How much are we subsidizing those industries in Springfield, OH who are hiring the Haitians? You can’t tell me there aren’t people in Springfield who would happily take those jobs. It only makes since for the industries to be hiring the Haitians if they are getting money from the Government to hire Haitians and not Americans.
Hard to find exact numbers, but this will give some idea of the kind of scope from the federal government:
Companies that hire refugees may also, in certain circumstances, qualify for federal tax credits through the Work Opportunity Tax Credit (WOTC), which is available to employers who hire individuals that receive cash assistance (Temporary Assistance for Needy Families or TANF) and food stamps (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program or SNAP) from the government.
[Note: Refugees typically receive cash assistance for a “brief period” following their arrival in the United States as they work to make a stable living for themselves and their families; this assistance takes the form of TANF, SNAP and/or assistance from the Cash and Medical Assistance (CMA) program from the Division of Refugee Services.]
Employers qualify for the tax credit if the refugees they hire receive TANF or SNAP (either exclusively, or in addition to CMA); but they do not qualify for the tax credit if refugees receive only CMA.
Source is a Lutheran organization that has been helping flood the U.S. with “refugees” for decades. That was in their 2018 guide. In their 2023 guide they are a bit less informative:

It contains some interesting information, including a map showing highest concentration by foreign nation in each state. It’s from 2023 – so the numbers are dated – but useful as a general guide.

Of course, people like the mayor – who has multiple rental properties (posted earlier today by someone) including 3 which were purchased for $250,000 each in 2021 – are getting federal rent subsidies + elevated rent payments, so they are personally profiting. DeWine also has a foundation in Haiti (like the Clintons do…)
Several times I’ve posted a link to a recent Congressional study that showed the cost for illegal aliens is very conservatively estimated at almost half a TRILLION dollars.
