The timing is also important and the convictions have to stick.
If the convictions fail, all this is for nothing. History will write it off as a political liability for us, not a long overdue justice.
And that process takes time. In response to people in my orbit asking why “nothing is being done” I respond with how the justice system is supposed to work. I point out that inviting media to attend midnight raids on people for non-violent accusations in not part of the process non-banana government justice.
It has always seemed obvious that (1) Musk and his teams do not make decisions, but rather review the data/details and at most make recommendations or highlight the most interesting details in their reports and (2) anything that appears criminal to either Musk/teams or to recipients of Musk/teams reports, would result in criminal referrals to the DOJ which then decides whether or not to forward the information to the FBI for further investigation. (from there, of the FBI investigation shows clear evidence of crime identifying enough targets for prosecution, the DOJ takes it to the grand jury for indictment… unless the targets of investigation are doing things like destroying evidence or preparing to flee the country… then a warrant might be secured and executed appropriately)
Properly executed, the system does its work without the media cheerleading to the public about it.
Bondi informing the public that fraud is being investigated is confirmation to the public the system is working though if there were any high profile or high risk targets involved, it would be inappropriate for her to signal wrong-doers. So I’m guessing there are no big cases currently unfolding. I have no doubt some are going to result in action, but it would be surprising if it leads to shutting down ActBLUE… not yet anyway.
