Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name. Thy kingdom come. THY WILL BE DONE, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but DELIVER US FROM EVIL.
For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever and ever. Amen †

Good morning Patience. That is Beautiful.
Good day, Brat 💞
When I was a little bitty girl… I would make bracelets out of clover. This picture reminds me of my Heavenly home. I can breathe there.
Let’s try a little pickin’ and grinnin’ . . .
Sweet!! Perfect for CATURDAY, Garrison 👍🏻☕💕 A crackin’ thunderstorm got us up this morning, so had to round up all my moggies into my alternative transport. Meow, little Tink…left room for you, precious girl 😽💕
TOE BEANS!!!
The face you see first thing when you awaken…and he can see the bottom of his food bowl 😼
Now that is funny; 😂🤣😂
Good afternoon burrolady. This is great! Love it. have a blessed weekend.

😃 😀 😄 😁 🤣 😂 😃
That last pic is hilarious.
My kitty, Pearl, carries a little stuffed pink lion. She shoves his face down into her bowl to feed him. Unfortunately his head got ripped off which makes feeding fairly difficult. 🤔
Oh gosh!!!! 😂 😂 😂
Oh my GOSH, Corny!! 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂 …….
Thanks for that story. The picture I’ve got in my head now 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂
Before I read the caption I thought the mouse had the cat by the jugular!
‘Fraid so 💕 Ask me how I know…right, Corny?
Dont think Mr Tolkien had this in mind…
So this is what they’re do….visiting friends 💕
Full disclosure: I saved this one because I thought it was sweet, just the two of them. But it is only now that I see they are not alone, which made me smile even more 😌

Good morning Betsy. Love, love all the images today. I can not believe it is already Caturday! Storms all night up here. I am beginning to think I should start building an ark or boat. My lawn has turned into it’s own “water” eco-system! Have a wonderful and blessed weekend.
Morning, Pat. Ours just stopped. The thunder!!! But glorious. Grateful for what comes because, as you know, in Texas we never know when it will come again 💕👍🏻
I had to be judicious with the numbers today….I hit the Kitty Motherlode this week. The rest will be arriving next CATURDAY 😽
You really outside yourself.
nbird
That’s how Bets gets so much done! There are two of her. 😁
Hi Betsy. So true about questionable it is to how much rain we will get later this year.
I’ll bet the wildflowers will be something else along the roadsides when it dries up and the sun comes out.
I will look forward to the next Caturday images.
We could just make koi fish ponds in the front yards… our birdies are none too happy. These storms have disrupted their nesting and they’re letting us know it.
Awwwww. I often ask the fur kids to say hello to their heavenly siblings for me.
My first thought, too, sis. There are many 😪
Oh Lady… don’t make me cry. We are coming to grips with an end of life plan for Timmy. He’s our precious Oldtimer’s kitty. He’s not grooming himself well. Getting a little lost. Really vocal. Mean as an old coot at night once sundowners hits. He’s starting to drop lots of weight and is really needy and wanting to be held a lot. We know we don’t get to steward forever… but love forever… we will. (sniff sniff) What an honor it is that God gives us such depth of love. This is Danny (Dan-O-Man’s) brother. What a beautiful reunion that will be for them. My Heaven is going to be awesome.
Oh Woo
You know we lost Bad Bad Leo about 3 months ago (Jan 19th, but who’s counting).
Our old timer, Ozzie, has been making a slow exit for several months with similar issues as your sweet Timmy. Bent over, (has osteoporosis in his spine), losing weight, kind of lost in space. But……he still Loves to eat, and does so 6 or 7 times a day and night. Also, still climbs up in my lap, purrs, and head butts my face. He’ll let me know when he’s ready. They always do – and I am never ready. 😢
Blessings to you and Savannah for showing Timmy what love is. 🙏
Just when I think you can’t top your last collection m! Simply amazing.😺😻😸
Evenin’ Ma’am.
Top notch collection (again) today…..I was compelled to pass many along to both my better half and our daughter-in-law.. Just can’t resist..
Oh Bets,
What a literal sweetheart.
Dark chocolate and caramel! 😋
I WANT!!!! 😍
what a beauty, that calico kitty !
Mornin’ Bets
Kitty mafia is no exaggeration! Normally, before bed, I take Nigel and Winston to their room, Spatsie and Zane to theirs, and 4 stay in the living area/bedroom with us.
It cuts down on occasional hissing fits during the night and makes the short order cook’s life easier in the am!
Too tuckered out last night – so there were 8 faces – just like those awaiting me. Barely made it out with my life! Sometimes, I keep my nighttime earplugs in while feeding. Cuts down on the catcophany!
Hahahaha!!! Hooboy! Hope they weren’t impatiently tapping their toe beans😁 But I bet the guilt on your part was heavy. Only going by what mine would be 😎😼
Very similar here… about 14 inches of rain in the past four days. Fortunately, I live on high ground.. so flooding is not a serious concern for my immediate property… BUT, there are roads and bridges in the area which are impassable right now.
Dadgum, benzy!! I’m assuming that is unusual for your area? So glad you are high and dry, dear sir. I do hope others not so situated have flood insurance.
Once in my small Welsh village we had rains so heavy and constant that the river Dee which ran just outside our area flooded. I stood in the small gift shop where I worked and watched thenwaters flowing and rising very fast. Almost up to the step one had to take to come in. I made an executive decision to wall hug to the hardware store around the corner where I purchased my first pair of Wellington boots.
Used them again when on June 1 one year, after I’d planted all my annuals the day before we awoke to snow which had fallen overnight and reached the top of our 6 ft hedgerow, completely blocking our lane. We had to trudge, with difficulty, up that long and winding hill to the main road and then to the tiny shop in our village for essentials.
I’ve never been so grateful for my executive decision as I was then…
Stay safe and cozy, my friend.
Afternoon dear Bet. I really enjoyed these guys. They’re all great players. I liked them well enough that I listened to some parts two or three times last night.
Little ‘Tink sends her kitty regards. She was just in my lap a few minutes ago before she wanted to go outside for a bit. Every time she does something like this I am vividly reminded how, just a few months back, she was a typical feral kitty who hid from humans, including me. I’ve read about feral cats becoming more civil but never such a profound change as ‘Tink’s. I am so very pleased to have such a wonderfully changed little kitty for a companion.
Despite the dire warnings, we didn’t get storms here at all yesterday or last night—the bad weather just seems to have bypassed this part of Texas. Ain’t complaining . . . 🙂
Would that be …… wait for it………………a Felicopter?
It’s a . . . caticopter!
Wow!
Howdy G!!! So fun! What a great recording. Thank you for sharing it. I have the perfect meal to go with this fun music today. Kiddo wanted wings and I wanted to go out and bring something home. I just wasn’t “feeling” cooking today and have been draggin’ my wagon all week. Well, she said the magic words about saving money and I sprung into gear.
Made some lemon pepper wings, mashed potatoes with sawmill sausage and hamburger gravy, buttery corn, and ginger carrots with the prettiest homemade sour cream drop biscuits you ever did see. Served with cherry ginger ale. Kiddo was in HOG heaven and… though she never has lived there… she started talkin’ Southern. LOL
Now… I’m whipped again and she’s working on a research paper. Will take her to work at 430 PM. I’ll retreat for a nap after handling the laundry. Chores, chores, and mo’ chores.
Afternoon, dear ‘Woo (and Savannah too of course). Its always good to hear from you . . . Like I mentioned to Bet, I found this group to be very entertaining ‘pickers—just great music despite not being our usually expected classical guitar. 🙂 I’ve had a miserably busy week down here in Texas. A plumber’s been chasing leaks at my house for almost the entire week. We have one stubborn leak left.
Just curious, what part of Texas are you in and didn’t get rain? I’m in North Texas about 5 miles south of the Red River.
Noticed the streets are still wet when I went to lunch so maybe I slept through last night’s rain. I’ll blame the really good bourbon that let me sleep like a baby . . . 🙂
Nice! That’s some fancy schmancy pickin’ there, Garrison.
I hd to save this one to my favorites on YT.
Top of the evening, and best wishes for your – and Tink’s – continued well being!
Hoo Boy, this is only thing I can send. Humans in America are going to be wading in deep waters. Hope you have high-top rubber boots ,physically, spiritually, mentally and emotionally. Love to all. I pray we can all weather the FLOOD.

A discussion on reciprocal carry laws from Townhall.com. For awhile now I’ve made it my practice to gently encourage my female friends to think about arming themselves. Many women are reluctant to carry a gun for self defence, yet given how much more dangerous modern society has become, I like to offer encouragement, firearms instruction, trips to the gun range, in the hope that if the need ever arise a woman friend will be well equipped to defend herself.
My experience — and my hope—is, if given the opportunity, more than a few women friends will give themselves permission to give serious consideration to arming themselves for self defense. I’m an advocate of the NRA dictum: If you are ever in trouble and facing danger it is always better to have a gun.
From Townhall . . .
Despite all the fears of gun control advocates, there is a reason that over 86% of police chiefs and sheriffs support national reciprocity. And over 90 percent of street police officers support concealed handgun laws. These are the people who see first-hand how reciprocity and concealed carry work. They know how important police are in deterring crime, but they also know that police almost always arrive at the crime scene after the criminal commits the crime and that self-defense is crucial to keeping people safe. Overwhelmingly, academic research finds that letting people carry concealed handguns reduces crime.
Much of the gun control debate is about things that might go wrong, but with reciprocity, we don’t need to guess. With tens of millions of people legally carrying concealed handguns, if gun control advocates could point to hundreds or even dozens of cases where people with out-of-state permits caused problems, their concerns would be something to consider. But the issues are exceedingly rare. Americans don’t need to guess if gun control advocates concerns are justified.
The two groups that benefit the most from carrying guns are physically weaker people (women and the elderly) and the likeliest victims of crime (poor blacks in high-crime urban areas). These are also the groups that have seen the largest percentage increases in concealed handgun permits over the last decade (2015 to 2024), with concealed handgun permits for women increasing 112% faster than for men and permits for blacks increasing 284% faster than for whites.
Unfortunately, real life isn’t like the movies, where one woman can knock out and overpower several well-trained men. Even well-trained women often struggle to defend themselves against much larger and stronger men. Men also tend to be faster runners.
A firearm represents a much more significant change in a woman’s ability to defend herself. Men can readily hurt women without a gun, and if a woman is already in physical contact with the attacker so that he can take away their gun, they are already in trouble.
The peer-reviewed research by one of us shows that murder rates decline when people carry concealed handguns, be they men or women. But a woman holding a concealed handgun reduces the murder rate for women by about 3 to 4 times more than a man doing the same.
Well said, my man Garrison.

Cap Guns! My favorite.
http://akh-wonderfullife.blogspot.com/2013/06/the-smell-of-caps.html
-“A cap gun was just fine for me. It was about the smell you see, and the bang.
Not the act of firing though, that was almost incidental.
Of course in these more enlightened times we don’t really want our children to play with toy guns;
👉🏻perhaps that’s what makes some of them want real ones.”
They did smell good!
And, of course, my brother would take a whole roll and smack it with a hammer!
Women should learn how to shoot and carry at all times!! The world has changed since we were young. Evilness is everywhere now. Thank you Garrison for posting this article. Have a great day.
I’ve got one in the car at all times. Especially picking up kiddo at night. You would be shocked all the activity that has come into our little sleepy, former farming, community. With all the development and all the greed… come the problems.
Watched a very interesting video last night. It showed a Christian church shooting at White Settlement just outside Ft. Worth. Guy opened fire with a shotgun and was quickly dispatched (single shot from 25 yards) by the church security officer who was also a NRA certified marksman. Watching the video, I found it interesting to note how many members of the congregation were also armed. Of course, this being Texas, that shouldn’t come as a big surprise. The more discretely armed citizens America has the better.
Guy opened fire with a shotgun
What kind of “guy” was the guy, and what was his beef that he opened up with a shotgun?
Agreed, Marti. A dear friend had her purse stolen while shopping at Walmart a few weeks ago. She’d obviously been stalked.
I carry my “9” in my pocket. Want it close to hand. We have seen more “different ” people in our area. A friend of mine will not even go to Walmart by herself anymore.
My husband and I both carry and look around carefully when we get to the store. At our age ( 80 and 85 ) we have to be watchful all the time.
I agree, but there is at least one woman in my church group that wants a suitable non lethal alternative.
https://byrna.com/
BYRNA – CREATED BY AN AVID GROUP OF GUNOWNERS
Our passion for the Byrna mission is both deeply rooted and incredibly personal. We each have experienced the weighty responsibility that comes with being a gun owner and have grappled with the moral dilemma it presents. We realized that there was a critical need for a non-lethal self-defense option that could effectively stop a threat at a distance. This realization was not just an opportunity to create a new product, but a calling to address a deeply felt need in our society.
From the earliest days of Byrna, our driving force has been the desire to save lives. We knew that to make a real impact, we needed to create a product that was not only safe and reliable but also accessible and easy to use. The development of the Byrna launcher was a labor of love, fueled by countless hours of research, testing, and refinement. Since its launch, the feedback we have received from our customers has been both humbling and incredibly rewarding. Hearing stories of how our product has empowered individuals to protect themselves and their loved ones, without causing irreversible harm, reaffirms our commitment to our mission and fuels our passion to continue innovating and expanding our product range. We are deeply grateful to be part of a movement that is making a positive impact on the world and are committed to continuing our work with passion and dedication.
Good morning Deplorable Infidel. We have several women, including myself, that conceal carry.
We also have several retired veterans that wear communication devices in their ears and patrol the church grounds, and the outside vestibule.
It is a shame that this has to be done in the House of God, but unfortunately times now a days have caused us to become extra cautious. Thank you for this article. Have a wonderful and blessed weekend.
Your welcome.
I am a member, hopefully this 4 minute video will play for you. I left the link as-is.
https://www.personaldefensenetwork.com/video/defending-others-during-an-active-shooter-incident-005356/?utm_source=newsletter&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=a6135
During an active shooter incident, you may need to move against a fleeing crowd in order to reach a family member on the other side. After some discussion of what not to do, a drill is run that shows one way to push through a crowd. Key points are keeping your gun concealed and under your control, and utilizing the Half SPEAR, from Tony Blauer’s SPEAR System, to deflect people off your forearm.
Thank you. Yes it played. Good information.
🙂
We found that our state offers two concealed carry permits… one being an “enhanced’ permit which requires additional training. There are some advantages to that one (the training itself is one advantage). The enhanced concealed carry license allows you to carrying a weapon in additional places which the regular license does not.. such as stadiums and government buildings. The major advantage however is that the enhanced license has reciprocity with all but five states. Those five being fairly obvious to most… NY, Illinois, Washington, Orgon and California. My wife obtained her concealed carry license and also purchased several concealed carry purses which had built in holsters to carry the handgun. There are some nice ones out there… stylish and yet easy to use and carry. One of those she owned had a zipper opening to the carry section so that she could open the zipper and have her hand on the handgun while walking to her car in a parking lot, etc.
Always remember… when seconds count, the police are only minutes away
That is not a criticism of the police, but a reminder of the reality… they cannot be everywhere
benzy
AZ allows cc without permit, but we’ve had them for decades precisely because of the enhanced benefits you described. Thanks for reminding people.
We went to cc without permit, but I still got my lifetime license anyway. While I still could… for when they change their minds…
Me too, Woo
I’m concerned sometimes that it makes me an easier “target” so to speak for the government, but then, I’m probably already on their radar for other stances I take. And…….I’m old, so So What?! 😁
Yea, they started offering that right before I moved to CO, which recognizes no other CC licenses but theirs. Haven’t gotten one yet, in this town I don’t really feel the need unlike when I was a road tech in Indianapolis.
We have Open carry anyway, tho the 16×16 ceramic tile that keeps my pizza bag hot will do some pretty good damage when I whack someone with it.
We have both had cc permits for many years. We both hunt so we are used to handling many guns.
I have looked at some cc purses but so far have preferred to have have the gun in my pocket. I like the sound of the purse with the zipper opening. I will have to look for that one.
Someone here posted this quite a while ago about the dangers of having your hole puncher in your bag, I just so happened to have saved it for times like these.
Thank you Magic. I saw that too some time ago. I had completely forgotten about it. Did not save it then but will save it now.
Good morning Garrison Hall. I have been carrying since I moved to Texas. You have reminded me I must renew my CHL soon. We have open carry, but I prefer to conceal, as I am not as quick as I used to be and want to have the advantage of the “hidden” surprise, if I need it! Have a wonderful and blessed weekend.
I also much prefer cc. Don’t want to alert others that I’m carrying. To them, most anyway, I’m just a stiff walking old guy with a cane—which is exactly what I want people to see. And if someone asks (almost never happens) if I am armed, I never admit that I am. That just isn’t anyone’s business but mine. Fortunately there are some excellent choices in in micro-sized handguns that are perfect for concealed carry . The Ruger LCP Max and Smith and Wesson Bodyguard 2.0 come to mind. Both are small (10 rounds/.380) and simply disappear when carried.
I had the S and W Bodyguard. It was terrible for me to use, my husband liked it so I gave it to him and got a Sig .9. I also have a Sig .380. These two guns work great for me.
Garrison,
I’m like American Express – I don’t leave home without it. To be more precise; I don’t leave home without them. Working nights at a hospital will cure you pretty fast of walking into a dark deserted parking lot without one. There is a reason they are called equalizers.
We used to go out hiking/gold panning in the boonies. Twice, someone literally sic’ed a pitbull on us and our softie dogs.
A large pistola and a shotgun come in handy to turn around that situation. 😉
In defense of my sweet pups, they ran to the fore, backs raised, hackles up, ready to defend to their death.
Not necessary.
Ladies, beside being an essential part of self protection – shooting is Fun!
I’ve had a couple of sketchy encounters (Lowe’s and Walmart) that fortunately didn’t go anywhere, but never anything like having someone sicc their dog on me. Having that happen will definitely make a believer out of you dear lady. Glad your puppies were ready to protect their people. Good dogs!!
Love ’em all more than life, dear Garrison. Stay safe. My smaller cc is indeed a Ruger lcp. Has almost no profile, very light, and reliable.
I carry a Glock 40 when I’m feeling more serious! 😉
Agree 100%.
My better half attended two NRA sanctioned courses with me years ago: handgun safety, and the situational and legal aspects of self-defense (with firearms) inside the home. And she went with me on several visits to practice at the local indoor range..
She’s accurate enough inside 20 feet……

Thanks ever so much for this. I’m originally a Tennessee girl (Scots-Irish of course) and didn’t acquire an appreciation for this musical history until later in life. This article is truly extraordinary.
You are welcome. The Abbeville Institute website has some other articles on music. I looked for one about Roy Clark but did not find it. The archives look as if they have been thinned out.
That looks like my grandmother’s house, sink, window, cupboards. And an elderly lady with two grandgirls.
Homesick but grateful for what was home.
You speak to me, Sepp…and I’m sure many more.
Yes, indeed. The photo jumped out and I knew it should be shared.

Looks like my Grannie’s kitchen. I worshipped her and was indeed grateful for what was home.
Good morning Sepp. That is so true. Brought tears to my eyes as it brings back fond memories of growing up with my Grandmother living with us. Thank you for bringing back those wonderful memories. Have a wonderful and blessed weekend.
You are welcome.
My Mom had both of her very elderly Grandmothers residing within a few blocks from her home. She had several happy stories and memories of them that she kept for her whole life. I have to write them down and share them with other family.
resurrection ferns … on awesome tree branches
Good morning dreamboat annie. I’ve never heard of those. Thank you for the photo. Now I will do more research on these. Learn something new every day here at the CTH. Have a wonderful and blessed weekend.
An enjoyable Agatha Christie ‘Who Done It’ . The 1982 film “Murder is Easy” (Agatha Christie)
Not of the Miss Marple, stories or Hercule Poirot, but a stand alone story, with an American male visiting England and his attempts to solve the many murders happening around him.
Some ‘meteorological’ humor.

Here at my central Indiana home I have more standing water in the yard than I’ve had in quite some time. But it’s nothing compared to what those poor people down in AR and TN are dealing with. The terrain in eastern AR is flat and low. It’s cotton and rice growing country.
BTW, over 100 tornadoes reported this week. So I would say this week of outbreaks has justified the hype.
BTW today is not the end of the rain for those in AR and western TN. The forecast calls for more to fall on Monday and Tuesday. So say a prayer for them.
rah
We sure would like to take some of that rain off your shoulders, Treeper friends. Dry as a bone here, no rain in sight. The fire danger is formidable.
My old dad used to wonder why we don’t have a system of water pipes (as with lng or oil) to transfer water from areas with too much water to arid areas.
What a surprise, the evil continues…
“The Democratic National Committee (DNC) has announced the launch of a rogue “shadow government” dubbed the People’s Cabinet — a brazen attempt to sabotage President Donald Trump’s America First agenda.
The announcement comes on the heels of Minnesota Governor Tim Walz’s shocking call for a “shadow government” during a recent town hall in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, where he openly advocated for what he called “alternate press conferences” to spin the public with Democrat-approved talking points.
Now, DNC Chair Ken Martin is taking that vision a step further, turning it into an official operation.
The so-called People’s Cabinet is being marketed as a group of “experts, leaders, and everyday Americans,” but in reality, it’s a coalition of washed-up leftist bureaucrats, failed politicians, and radical activists who are hellbent on blocking President Trump’s common-sense efforts to restore sanity to the country.”
https://www.thegatewaypundit.com/2025/04/dnc-chair-announces-democrats-are-launching-shadow-government/
Does this rise to the level of Insurrection?
DonZ
Bingo!
Too bad lefties don’t have to operate under the same rules.
Not until they actually DO something (action) beyond just talking….
In the spirit of giving all a voice, and because I love our brothers and sisters up there…I found this by accident so I will share…
Oh, Canada! all aboard the Trump Train, departing from platform 47.
Good morning, Aggiegirl!
And then there is Johnny Cash’s version:
As a Canadian (born in the UK) I am happy to say, I have never heard that song before.
hope it is the last time I hear it too.
For a moment I thought it was a real attempt at a patriotic song, but when the anti-Trump rubbish came on I realized this must be a Liberal/Leftist attempt to raise their very tiny chances of retaining power after the next election, by division and stirring up hatred. They will not succeed. They are playing to ‘the stupid’ in our midst.
It is such an obvious and despicable thing to do, to set one group against another to gain power, but then that is what all Leftists do, eg. they use racism and almost anything else to divide people.
President Trump, his platform and principles of freedom, have many supporters in Canada and elsewhere.
Many of us are with you. We know why things are proceeding the way they are. We have see the same problems in our own country, moral decay, corruption, and blatant abuse of power, erosion of freedoms such as the essential freedom of speech.
As a Canadian, I would like to apologize to anyone whose feelings have been hurt by this ‘patriotic’ song. Do not buy into this nonsense.
As the Peace Arch says dividing B.C. and Washington State, we are “Children of a Common Mother”
Life is too short to not have humor and a laugh but I deleted as it was not humorous.
When all else fails, a bit of Biscuit Wisdom…
The comment about eating at night and the light in the refrigerator, sparked me.
Thanks Aggiegirl. Really enjoy these videos of the Shelties! Have a wonderful and blessed weekend.
Thursday I got a call and had to respond. My cousin Brenda and her Husband David are both in poor health. Their area out towards Lapel was hard hit. The house was fine but they were without power. Brenda is on 10 Liters of O2 at all times and was running out of O2 in bottles. Her O2 Generator would not work without power. She uses a walker around the house and a motorized wheel chair when she goes out. David has to use a walker to get around and uses O2 with his CPAP.
I went over and packed all their stuff up they needed, got them in their van and drove them to my sister Lorries house where she had the extra room with the kind of bed they need and toilets with rails for the handicapped. Tanner, my nephew, Lorries son, was a great help once I got them to Lorries house.
They spent the night there and then this morning got the word that the electrical service was back on at their home. My cousin Linda and her husband rick came over to Lorries and made breakfast for everyone and we all had a nice visit. Then I drove Brenda and Dave back to their home. Lorrie followed in her car and helped me get all of their stuff back in, plugged in, and located where it was.
Lots of the areas around here got hit worse than we did. Lots of trees down. Several major roads still closed. People still without power in places. Lots of basements and crawlspaces flooded because even if they had battery backup the power has been off long enough that the battery went dead for their sump pumps.
I really am surprised how few people living in very nice neighborhoods have generators and are thus in the dark without power of any kind and unable to protect their basements and crawl spaces from flooding.
We love our whole house generator. Yesterday we had a whole house surge protector installed. Glad we live on high ground after our 5 inches of rain. Peace of mind is a wonderful thing.
Rah, you are a good cousin to help them out like you did. I am guessing people do not think they need them or they just do not have the finances to get one, even though they live in a nice neighborhood.
I would like to have one, but I am on a fixed income and just cannot afford one. Fortunately the power lines to my house are buried. I do on occasion have a power outage and fortunately they do not last too long.
After that bad freeze in early 2000’s here in Texas, I did have a large propane heater installed (looks like a wood stove), so I would at least have heat. I was one of the lucky one’s as my power was only out for about 8 hours. Most of that time, it was while I slept, so was not aware the power had gone out, so only about 1 hour wrapped up in blankets waiting for electricity so I could have my coffee!
Have a blessed weekend.
If you can’t rely on family, then………………?
So true rah. Family is everything and keeps us grounded doesn’t it.
I had power all during the “Big Texas Freeze”. Turned out if you lived near a hospital or fire station you had power. Both are in my neighborhood.
I know a few of my neighbors have portable gasoline-powered generators, but I might be the only house on the immediate cul-de-sac with a whole house generator, connected to the underground natural gas utility line.
Our grid power is underground in the small cul-de-sac but up on power poles near old trees everywhere else……. The electrical infrastructure is all pretty old (from 50 to 70+ years +/- depending on street / road). Extended power outages have been rare, but we get frequent short-period failures due to old power transformers and untrimmed trees.
Greetings Treepers! ☝️✝️🙏
I see the wacko whinny leftists are going to be out again this weekend in the usual wacko leftist locations crying about how much they hate Trump and what he’s doing. Some of it no doubt astroturf but others just wacko leftist pussies doing what they do when they don’t get their way and believing the lies the democrats and their press are telling.
I expect most locations will have around 20 people or less.
And we get to watch D popularity sink into the ‘teens . . . 🙂

Oh another favorite singer I grew up listening to. Good memories. Thank you.
Good morning. Thanks for the memories. I grew up with him. Even went to Wildwood, New Jersey beaches, where he had a fenced in house hoping to get a glimpse of him. Silly what young teenagers do! Have a blessed weekend.

In high school. We had the Bobby Rydell faction and the Bobby Vee faction. It was like Yankees/Red Sox!
My brother wore out the grooves on “Wild One.” Tried to fashion his hair like that too – hours in our one bathroom fashioning that front wave. He’s bald now – serves him right for hogging the bathroom! 😛
Remember this one?

Of course! We used to “bebop” at dance class in junior high to the music (when we could get the teacher to lighten up with the fox trots!) Super good fun.
How Corruption and Greed Led to the Downfall of Rock Music (Hint Bill Clinton, Fed Communications Act)
This is an important concept. In law school I read about the ASCAP vs BMI big antitrust case, but never really understood its significance until I stumbled upon an excellent explanation of what it really meant by Dianne West in her wonderful book: The Death of the Grown-Up: How America’s Arrested Development is bringing down Western Civilisation. Short summary: it was not just price which was restricted by the antitrust violating market consolidation. A few people owned the ‘culture’ and used their monopoly powers not only to maximize profits but to sell-sell-sell a degenerate, prolonged adolescence, irresponsible lifestyle — from which society never really recovered.
Sounds like an interesting book.

Douglas MacArthur
(1880-1964)
American US Army General in World War II (Pacific Theater; Philippines) and Korea, dies at 84
Biography: Born into a military family Douglas MacArthur graduated from Westpoint in 1903. During World War I he was a Colonel in the 42nd ‘Rainbow Division’ and eventually its commander. During this period he was awarded 7 silver stars and the Distinguished Service Medal.
After a period as Superintendent at Westpoint where he instituted new reforms, MacArthur left in 1922 to take up a command in Manilla. In 1930 he was named the army’s Chief of Staff but his reputation took a hit when he lead troops against the ‘bonus army’ of vets in Washington in 1932.
MacArthur was back in the Philippines when WWII broke out and many of hi forces were destroyed in attacks on the Philippines the day after Pearl harbour. MacArthur was forced to retreat to the Bataan peninsula and then Australia, vowing to one day return. He became a major figure in the war in the Pacific fighting his way through New Guinea. By October 1944 he returned to the island of Leyte, before liberating the rest of the Philippines. In September 1945 he received the Japanese surrender aboard the USS Missouri.
After the war as Supreme Commander of the Allied Powers in Japan he oversaw the country’s reconstruction. He successfully steered it towards democracy overseeing improvements in land ownership and human rights that were to have a lasting effect. His last command was as Commander of a United Nations force in the Korean War but he was relived of his command in 1951 after disagreements in strategy and returned to the US.

Howard Hughes
(1905-1976)
American reclusive billionaire, filmmaker and aviator, dies at 72
Biography: Howard Hughes is known for his eccentricities as much as for his achievements, which were many. Hughes was a Hollywood filmmaker, an aviator, real estate mogul and philanthropist.
Hughes’ enormous wealth originated from his father’s invention of a drill bit used in oil drilling. Arriving in Hollywood in 1926 he funded and produced such films as Hell’s Angels (1927), Scarface (1934) and The Outlaws (1943), which made a star out of Jane Russell. Hughes even designed a bra for Russell to wear in the film.
In 1932 he entered the aviation industry founding Hughes Aircraft Company. As a pilot, Hughes personally set a number of flight records. Hughes also bought a controlling interest in the airline TWA.
Hughes famously built an eight engine wooden flying boat, nicknamed the “Spruce Goose” and piloted it on its only voyage in 1947.
During the 1950s Hughes was a major figure in the development of Las Vegas, buying land and lessening its association with the Mafia.
From this period Hughes became increasing reclusive moving around the world to locations that offered him the seclusion he craved. By the time he died in 1976 Hughes appeared to be showing signs of mental illness. He was thin through an extreme diet, addicted to pain killers and with an obsessive-compulsive disorder, that led to him reputedly keeping his urine in jars.

There is a reason MacArthur is not held in as high of esteem as the likes of Ike, George Marshall, and Patton.
During WW I Marshall was a Major and on the staff of the US 1st Division. Black Jack Pershing came by and was giving the commander and the whole staff hell because they had not finished planning for a coming offensive. Finally Marshall came forward and calmly told Pershing that the whole staff had been working hard and been up for two days working on the plan and suggested the General look over what they had done and what their problems were. Black Jack listened and did not censure Marshall.
MacArthur’s massive ego never allowed him to develop that trait.
I doubt any here know that Hodges, Commander of the US 1st Army in Europe relieved over twice as many staff officers and unit commanders as Patton, Commander of the US 3rd Army did. And that Omar Bradley, their immediate boss, was not much better than Hodges in that respect. While Ike, like Patton relieved relatively few of his staff and subordinate commanders.
The personas developed my historians can really be quite misleading.
IDK if Slowcobra will post today but since I am just now posting after a bit of a nap…

MSM navel-gazing looks like it’s a happenin’ thing as “AutoPenGate” grows some get-along-sticks, and Mea Culpa claws it’s way to the fore…
Fear not, the Left knows they’re screwed
What concerns me more is what our expectations are regarding reciprocation and justice
No amount of American justice will suffice what we all believe every single victim deserves
I think a lot about Jocelyn Nungary and how Trump honored her in his speech, including lifting her up by honoring her passion for animals sans the two who ended her life, Jocelyn isn’t coming back but her legacy is forever…the names of her killers are beneath dirt vermin where they belong
I believe Trump is going to prosecute the worst using tribunals, and use the rest of the scum-dwellers against each other to bypass a “judiciary” that is incapable of rendering TIMELY justice in this toxic environment
I would rather remedy via preventing further degradation of “justice” than hoping to achieve individual retribution deserved but not guaranteed by the slow-turning wheel prescribed by our constitution “beyond the benefit of doubt”
Trump will NEVER get back what they took away from him and his family, instead I anticipate him setting the tone for redemption, and I’m confident he will help us get through it by setting aside personal grievance in favor of moving the country forward
So beautifully written.

EACH DAY WE TAKE UP THE OFFENSIVE WEAPON OF THE WORD OF GOD – THE SWORD OF THE SPIRIT – ONE VERSE OPENS THE DOOR TO THE CONTEXT OF THE CHAPTER MESSAGE
Verse of the Day for Saturday, April 5, 2025
✟
“And whosoever doth not bear his cross, and come after me, cannot be my disciple.”
Luke 14:27 (KJV)
COMMENTARY FOR LUKE 14
25-35 Though the disciples of Christ are not all crucified, yet they all bear their cross, and must bear it in the way of duty. Jesus bids them count upon it, and then consider of it. Our Saviour explains this by two similitudes; the former showing that we must consider the expenses of our religion; the latter, that we must consider the perils of it. Sit down and count the cost; consider it will cost the mortifying of sin, even the most beloved lusts. The proudest and most daring sinner cannot stand against God, for who knows the power of his anger? It is our interest to seek peace with him, and we need not send to ask conditions of peace, they are offered to us, and are highly to our advantage. In some way a disciple of Christ will be put to the trial. May we seek to be disciples indeed, and be careful not to grow slack in our profession, or afraid of the cross; that we may be the good salt of the earth, to season those around us with the savour of Christ.
Commentary by Matthew Henry, 1710.

Thank You, Jesus, for blessings received and prayers answered !!!
WE ARE FIGHTING A SPIRITUAL WAR OF GOOD VERSUS EVIL
PRAYING ON THE ARMOR OF GOD
Father God, I now follow your command to put on the full armor of God, because my battle is not against flesh and blood but against rulers, authorities, the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the unseen world.
I first pray on the Belt of Truth that it may be buckled around my waist, may I be centered and encircled by your truth dear Lord. Hem me inside all that is true and right, and may I be protected and held up by the truth of your living word, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Breastplate of righteousness, please protect my vital organs and my inner man, cover my integrity, my spirit, and my soul. Guard my heart for it is the wellspring of life, please strengthen and guard the most vulnerable places in my life with that which is right, good, and noble that I might not receive a fatal blow from the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Gospel Shoes of Peace. I choose to stand in the shoes of your good news, and on the firm foundation of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the solid eternal rock. All other ground is sinking sand, I pray that I will not slip or fall, but that my feet would be firmly fitted on your lordship, my Lord Jesus. I choose to stand on you, so that the peace of God, which transcends all understanding will guard my heart and mind in Christ Jesus, the eternal Rock of Ages. I receive your holy peace now my Lord, from the sole of my feet to the crown of my head, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray the Shield of Faith into my hand now. As I take up the shield of faith, I ask that you might extinguish every dart and arrow that is launched from the enemy to take me down spiritually, physically, mentally, emotionally, and every attempt of the enemy to destroy my joy. I ask that my faith in you would make it flame out. Extinguish every flaming arrow that would come against me, my life, my family, my home, or my ministry. May my faith always be out in front of me like a shield. Give me the courage to “faith my fears” by choosing to walk by faith and not by sight, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Helmet of Salvation, that you might protect my mind from the thoughts that can lead me astray. I choose to take every thought captive, and arrest all intentioned ideas and motives that would harm others, or distract me from your holy will for me. I submit every captured thought to the Lordship of my Lord Jesus Christ, and ask that you would imprison those thoughts that are not of you my Lord. Transform my mind and renew my thinking that I may think God thoughts, and have a sober mind that is focused on your glory. Please protect me from being double minded that I may allow my mind, I reject to live an earthly life, because I choose to live a holy one, governed by you My Lord Jesus, the prince of peace, please have my mind to be saturated with the holy mind of Christ, in my Lord Jesus name.
Finally, I take up the Sword of the Spirit which is the holy word of God, I pray this powerful offensive weapon into my hand, and ask that your holy word would be fitting for every encounter I face. As the enemy gets close to me, please give me the insight, wisdom, and skill to wield the word of God to drive away the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
May the enemy and his team flee from me, upon hearing the word of God spoken by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. Give me the sword of the spirit to cut through the wiles of the devil, so that I may discern the schemes of the enemy when he is near.
With all kinds of prayers, supplication, and intercession I pray to you my Lord God as the one who fights my battles. Now that I’m in your holy powerful armor, I walk away covered and ready to face my day as you go before me, and please protect me in the midst of the spiritual warfare in this unseen world, in my Lord Jesus name.
Thank you my Lord, for the spiritual weapons of armor and prayer that you have given me. It is written no weapon formed against me shall prosper, and you will refute every tongue that accuses me.
Thank you Father God, my Lord Jesus and the Holy Spirit, that I am more than a conqueror in my Lord Jesus. I pray all of this in the mighty name of my Lord God and Savior Jesus Christ, Amen.
PLEASE PRAY FOR ABUSED, MISSING, AND TRAFFICKED CHILDREN
BE MY VOICE
JESUS LOVES THE LITTLE CHILDREN
CHILD NOT CHOICE
St. Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle, be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil. May God rebuke him we humbly pray; and do thou, O Prince of the Heavenly host, by the power of God, cast into hell Satan and all the evil spirits who prowl about the world seeking the ruin of souls.
Amen.

COME BACK TO ME
Why are you under distress and duress
Why are you living with sorrow and stress
Are you allowing the world to dictate
What you must do in your current state
Why do you suffer needlessly alone
Why do you cry and worry and bemoan
Do you not know I AM with you right now
Can you not see I AM here and know how
War in the spirit with evil is dire
But soon their effect will expire
It is I who controls this world not them
It is I who will have the last word ahem
Do you believe in my begotten Son
Do you know what He has already done
He defeated death arose from the dead
Because of Him you have nothing to dread
Do you believe I freed all those captive
Do you recall their foe is now inactive
I delivered them from bondage and strain
And I promised I would do it again
When the Spirit dwells in the believer
There’s no power stronger or reliever
I’ve given you dominion over all
I expect you to fight and to stand tall
Come Back to Me and do not be afraid
My Son conquered all a high price He paid
So you could live in abundance and be
Productive and Joyful Come Back to Me

Howdy Duchess01,
Wish you were local. We are heading to see The Chosen Season 5, Parts 1 AND 2 tomorrow. Kiddo missed part 1, so I will watch it again with her to catch her up and then we’ll both see part 2 thereafter. A long leisurely afternoon at the movies with buttered popcorn and comfy recliner chairs.
Not sure if you’ve seen the series… but I highly recommend it. Jonathan Rumie is an amazingly relatable and lovely rendition of Jesus.
Hi, JW !!! Where are you going to see The Chosen ? At first, it sounded like you were going to a theater –
Then again – do not know of any theaters that have reclining chairs – lol
Wish I could join you – but – am a bit far behind in my chores – *Sigh * No rest for the weary !!!
ENJOY !!! HUGS FOR BOTH OF YOU !!! 💖🧚🏻♀️💖
Yes! Going to the local AMC theater. Check out your local listings. They started with theater release last week!
Our have reclining chairs and I try very hard to NAP in them. Don’t get me cradled like a baby (snore)
I did look to see when duchess asked where esp since you said reclining seats. I used to hit AMC & Regal in Plainfield a lot for movies but their seats were just standard “keep you awake seats” timed perfectly to make you want to get up and go get popcorn/soda/candy/restroom break.
Most of those movies were incredibly forgettable, would have been a bonus for a comfortable / nappable recliner….um like my lazyboy @ home to watch DVD’s that I switched to from Theaters & DirecTV HBO/Show expenses to just buying DVD’s.
We will always have chores… rarely do we have decent movies. Especially now.
