Yesterday I posted this:

“God has blessed my family.

My daughter and her husband welcomed a son into the world on Wednesday.

As I held him Wednesday evening, we discussed the virtues of pushups and growing up strong. Along with the topics of fishing, hunting, shooting his Daddy’s golf ball at 300 yards, and his future Olympic shooting appearance.

Tomorrow is the seventh anniversary of the passing of my Dad. How he would have loved to hold his great grandson as he was blessed to hold his new great granddaughter eight years ago.

Lots of emotions right now.

God is good.”

Aggiegirl, you brought a tear to my eye with your comment about the missing Great Grandfather being there….

I’m going over to see Mom in a bit, I don’t like her being by herself on this anniversary.

My daughter is not up to traveling yet, I hope she feels better soon and can take her precious baby to see his Great Grandmother.

And there are more in the family who need to see him, including my son in law’s Grandparents.

My wife lost her parents to cancer a long time ago. First her Mom, 29 years ago, then her Dad a year and a few months later.

Amazingly enough, my wife’s maternal Grandmother is still alive. I was able to take a picture of my daughter holding my granddaughter (my son’s daughter) with my wife’s Mamaw.

That would be my wife’s Mamaw with a great granddaughter holding a great great granddaughter. My wife’s Mamaw was 97, the baby was 1.

Now, I hope to get a picture of my daughter holding her own child next to his great, great grandmother.

My wife’s Mamaw is, amazingly enough, 104 years old. And she’s all there mentally, despite the ravages of time to her body.

God is good.

Evening Prayer For Forgiveness

Heavenly Father, thank You for bringing me through this day and Lord, forgive me for the times when I have wandered outside Your best will for me, instead of trusting You implicitly.
 
Thank You, that You are such a gracious Shepherd to me and that You come and rescue me even when I lose my way and stray from the path that You have laid out for me.
 
As I look back over today, I know Lord that there were things that I should have said and done differently, and times when I reacted in a manner that was not honouring Your holy name. Forgive me I pray, but thank You, Father, that You always faithfully prepared to gently bring me back to Yourself.
 
Give me a good night’s sleep I pray, knowing that there is no condemnation because I am in Christ, and may I wake up in the morning refreshed and ready to do Your will. In Jesus’ name I pray,

Evening Prayer For Future Guidance

Heavenly Father, as I lie down to sleep tonight, I pray that You would guard my sleeping and protect my mind from wandering thoughts and unnecessary planning. Teach me to wait for Your perfect timing and not to try to plan my future in my own strength.
 
Lord, I know that You have scheduled every day of my life. Help me to trust You in all things and rely on You to lead me along the straight path and guide me in the direction that You would have me to go.
 
Give me patience to wait for Your perfect timing, and may I not trust in my own abilities and scheming, but rather rest in Your love and trust my future into Your hands.
 
And so now Lord, I commit this night to you, asking that I would rest soundly and wake refreshed and strong to do Your bidding. This I ask in Jesus’ precious name,

Prayer Of Thanksgiving In The Evening

Praise Your holy name Heavenly Father, for granting yet another day in my life and for being with me every step of the way. Thank You for the many blessings that You have provided and the love and fellowship that I have with the friends and family that in Your grace You have placed in my life.
 
My heart is so thankful for all the many blessings that I enjoy day by day, and today I am once again reminded that Your mercies are new every morning and Your faithfulness endures from generation to generation.
 
Thank You, that I have been brought into Your family and have been made a child of God and a citizen of heaven. Words cannot express my love and devotion to You Lord
 
I pray that You would watch over me as I rest tonight, and that You would give me a restful nights sleep so that I may wake up in the morning refreshed in body and spirit and ready to do Your will. Guard all those that I love and may we all grow in grace and in a knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ in the days that lie ahead. This I ask in His precious name,

Christians and cat lovers —

I come here as both knowing there are many of you out there.

My heart is broken.

My dearest, sweetest, funnest, most joyfilled, playful, loving, huge and beautiful boy cat died very early Thursday morning.

His name was Kiki — like kee kee and short for kitty.

He was a huge 23 pound Ragdoll, which meant his long hair made him look really big, and his tail was abnormally long, which made him look abnormally long.

But he was sweetness and trust rolled up into an amazing packet of love.

He always seemed perfectly healthy; he’d run like no one’s business, and loved to play fetch with me — he would run and catch the ball and bring it back for me to throw again. He was my dog-cat.

He had a tiny one-time cough on Tuesday morning and one late Tuesday night. On Wednesday afternoon, in the middle of what would turn out to be a whiteout blizzard, we found a veterinarian who was still open and took Kiki to see her. In one days time it looked like our perfectly healthy cat would soon be dead. . .

The vet took xrays, listened to his chest, and told us that Ragdolls are known for having genetic problems with their hearts that can lie dormant and pop-up at any time. She told us that Kiki had Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy (just copied off the information packet she gave us) — a disease in the heart muscle. She told us a lot of things, gave us medicine, and in the blizzard we went home thinking we still might have our sweet boy a while longer.

That was our hope.

But by 12:30 that night our boy died.

My husband was outside trying to plow our long driveway so we could drive into Duluth, 30 minutes away, in a blizzard to get help there. We were going to take Kiki somewhere that they would “put him to sleep” — kill him painlessly — but there was no way we would get out of our driveway, yet make it safely into town that night.

And as my husband cried, and cried, and worked feverishly out in the cold, I tried my best to comfort my big boy as he struggled to stay alive, while his lungs could no longer hold any air.

My tenderhearted husband had just been in the hospital a week earlier with heart issues of his own, and learning Kiki had died brought him great sorrow.

We both have great sorrow and are crying all the time.

Kiki sister, Coco, is our fearless girl and another Ragdoll. They shared the same dad, but not the same mom. Coco is having a very hard time; she heard Kiki as he started to struggle at the end, so I took her out of the room and closed the door to try and protect her. Since he died she is struggling, too, and we know we have to give her lots of loving, which we are grateful to be able to do.

Anyway, this is my long rambling note out into the universe of great pain and sorrow over the loss of my cat.

I know there are people on here who have lost their spouses and children, and that Kiki was only a cat. I still grieve having read a few of the stories from tenderhearted souls who have left messages here, and I still pray for the Lord to give them comfort and healing. So I ask for your forgiveness in putting my sorrowful story here, and ask for your prayers, nonetheless.

I’ll see if Ad Rem might add a photo of my beautiful, sweet cats for me, so you can see the heartbreaker who has me crying as I write this to you.

My faith and hope and trust is in the Lord, and I find great comfort knowing that the Lord knows when a sparrow falls.

This is mainly for our Treeper friends who live in areas that are receiving lots of water. Watching videos of cars in Memphis driving through deep standing water I was surprised that I didn’t any stalled vehicles. Driving through deep standing water is not good for cars. If water get into your car’s ignition wires or ignition components, the engine will likely “drown out” . . . meaning it’s electronics will fail to work until they become dry.

Fortunately, there is a product that you should immediately purchase if you live in one of these areas. The product is called WD40. The “WD” stands for “water dispersant”. If you have a wet engine that stops running, spraying the ignition wires and distributor cap with WD40 will give you a good chance at restarting.

WD40 will ‘magically’ allow your wet ignition to start passing electricity and allow you to get going again. The product really does disperse water. Every car should have a can of WD40 just in case.

Our Heavenly Father, Your children come to you tonight to ask for healing and peace throughout our country so that we may return to being One Nation Under God. Guide us to be leaders in Your Kingdom, spreading Your Love and Salvation to all. Forgive us our sins and deliver us from evil.

Lord, we ask for a blanket of protection over all our troops and law enforcement who serve to defend and protect us. Bless our representatives with the strength and wisdom they need to achieve the path You have chosen for us.

Please place Your Guardian Angels of Protection around Donald Trump and his family as they seek to lead America back to You. Also, we pray for Angels to protect and support our Sundance as he works for justice and peace. 

Grant us patience, Lord, as the evil ones try to anger us and cause us to fall. Spread blessings over Israel and Netanyahu.

We humbly ask that You please comfort those who are grieving and in pain.

And prayers up for all political prisoners. Prayers up for Julian Assange and for all the protesters of January 6 who were or are entrapped in DC.
