Russian President Vladimir Putin answered questions from the media earlier. One of the questions was about President Trump against the backdrop of peace efforts, the middle-east conflict and Ukraine.
President Putin’s response is very interesting. I am placing here as a datapoint for my own analysis without reading too much into it at the moment. All of the points are converging in one direction. WATCH:

I sense we are, after the horrible policies of the last 33 years, finally coming to a rapprochment with Russia. A meeting of the minds that hould have taken place in 1993! (IMHO) The opportunity for a peace dividend is on the horizon.
Russia should be our partner after the iron curtain came down but nato has continued to threaten and encroach on their sphere of influence. I think President Trump understands that. We would not allow Chinese troops to be stationed in Canada or Mexico without a serious confrontation. We and nato have caused this war. Hopefully President trump can end it and bring a new partnership with Russia.
Who is “we?” WE haven’t had a say in this matter, or any other, until The Boss, Trump.

Could it be that Europe sees the unlimited development and economic possibilities that could drive Russia into a bigger trade nation with the US than all of Europe. With all the old laws and regulations in the EU it is difficult to invest where Russia is akin to a “wild west in the east” and could outshine the EU in the future.
Is the EU jealous of Russia’s unlimited resources and hard working population? Is the EU jealous of Russia as a country because the EU is not really a country but a made up conglomerate with no real nationalism?

We, the spectators, were largely born into an adversarial opinion on The USSR, aka Russia. Our culture was built around this intense rivalry.
We were not fully capable of discarding all of that long ago because that mistrust and rivalry defined us all and informed us that we are the good guys. They run on “destroy the other side” because the cultural hate is what have them their power!

I really don’t understand the global hostility towards Russia, but here are some assumptions.
I assume NATO does what they do because, for NATO to exist they have to have an enemy.
I assume that groups trying to dismantle Russia are just greedy and what to carve up their natural resources.
I assume that decades of conflict in Eastern Europe are the basis for a lot of the current problems.
I assume that decades of conflict in the Middle East are the basis for a lot of the current problems.
The strange part about all of this is if these countries just worked together, they would all be better off.
The current situation gets them nowhere. (see Canada for more detail) Israel is busy losing their goodwill around the world, Canada is turning into a socialist nightmare, and Mexico is a country ruled by drug cartels.
I guess it is a combination of greed and lust for power that causes all of this.
A lot of leaders and countries need to look into mirrors and ask themselves if this is really how they want to live.
In other words, Russia wants to be aligned with USA but they, and Trump, just can’t jump into it. They/we need to rebuild it so that it lasts.
What needs to be built here in the US, is a positive and constructive foundation of trust that will last beyond Trump, reassuring Russia that whoever wins isn’t going to renege on what gets painstakingly built.

I am just not excited that Putin is saying nice things about President Trump. At this point, Mr. Putin should produce something meaningful. How about an act of good will to go along with the platitudes–take back your Russian Mob like South America is taking back their criminals.
President Trump is an honest broker for the United States. There can be great things achieved for Russia and America. President Putin should make hay while the sun shines–do something good for a change. Putin is not young anymore. Time is running out to be remembered as more than Stalin or Lenin.
To be the greatest leader of Russia is entirely attainable for Mr. Putin.
Think of it as a cold war byproduct. While all of the public mistrust of a foreign country enabled massive spending and other corruption to flourish in the US, what makes you think it’s different when other entities in other countries do the same?
We, individuals and small groups continue to think we are the good guys by recognizing and separating ourselves from the bad elements within our country. We recognize our county’s disease and isolate it to heal the body.
Why do you see corrupt elements of Russia as representative of Russia? It’s cold war thinking. It’s clear by now the thing holding us all back is based on what we identify as the bad guys.
This is a core reason why a Christian “God First” mindset is what keeps all worldly matters in better perspective. If your whole world and identity is based on “we are not the ones we hate” then you will find you become very dependent on having someone to hate in order to maintain your own sense of who you are.
With that in mind, doesn’t that help you understand the radical Democrats today? Their TDS is the cancer within themselves fighting back hard against what will cure them.
See the smaller corruptive elements as separable from the good. That includes Russian organized crime. The more I understand this the more I understand Trump and Putin. Transactional Trump holds no genuine grudges. Patient Putin is still waiting for the people of the US to realize what he figured out long ago as a former KGB officer.
Thank you for your response. I will just say that my comments were based solely on facts. The number of nukes, the operational modus operandi of the Russian Mob. The fact that South American countries are accepting their Cartel members back that have the same criminal pattern as the Russian Mob. Lenin and Stalin regimes are well documented….as well as the millions of Russians that died during their time in power. In light of the low bar that these men left, it would not be hard for Mr. Putin with some 11th hour positive and honest endeavors to be scene as the greatest leader is attainable for him.
