When the Mormons settled in Utah in the early 1840s it was still part of Mexico and wouldn’t become part of the United States for almost 10 years.

But 10 years later the US did send the Army under AS Johnston (who would later command confederate forces in the west until his death at Shiloh) to Utah to put down the “Mormon rebellion” (insurrection?)

I took a quick look at Utah party rules. The precinct caucus combines election of precinct officers, county delegates, and state delegates with a presidential preference poll. The election of national convention delegates is made at state convention. National delegates are bound by results of the preference vote for the the first round at national convention in Milwaukee. (looks like 50% gets all delegates, if no one gets 50% they are allocated).
If someone affiliates as a Republican but doesn’t show at precinct caucus, they should be satistied with whomever is elected as state delegates.
They’ve proven they can’t be trusted. That’s for sure.
If President Trump wins, the leadership of the Mormon church and/ or its offshoots are going to be in very serious legal trouble I believe. From money laundering possibly to SEC violations (very likely) to even child trafficking activities.
The Mormon top leaders have every reason to do everything within their power to stop Trump.

Stuck our ballots in a local HS library drop box today in CA. Fella walking out had a “Vote for Pedro” shirt, me and a security guard present got a laugh out of it. Drop box had a small opening, would allow perhaps 4 or 5 ballots in a public space.
I found all of his very comforting. Got the sense this local vote was on the up and up.

When looking at Virginia, keep in mind when the voter ID is checked the poll worker asks what party. I see one Politico has a resulted map where Charlottesville and Northern Virginia went for Haley. Looks like the Dems were out trying to to disturb the election process?
Something odd in Virginia; as the results came in the percentages for Republican vs Democrat results were never the same:70+% for Republicans/50+% for Democrats. When precincts call in their tallies, it is always the total for that precinct. You can’t have more Republican results than Democrat. It doesn’t work that way.

In a Southern CA Election Division room at their official County Offices at their govt ctr, it is the most direct place to cast a vote and the most crowded I have ever seen. The ballot bag, with hand marked paper ballots or pre printed ballots from computer inputs, was in one room and only had to be moved to the next room over, bypassing the envelope opening room. A county that follows the lead of LA in politics and policies, from the last election, where they only put up their usual few booths, its citizens required an extra room, with about a dozen voting booths. There was a line to get in the Elections Office with every window consistently occupied and a line to get in the room with the extra voting booths. In fact, there was a film crew there, news I think, with the spokesperson speaking in Spanish, at the entrance to the new voting room. People seemed to want to vote as directly as possible DESPITE voting instructions that barely mentioned in person voting on their mailed ballots AND no VOTE signs at the govt ctr to guide one from the parking lot to the entrance, thru the bldg to in person voting. Not until on the actual floor, in the actual hallway were there directional vote signs! I literally wondered if they were still doing voting there because of the lack of signage. And this was not before or after work, or at lunch. This was just before 4 pm on a Tuesday. It’s like they were discouraging in person voting, but were reluctantly expecting a lot of it.
