I’d also favor govt paying for campaign expenses for anyone with enough signatures on a nominating petition. As a big cheapskate, i’ve been forced to learn that sometimes it’s way better to spend some money. Our current system of politicians grubbing up massive money doesn’t make sense nowadays, with cheap( recordable, never totally secure) electronic communications – and a requirement that everything be recorded , transparent and easily available. Attempts at secrecy should be rightfully regarded as not acceptable for politicians
Rep. Luna and her employees–and all of Congress–are not Federal employees. They are employees of the legislative branch. That is a separation mandated by the Constitution, under Art. I and Art. II.

If they did their duty and passed a balanced budget on time by regular order I would give them a $1M each in bonuses and let them vote from anywhere they want.
Why not? Bribe Congress to do the right thing. An idea so crazy it might work.
The President has to bring forth a budget for consideration by Feb 1 even though he was inaugurated on January 20th. Since there hasn’t been a budget even submitted since 2007 I believe or 2008 at best, there was no basis to even attempt a budget. Congess has never held any President responsible for presenting a budget since Bush 2 left office because no budget lets them pretend to work at something besides the next cocktail party or baseball game.

“Bribe Congress to do the right thing.” Yeah! But maybe it’d be better to bribe them by paying campaign expenses and outlawing campaign contributions (which are really the biggest bribery of all – it gives the wrong people power(good at selling out, profiting, grubbing up future contributions by giving handouts, most fascinated with telling people what to do- to the point of whoring )
That’s why Tim Walz is running for President. He will meet with some of the beautiful people, collect lots of cash, hire his wife and a few other friends and walk away after the loss with anywhere from $100,000 to $1 mil after the dust settles.
