President Trump gave an impromptu presser to the assembled press pool on the tarmac at joint base Andrews.
One of the interesting topics noted was the South Korean auto battery plant in GA, and the illegal workers without visas that were busted by ICE. President Trump takes a very pragmatic position, and then later sent a Truth Social post highlighting the issue. WATCH:
(VIA TRUTH SOCIAL) – “Following the Immigration Enforcement Operation on the Hyundai Battery Plant in Georgia, I am hereby calling on all Foreign Companies investing in the United States to please respect our Nation’s Immigration Laws. Your Investments are welcome, and we encourage you to LEGALLY bring your very smart people, with great technical talent, to build World Class products, and we will make it quickly and legally possible for you to do so. What we ask in return is that you hire and train American Workers. Together, we will all work hard to make our Nation not only productive, but closer in unity than ever before. Thank you for your attention to this matter! DONALD J. TRUMP, PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA”

Why are these companies not receiving any punishment for hiring illegals? When citizens break the law, we’re fined and/ or jailed. This double standard must end.
ICE captured about 40% of that plant’s workforce. Hyundai is losing millions of dollars in production value per day right now, plus they will be on the hook for legal expenses. That is how you punish a company of unethical money-grubbers.
No, you enforce 8 USC SEC 1324 which has been on the books for decades. Once the employers start going to jail and fined the rest will take care of itself.
The Illegals in the construction trades here in Florida are bold as brass now that they got the memo that they are protected as long as they work in the service industries.
They would avoid eye contact during the “Biden” Reign Of Terror as 6 or 7 of them would giddily pile out of a jacked up diesel on expensive rims towing a concrete mixer and forms at the local corner store for salty/sugary snacks and ice cold 18 packs of Modelo.
Now they strut around like game cocks, eye f****** oblivious white girls in workout gear pumping gas, shoulders back, head up and eyes forward.
They hold all the cards now.
When will Brave New MAGA see the Reality Gap between the Official Narrative and the-boots-on-the-ground experience of Everyday Trumpers?
Nowhere is the divide between the Republican’t Investor Class “Shut Up, Everything’s Great Crowd” and the “We Didn’t Vote For This” Everday Normal trying to keep the lights on than here in the Sunshine State.
I work pipeline construction and Heavy Hiway through out the states. I see them everyday. The labor unions put them to work. Recently got called to a Teamster’s pipeline job in Appleton, WI. Discovered I was a replacement for someone that only spoke Spanish. Guy couldn’t understand directions, so they got rid of him.
The really scary part is one wants to admit just how many working class Americans have been taken out of circulation from 50 years of hard dope and just a couple years of the Death Vakks.
It’s not just a “we cant find Americans who want to work” or “Americans don’t want to get their hands dirty” or “Americans don’t want to work for that kind of money” type of problem anymore, the real problem is we’ve had an entire demographic disappear and most pretend as though they cannot see it.
Stand your ground law
I agree. There needs to be severe consequences for an employer’s knowing violation or reckless non-compliance with applicable immigration laws. There are probably sections in the statute for this very situation that are not being fully enforced.
Even if there is an I-9 trail, the knowing or recklessly indifferent employer needs to suffer a consequence.
Just another complete failure of Fox News Personality Pam Bondi, who I believe is charged with the civil enforcement authority in this area. The only thing that seems to ever arouse her is a studio microphone. She cannot be fired soon enough, IMO.
Caving to the hounds when Matt Gaetz was first nominated….Huge mistake. Trump should have gone to the mat for him.
Probably a local American sub contactor. More prominent in the home building and renovation.
Also running communion lines, into oh pick any federal building that foreign or domestic enemies would want to listen in on.
Need to do the same F’ing thing to the scholars. Pack the little says up and ship them out.
Amen, V.
<“Probably a local American sub cont[r]actor”
Reporting has been poor, but I kind of doubt it. I suspect LG/Hyundai use Korean construction contractors, who in turn hire Korean subs to do the work. Koreans are given one-year contrcts to work overseas and get dorm housing/cafeteria-style meals.
It’s time to institute random I-9 audits of every medium – large sized company in the country, along with stiff fines and penalties.
Audit everyone. As soon as you put a cap on the number of employees, shady outfits downsize to an acceptable, under regulated payroll.
The perspective from South Korea.

There are plenty of Americans who can do that work and could be hired quicker than the visa process. The point of them doing business in America was to bring jobs to America not visa holders
Do we have any battery plants here? It would have to be on the job training for the machine set up and repair. Having only a few highly skilled Koreans training Americans. We have to learn fast and only a few visa workers should be allowed to stay and continue training, not 300!
Don’t know, but we have friends in Montgomery, AL and it’s full of Koreans, even though Hyundai plant has been in operation for years. But not production workers AFAIK.
Yep.
Using the B-1 business visa as an all-purpose way to staff their plant.
Ain’t gonna work anymore under DJT.
Lie when you apply…
You’re gonna go
Bye-bye
As I understand it they were under pressure to get the plant built and running. That is all but stopped now. Both sides are working towards the solution.
No different than a Japanese automaker building an assembly plant in the US and bringing in Japanese workers and staff to train the US workers.
B-1 is for meetings and consultations.
Not for the purpose they were using it for.
Yes, a company can bring in people to train local (US) workers… but 300 isn’t a few.
And if a Japanese company isn’t following the law… they may be suffering the consequences as well.
I thought this quote was telling as to the dishonesty and disrespect.
“The subcontractor staff who were detained were not doing basic construction but installing and inspecting line equipment, fixing defects and breakdowns. They are often called in to urgently recalibrate and adjust conditions — work that lasts less than a couple of days. Who is going to apply for an H-1B or employment visa just for that?” another industry official said on condition of anonymity.
That is like saying a software engineer is only fixing bugs or writing code that takes a day or two so why apply for an H1B. They are obviously doing a long term job that consists of tasks that may, or may not, take a short period of time. They think we’re retarded, and us non-retarded Americans are fed up.
re: “were not doing basic construction but installing and inspecting line equipment”
My brother Tim did this for Ford, usually for a model change-over, during a Holiday weekend or other production slack period. Ford would fly out a crew of engineers for the work.

MAPA – Make America Productive Again
PDJTs unhappiness with the current political impeachment machinations in SK may have contributed in the decision to raid Hyundai.
Here’s a thought. Instead of bringing people here to train, why not let our people go to that country to train. Surely working in a factory that has a bunch of knowledgeable people to train ours is better than to have a few come here. That way, Americans can be trained on many levels. Basically, they want to stay longer or forever and we are left with untrained Americans with the excuse ‘they can’t learn’.
Why do you think they stopped letting kids work in real jobs (while attending high school) a few of decades ago? I was typing annual car registrations for tags for the state of Ohio when I was 14, under my dad’s social security number. It was to dumb them down. This is the result.
That does happen albeit not at the same scale.
That’s why tech companies in the US constantly fly people to Asia. They train over here too.
I thought these were construction jobs. What sort of special skills are necessary that 300 workers have to be imported. 🤔
South Korea is fast becoming just like North Korea. They should be treated the same.
<“South Korea is fast becoming just like North Korea.”
What is your basis for this?
Wait – what? He had not heard of the woman from the Ukraine who was stabbed multiple times?

“Liberal media and politicians have been accused of staying silent on the savage murder of a young Ukrainian refugee on a North Carolina train — after a career criminal with no fewer than 14 arrests was charged with her murder.“
The stabber winding up for the stab –
I am constantly impressed with is his grasp of world issues. He jumps from subject to subject, and if he doesn’t know he admits it will find out.
What I still am amazed at are those who still. say Biden could have done same thing.
Its well past the time to fix the cartel, illegal immigrant scam,
Mexican cartels are increasing their presence along the US border, but as a massive military force under directives from President Trump approaches Mexico with orders to ‘take no prisoners’, it appears their time may be running out. Journalistic report. Includes news footage for purposes of commentary, criticism and analysis.
Normal people living within 100 miles of the border with Mexico haven’t been able to relax and enjoy their lives for 30 years.
They are subjected to trespassing, home invasions, theft of equipment, livestock killed, dead people found in their fields or human excrement on their lettuce and other crops ruined.
It is insane to protect drug smugglers and human trafficers over and above hardworking people trying to provide for their familes. But we have allowed this through the last 40 years with a foolish legislative branch more concerned with THEIR income and petty fights with each other than doing any work.
This problem goes allot deeper. There is not a Major Foreign Business that does not move to the US and LEGALLY staff ALL its key positions, top to bottom with Employees from the home nation of the Business.
In this instance it made the news because the Business assumed Open Borders was still in effect.
Also, among the most discriminatory and nepotistic people I know, when it comes to hiring, are those of Asian descent …. as soon as they gain a foothold in management positions they only hire those of similar ethnic background. The most recent example being the Walmart Executive Fired for taking bribes from Indian Hiring Agencies. He is just the tip of the Iceberg at Walmart HQ in Bentonville, AR. I see it first hand every time I visit the grand kids.
Reminds of the movie “Gung Ho!” with Michael Keaton – a 1986 American comedy film directed by Ron Howard and starring Michael Keaton. The story portrays the takeover of an American car plant by a Japanese corporation.
