if one scrolls down below the map one can see that it is only traditionally ‘blue’ states being called for Biden and traditionally ‘red’ states being called for Trump –
and we know that President Trump won last time, so by showing momentarily Biden ahead, my thinking is, those States already called for Biden (the solid, not faint blue) ones, were expected to go blue anyway – so it’s not really, at this time, any States that went for Trump last time have switched.
The ones in the faint blue that went for Trump last time, have not been called at all, so this appears to be media hype, and voters on the west coast are still voting, and we still don’t know if those States already called are only the early and mail-in ballots and not from today’s turnout.

If you’ve followed prior election coverage, what matters is where in a state one candidate’s lead comes from. Example … I could project FL for Trump with a 55-45 Biden lead based on 10% ofthe vote, if those votes all came from Miami Dade, and Trump lost that area 60-40 in 2016. Because he’s doing much better this time (this is a hypothetical, not known) The analysts have bellwether counties (that seldom lie) and they will delta off the known 2016 data for individual counties to extrapolate to the state. So what matters in the early going, is how Trump is doing IN ANY PARTICULAR PLACE compared to 2016.. In close states, you’ll need well over 50& of the vote count to past that type of analysis into raw totals.
