Stephen Byren writes, correctly, that the purpose of the Russian offensive towards Kharkiv is to disintegrate the Ukrainian army-
To my mind, Russia’s objective is to force Ukraine’s army to chase after invading Russian units. The idea is to cause heavy casualties on the Ukrainian side and, if all goes according to plan, either to split Ukraine’s army into two, or disintegrate it altogether.
In such a manner the idea is not just to take territory but to destroy Ukraine’s ability to resist. There are many indicators that Russia is having success in the ongoing operation.
General Kyrylo Budanov, the head of the Ukrainian military intelligence agency, (which includes foreign fighters and Nazis units,) agrees to that. He paints an bleak picture.
Like most Ukrainian officials and military experts, General Budanov said he believes the Russian attacks in the northeast are intended to stretch Ukraine’s already thin reserves of soldiers and divert them from fighting elsewhere.
That is exactly what is happening now, he acknowledged. He said the Ukrainian army was trying to redirect troops from other front line areas to shore up its defenses in the northeast, but that it had been difficult to find the personnel.
“All of our forces are either here or in Chasiv Yar,” he said, referring to a Ukrainian stronghold about 120 miles farther south that Russian troops have assaulted in recent weeks. “I’ve used everything we have. Unfortunately, we don’t have anyone else in the reserves.”
The Ukrainian military has pulled out parts of various brigades that are engaged in the east and is moving them north towards the Kharkiv region. This will be a hodgepodge of partly filled battalions without a unified command and with nothing left to stuff any holes elsewhere.
Budanov correctly fears that Russian can and will repeat this game in other places.

Then there are the studies that show that on the order of 2/3rds of first generation hispanic voters go straight Dim. It isn’t until they have learned some hard truths that they start turning away from the lies of the Dims.
I would argue that is due to the Mainstream Media poisoning the well. Here in the SF Bay Area, just watch ANY local channel with News and all you’ll hear is “Conservatives BAD, Progressivism is KEWL AND THE FUTURE AND FULL OF HAPPY UNICORNS POOPING RAINBOW COLORED HAPPINESS!”
The issue of Immigration is always painted as “Breaking up poor innocent families,” ignoring the fundamental issue, they came illegally.
Or Hate Crimes done on Asians… glossing over or outright ignoring the fact that NONE of the People attacking Old Asian Women aren’t White or even by any stretch associated with Conservatives.

It appears that there will have been abysmal voter turnout in NC for lieutenant governor and auditor republican primary today.
No one that I talked to was even aware that it was election day. These people said that it didn’t show up on their newsfeed.
I think the low turnout and reliance on a newsfeed are probably realistically connected. But I think if the newsfeed drives people to vote, then out elections could be readily influenced.
Many people really on news and/or word of mouth about elections. Very few actually go to their local election commission website or other voter information sites to see for themselves. As a result, unless the candidates themselves or the “party” use phone banks or mass text messages to get the word out and remind people, turnouts for elections that don’t occur in November are often abysmal unless Democrats want people to go vote…
To put a fine point on it, when the Indian Totalitarian Witch was running in the primaries, they were absolutely flooding GOP voter cell phones with text messages in many areas at a rate never before seen – showing the ease with which it can be done (in today’s world all it takes is a computer and know how).
I got so many text messages, it drove me crazy. So, the word was out.

Jmo but if people are relying on “newsfeeds” to give them information then they really need to check themselves. I mean honestly, if you want to make sure your local government is going to work properly than you have to put in a little effort.

I got lots of mailers reminding us to vote. Anyone relying on news feeds to remind you to vote is useless. I voted and I could tell the turnout was terrible. The fact that we gt 2.5 inches of rain today didn’t help.

I always watch my language, but I’m totally Pro Trump.
Not that I care about either of these, or that this is a question that should be posted here in the presidential thread, but my guess is they are shutting down commenting because the GUBT Strong Arm Censorship Machine is hard at work and it is easier to just not deal with it.
