Using his Truth Social account, President Donald Trump said he is “strongly considering” issuing large-scale sanctions and tariffs on Russia to get a ceasefire and settlement deal on the table to end the war in Ukraine.
[SOURCE]
With Ukraine in a vulnerable position due to the USA ‘pause’ in Ukraine missiles and drones targeting systems, President Trump appears to be telling Vladimir Putin directly not to exploit the vulnerability or Russia will face enhanced economic pressure points.
President Trump is putting pressure on both sides to reach an interim ceasefire agreement.
President Trump is also well aware that there are no banking, tariff or sanction pressure points that could materially hurt Russia or will impact the decision making of President Putin. Accept the public messaging for what it is.
Keep watching…

So the U.S./Nato gives the Quid-Pro-Quo to Russia agreeing to let East Germany merge with West Germany, on the understanding that NATO wouldn’t be installing themselves into the old Soviet Republics.
And Z-boy, a mediocre actor/comedian runs and wins the Presidency in Ukraine, get votes in all the States/Oblasts in Ukraine, on the platform of “Peace with Russia.”
And the Lesser Brits and the CIA/State Dept/USAID Nuland, McCain, Graham all gin up the hapless Ukrainians to send artillery shells into the cities of the Donbas to kill at random, break their Minsk Agreements (with Merkel and Hollande saying it was a trick they were all playing on Russia).
Then when Russia is found to be a tough old bird, completely indigestible, we’re going to do what? Hold our heads in bucket of water? Declare World War III ?
Oh, yes. Let’s sanction them so they become even more independent. Completely without need of any of the Western skimming operations, banking, insurance, Hollywood movies. And for the Russian People, sanction the Globalist Russian Oligarchs was an unexpected blessing.
Push them further into the mutual embrace of China?
Abandon Article 5, tell Europe to fight Russia. Alone. But recommend to Europe to work on their limited Diplomacy skills first.
Article 5 is a non-starter.
Article 6 is a deal breaker.
Why is that not yet settled?
I’ve got an idea that might help move this issue along:
Tell EU that they can transfer their 100 billion Ukraine loan payback to us. Then they will have a 100 billion dollar donation to Ukraine. That will still leave us with 200 billion donated (after the 100 B payback).
We will still have invested twice as much to “defend” Europe even though we don’t have a national security interest in that region.
Think EU will go for it?
When grifters or scammers target a “mark” they use several tools to get you to go along. It might be emotional such as a honey trap type of play. It might be pressure such as “your grandson needs you to wire me $10K so I can post bond for him.” It can play to your reputation such as “if you don’t pay me, I will post on social media X about you.”
When people are caught up in these situations its very hard to see that they are being scammed and that the best choice is to NOT PLAY. The grifters will ALWAYS use urgency as a leverage point.
There is no reason for the USA and President Trump to HAVE to play in this game. We have been scammed and there is a good chance, given the actors, that we are being scammed again.
Just Walk Away. Don’t play their game.
But … I want ALL THE DIRT ON JOE, which will likely only come through serious pressure. I want it ALL out in the open, so people spit on him and his wh00re in public.
Then hang, draw, and quarter Joe, confiscate all his goods & pension, and let her and Jim and Frank languish in a pedophile-hating prison for life.
Agreed! Pull all our troops out of Europe and leave NATO.
“President Trump is putting pressure on both sides to reach an interim ceasefire agreement.”
And which two sides would that be? Many people are under the impression that the two would be Russia and Ukraine. We need to remember that there are others deeply involved in this conflict. Specifically, the whole of the group that has been pushing for a NATO expansion into Ukraine, the EU leaders that want to send troops and armaments into Ukraine, and the US government financial backers that have been fanning the flames in that region for decades.
And through all of this death and destruction, why is it that Trump is the only one screaming as loud as he can to please stop the killing and lets sit down and work out an agreement for lasting peace?
It’s almost as if the actors in this game are trying to start a WWIII
Yep
Well PDJT that boat has sailed. Those tariffs and sanctions that Trump is proposing will not affect Russia one bit. Russia has already signed a deal with the Communist devils China and North Korea and also the BRICS countries. The BRICS countries think long term and they know Trump only has two years or four years, whichever come first, to know that whatever Trump proposes will become null and void and go back to so called “normal” and NATO and the U.S. will try to gang up on Russia and the other BRICS countries. So Trump is dealing with Russia in the wrong way and his so called sanctions and tarrifs are seen as a joke for the BRICS countries. The BRICS countries are using their own monetary policies. Trump has just shown Russia publicly that Russia cannot trust the USA long term.
VVP said it many, many time ( last sentence)….VSGPDJT….it is time now to do clear cut ……and get out of NATO and make peace treaty with Russia….
Russians DO love their children.
Someone remind me again why we are adversaries?
Because the Holder of the Crown is evil and hates them and us both.
I say we are not adversaries, and those pitting brother against brother shall be put down.
Topple the Crown and peace and prosperity will prevail.
Good evening Maquis. Thank you for this song, I really enjoyed it. It has tempted me to maybe try to learn some Russian.
PDJT the be(a)st, for ever!!! Save the world!!!
Any sanctions on Russia are pointless.
The Europeans stole their money, they’ve sanctioned Russia up the wazoo. Russia has all the cards. And it’s been this way for a while. Remember when Mockingbird media said that all these wasteful items we sent to Ukraine would turn the tide? The M777’s, the Patriots, the Abrams, all these weapons got wasted. Absolutely wasted. Mainly because our defense industry is an absolute joke. We don’t realize how vulnerable we are. Especially when it comes to hypersonic weapons and air defense. Russia spends a 10th of what we spend on defense spending and gets better results.
We need to get with the program. Who knows. Maybe Trump is doing to show to the media that we are being “fair” to both sides.
Russia’s latest budget for defense is around 140 Billion. With that small amount compared to ours. They are holding NATO and USA with all our so called “invinceable” weapons at bay.
For 1 trillion dollars we get The mightiest symbol of our power, 3 Aircraft carriers chased out of the Red Sea. Beaten, Battered, and Broken by the poorest nation in the Mid East. All failing in their mission to open the Red Sea to Israels ,US, and UK shipping.
That is not much Bang for the taxpayer’s buck.
Bring our troops home from the Middle East, the Mediterranean and Europe
Three years into a war with a pip squeek country (Ukraine) and Russia is a world class military?
Phil, using your logic, Korea would be a single country, and Vietnam would have been a democracy .
Both had neither world class militaries, nor the land mass of Ukraine.
Caleb….I’m looking at the results of just the Ukraine war; not generalizing to all similar wars.
North Viet Nam could have been subdued quickly. Political decisions prevented annihilating NV centers of gravity. Korea, of course, was backed by Chinese forces much larger than the American presence.
That said, your point is well taken. My pov isn’t iron clad. My post was a response to members of this community who keep posting that Russia is some sort of unstoppable military Goliath, a force of nature. Far from it.
From the data, which is sketchy across the board I concede, Russian deaths/casualties have been high – some estimates approach 100,000 killed or wounded: in three years. They have not proven adept at defending their airspace or some of their ships. They have run through a whole cadre of generals. Their economy is suffering.
We will see if PDJT’s sanction/tariff threats carry through if Russia persists with the escalated violence that started today. Those threats ultimately relate to lowering the global price of oil to levels that seriously undermine Russian finances. Achieving that state, however, undermines other administration goals, would require EU to abandon all the energy it is still importing from Russia, as well as OPEC support.
In the event, the President has articulated his commitment to the moral drop back to this war: senseless and immense deaths. He also ran on a promise to end the war if elected. So he is all in whether he choses to be or not – it becomes a huge liability if he walks away at this point. I want him to succeed. Granted, this is a separate discussion from “is Russia a world class military”.
I appreciate your tempered response. It’s the way differences of opinion should be exchanged. You understand my modus operandi! Hat tip!
They are kicking ass in Ukraine and will take back the Russian speaking part of that country and part of Moldova as well, in my opinion
Russia will prevail…eventually.
It’s been ugly and costly for all parties in this war. Ukraine has suffered much greater losses: they never really had a unified national armed services; never had a substantial force structure; definitely never had strong wartime political leadership (and still don’t).
If you recall, most professional military talking heads were predicting 6 mos to one year as Russian tanks and ground forces moved to the Ukrainian border. All predictions were wrong.
You know how many countries are fighting in Ukraine? You think all those missiles hitting inside Russia, or those attacks in the Black Sea are just Ukrainians doing the heavy lifting?
I have a bridge to sell you.
And BTW, Ukraine is a humongous country. It’s probably one of the largest countries in Europe by size. But hey, keep drinking that copium.
You do understand how modern wars are fought – do you not?
Your bridge is vulnerable. So I’m not interested.
In many ways, the way the Russians have fought this war is FUGLY.
Pay attention: Marco Rubio just admitted the war in Ukraine is a “proxy-war of the United States against Russia”.
52+ countires, inluding all of NATO aned more, have sent every kind of aid possible to Ukraine, and been defeated.
Trump’s cut-off of iad to Ukraine has exposed the whole truth now – the Ukrainians supply only the cannon fodder on the front lines, without US/NATO money, intel, targetting, command and control, communications, real-time electronic and satellite surveillance, logistics, planning and strategy (cough), Ukraine has nothing.
Trump is trying to make peace, because he has to. There is no military or economic way to pressure Russia any more. The reason this was has dragged on so long is becasue the UK/Euro’s and Biden could not admit defeat, and they still can’t.
All the events of the past year on the Ukraine issue are just the West trying to bargain their way with themselves to acceptance of the harsh reality, and being unable to do so. When the truth is finally recognized widely in Europe, almost every Government, and the EU itself will likely fall, a richly deserved outcome.
Reflect on the utter ruthless immorality and evil of sending 1.2+ million Ukrainians to their deaths, another million wounded, Ukraine economically and demographically totally destroyed, Europe’s economies crushed by high energy prices sending them into looming poverty – all to fight a proxy war that NATO was too weak and cowardly to go fight themselves, all for the dubious goal of “weakening RUssia”.
I suspect this is just posturing – not for Russia, but for the press, to make it look like he is tough on both sides.
Sanctions only made Russia stronger.
Trump probably already has the agreement in place with Putin
Maybe. But I haven’t seen any evidence that an agreement is already done.
I do think it is posturing. I don’t think there’s an agreement yet. My sense of it is that Trump is pulling back military support and giving Ukraine a taste of what No US Involvement looks like and the Russians are providing the hammer. Goal is to get Ukraine to negotiate.
That being said, I’ve been writing for awhile that Trump should be lifting sanctions on Russia, not tightening them. Simultaneously, I think he needs to be cutting the CIAs ties to Ukraine systematically.
Made them practically self-efficient……..
I’m confused, I thought we already placed sanctions on their banking. And if this is some kind of “message” to Putin to lay off of Ukraine, then why doesn’t he pick up the phone and talk to him? I feel like the social media messaging is more to placate we the people. It’s too easy. Doesn’t look authentic or meaningful.
I completely agree about the social media messaging. If this was meant for Russia it seems like a strange way to send it.
Back channels, my friend, back channels.
Dont Panic! President Trump has the ultimate sanction up his sleeve.
The sanctions were designed to hurt us, not Russia.
Sundance wrote about that a while back.
Hal Turner Radio Show : US Satellite giant Maxar has blocked Ukraine’s access to imagery following an administrative request.
Maxar’s data has been crucial for tracking Russian troop movements in and around Ukraine and assessing battlefield damage.
sejmon: Ukraine should join the EU’s NetFlix account. An additional user is just $7.99/month.
I’m MAGA with Trump, but this saber rattling is not necessary, the Russians are ready for serious negotiations, it is Zelli and the Euroweenies who are halting Trump’s desire for a peace settlement, he is not right here in threatening Russia…Be patient and let the Z’s Euroweenies burn themselves… Trump should get a grip on his ego here
Read the thread… plenty of people have pointed out what President Trump is doing… and it isn’t your interpretation.
There are a dozen or so countries whose positions are weakest concerning a trade war/economic pressure via Trump but Russia is certainly not one of them. That said, this action yet again demonstrates that Trumps methodology makes sense and is an attempt at peaceful resolution and is therefore his best option to apply pressure. Contrast this with something like Macron’s recent announcement that he would be willing to use France’s nuclear options as a deterrent to protect Europe.
Hey Sundance…Are we all missing the point here?
Not all of us, just some of us.

Give Russia a security framework between the US and Europe and then no doubt Russia would at least start to entertain the notion of a ceasefire. It is what they have said to be the minimum conditions (that and Istanbul+ as starting treaty). This has been consitently repeated over the years by Russia foreign ministry by words from Lavrov and Putin himself.
No ceasefire will happen until then.
I would urge Trump to just go ahead with whatever sanctions he thinks he can get away with. I bet you it will hurt the US and Europe more than Russia. Put that 17th sanctions package in place and see what happens.
Europe and US have lost their proxy war, and I have not known any conflict where the losers dictate the terms.
Interesting times indeed.
Trump supposedly stopping intelligence (it still comes in through 5 eyes and UK ??) is just like a “bully” (or conflict provoker) losing their street fight and then they put on glasses saying “You can’t beat anyone wearing glasses ner ner!” :-\
Trump can threaten Russia all he wants , it changes nothing
The ‘ threat ‘ is a political move. One, I’m sure Russia was told would be coming and is well aware of.
With it, the claim of preferential treatment ends and neutral Trump emerges.
The Russian, Russia, Russia bleaters have been put to bed and Trump the peaceful, fair negotiator arises.
Trump’s tweet is absurd. He knows Putin will refuse to stop fighing until Russia takes the rest of the 4 Donbass Oblasts and achieves national security regarding NATO.
Even more absurd is Trump’s implication that Russia can negotiate with Kiev to end the war. Where did this fantasy come from? Kiev violated the Minsk “ceasefire” repeatedly from 2014 to 2022. Why would Putin repeat that failed exercise?
I thought Trump himself was going to negotiate with Putin to end the war, which makes more sense. Trump seems to flail in all directions. What hidden obstacles is he dodging?
Trump is still getting bad advice concerning Russia from those around him. Russia has paid a terrible price for the actions of the U.S. . They will not stop the SMO until their objectives are met. The Russians have no reason to trust Trump or the West in general. Many Russian officials have stated as much.
In addition, thanks to the U.S. neocons, Russia is now a country which does not need the U.S. for anything. Threatening more sanctions against them is laughable. Additional sanctions will only hurt Europe and probably America as well. The Russians also have perhaps the most powerful land army in the world at this point to go along with an unmatched offensive missile capability. Unlike Teddy Roosevelt, Trump is speaking loudly and he carries a twig.
Russian armor in keev in 3 weeks zelensky in moscow in 4.
It’s good to see real leadership in the White House again.
Bad idea to make a public threat.
“Build your opponent a golden bridge to retreat across.”― Sun Tzu
And Russia will have to retreat from some of its maximalist goals if there is to be peace. Putin cannot be seen as caving to threats.
So PT’s messaging about sanctioning Russia with meaningless sanctions…..was “equality” pretending?
