Florida Governor Ron DeSantis gives an update on state preparations for Hurricane Milton. There is a strong state emphasis on fuel supplies and alternatives from Port of Tampa to ensure fuel is available. This is a very prudent approach.
Emergency debris cleanup operations were able to remove approximately 50% of all roadside debris from hurricane Helene. To give you an idea of scale, during each hurricane landfall event the average of debris created equals 7 years of cumulative debris. Meaning, each hurricane creates 7 years of debris in the impact zone. Getting that moved out quickly is a monumental task. FEMA reimburses the municipal region for the first 10 days debris removal post storm; this reimbursement window provides the county with motivation to get it done fast.
34 search and rescue teams from around the country have joined in staging areas alongside Florida groups. There are expected to be 50,000 linemen in place for electrical grid restoration; this is the largest grid recovery mobilization in history. 500 state police from outside Florida have arrived to help in law enforcement post storm. I am critical of DeSantis and his always political crew around him; however, when it comes to emergency leadership Governor Ron DeSantis does a great job. WATCH:

We will continue to monitor election events as well as national news events that are pertinent and continue posting articles.
I am also going to provide a link to livestreams below. Clockwise from top left. (1) Tampa Bay – rotating cam. (2) Key West – the southernmost point closest to current storm. (3) Matlacha Bridge between Cape Coral and Pine Island. (4) Central Cape Coral amid one of the many canals.
Hurricane Milton, which was a Category 4 storm as of early Wednesday, is threatening the Tampa metro area — which has a population of more than 3.3 million people. Milton has the potential to be a direct hit and menacing the same stretch of coastline that was battered by Helene. Milton is also threatening the same area that was hit hard by Hurricane Ian in 2022.

Tampa here. We decided not to evacuate since FEMA sucks and believe a citizen cleanup/recovery effort will be needed immediately after Milton does his damage. Unfortunately both our home and income property may be significantly hit – one by falling oaks and the other by surge. It’s wait and see now.
We believe we’re in physically safe location – booked rooms at fairly new hotel built with up to date hurricane standards. The downside…it appears all national news media is staying here as well – including ABC resident tool – David Muir. He looks even greasier in person.
All prayers are welcome 🙏🏻
Prayers up! Did anyone catch the presser with “The Incredible Husk”? He doesn’t like Dis(agree) information!!!!
Tell Muir….oh never mind.
Prayers for you and everyone else dealing with these storms. 🙏🙏
Praying for y’all from North Carolina (not in the mountains, but we know what you’re going through). We lived in Tampa from 2002 — 2005. Lots of hurricanes during that time. We lived in Tampa when Katrina hit New Orleans. Stay safe and beware of greasy ABC tools named David!
Be safe. Have a house in west Pasco Co. Mandatory evac ordered in our zone C. First time I’ve ever seen that, but guessing right now we dodge the bullet (1800 EDT). If we were there we would bug out. No way I would be riding out in that house. Decent 70’s vintage but not anything I would want to be cooped up in.
Oh you poor dears!
Stuck in a secure hotel with all the MSM?
OMG. 😲
Dudes in Key West must be stoned…….
It’s “only” supposed to be a tropical storm there.
Reminds me of Ron White’s take on people staying during a hurricane in extreme danger zones. Was funny in a nightclub setting – not so funny now. Especially hearing about people who are staying regardless of evacuation orders.
East coast getting pounded by huge tornadoes. I’ve seen reports of buildings collapsed and people trapped, but too early for any confirmation.
See my links, reposting…so far no injuries reported…

East of I 95 is headquarters…west is the jail…I worked with those people at the jail (during covid).
Sundance, thanks for the video to the live cams! I home school the grandloves and we have been doing a study unit on hurricanes! The kids and I watched the video and observed this morning how fairly calm it was and then later this afternoon how the wind had reall kicked up and the palm trees were blowing and the how the waves also were really rolling. They will be fascinated to look at the video tommorrow morning.
Stay safe Sundance and all you Treepers that are in Florida!
Wind gusts being reported now at 100 knots which is 115 mph. Nothing to sneeze at but it’s not 180 mph which was hyped earlier this week. On top of that, it’s not the wind gusts that NHC typically reports. It’s the sustained wind speed which is significantly less than the wind gust speed that should be reported. The NHC knows they should be reporting the sustained wind instead of headlines with wind gusts.
Just like all good Democrats the NHC and NOAA are climate change missionaries and never miss the opportunity to hype their agenda!
I am praying for the salvaging of life, limb and eyesights….everything else can be delt with. Pray all stay safe.

One of Ryan Hall’s guys just said he’s seeing a bunch of people with cars parked in their driveways… – Please get the word out and tall ’em to park those cars, nose-out, up against their garage and go – hunker down…
…- And if they’re unfortunate enough to own an EV, tell ’em to park it as faaaaar away from the house as possible (like, out on the street, or at the edge of the neighbourhood, even) and then go hunker down in a bomb shelter/basement, preferably…
