, the Plaza was full of people, and there was a busy outdoors market going on. Yes, in some areas, I had to put a mask on to go into supermarkets, but in many other areas, this was obviously optional despite the signs on the door of the supermarket requiring masks. There are many, many establishments and individuals who are successfully not following (or only partially following) the myriad of dictates out there. Noncompliance fills me with hope.

Savannah, GA. Most businesses require masks and posts signs to remind everyone. Some places really care, others, not so much. There is a city wide mask mandate, but I’m not really sure what it covers other than “public spaces”(the mayor is a TRUE believer; a disciple of the Church of Cuomo). There is also a group, “The Corona Response Team,” that walks around downtown handing out masks to people or writing tickets to the non compliant. I work downtown and have yet to see any of these folks. My guess is, they’re occupied with the more tourist-centric areas and the bars/restaurants of City Market or River Street.
I’m sure the rules about bars and restaurants are the same as in other places. Come in wearing a mask. Go to table wearing a mask. Sit down, call a Corona time out, and try to enjoy food/beverage. Go to bathroom or leave restaurant, it’s game on again. Bloody stupid!
I spoke with a good friend with whom I hadn’t talked with since all this stuff started. He’s a TRUE believer. He told me he would gladly wear a mask everywhere if it meant Corona would end faster. I asked him how that was working out since he lived in a mask mandated yet case spiking area of Virginia. I don’t remember his response as I had been getting lectured to (his dad and brothers are doctors) and I was tuning out. My sister and family also live in the same past of Virginia. Everyone there is nervously awaiting the vaccine/rabies shot as if it’s a cure all. I try to avoid talking about Corona with TRUE believers; it has joined the ranks of Politics and Religion as topics to avoid.
Here in deep blue Austin, Tx. Took our bi-weekly trip to the hill country last week for some shopping and looking at the trees turn. Most people on the street in Fredericksburg don’t wear masks. If you go into a shop or store, they mask up. Places are very busy and crowded. Had lunch in a famous old BBQ joint. Wear masks in line and going to the table. Place was full, no apparent reduction in seating. When we were finishing, another 2 couples were looking for seats at our table, we invited them to sit while we packed up leftovers. Everyone maskless and joking about the masks. When walking out of the restaurant never put on mask. What are they going to do, kick us out.
Our corrupt mayor and is minion Dr. Escott (County medical director) are talking lockdowns and a curfew. They don’t have the authority and Abbott has said no more lockdowns. Used to be a big Abbott supporter but am disappointed in his performance. Hope someone better runs against him. Has given wanna be dictators like our mayor and county leaders too much room to impose stupid rules. That said, lots of business going on.
I live in Austin as well (native Austinite) and I don’t know what the rules are. I see people wearing masks at the grocery store. I keep a mask in my car in case they get whiny about it. I’ve been wearing that same mask since January. I don’t know anyone who’s had COVID. I’ve been to eat out, I’ve been to several hospitals (medical fortresses) and I’ve been out shopping. I will not take this vaccine, even if they mandate it’s use. My new motto is, Trust No One Unless I Know Them Personally. My wife has a compromised immune system and has been tested for COVID four times, all negative. The whole thing is such a farce.

I’ll also second your observation that masking in smaller towns is largely ignored (especially in more conservative areas of the State). They just let people do as they wish and leave them alone. I have long since purposely done my grocery shopping in nearby (even some more distant) small towns in support of that.

I’m in a small Texas town that decreed masks had to be worn about a month ago. PFFFFFTTTT!! Not NO, but HELL NO! Actually, I was only really worried about the local grocery store, but the first day I went in, many of the employees didn’t have masks on either, so I quit worrying about that.
I can’t wear a mask for medical reasons. The only time I’ve had trouble with this was when we were in Rockport and in a small town in S. Texas. I usually ask the idiots if they want me passed out on the floor and a lawsuit on their hands. That usually “inspires” them to stop demanding I put a face diaper on.
Colorado mall outside Denver was filled with masked people almost elbow to elbow in doorways and walkways. Most stores did not have “customer counters”, customers moved freely in and out of stores. Huge flagship store had runners who delivered packages to drive by customers standing side by side wishing “happy holidays” with no attention to social distancing. Local stores in small town close to the mall, people were masked and elbow to elbow shopping. A restaurant in the area were playing “lockdown” too. Seating customers outdoor with employees inside, masks down walking freely through restaurant. Last stop, next town over masks were being used maybe by 50% of busy shoppers.
Louisville, KY – local officials and Gov still pushing the “Facts” and blaming all of the recent cases and deaths on the unpatriotic. Restaurants allowed 50% capacity after they threatened to go ahead and re-open after the last shutdown. Repubs in the legislature with the super majority keep threatening to do something to curtail the Govs powers but doubt they will given the spineless nature of them every time a teacher shows up to protest. AG is doing his best to fight for the normal people but the wuss courts keep shutting the down.
WNY: I was recently scolded by our school nurse that I am not completing the temperature submission and symptom check list before sending my children to school on their two in person days. I told her it was civil disobedience. She was flustered. I give zero (insert bad word).

On a more personal note my brother’s family skipped Thanksgiving at my mom’s and may not be there for Christmas. He is a public school teacher. The communism is being largely directed and enforced through public schools here. I suspect the teachers union tells their employees to be examples to follow.
Forgot to say, public school here is thinking about covid testing students. I have told my kids if that is the case we may go full remote to avoid the test. The educators care more about covid than education.
My brother and his family did the same for Thanksgiving at my house and plan to do the same for Christmas at my parent’s home. Yet they took my parents altogether in one car for a drive- through light festival at one of the local parks.

State of Hawaii. We have two residences, one on Maui, one on Big Island. Due to current 10 -day quarantine required for inter-island travel staying on Big Island only.
Masks and social distancing mandated in public for state and all islands. Restaurants and bars open, some schools/churches open, some closed. 60-70% of state’s income is dependent upon tourism. All tourists must test negative via mandatory flu tests 24-72 hrs. before boarding flights to any island.
I would say 90% of state population is compliant with mandates, see many driving their vehicles;alone, windows up, masks on. Haha.

So a 1.4% case death rate? Not that bad considering far more are actually infected.

North east San Diego county had a judge overturn restrictions for a day until another over ruled him.
Old town Temecula (Riverside County) is pretty much ignoring Herr Newsom. Grocery stores require a mask to go in but perhaps half the shoppers only have their mouth covered and not their nose. I wear a silk cowboy rag and lower it once inside the store.
The local wineries (over 200) are taking a big hit. Many did not pick their crop because they had no place to store their product. Sales are down and inventory is not moving.
So the wineries suffer. Too bad. But think of all the lives saved! /sarc
I live in northern Virginia. The governor down in Richmond has put on more restrictions but it hasn’t affected us up here. Most people use common sense. Our local hospital does have more people hospitalized for Covid but are making it through. I have no intention of getting tested, way too many false positives. We are not traveling to Va beach for xmas as we were down there a while back and my daughter and family were exposed when they visited NJ. since then. We are both high risk, the wife more so being immunal compromised.

No kids in schools (except private ones like Comrade Gavin’s kids go to), no kids sports, no attendance at pro sports, no dining indoor or out, no church services, no gyms open, no movie theaters open, etc. It’s like Communist Russia here. Drove around our small town last night, lots of Christmas lights everywhere but all the restaurants were empty on what would have been one of their busiest nights of the year (Saturday night before Christmas).
Driving to Pittsburgh PA to see family, so my wife and I went for COVID tests to enter Der Fuhrer Wolf’s state. We can present “our papers” if needed.
At home in NC, we participated in golf cart parade held in lieu of the annual Christmas Party, but no one seemed to fear the Rona. People making merry without PPE and paranoia, enjoying friends, the season and a little antifreeze. An outdoor BYOB culminating with the lighting of Christmas tree. Making due in 2020.
I live in Ontario, Canada (eh ?) ?? in a small town a few miles West of Ottawa. Provincial and local governments across Canada are all instituting various forms of lock-downs and social restrictions. In Ontario, the cities around Toronto are being locked down the hardest. Many local business are being forced out of business. The Ontario government is well aware that their actions are crushing small businesses, but do not display any concern for that ? This is not about controlling the spread of the virus … it is about controlling people and the private sector. Public sector workers continue to receive full paycheques and benefits.
Good morning, Merry Christmas from “The Walking Dead” country in GA. No state or local mask mandates, not that I would wear one unless absolutely necessary, as in seeing a doctor or my dentist. What is unfortunate and sad to see is about 95% of the public wearing masks. Even more unfortunate, sad or even funny is to see someone get out of their car, put on a mask just prior to entering a restaurant only to sit and remove the mask. I try to speak to those not wearing masks and congratulate for not doing so, hopefully with some fool nearby listening !!! Sure is fun to stir up S*@%&…..
Melbourne, FL – walked the mall yesterday. Dillards, Macys, and the Christmas bazaar shops (local artisans with really nice/good products by the way) did not require/request masks. Spent most of the time without a face covering on. No one took notice. Local (family owned) restaurants not requiring masks. Some local ordinances (e.g. Melbourne Beach) still forcing reduced seating and face diapers.
All-in-all: great to be in Brevard County!
In the southern area of Sarasota County, mask wearing is still 90%. Lots of lemmings in a heavily Republican portion of the county.
Same here in western NC Trump country. 99% still masking in stores. Cognitive dissonance on steroids.
Here in n AR, it’s hit or miss. Lots of people wearing the masks, lots don’t. Signs requiring masks are ignored by me and no one has said a word to me-could be my rather wild appearance. I still get looks though.
Place where I do some p/t work, no one wears one. At our Christmas party last night, the owner and I agreed it’s all BS.
It just kills me seeing people in their cars or alone in a field walking their dog, wearing a mask.

There is a disconnect between the Phoenix pronouncements in the Sundance’s post and the reality of my life on the ground in a northern Phoenix/Scottsdale suburb. My life is normal. I never see anyone walking around with a mask or social distancing in my neighborhood or from the many people who come to my neighborhood for recreation (bikers, motorcycles, etc). I go to restaurants and eat indoors and have been doing so since the spring. After the end of July the restaurants got busy. Must make reservations and they have reduced the number of tables to allow room in between. Last weekend I saw a couple wearing a mask while walking on a through street surrounded by desert and I thought how odd, they are doing this for exercise in the open air? Funny thing is a neighbor saw them too and was ranting to me about it later.
Trump flags are still up. Yesterday, I went to Walmart (need a mask to get in but once inside plenty of people without or with masks below their noses) and saw two Trump bumper stickers but no Biden. No Biden flags by houses. They took them down. Friday, I went to my doctor’s office. He said very few cases in his practice and those are very mild. A few cases have been hospitalized and then kicked out the next day. I go to yoga classes and water aerobics, both outside and no masks.
So I don’t know why the disconnect. I don’t get the Phoenix leftist paper and we cut cable four years ago so I am not polluted by local news except for local conservative radio talk shows. I think this is all political. I think Governor Ducey is bought and paid for as are many other local authorities of both parties. Our Secretary of State is clearly a big lefty. Our State Health Services lady is just an idiot. The local reporters that I have heard at Governor press conferences never ask the logical, people-want-to-know questions, they just sneer at Ducey because they see themselves as to the left of him and he is a Republican after all and demand that he do more.
I do not know what is going on on the Reservations. Rona supposedly attacks Native Americans more than white folk. It is possible that our numbers come from the Reservations. They closed the Reservation at the height. I don’t know if its open now. On the other hand, I have a Navajo in my family and we hug and her ground reports do not match the rhetoric.
For the most part, I only go to “prohibition rules” shops and stores. Big boxes don’t badger over masks, and I’ll only shop in places that Enforce the orders (only walking in). Several shops I used to frequent have lost a lot of revenue by Being the state’s mask enforcers.

Indoor dining has not been specifically suspended in blueMA.
However, our ever-creative lunatic RINO Charlie “Parker” suspended it de facto a couple of weeks ago by decreeing that patrons must keep their masks on at the tables all the time when not eating.
He effectively removed all pleasure from the experience of indoor dining.
I still patronize restaurants by takeout as much as we would have without this, and also supply the tips they would have received if we had been inside.
