Relatives in communist hawaii told me that their corrupt state does not even have traditional polling places set up. It’s ALL mail in ballots or you can drop the completed ballot to a drop off box – which can be at a park or other unsecured place.

Yes, Hawaii has gone to vote by mail. But I voted in person last week at one of the few sites available because I will NEVER vote by mail but I wanted to vote for President Trump. State employees still get a holiday though for election day. The explanation for that was that many of them volunteer at polling sites so they needed the day off. So why do they still need the day off if there aren’t any polling sites?

Hawai’i passed a bill in late Nov. 2019 that all Primary and General election votes would be mail-in. This was pre China Flu. They stated it was due to only 20% of the population going to the polls. Their incentive they stated was to get more of the population to vote, yeah, right.
We put ours in a drop box in front of the police station last week. We found out today they did have 2 polling stations open on each side of the island we have a home on. Each island in Hawai’i is a separate county. They decided to have a minimum of one polling station open for each county, however did not make that public knowledge.
FWIW Oregon has had all mail-in elections for a couple of decades. It is accompanied by pretty tight rules. All ballots have to be received by close of election on election day (11PM today), postmarks don’t count. The outer envelope must be signed by the voter, the signature has to match the registration signature on file.
The Republican Secretary of State cites data showing low rate of attempted fraud. It probably helps that forging signatures, etc., are felonies.
We have ballot drop-off points too. Most are at public libraries, government offices and other places where ballots are kept under surveillance vs. an emptly parking lot somewhere. My wife and I prefer delivering our ballots to a drop-off point, don’t trust the postal service to “handle with care”.
One more thing, the county offers a “ballot tracking service”. They’ll send an email when the ballot is received at the elections office and “accepted” as valid. It’s reassuring to know it got there.
