I think your comment misses the main point of why Trump wants Canada to be part of the USA. He also prorogued (shut down) parliament until March 24, effectively eliminating a non-confidence vote and giving him the ability to “govern” with no Parliamentary debate or scrutiny until then.
At best, and only if the other parties live up to their public statements, the earliest an election could take place is in May.
