As a Canadian, I cannot say that I am proud of our country in so many ways. I am a true Maga supporter, However….I think at this particular time for Americans to be criticising OUR immigration system is the height of hypocrisy.

Like a good neighbor the Canadian people have very different ideas than ‘their government’ has at the moment. They are going to be able to take the first step away from the ‘crown’…..IMHO.
Get Our government back into it’s constitutional restraints and the Canadian people will like their neighbors again. They may even get some ideas for themselves.
Keep the USA and Canada as they are; no more statehoods or ‘territories’ for US; just good neighbors. Get rid of ALL 17 of US ‘territories’ and Hawaii……. IMHO.

I would suggest that the US immigration system is far worse than Canada’s.
20-40 million illegals have invaded to US. These numbers would represent half, to all, the population of Canada. Mind blowing when put in that perspective.
Trump wants to merge US with Canada and Greenland, take back the Panama Canal, and rename the Gulf of Mexico the Gulf of the United States. There will be ten kingdoms and a little horn (the Antichrist) will crop up in the midst of them and take down three. I will vote for Pierre but I’m concerned about the Conservative Gov’t and how tough and effective it’s MP’s will be.
As noted by Jordan Peterson in his excellent interview with Mr. Poilievre; his party if it actually gets elected will face a 95% liberal media that is often vicious and malicious to Conservatives if they stray from the liberal dogma. The Supreme Court of Canada is liberal and loves wokeness, does not defend free speech if it upsets someone and so on. It could scuttle much of his agenda. Then there is the APPOINTED Senate that Trudeau ensured had a Liberal majority. They can delay and block Bills from passing and be a real obstruction if they wish and they likely will.
Then there are the MP’s that will be Ministers. Pierre has been the primary face and spokesman for the party in the media, in the legislature, on the road etc When Jordan Peterson asked him who will be in your Cabinet to face all of this vast opposition from all sides; he looked unsure and then said as a first choice Andrew Scheer who was a former short term leader that was deposed because he folded under the pressure and waffled on the tough issues like previous short term leaders. He was very unpopular at the time. I’m not disparaging them as the pressure can get intense when all other “branches” and the volatile media are shaming and castigating you. This includes some of your own Conservative colleagues. Pierre then mentioned 2 others that are impressive and should do well. There are others I hope.

Your headline is inaccurate. He said he intends to resign after a new leader is chosen. That may take some time and a lot could happen in the meantime. A similar situation happened in the past when his father said he intended to resign but then came back and was PM for a few more years.
Trudeau can cause a lot of trouble for Canada between now and when and if a new leader is chosen.
