This is a REAL problem. Some religions keep people in the 3rd world.
I work for a company which is owned by a religious non-profit and the non-profit regularly reports on numbers of people who have joined with the faith (Christian) and the LARGEST number of people are coming from India. Why are Indians becoming Christian in increasing numbers? It almost seems logical as to the reason why! To advance your life by advancing your religion, religious beliefs and religious affiliations.
India does not represent “peak human civilization” to me.
But someone else might say “hey, there are LOTS of atheists in the first world! Doesn’t THAT seem like where everything is heading and doesn’t that mean Christianity is merely the final step to atheism?” NOPE! It’s not. Christianity maintains civilization and atheism without the moral foundation of Christianity is simply hubris and effectively jumping off of the peak of human advancement.
I’m actually atheist in the sense that my mind doesn’t work like regular people. But I can’t escape the value of Christian moral foundations as a means of making humans into PEOPLE and as a means of making people members of a civil society and thus expanding the potential of what people can be on their own.
Humans are animals. People are more than animals. Christian moral foundational society is more than people.
That’s where I’m at right now as a functional model for human progress. Other moral foundational forks do not lead to human progress or advancement and actually demonstrate themselves as a point where human developmental advancement halts into a loop where advancement seems to stop “in time.” Once could include Judaism with this ideal but I disagree because only Christian human society allows most for new ideas… for better or for worse where Judaism is pretty steadfast against human experimentalism where Christian tends to allow it and thus progress continues a great deal faster while Judaism will fork in order to adapt leaving far fewer forks of Judaism to remain viable while the non-forked Judaisms remain stagnant even while still connected to the whole of Judaism. Islam is and remains a death cult of submission or die at its core and can never really change unless it decides to forego its founding which it cannot.

It’s funny to me that there should be two marriages but not completely wrong. In another comment on this larger thread, I mentioned I went to Japan and had fun dressing up as a samurai. And while there are “traditional Japanese weddings” as well (and I think they are aesthetically pleasing) most Japanese simply go with the Western Christian form of marriage ceremony complete with the western suit for the man and the white dress for the woman.
Once again, first-world is EQUAL to the European Christian culture. There is no equal. In all other cultures, there is a large collection of things they have to STOP DOING in order to even move in the direction of peak human civilization.
And we’ve seen countless atheistic notions of civilization and they are ALL horrifying and corrupt because they are based entirely on the notion of a human being as centralized power. The USA alone has maintained a culture which is based on “something greater that humans” morally if not religiously. In the Catholic Church marriage is a sacrament and thus subject to the norms of canon law. In general marriage of a Catholic outside the sacrament is a problem.
A far as the existence of the USA, it was born in an era of dispute between the Anglican theology which largely followed traditional Catholic except for the authority of the Monarch as regards church governance, and reformed theology. Of course the overthrow of James II in favor of an expressly protestant monarchy elevated the position of the established church.
I would argue it was the second great awakening period of revivalism in the 1820s-1830s that gave rise to the Methodist and Baptist denominational confession as intrinsically “American” churches and marked the real development of USA.

Her mom was still in the Philippines and couldn’t be present (something about weird, biased and preferential US immigration laws, which would allow any European and citizens of most Asian countries a visa, but wouldn’t allow the mother of the bride of a US naval officer, a visa to spend a week in the USA), but her sisters, Aunt and Uncle, and other members her US based family were there.
I specifically dressed in a Filipino Barong and carried out certain Filipino traditions, in respect for her culture, her family, her childhood dreams, and was proud to do so. Why would you expect JD Vance to do anything differently?

I am 10000% with you on this…I have done a lot of deep diving on the H1B nightmare including having a husband in Tech that has lost out on jobs over 14 months. I also see this up close and personal in my job. There is a lot of information about the Indian corruption in the Visa world, everything from bribery to lying about credentials, to 2 people holding the same jobs with 1 Visa…I have grave grave concerns about this…I fear some type of “deal” had been made to allow more H1B Indian visa’s in our country..they have literally taken over the entire Tech industry now they are taking over the trucking….what sacrifice for a hedge vs China…
Agreed. I’ve been up close and personal with the corrupt Indian-US tech industry. They don’t do business by American (and Judeo-Christian) rules. The USA tech industry is an irresistible money pot for corrupt businesses.
Example: I went to work for a US company, whose partners were 50% US citizen, 50% Indian (or perhaps Indian American citizens). Good company. I was hired on to expand a certain technical Oracle based practice. I hired over a dozen remote engineers, and turned over management to another American manager. Company division grew while I developed it (from 3 clients to about 44) in about a year.
When I joined, I asked my Indian partner/manager, why we didn’t target Indian technical engineers. He absolutely disparaged them, their work ethic. He grew up in America, and was about 45% “American” and perhaps 55% “Indian Hindu”, again, a very good man. I actually told him, “Hey, legally, we can’t say that or do that” i.e. operate with that kind of hiring bias.
After I was there two years, the company was sold to a huge, well known, Indian Corporation, with the Partners under contract to remain with the company for a certain period of time (1 year?). From that point on, every one of my American technical staff was fired for cause, and replaced with either an Indian-American, or direct H1B. I hired a very good group of American staffers, we grew that Company’s division into a powerhouse that attracted enough attention for the Partners to sell out. Then, the parent company didn’t just lay off Americans, they sought out reasons to fire them for cause, leaving them with no benefits or unemployment insurance. They devastated careers of these US Citizens. Eventually, I also resigned under threat of immediate termination for cause. I’m leaving out important portions of this story, but you understand the gist.
This is standard operating procedure, i.e. SOP, for many Indian technical companies coming into dominate the US market. It would not be possible, without the advocacy and cooperation of my US Congressional Rep and Senators, and yours (over the past 40+ years). THERE’S YOUR TARGET. The rest of it, i.e. H1B employees, Indian Companies, US Technical companies, are just the “chaff” by comparison.
Your government sold your husband out, and me, and many other technical professionals in the USA. They sold out the entire industry.

Agreed 100%, and I was one of those US tech workers who’s career was injured by the USA’s H1B program. (I was actually turned away for certain, very specialized contract jobs I was called to interview for, as soon as they realized I wasn’t a US citizen, stating plainly “I’m sorry, this job is reserved only for H1B applicants”. Yeah, that bias is 100% there, and yeah, the system is corrupt, from A to Z.)
ON THE OTHER HAND, remember, all participants of the H1B program are NOT “criminal, evil people”. Remember, they aren’t illegal aliens. They are LAWFUL foreign nationals, coming to the USA to make their fortune, the vast majority, with entirely good intentions. I have Indian friends who have become US citizens, their kids have served in the US armed services, they are LOYAL Americans, and we frequently forget that.
There is so much wrong with the corrupted US immigration system, most of it expressly allowed and even encouraged, by our corrupt (s)elected Congressional Representatives, Senate and House (and many if not most, fraudulently elected), that it’s easy to hate on every foreign national. That’s not just. That’s not righteous. That’s not good for America, and it’s horrible for America’s LOYAL immigrants.
Fix the system. Sent the corrupt perps to jail who have stolen their way to political power. Kick out every illegal immigrant (well, at least any who have been here less than 10 years, and/or have criminal records or associations with criminal elements). However, we can’t “hate” on them all as a class.
I’m neutral on JD Vance. Lots of positives, huge positives. Seems like a good man. Has some suspect past connections with H1B proponents and the tech industry, but I would never tarnish him for that. I’m not against the tech sector– I’m a retired IT nerd. The h1b guys I worked with at my various assignments weren’t bad people and they weren’t fence jumpers. On the other hand, a very large percentage of them weren’t anywhere near as qualified on the ground as they were on paper. I saw a tremendous number of native Americans turned aside for these h1b folks over the years. Between that, and the game playing with the numbers, has always stuck in my craw.
Yes, many – most! – of the H-1B visa holders and their families aren’t ‘bad’ people – they have followed the legal procedures to come here.
But the system needs reform – badly.

H-1B visa.
One… is that it replaces an American citizen with a foreign ‘indentured servant’.

(Legal Permanent Resident – Green Card).

So, you get 2 jobs filled by foreign workers.
Plus, any H-4 children can be admitted.
And… any children born to the couple here in the US are USCs.
So… one single solitary H-1B visa most probably represents
4 people:
Visa worker
Spouse
2 children
So… 65,000 H-1B visas per year is really a potential
65,000 x 4= 260,000 entrants to US.
(For simplicity, make it 250,000).
In 10 years, those 65,000 H-1B visas a year…
Do not represent 650,000 ‘temporary workers’ (as is implied by advocates), but
2.5 Million additions to the population… that are PERMANENT –
Legally!
That’s without the chain migration of other relatives of the visa holder.
A sneaky (yet currently legal) way to increase immigration.
In 20 years… the H-1B visa program can bring in over 5 million permanent additions to the nation’s population… and most likely, even more than that.
It also means that certain sectors of the economy – such as IT – are permanently changed, in terms of corporate culture:
“No native/born Americans need apply.”
H-1Bs are not some ‘wonder workers’ who are

For that, we have the O-1 visa – for extraordinary accomplishment in a field.
The H-1B MAY – in certain, very narrow,

But NOT how it currently operates.
Access to H1Bs are important both to India and groups within the US. Garden variety H1Bs aren’t superstars – they’re just cheaper than US citizens.
H1B reform might be sacrificed for geo-political reasons – get on well with India against China.
I’m a software engineer, with 40 years experience; my rates haven’t changed upward for more than 30 years. My experience matches my associates. This is due to government policy over many decades to suppress those wages.
By suppressing US engineer salaries, you’ll get less US engineers.

As it stands, all we will have to replace H1-B people with are mostly RETIRED PEOPLE. The tradition of TRAINING the younger generations has been LOST and needs to be restored. What do we do in the mean time?
We have to MIGRATE our systems back, not simply cut the current system off as many would demand. We have to migrate and restore and that transition takes some time.

The USA clearly has a problem with the crime rate amongst a certain population group – where you may find your 11% figure is actually 13% unless abortion clinics have been more active than usual recently. Had you been reading the full range of comments in this section you might have noticed than some commenters have equated people from India with people from Pakistan, where in fact the the countries have very different proportions of religious groups (Pakistan is 97% Muslim whereas India is only 14% adherents of that religion) and I also pointed out that France has virtually the same percentage of Muslim people as India. A statistic I did not mention is that 5% of the USA’s medical practitioners are Muslim whilst Muslims are less than 2% of the population. My personal feeling is that the US has a much bigger problem with its judges than it does with people of the Muslim religion. I hope that satisfactorily responds to your challenge.

Just from my personal family experience with India (Indians) and Pakistan (Pakistanis):
I went to school with Indians, knew their parents well, doctors, nurses, engineers, professors, etc. My husband has traveled to and worked in India and Pakistan and knew them well, traveled with them, taught engineering classes with them and lived with them on US compounds.
My daughter, when she moved to Georgia at the age of 19 yrs old, (now 51 yrs old), has lived next door to Indians and Pakistanis, and she noted that they are NOT good neighbors, as many other Southerners have noted to me on occasion. It is true that they beat their wives and children. My husband and daughter has witnessed it.
Many businesses in Georgia are owned and operated by Indians and Pakistanis. I shop locally and I am treated with respect and they chat with me about politics, their children’s education, their lifestyle, etc.
That is all positive, however, they are NOT Americans and do not pretend to be. Some are Hindu and some are Muslim. They explain their communities to me and how they are not allowed to partake in anything American vices, i.e. tobacco and/or alcohol or many other cultural ways.
However, they do when they can “get away with it” in small cloisters of their known users and make arrangements when their Community Leaders are not around.
My husband explained to me when he was teaching globally, that the Pakistanis in Customs would allow Americans, etc. to go through with a bottle of Whiskey, etc. in their luggage and their cigars, however, if their “bosses” were in or near their lines, the goods were confiscated and the Americans were given a lecture, etc..
I passed this story along to one Pakistani store owner and he smiled and nodded in agreement and said: “Yes, we do have to be careful around the Community Leaders.”
So, you see, even in America, the Pakistanis and Indians come here, yet they still have the Community Leaders amongst them and they live in the same residential communities. They do not fully assimilate. I suppose it is not unlike the Hasidic Jews or other communities, Amish, etc. The difference I notated was that they will depart from their religious beliefs and indulge in the American culture somewhat if they want to and are very “sneaky”.
I’ve never been a very good sneak. I am who I am and learned that a very long time ago; to be honest with yourself then you can be honest with others.
That is the main difference I have witnessed first hand. Now, don’t misunderstand me, I am not inferring that ALL are doing that, but I suspect enough are.
So, be cautious with business relationships.
I expect President Trump is well aware of this and is exercising extreme caution.
Our country should be promoting Americans First in education and employment, regardless of the outstanding “stars” from other countries.

I’m predicting greatly increased U.S.-India trade in the near future!
