President Donald Trump delivers a speech at the memorial for Charlie Kirk in Glendale, Arizona.
President Donald Trump called Charlie Kirk a “martyr for American freedom” during the service. “He’s a great American hero, that’s what he is,” Trump said, adding that he believed that the Turning Point USA founder was a patriot. “America loved Charlie Kirk,” the president said, adding that history will remember Kirk’s legacy. A disappointing speech by President Trump. I thought he went off in too many directions. In some instances he made it about himself. Why bring up tariffs and vaccines at a memorial? Tucker, Rubio, and Miller were excellent.
At first, I somewhat had the same reaction as you, but I changed my mind, because, yes, this was a memorial service for Charlie Kirk, but it was also a turning point for TPUSA.
There are two entirely different aspects to the situation. President Trump spoke to both scenarios. Those attendees are grieving for Charlie, but they are also grieving for this turn of events for the organization they fully support. By addressing those political issues, President Trump is giving the attendees a focus for their pathway forward. He’s giving them purpose. He was stepping in the gap for a fallen leader’s organization until Erika’s leadership takes hold.
For that moment, it might seem odd, but those remarks will infuse purpose in those attendees. I think President Trump was quite sensitive and astute in his eulogy for Charlie and support of TPUSA. He is grieving this loss personally. Don’t forget that.
Well said. Thank you
Yup, Kirk was the leader of a growing and powerful movement, Trump’s leader of a powerful country that desperately needs to find its sense of unity and purpose. Different objectives, though intrinsically linked, his cabinet members can support and focus fully the former, but he has to also concentrate on the latter.
Trump’s never publicly subtle in his commentary, but his method of messaging is surprisingly so, the moment with Erica was worth a thousand carefully crafted words, due to its spontaneity and humanity, highlighting the gulf between the two parties even more starkly.
Well stated.
I heard him loud and clear that all of these things are things Charlie cared about deeply and was very involved in. My take was that Charlie has had a seat at the President Trump table and walked the halls of the White House quite frequently, assisting in making policy. Erika will fill those shoes, but because of her husband’s prior involvement she already has a deep relationship with President Trump, which will now take on a more hands on level.
President Trump’s eulogy was heartfelt and good. He has personal aspects, and as the leader of our country, he has presidential aspects to his speech. He is grieving personally and as a president.
Thank you, President Trump, for your heartfelt comments and support of Erika and all at TPUSA. Truly, it was Charlie Kirk’s life that was the Turning Point for the USA. It was God’s will. Charlie Kirk answered God’s call.
Isaiah 6:8 Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?”
And I said, “Here am I. Send me!”
The photo with Elon is of President Trump, exemplifying dialogue with someone who strongly disagrees with you on some issues in the same manner in which Charlie Kirk did it. Charlie Kirk posted a tweet with his desire they reconcile.
Blessings to All!
I thought Trump sounded like Trump. Keeping his emotions at bay in order to be truly presidential and fatherly as an entire arena cried as Erika hugged him. So unlike how the Dems try to characterize him!
Charlie told people in early 2024 that he was “going to leave it all on the field and hold nothing back” as they sought to overcome a stolen election with a too big to rig strategy. I thought it was awesome of God in His providence that Charlie got to witness election night, rejoice these last 6 months of the admin as they kept so many promises. Charlie was with him all the way, defending his tariffs on his radio show, excited about the deportations of cartels etc. It was fitting that Erika said that Charlie would have wanted us to continue to fight for family values, and fitting for Trump to say that they were going to continue to win, even against Big Pharma. Remember people like Steven Bonnell were inciting violence online last week, hoping to stop this movement. Trump is reassuring the world that they are just getting started!
I also thought Trump was himself in admitting in a non-PC way that he has a hard time forgiving his enemies and speaking in soft terms about the “radical left lunatics” but maybe Erika will talk to him about that. Once again, bringing the non-pretending blue collar MAGA group who don’t go to church into the circle and inferring they can all improve together.
Agree with all except the original poster. PDJT never disappoints me, even if the reason why appears in the long run, and he did not disappoint me yesterday at all.
Benny Johnson was just on the Charlie Kirk show. He and the group brought forth the Biblical basis of the difference between an individual Christian’s purpose to forgive, and a Christian with government’s power to punish and defeat evil.
That difference was shown between Erika’s amazing personal courage in her faith, and PDJT’s passion against his “opponent.”
As President, his opponent is, at root, the devil, and I believe he knows it.
Amen President Trump! A man and leader for this time. God willing this is OUR turning point in the USA for goodness, righteousness, and a return to our Christian roots. May it be so.
That picture is more than a 1000 words. Deep, deep love, comfort and shared grief in a simple hug. It says everything we need to know.
Sigh. I thought I had stopped reaching for the tissues…
Thank you.
