We do not want to adopt the leftist attitude of perpetual condemnation for any and all past action. It is a truth of life that the opportunity to grow, learn, and undertake change is one the best aspects of time.
Even before PDJT appointed him to State Dept, it seemed to me that Rubio was engaged in an awakening. Hard to put my finger on it, but was adjusting my evaluation of him to what seemed to be happening as I listened to him. It seemed particularly evident during the presidential campaign when Rubio was contributing effectively to the rallies.
We can fool ourselves to thinking that we are helping, and then to realize that we not helping, but rather enabling. Happens.

Probably too late for you to see response, but agree this is a question. The murky fog about DOJ and overall insider privilege makes evaluation of this hard to fathom. Given all the issues and corruptions, taking on Warner is seeking to cut down a very tall, very thick tree indeed.
Just clearing out the underbrush to get to the tree is an immense task. The problems are so thick, that one has to pick the targets. Going after the Comey, Brennan, Nuland cabal seems like the first large target to be assaulted, and that will be no small task — even if one assumes that the Bondi Blondi has the skills or integrity to take it on.

It is interesting to me that I believe there is a back story to a lot of Trump’s moves in the Middle East: China. China had been working diligently to insert itself everywhere in the Middle east it could, in every country it could including Israel but also including Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and of course Iran. Trump has been making counter moves that have pushed Beijing aside in the Middle East. I think this might account for his apparent new found love affair with Qatar, the funder of all the jihadist terrorism around the world. If any country is the enemy of the US it is Qatar, but I think Trump has had in mind remaking the Middle East without China being the primary world power behind these countries. This is just a guess on my part.
So it also seems with Maduro, Trump has decided the US will no longer ignore it while China destroys our people through the drug trade via Maduro’s psychopathic drug pushers.
So what seems on the surface a simple US-Venezuela issue has much deeper geostrategic significance.
