President Trump has announced the creation of a new department. The Department of Government Efficiency or DOGE (tongue in cheek head nod to the Dogecoin cryptocurrency created by Musk). Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy will be tasked with reducing the size and scope of government and completing the agenda by July 4th, 2026.
Seems like getting rid of the (not so) Patriot Act and dissolving a bunch of silly security departments that do not keep us any safer than we were before their inception would really streamline efficiency.
Can they trash the Patriot Act? That would turn things around quick. That’s one of the main things that needs to be done. I hope they can do it.
Congress would need to repeal it. Unfortunately, the current modus operandi is to pass additional legislation to fix the problem or attempt a repeal-and-replace.
The current modus operandi will have to be abolished. The swamp will never be drained if it is not.
I think of it as a repiping of a dilapidated sewer system versus draining of a swamp. The swamps drain themselves.
That’s a great point…also a swamp is a natural eco system, so it’s too nice of a word to describe DC.
Perhaps a backed up sewer system, or overflowing septic tank in need of pumping is more appropriate.

Repealing the Patriot Act is a critical step to destroying the post-9/11 Surveillance State. Could it happen? A guy can dream.
I know this much: After surviving the assassination attempt, President Trump is a different man. He was always different – independently wealthy, with no future political ambitions. He’s approaching the final decade of his life with everything a man could want. “They” have zero leverage against him. He’s uncontrollable.
But since his miraculous survival, he’s convinced God spared his life for a reason. He has a new sense of purpose. Full speed ahead, damn the torpedoes. His second term is his swan song, and he’s going to make it a doozie. He will have zero restraint this time around going after the bad actors. Bad actors in the Deep State he didn’t even suspect existed when he assumed office in 2017.

Agreed…also agencies that have no usage….can someone explain why we need the ATF when alcohol, tobacco and firearms are all legal? What are their main objectives and is there another agency that can takeover their function?
The traffic on the beltway leaving town will be Yuge.

I never really understood why Trump wanted to move government agencies out of DC but I get it now. That would change the next administration also.
The draw to the children (recent college grads) is DC even though they cannot own a home or enjoy real life anywhere near that city. It has unbelieveable traffic in and all around. Everything is expensive. I mean Aspen Colorado expensive.
Moving government workers out of DC would benefit everyone. I am in favor of the “Bring Congress Home Act”. At our current population we should have more than 6500 members in the House of Representatives; 1 for every 50K citizens. Congress capped the number to 435 due to lack of space to put them all in one room for meetings. With modern tech, each should have one office in the Rep’s home town with 2 local staff members and 2 secure communication desks for meetings. Lobbyists lose access and less interference from lifetime staff who sometimes control new members. Daily access to your Rep every work day without any travel expenses.
Hope they’re quick to stand up a Tip Center because they’re going to be inundated with candidates from within. Much of what they need they won’t need to go looking for – the info will come to them. Here’s one example:
The VA continues to send forms EVERY year to ALL veterans certifying that VA care at least meets the requirements of the Affordable Care Act, aka ObamaCare. This was necessary early on due to the individual mandate, that all Comrades had to have health insurance at least at the level of ObamaCare.
However, there has not been a requirement for the individual mandate for a long time, thank you Courts. But the program, the management of it, the postage, the consumable supplies used, goes on, and on, and on…. Every veteran gets these in the mail & knows what I’m talking about.
Find it and terminate with extreme prejudice. I’ll take the temporary spike in the unemployment numbers.
In Trump’s first term the VA made some good moves; now it’s time for that system be completely ‘veteran’ oriented, not staff oriented for political clout!!
Government jobs were political appointments; time for the ‘government’ to get out of business, schools, and medicine!!

Every time another government entity is born, it NEVER goes away, it just grows and grows and grows and grows.
If POTUS-elect wants to appoint these guys to VOLUNTEER their time to Temporarily work to diminish the feds, great. But another new federal government is a DISASTER and the exact OPPOSITE of what diminishing the feds is all about.

An important legislative effort that I would support would be the repeal of the PREP ACT, which should be named the PERP ACT. The PREP act gives a liability shield to any government official, any doctor, any hospital system, any nurse (i.e. to any perpetrator) that followed government instructions, including to advise their patients to be continuously “vaxed” with the poisonous shots, as well as the NIH hospital protocols which caused hundreds of thousands of needless deaths.
If any of you are wondering why Trump is not saying anything negative about the vaccines, or if you have wondered why doctors continue to hype the “vaccine,” the reason is, they are only shielded from liability for all the COVID deaths that occurred due to Operation Warp Speed if they continue to follow government instructions and the government narrative.
However, if they speak against the shots to patients or speak openly about the harms caused by these agents in Congress, .they lose their liability shield. Even the most articulate spokesman for these issues in Congress, Sen. Ron Johnson, has declined to discuss openly the legislation that Congress passed and never told the American people about that sets a whole of government approach in motion if a national medical emergency is called. It also sets in motion a type of military dictatorship in which Health and Human Services is under the control of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. This national “emergency” allows the government to turn trespassing into a felony, e.g.
Because the PREP act gave everyone in government a “get out of jail free card,” it will be difficult to get it repealed, but this is what Americans need if we are to have what Trump recommended, a Truth and Reconciliation Commission.
Repeal of the PREP act will help in the effort to dismantle so-called Gain of Function research, or research into biological, chemical, and radiological weapons. We have all experienced what can result from this research: the entire COVID fake pandemic with its devastating social, educational, and economic effects on all of us. We must end the business model of fake pandemics and then the insistence on “vaccinating” people as the solution.
Then maybe give DC back to the indians who were native to the area and move the capitol. I’m thinking Arkansas. The swamp rats won’t like that.
Hope they have their red pens ready to mark report cards; getting rid of the chaff from the wheat and serving up justice while eliminating constraints of the ‘government’ on US.
The ‘government built’ institutions must go; too numerous to mention, but We know them by their disregard for Our Constitution.
This is a great idea. Elon in particular makes decisions (and implements them) very quickly. We need a blitzkreig approach for this to work. I especially like the sunsetting provision so we don’t accidentally initiate a new bureaucracy.
Also as an aside – this could flip the state of Virginia – even more so if any remaining bureaucrats/agencies are distributed across the country.

DOGE: Department of Government Efficiency. OK, guys, you have a portfolio to do the reforms we all think need to be done. And it looks like your work product can pass in the new Congress. Speed is in order.
How elections are conducted should be reformed immediately. A federal standard can be established for adoption by the states individually. Let this be one of the first projects of DOGE. Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy have the brains to solve this problem.
There must be no opportunity for election corruption in the design of the election systems. No white vans in the night bringing bogus ballots to counting centers. No running ballots through counters more than once. No switching vote totals by hacking the machines. No destroying ballots. No printing fake ballots. Each real voter gets one vote only. Only registered voters vote. Votes either are or are not, no more committees debating and divining how a voter meant to vote on a ballot that can’t be read.
So, design a voting system that works and can not be hacked. The old punch card systems were designed to eliminate the fraud in the paper ballot systems that preceded them, such as ballot box stuffing. Then a hanging chad led to the development of the electronic voting machines, which can be hacked. Now, digital security is available that did not exist a generation ago.
What is necessary? Barcodes? Watermarks? Voter IDs? Pin numbers? Passcodes? How do you solve the problem of elections happening on election day and absentees? Figure it out, establish rational standards and a working system. Remember that the system going forward must work with voters and election workers who are ordinary human beings, so it must be simple and straightforward. And the new system should be less expensive. Elections should not break the bank for smaller jurisdictions.
Government efficiency starts with elections efficiency. Demonstrate the new voting system in a sample county, and take the credit, take the bows. It is an opportunity for a success in an area where everyone knows reform is needed. There are carefully held sacred cows you will go after in pursuit of reform, and getting this done will build confidence and momentum on your way there.

Perhaps one of the first legitimate and useful purposes of AI. To ingest all the government regulations, legislation, and financial information to be able to assimilate everything so that good decisions can be made. Otherwise there is too much for any group to grapple with.

I love the idea of a streamlined government for our nation, but this does not sound the same as the phrase used in the announcement.
Hopefully the antagonistic press will pick up on this phrase and help us out by trying the Gotcha Questions to get a real definition.
The very last thing I want to see is the use of AI in our national goveernment and thiese guys are all about AI. AI systems replacing humans – less payroll but heavy utility and hardware costs.
Potentially they could create a nightmare for us rather than freeing the national economy.
They can start by ending government support for far left/MAGA hating National Public(Panhandler)Radio and PBS. Just watch PBS’s election night coverage. It was right up there with ABC and MSNBC for the most biased, Trump hating coverage I have ever seen. If he can do that, he should simultaneously move all of the worst agencies to crime ridden southern border towns so they have no fedgov places to bail and even if they managed to do so, the agencies would be decimated.

The practical reality is that true, lasting restructuring of the bureaucracy will require major changes in congressional legislation that authorizes and funds every executive entity. With the very narrow House majority, it takes only a couple of RINO votes with the Dem minority to eviscerate much of that agenda.
On the other hand, if Trump moves most of those entities out of DC as he should, then he has immense horse trading assets to persuade those reps to support the changes.

This is how, as I have pointed out, by intentionally ignoring horrendously inaccurate voter rolls and voting fraud in MOST states, but not the ones required to get Trump elected to avoid the Dims making this a one party country, the GOP can avoid a red wave in CONgress and with inadequate votes in CONgress avoid carrying this out this time, too. But the agencies’ congressional patrons—and in some cases the agencies themselves—resisted. In an example of the latter, the Corporation for Public Broadcasting issued a lofty rebuttal to the administration in February after the White House proposed rescinding all but $15 million in each of its fiscal 2019 and fiscal 2020 public media funds.
