Florida Governor Ron DeSantis gives an update on state preparations for Hurricane Milton. There is a strong state emphasis on fuel supplies and alternatives from Port of Tampa to ensure fuel is available. This is a very prudent approach.
Emergency debris cleanup operations were able to remove approximately 50% of all roadside debris from hurricane Helene. To give you an idea of scale, during each hurricane landfall event the average of debris created equals 7 years of cumulative debris. Meaning, each hurricane creates 7 years of debris in the impact zone. Getting that moved out quickly is a monumental task. FEMA reimburses the municipal region for the first 10 days debris removal post storm; this reimbursement window provides the county with motivation to get it done fast.
34 search and rescue teams from around the country have joined in staging areas alongside Florida groups. There are expected to be 50,000 linemen in place for electrical grid restoration; this is the largest grid recovery mobilization in history. 500 state police from outside Florida have arrived to help in law enforcement post storm. I am critical of DeSantis and his always political crew around him; however, when it comes to emergency leadership Governor Ron DeSantis does a great job. WATCH:

We will continue to monitor election events as well as national news events that are pertinent and continue posting articles.
I am also going to provide a link to livestreams below. Clockwise from top left. (1) Tampa Bay – rotating cam. (2) Key West – the southernmost point closest to current storm. (3) Matlacha Bridge between Cape Coral and Pine Island. (4) Central Cape Coral amid one of the many canals.
Hurricane Milton, which was a Category 4 storm as of early Wednesday, is threatening the Tampa metro area — which has a population of more than 3.3 million people. Milton has the potential to be a direct hit and menacing the same stretch of coastline that was battered by Helene. Milton is also threatening the same area that was hit hard by Hurricane Ian in 2022.
.

I prayed for you, Sundance, and your family, plus your relatives and friends who live in your area. God bless you.
I am writing from East Tampa, high elevation, no flood zones. e evacuted from Palmetto, Fl. Please pray for us.
Nervous about all the law enforement showing up, considering so many uniforms have been stolen nationwide.

friends in palmetto have not evac’d. kind of worried about them.
where in palmetto? We have a friend in our TRAILER PARK who refuses to leave. Refuses…
Prayers from Canada.
Thank you.
DeSantis is in his element. Have to wonder if part of the reason guys like him are on board with Trump right now is because they know there will never be elections again if he doesn’t win.
Friends living in Cape Coral got hammered by Hurricane Ian in 2022. They had moved there in the spring of 2021 after retiring from their jobs in the upper midwest. They wanted to live in a place where it was warm all year and where they didn’t have to shovel snow. Their house survived Hurricane Ian with some damage — which was all fixed, eventually — but now along comes Hurricane Milton. If we have to take them in as refugees for awhile, we are ready to do that.
City of Tampa: 70-80% of Helene debris picked up, “they have done in two weeks what normally takes three months or more,” still working, 26,000 cubic yards of debris moved. Say to elevate EVs above projected storm surge, for instance in parking garages if you can’t get out of the flood zone, to avoid saltwater shorts of battery packs and resulting fire. Same with any other batteries with large energy storage capacity. Even without conductive saltwater shorts, lithium + H20 = not good.
Lithium battery internals in water:
I like the little pop at the end.
Psalm 89:
8
O Lord God of hosts, who is like You, O mighty Lord?
Your faithfulness surrounds You [as an intrinsic, unchangeable part of Your very being].
9
You rule the swelling of the sea;
When its waves rise, You still them.
10
You have crushed Rahab (Egypt) like one who is slain;
You have scattered Your enemies with Your mighty arm.
Hallelujah!
🙏🙏🙏
Ok let’s get a photo at Southern Point and risk getting swept away. WTF is wrong w/people? Slip, fall, crack your head. Good Times.
Stay safe, Sundance!!! Just had first tornado warning in Fort Myers
If Milton makes that sweeping arc off to the east it can wave at Hurricane Nicole, itself coming from that direction. Like two ships passing in the night.
Interesting statistic on hurricane debris……
Large tornadoes in central and south Florida appearing earlier and now.
We are getting downpours in east Orange county
Collier County. NAPLES, IMMOKALEE
-Whereabouts? – In Milton’s NE quadrant or SE, Winston?… – Just curious.
Tornado damage just now (1pm edt) north Fort Myers area
Thx, Bewildered… – Assuming landfall at Sarasota, that’d be in the SE quad, and (doing the time-displacement math on my end, here in the UK), you’re what?, ~12 hours out from landfall!? – That’s *Nuts*, right?…
Warnings moving further north now ( 1:40 pm edt)
DeSoto County
The live cams all together are really nice.
Sundance, while listening to DeSantis, it occurred to me (and maybe you already covered this, and I missed it), if you know how people who lose power and internet can connect to the Starlink satellites Elon so graciously continues to supply without agenda, please advise.
-I just tried a ElGoog search for ‘Helene Starlink Florida’ but got no specifics for kits dropped of (and hence already in place, eg: at churches, etc) during the Helene relief effort. – apologies…
…- That being said, here’s Starlink’s Helene relief page, for what it’s worth:
https://www.starlink.com/support/article/58126733-e4d2-db62-b919-9da261a4e096
-Also these two links reporting on the direct-to-cell service the FCC (*finally*) just OK-ed Starlink on for NC (FL to follow, *hopefully*):
https://www.datacenterdynamics.com/en/news/fcc-allows-starlink-to-provide-direct-to-cell-coverage-to-areas-impacted-by-hurricane-helene
https://www.reuters.com/world/us/us-lets-starlink-provide-direct-to-cell-coverage-hurricane-hit-areas-2024-10-06
(From the first link: “The FCC has also approved emergency special temporary authority to SpaceX to provide Starlink coverage in Florida ahead of Hurricane Milton.”)
…-Will attempt to do more digging on locations of already emplaced Starlink kits in FL, if any, and will get back to you on that if I manage to come up with anything concrete, EE.
As I tune in some fools are getting selfies in the top right feed! I guess they are just trying out for the Weather Channel!
Or the Darwin awards.
Checking in from Treasure Island/St. Pete area. Lost nearly everything in Helene, and it looks like Milton will take the rest. Sheltering with friends who live inland in zone F, so we’ll be safe from storm surge, but wind may be problematic. We’re under a tornado watch, and one has already touched down in Alligator Alley. Right now, we’re experiencing a lot of rain, and winds are picking up.
I’d appreciate any prayers from fellow Treepers. This is going to be a rough one!
This guy is currently doing a great job tracking tornado warnings t/o the area as they surface.

May the God of all comfort, comfort you in this time of need. May you know His abundance of peace during this time and see Him work His mighty hand for your protection. His love for you is so unfathomable and at the same time tangible. He is for you D&P!
I also want to send a thank you to Sundance and his advice on hurricanes. The family and I are hunkered down and safe on high ground.
Blessings!
Right back at ya, Papajones!

Prayers. My BIL had major damage from Helene. They are staying with relatives..Our Ocala house is non occupied, Amelia Island house is rented by locals so hoping they know what to do..we are in PA.
You picked the right time to be in PA!

“when it comes to emergency leadership Governor Ron DeSantis does a great job. ” EXCEPT when Mar-A-Largo is being raided!
If THAT didn’t require “emergency leadership”, I don’t know what does…
Thanks go to him for the actions regarding hurricanes. The Country will recover from the hurricanes. I don’t know that it will recover from the actions of the 3-letter and 4-letter agencies.
-Hey, maybe this thing’ll take out the Feebs’ Miami field office… – One can dream, right? 😉
Praying for the safety of all in the path of Hurricane Milton…

Milton has lost quite a bit of strength.
Max sustained wind speeds is now 130mph. Internal pressure now up at 944MB after briefly dropping below 900 when it was a cat 5.
Pray that this trend continues. Its still going to be devastating and deadly, and is still dragging a lot of water with it.
Praying for rapid dissipation!

Trust God. Fear not.
…- Cat 3… – And falling…
Stupid Question here:
DeSantis said that “Starlink internet has been deployed across the whole state of Florida”. (Thank you , Elon!)
Does this mean that Starlink kicks in for anyone who loses internet connection, at any time?
I don’t understand how it works.
Thanks for any info.
Yeah… it’s satellite, so you have to have a satellite antenna to pick it up.
-OR- Starlink is being piggybacked into some sort of existing satellite feed. Sat has been used for decades as major comm links by large segments of Big Tech, including Internet providers, TV nets, news media…
I dunno, just guessing, I never thought to check it out.
-Ay, sunnydaze. – Starlink have a page detailing their Helene relief effort that has some details:
https://www.starlink.com/support/article/58126733-e4d2-db62-b919-9da261a4e096
…- Also, per my comment to EE and the links there, up above, they also got some sort of ‘direct-to-cell’ service which the FCC just gave the go-ahead for NC, and, apparently now, FL too… – No idea how that works in a disaster zone, but I’m gonna do some digging…
…- Here’s this for now, tho’, re: ‘D2C’:
https://www.starlink.com/gb/business/direct-to-cell
Tornado likely touching down E of Clewiston, heading N toward Okeechobee
-Also Indian Town, Martin Cty. – crossroads Hwys 76/710
-Also Bowling Green/Avon Park/Frostproof
Port Saint Lucie is now under *5* *Separate* tornadoe warnings.
Watching what seems to be a meteorologist (on Fox of all places) who says it’s sorta breaking up on the south side, that the worst will probably be north and northeast. Dry air from behind is being swept under and into that ugly swirling mass.
This would probably be HUGE for friends of mine in Venice (between Tampa and Fort Meyers) who are staying in place. Crazy, but all the shelters are full, and trying to get further out of town by now is a crap shoot.
Just hoping and praying it doesn’t get nearly as bad for them as it could be.
O Fort Myers.
Wait for it – WILD winds in Fort Myers! A possible tornado was caught on camera ahead of Hurricane Milton.
Tornado warnings:
-Bull Creek
-Another Waterspout of the lake heading for Okeechobee
-Brevard
-Broward
…-Meanwhile, *All 25* Waffle Houses in Tampa are *Closed*.
-Flooding already starting in Ft Myers.
-Now Harmony, Econlockhatchee/Little Big Econ State Forrest.
-Port St Lucie and Vero Beach (*Yet Again*) > Gifford, Indian Shores.
…- Milton is now Cat 3 – Storm surge now incoming. – Port Charlotte, Englewood, Venice.
Indian River and PSL…
-Aggiegirl, someone in PSL piss off God, much?
…- I cant even begin to imagine the amount of picking up the pieces there’s gonna be tomorrow… – Does Satan hisself live in Port St Lucie, or something!? – *Madness!*…
…- Oh, now Cape Canaveral’s getting whacked… – Bye-bye future Starlink launches. – *SMH*

Got it!
I tuned in as they talked about one or two tornadoes in my region…real close…
-Apperently tornadoes <3 Port St Lucie: – Vicinity: Eden, Queen’s Park, Palm City, North River Shores > Vero Beach, Viking, Oslo > Sebastian.
…- Martin, Orange and Okeechobee Counties *Again*…
… -Bear in mind when Milton crosses the penninsula, the storm surge picture gets flipped, so fubarzone is now *North* of the eye… – Although Milton’s now down to Cat-3, predicting 7-8ft surge @Tampa, and then crossing land, but still… – Be Advised
Thank you, Sarge…
-Elijah on Ryan Hall, just now: – “Of the 17 Tornado reports, so far: – *0* injuries reported…”
…-Thankee Lord, – Please keep up the good work.
-Now Atlantic Coast waterspouts, – Yay! (*Heavy* /s)…
…- Palm Bay, Sebastian, Orchid…
Praying for this:
Jesus Calms the Storm
35 That day when evening came, he said to his disciples, “Let us go over to the other side.” 36 Leaving the crowd behind, they took him along, just as he was, in the boat. There were also other boats with him. 37 A furious squall came up, and the waves broke over the boat, so that it was nearly swamped. 38 Jesus was in the stern, sleeping on a cushion. The disciples woke him and said to him, “Teacher, don’t you care if we drown?”
39 He got up, rebuked the wind and said to the waves, “Quiet! Be still!” Then the wind died down and it was completely calm.
40 He said to his disciples, “Why are you so afraid? Do you still have no faith?”
41 They were terrified and asked each other, “Who is this? Even the wind and the waves obey him!” – Mark 4:35-41
Yes…Jesus we trust in you…
Big-Assed Tornado – W. Palm Beach – Wellington, Northbound > Westlake/Locksahatchee Groves.
-Now in Acreage, headed t’ward Delta. – Get the hell under cover, people!
-Sandy Run Rd subdivision – Get to ground *NOW!*
We are in Port Charlotte. The worst seems to have passed us. There was some wind and a gigantic amount of rain in a very short time. I worry about flooding in the business district of the town. They are about 10 to 12 feet elevation there.
we lost internet for a little while, but still have power.
CHARLES HARPER
ATTENTION!
“The worst seems to have passed us.”
The hurricane will not make landfall for at least a few hours. The worst is very likely NOT YET passed you. Tune to local weather. Do NOT venture out.
Stay safe.
Prayers for Port Saint Lucie/Vero Beach…
They just got the shutters up an hour ago….PSL…
It’s always important to prepare for the worst-case hurricane. That said, after living through 40 years of hurricanes in South Florida I can tell you that the NHC has a tendency to overstate both the number and strength of hurricanes. For example, you can actually access the military hurricane hunter reports which report the hurricane wind speed at “FLIGHT LEVEL” which is typically 10,000 feet. The NHC has reported the hurricane wind speed at flight level via misinformation on their warning as the strength at ground level. As you can imagine the wind at 10,000 feet is a lot stronger than at 10 feet. The people who run the NHC and NOAA are climate change true-believers and use every opportunity to hype the hoax including their hurricane reports! The latest NHC reports…
“The highest
Doppler velocities from the Tampa radar have been between 100 and
105 kt.”
That’s reporting wind gusts (not sustained wind speed which is less!) on Doppler Radar which is at cloud level . Again, that is not ground level wind strength which will be less. The NHC knows what the wind strength is that will effect the residents of Central Florida and they should report it accordingly!
Still a very dangerous storm, but it is weakening down to a CAT3 …
-Tornado warning: – Tequesta/Jupiter
Dribblin’ Joe is live on TV
He can’t even read from the teleprompter without man stumbles
Now he’s on to the “misinformation” scolding
Every time he and Harris speak and I am hearing it…it makes me despise them a little bit more.
-Oh, but that melifluous honey-dripped laughter of hers…
…-It just makes me want to vote for her *Even Harder* (/s)…
…- Maybe if I wuz already dead I could vote even harder for my *Beloved* Kamakaze Kaos Kueen…
“Dribblin’ Joe is live on TV”
…- That dude’s still alive!?… – Heh, I’d *Completely* forgotten about him… – Thx., Nimrodman.
Bribem making an update speech…too little too late…
Things truly are bad. The Prez just appeared on TV a few mins ago to lay claim to all the work he is doing for F L and how up to speed he is. I listened for a about a minute and turned it off. And I live in an area that will be impacted.
Better late than never I guess.
This really is a dangerous situation. No…not Milton. That we have a President and a Vice President that have so little credibility that folks are generally inclined to shut them out during real emergencies.
-Sarasota and vicinity Phone Alert: – *Shelter In Place* – Time to run is *Over*, so hunker down and get comfy as you can… – CTH community is here for you…
(Ps: …- Please God, would you mind laying offa Port St Lucie? – *Pretty Please With *Extra* Cream And Sugar On Top*!?…)
Say what you will about Desantis but when it comes to hurricane he’s pretty good. Also on cleaning up voter fraud especially in Broward County. Made FL from swing state to red.
