Back in the day starting in 1969, my old man, a Marine Corps Seargant, who lost half his platoon in the Pacific Theatre, specifically at Guadal Canal, joined the John Birch Society. My father had some of their literature, which I read as a teenager in the 1970’s. I was interviewed to become a member back in 1995. Shortly afterwards I had a life changing accident and was not able to join.
My father had some literature from this group too. He saw Communism coming through Colleges in 1969. I wish I had taken his advice more to heart.
My grandfather as well. I remember how we heard nothing but negative and terrible things about the JBS. As a teenager I wondered about my grandfather because I watched “the news” on tv and thought maybe he was part of a “fringe” element.

I think that lots of people didn’t like it when the USSR experiment was dismantled by its owners. The Union was never militarily defeated, but its owners gave up. Thereafter, though, Russia didn’t fall apart. It didn’t de-militarize or de-industrialize or “go green.” It made overtures to become a closer part of Europe, but when Europe rebuffed them it went its own way.
Europeans, however, have never given up on “Operation Unthinkable,” which was Winston Churchill’s hare-brained idea to attack Russia (USSR) immediately(!) after “V-E Day.” Fortunately, wiser heads turned him out of office instead. Meanwhile: Victoria Nuland published a map which showed Russia broken up into forty-odd little rump countries, based on known natural-resource boundaries. She gave each one a name, and a flag!
Europeans have forgotten WW1 and WW2. They simply don’t remember what War costs. Ask a British schoolboy what “Blitzkreig” means and they probably don’t know. However, Russia will never allow its citizens to forget. On “Victory Day,” the “Ghost Regiment” marches once more, and even Putin has a family member’s black-and-white photograph to somberly display. No one else came anywhere close to the price that Russia paid in blood.
To Europe, “War” is in fact a normal state of affairs. It is very unusual for this land not to have engaged in a major conflict in ninety years. They’re itching to do it again, even though they have no idea.
I am glad to see this thread. I know somebody knows better than me. Russia is saying it intercepted 660 Ukraine drones Friday morning.
OK, I know Ukraine has gotten a crap load of funding from everyone including us.
Just tell me how they have such a capacity to do this and why do we seem so far behind in this technology. Or are we? It is floating out there about our capacity to strike back against Iran and what happens afterward.
