These are just a couple of things which now lead me to believe that having an association with China is not automatically bad.
In looking over the website for the Chinese Progressive Association (CPA), all I see, at least so far, is group of people advocating for a better life for themselves and others of Chinese extraction. To me, a very Christian idea. They don’t seem any more politically sinister than, for example, the group known as “the Sons and Daughters of Italy in America.”

I have realized that if they’re going to vote, I’m going to have to get them registered and make sure that ballots are completed and turned in – particularly for those away at college. I think I saw something about Topeka’s malls falling down too.
This has got to be going on all around the country. Who would want an expensive mall lease when they can do anything they want to you.
So, one wonders why the Mall owner is not paying the bills! Assuming they are getting the lease payments, then what are they doing with the money?

Some enterprising builder should purchase these and renovate them into clearing houses for people down on their luck.
There could be residential units in the upstairs spaces with separate wings for families, adult male and adult female singles, and ‘unattended minors’.
The bottom floor could house:
– a human services intake to assess if the people gaining housing were citizens, veterans, related to the family they were claiming, in this country ‘legally, or not;
– if illegally entered, an adjudication would take place in a timely fashion — on the premises within 30 days — and be deported immediately if so ordered;
– if an unaccompanied minor, a separate wing dealing with mental health services, dna testing if the child does not know who their parents are, evaluative sessions to determine education level, social services, etc.
– a ‘tenant-run’ cafeteria, foodstuffs being from food banks and other donated items; or grown in an in-house greenhouse;
– schools and vocational training;
– medical clinic, rehab, and a hospice wing;
– daywork center along with apprenticeship opportunities and other employment center services;
– a library annex, conflict dispute center, entertainment area, transportation hub, etc.
Anyone who takes the opportunities to further their situation positively will continue to be welcome until, or if, they want to move on;
Those that are capable, but choose not to take advantage of the amenities will be escorted out of the the building (where mall parking may be utilized) into a ‘facade’ neighborhood, fenced in, where their homelessness can be experienced within a secured perimeter for the next 30 days whereupon they can apply to re-enter the ‘program’.
Operating costs will be funded by the city who can funnel their homeless to this rejuvenated mall via homeless service grants savings on enforcement/clean-ups, and emergency calls; also, homeless veterans organizations grants/donations; being paid by social security recipients for their room and board; etc.
Operating costs would also be offset by residents performing jobs where applicable (cafeteria, janitor, teaching, clerical, health care) in exchange for room and board.
Seems like a win-win-win solution for all.
Perhaps you would do a real cost analysis before suggesting?
This to include all construction costs, permits, staffing, insurance, etc.
Then a tax analysis for the actual taxpayers, not those who don’t pay but will be using all these
services.
Then a cost projection for just the next 10 years (be sure to include the constant repairs).

Follow up: Loudoun County Board of Elections states a 4% Republican turnout for the primary, and an 8% turnout for the Dems. The good news is that Hung Cao walked the competition to face Tim Kaine. Great American story and a very humble man. The turnout was pathetic, though. People don’t care.

Same-sex marriages would not be registered, adoption would be limited to “heterosexuals,” and gender transition would be outlawed along with any “medical manipulation for the purpose of gender reassignment,” Papuashvili said.

Around 56% of Georgian respondents to a U.N. survey in 2022 believe that the LGBTQ+ community should be protected but that “its members should not impose their way of life on others.”
Tamar Jakeli, director of Tbilisi Pride, told German news site DW that despite the conservative leanings of Georgian society, “The public opinion towards queer people has shifted for the better.”
But she says the government is standing in the way of “building an equal and accepting society.”
“Unfortunately, nowadays Georgia is a hostile place for the LGBTQ+ community, but not because of its society, but because of its pro-Russian, authoritarian government. Society is giving us much to hope for; the government is totally beyond any hope,” she said.
Georgia is still officially a candidate for membership in the European Union, a remnant of the country’s earlier flirtation with liberal democracy. Putin has opposed the proposed membership, and Georgia’s current majority Dream party, ardent supporters of the Russian president, are working hard to undermine it.

Trump-endorsed John McGuire III is still leading Bob Good in VA District 5 tonight by about 900+ votes, but the percentage lead has been going down all night. Hope McGuire’s people are watching for ballot shenanigans with 74% in.
91% in now and his lead is about the same.
Decision Desk just changed the % in from 93% to 86%. Sounds like the fix might be in for Good. Finding more ballots.
Now they lowered it further from 87% to 84% in. And all of a sudden Good is only 200+ votes behind.
Now they’re showing 95% in with McGuire with a 284 vote lead.
ugh. Haley got 35% of the vote w/ 99.9% in.
That’s the highest I’ve seen since she dropped out.

The presidential primary in VA was on Super Tuesday and Haley was still a candidate, too.
This is why you can’t trust Decision Desk. Without any change in the vote totals, they just changed from 95% in to 87% in. Now 89% in with McGuire ahead by only 202 votes.
91% in and lead is down to 23. Oops, DD just lowered the % in again from 91% to 88%.
And the fix was in. Now with 97% in Good has taken the lead by 600+.
99% in and Good wins by 608.
I’m done with Decision Desk. They lowered the % in again. Looking at the NYT results, they show only 82% in with Good in the lead by 100+ votes, and their total vote is over 55,000, about 4,000 more than DD.
Looks like McGuire may pull it out if the % in by county is correct in the NYT results. He is now leading by 142 votes with 88% in. There should be quite a bit more for McGuire than Good based on what is left in the counties that have not fully reported, again if the NYT % in is right.
I may have spoken too soon. The NYT just changed the % in on Albermarle County from 95% to 81% in, a Good stronghold, with Good leading by 555 votes and 55%, out of a total of 5,625 votes thus far. If that is the correct % in, then Good could cut into McGuire’s lead by around 135 votes. Any more than that and it is rigged. It has been hours since Albermarle county reported any further results, so this stinks to high heaven.
