Not a rare move at all. McCarthy spent a lot of $$$ making sure Madison Cawthorne was not re-elected, after Cawthorne outed McCarthy as a perverse degenerate.

I view the VP as someone who will:

Hi, Dutchman — I live in Ohio, and yes, the establishment and other candidates DID work hard to try to edge him out. JD Vance was facing an intense splitter strategy until PDJT endorsed him, and that put him over the top. Best endorsement he made — Vance has been a loyal ally, both in what he says, and what he does. He gets MAGA. He was a great spokesman this week for President Trump at the NYC courthouse, and they seem to have a great rapport.
I would hate to lose Vance as a senator — but I believe he could do more for the country as a VP, especially presiding over the Senate and casting deciding votes. He is just 39, but is making a good mark as an America First senator, and has learned the ins and outs of Congress.
I like Kari, but to me, Vance’s experience navigating the shark tank with legislation gives him a real advantage with much less of a learning curve. And with his young age, he has plenty of time to be a VP apprentice, and still serve 8 years as president in the prime of his life. I’d love to see Trump/Vance elected in 2024, with Kari in the Senate, and then a Vance/Lake ticket in 2028, with her having Senate experience and a household name under her belt. Just my thoughts…

I consider HUD one of the most corrupt agencies in Government, no doubt Dr. Carson learned quite a bit during his stint there…..I think he is immensely qualified to be VP as well.
I’m trying to remember if Dr. Carson did anything to clean up HUD while he was there. Nothing comes to mind. Like all those appointees were going to clean up the State Dept. Yeah, sure.
Personally, I love Dr. Carson – there is no one with more integrity than him.
But – and I don’t say this lightly – I believe age must and will be a factor. Being in my 70’s, I feel comfortable in saying that.
Being the literal powerhouse that he is, President Trump is definitely the exception to the rule when it comes to being ABLE to handle a presidential schedule at his age, and Dr. Carson would be an outstanding VP.

As an Ohioan, with Sherrod Brown up for reelection, I would like JDV to remain in the Senate. Ohio has gone blue in traditionally red cities, so it’s very likely Brown can win.

We won’t sell Ukraine down the river, insists UK defense chief
Grant Shapps’ comments follow reports Britain pitched a peace deal to Donald Trump.
Britain will not row back on supporting Ukraine in its war against Russia, U.K. Defense Secretary Grant Shapps vowed Tuesday.
Speaking as the U.K. announced plans to build six new naval ships, Shapps insisted his government would never force the country to sign a peace agreement.
It comes after a weekend report by the Sunday Times that Shapps’ Cabinet colleague David Cameron had broached the idea of a deal between Russia and Ukraine during a meeting with Donald Trump earlier this year.
“There is just no sense at all in which Britain would try to persuade, strong-arm or otherwise, Ukraine into accepting giving up some of their territory. That’s a decision entirely for Ukraine,” Shapps told Times Radio Tuesday when pressed on the report.
“I don’t think it’s plausible at all for Putin to win this war. And it’s important he doesn’t.”
His comments mark the latest attempt to tamp down speculation over Cameron’s April meeting with Trump, which was aimed at persuading the U.S. Republican to back further military help for Ukraine amid opposition in his own ranks.
Citing a “senior source,” the Sunday Times reported that Cameron had told Trump: “What are the best conditions in which you as president can make a deal in January? It’s both sides holding their lines and paying a price for that.”
U.K. Prime Minister Rishi Sunak distanced himself from the report when asked Monday. “I haven’t seen this Sunday Times article, so forgive me for that,” he said. “But what I can tell you is that you we have led when it comes to Ukraine.”
That was echoed by Shapps Tuesday. “It’s right that we provide both the military assistance and the moral clarity that it is always unacceptable for an autocrat to walk into a neighboring democratic country,” the defense secretary told the BBC. “We should stand behind them fully in order to eject Russia from all of their territory.”

I live outside one of the fastest growing towns in the country. Many, maybe even most, of the construction workers erecting the infestation of ‘affordable housing’ (ie condos and apartments) that are sprouting up everywhere, do not speak English. I see them in the hardware and food stores. They all drive new or fairly new full sized pickup trucks. How does ‘cheap labor’ afford them one wonders?
