Over the weekend Ann Coulter’s ex-boyfriend interviewed Elon Musk on his legacy enterprise HBO television show. The interview is interesting from the dynamic of a few short soundbites that come from a brief discussion. It’s 20 minutes for those who are interested. WATCH:
.
I did watch it in Australia and was amazed to see that Bill Maher was respectful to Elon. The rest of the show wasn’t so good because here Maher showed his nasty side eulogising scumbag Biden and the DemScum and knocking the GOP
Bill has a history of playing both sides to the
middleleftJust caught O’Reilly on the radio on my way home from work. He’s always thought that making moral equivalence arguments between the arsonists and the firefighters (“both sides” are equally bad, just in different ways!) makes him seem impartial and objective — instead of the manipulative idiot he is.
That’s the context to my corollary here to your comment:
Bill has a history of playing both sides to the
middleright.Maher’s audience members and viewers are brain dead trained seals. They will enthusiastically applaud for something to which Bill said the opposite the previous week or even segment.
When he says woke has gone too far, it is applauded with the same enthusiasm as when he said woke hasn’t gone far enough.
Pre-recorded applause tracks are very predictable.
Or bright, flashing electric “APPLAUSE” signs overhead and out of view of the cameras but in full view of the audience.
He admitted that a good third of his audience is high as a kite when in the audience.
“We’re not in any danger of resource collapse. ”
Elon seemed very confident and matter-of-fact in saying that.
I don’t think that’s the soundbite SD was referring to, but it was nice to hear the electric car guy say that. Maybe it will quiet a few people down. One can hope.
The resources are not there to manufacture his electric cars in any abundance. There is not enough of the currently utilized metals and minerals in electric vehicles even located much less in currently developed mines to support mass production of electric vehicles.
Perhaps that is not the point that every current automobile owner will be allowed to own an electric vehicle.
Perhaps those “resources” are not the resources Musk had in mind when making rhar statement.
IMHO……Musk is a lightning rod salesman…….peddling “green” energy but always making a buck
Suspicious cat is fully awake when two libs start being concerned about freedom of speech.
Ann Coulter dated Bill and back stabbed President Trump after he didn’t live up to her expectations……….
Famously she once said that women in America shouldn’t have been given the vote……….
Ever wonder why she felt like saying that?
(my edit timed out so please pardon the reply to self)
If I remember correctly Bill is an atheist, Musk self describes as a very weak Christian,,,maybe; Coulter purports to be a Christian.
My thesis is that if you don’t believe in the bible and Christianity you miss entirely the foundations of freedom.
The founders and their views support this thesis. They avoided theocracy, the false path that “others” are not equal because they don’t believe as we do. The founders all acknowledged the creator and morality. An immoral person abuses freedom to take from others…..a simplification to the very core of our current state of world affairs.
Monticello,
While I am the very last person who would deny western society’s basis on what are popularly described as Christian principles, I disagree with your dangerous thesis in the most vigorous terms.
One does not need a higher power to provide instructions to formulate, comprehend and implement an economic system based on cooperation rather than force. Cooperation can easily be understood to benefit virtually everyone. The only opponents of such a system are those for whom force is either enjoyable (sociopaths) or the only method they can use to compete (stupid).
Statements such as yours encourage old school small-l libertarians such as myself to believe we might be mistrusted by you, and that the religious conservatives are not our natural ally in this existential struggle against the leviathan state.
Common ground is vital going forward. I respect your religious views but will not agree with statements of exclusivity.
Read the first amendment, then read it again.
Not sure you understood Monticello’s comment. Also, not sure you understand the nature of the battle we are in. Most, if not all of the current word leaders, including in America are NOT God fearing. How’s that working out for us? How has that worked out in history?
I was always taught that the deity was a Loving God…. why “God fearing”? Seems to me that too many ‘Fears’ are foisted upon us.
Sturmudgeon . . .
The word “fear” in the Bible is often misunderstood because the common usage of the word in present day has to do with danger, as shown in definitions 1, 2, and 4 below (Merriam Webster).
1) an unpleasant often strong emotion caused by anticipation or awareness of danger
2) anxious concern
3) profound reverence and awe especially toward God
4) reason for alarm
We are told to fear God as in definition 3. Our Creator is a loving God and He deserves our “profound reverence and awe.”
Thank you for the opportunity to address this misunderstanding held by many, myself included (until the obscure meaning was shown to me).
This is another example of what I see as the cowardly usage of the anonymous “Like” system. I want to be visible in my “Liking” your comment which I wouldn’t have to do in the old Conservative Treehouse days.
Some of the most evil, rotten people I ever met are Bible quoting, church going types. I know some atheists that are decent in every way.
(Notice my usage of the word, “some”.)
Maybe monticello should have added “and who try to adhere to the doctrinal principles elucidated repeatedly throughout the Bible“. IMHO, believing in the Bible means this.
There are millions of people who call themselves Christians yet have never read the Bible entirely through, nor taken the time to study it under a spiritually gifted, well-trained and experienced pastor-teacher.
Worse, the vast majority of alleged “Christian” denominational churches in this country don’t even bother teaching the Bible or accurate Christian doctrine as a standard practice. Their congregants only hear tiny snippets – a verse or two – of the Bible in their Sunday morning church services. That cannot be called “studying God’s Word.”
Every religion has its false preachers and false followers (insert old saying about “best intentions”). But because Christianity directly challenges Satan’s self-claimed exaltation to deity, the Adversary has created the largest group of religious frauds on earth who attempt to shame the religion by claiming to be followers while failing to adhere even to its most basic basic tenets. Basic Bible doctrine cannot be legitimately criticized and discarded because of those frauds.
Christianity also cannot be righteously criticized simply because so many who claim the label do not actually live by (or even know and understand) its guidelines.
Monticello’s assertion is correct, but one must understand the entire context of that statement.
Where or to what entity (government itself?) do you describe or proscribe as the guarantor of the inalienable right to free speech or any other right?
Where did you get exclusion? Virginia Statute for Religious Liberty mean anything?
libertarians always seem to get bent in any discussion concerning both religion and government……
Our government can be Christian based for a Christian people and yet not exclude anyone nor be any attempt at a theocracy.
Christianity provides a better foundation for understanding the Creator as where your natural rights came from and your equality and your right to choose or not to choose to follow any religion.
Islam would be the antithesis for individual liberty as best as I comprehend Islam
FWIW I consider myself a constitutional conservative ( and a larger fan of the original confederation of the 13 colonies) and probably pretty close to most libertarian views
We The People (and especially those of the “Elite”) really require ONE guideline/rule/belief… THE GOLDEN RULE… SO simple and unencumbered by any other trappings.
The golden rule can never be universalized though, because strong violent sociopaths want violence to be the normal standard of behavior. They treat others how they want to be treated because They know they will always win in those interactions and that type of world because they are stronger and love violence.
I see Musk as agnostic.
Musk is not necessarily irreligious, but he may be far too wealthy to feel a spiritual need.
The hundreds of millions of christians who have been imprisoned, murdered, robbed, raped, enslaved, and kidnapped since the messiah was crucified might have a different view regarding your thesis.
Not at all. He said “believe in” so as to “understand the foundations of freedom.” . That does not at all equate to living a free, safe and comfortable life by any stretch. Quite the opposite: the closer one gets to living a pure, (Christ-like) Christian life, the more one becomes the object of hatred and persecution by spiritually-dead unbelievers.
I would say that Mahr has been, at time, almost militantly atheist.
“Bible” is capitalized.
At the time when women’s suffrage passed 80 percent of America’s women were against it. But they couldn’t vote against it.
Same with the civil rights movement in that the majority of the public didnt want it. Culture is downstream from law.
Maher is supposedly a comedian. He can at times be funny.
Maher needs free speech because he would have no material and one left to make fun of if there was no free speech.
Maybe Annie’s a trannie?
Every time I see a Tesla, my first thought is slave wages in the Congo.
Tesla is no different to any of the other manufacturers.
Why not think that about every EV you see?
Or any of the plethora of lithium based battery products on the market.
I live in south America, :} -and I have never yet seen a Tesla!
I didn’t think it was a particularly insightful interview but you caught THEE most important comment and Musk had to repeat it so it didn’t get glossed over. Interesting how this conversation swirled around, not really getting a chance to focus, but still, President Trump’s name should have been brought up in the ongoing contexts and it wasn’t. I’m certain Maher and Musk were both aware of the irony regarding this sad situation and their speaking of the 1st Amendment.
The audience or laugh track was an immature low IQ one considering what they laughed at and what they didn’t.
The more I see of Elon Musk, the more I see him as a spiritual successor to Donald Trump. My own opinion is that the laws should be changed to allow people born outside the USA to become POTUS. I guess many people’s only accomplishment in life was to be born to naturalized US citizens and they want to rub that in people like Elon Musk’s face.
Sure…while we’re at it, let’s install Illan Omar, the one who married her brother, as President while we’re at it. The Constitution IS and WAS always meant to be the guiding document of AMERICAN people.
Notice how quickly Maher tried to change the subject when Elon brought up that point, especially since he clearly had the FACTS to back it up!
Maher might be speaking up, in his own small way, for “free speech” but there is NO way that he is going to go against the “Climate Change” narrative! He KNOWS that he will get canceled for going off the reservation on that subject in a heartbeat and NO ONE in the MSM or Hollywood will stand up for him if that happens!
Saw it previously.
Its the MESSAGE, not the messenger, that is whats important.
The TRUTH is coming out, the limited hangouts aren’t working, and its starting to force its way into even the TDS infused.
THEY aren’t winning.
Barring a resurgence of the 1700’s type of patriot, THEY have won. THEY have absolutely no meaningful resistance to fear from Americas keyboard warriors.
Look at other resistance movements in other countries numbering in the 100’s of 1000’s, all the while, apathetic American patriots cowering behind a keyboard waiting for rescue.
Those keyboard warriors, you so easily denounce, are in many ways greatly responsible for the real awakening of many of those “woke” minds. With all the constant Noice & propaganda from the MSM, it has been those keyboard warriors who have carried the banner of true freedom & liberty without which we would be far further behind then we are!
We may not yet be marching in the streets, but 100’s & thousands of Patriots who attend Trump’s rallies, are a great example of our resistance as is the dwindling audiences of the legacy media. Europe has a totally different history & in many ways are more aware of the dangers of communism than Americans, our awakening may be slower but is very real and gaining quickly!
I think without any rule of law and the DOJ unwilling to prosecute treason it will be difficult to right any wrong in this country.
A big thinker sits down with a wanna be big thinker: What could come of this conversation? Then again, what happens when a person who thinks big runs into a problem that he or she cannot comprehend? Enter personality. There seems to always be a slant to solving a problem–not so much a bias, rather a slant.
So Mr. Musk runs around the world as others consider him a genius. How does that impact his personality? What is his personality? Can you prove your statements put forth as facts?
Musk loves technology, the world of ideas where the use of energies is the central nucleus from which everything else looks toward. He might be the person who says the “world is not flat” in his own way and then builds the ship to prove it as he sails away from land out into the abyss…recall that “car” he sent out into space some years back we saw on video?
Are such people known as big thinkers? Or are they people who love to think about what they consider big problems? Remember Henry Ford? Look what he did for transportation in America. He was not alone, there were others in Europe too.
Where would you put Leonardo de Vinci or Buckminster Fuller? Ever hear of The Great Books? Know some of those authors? Could such people be those who make us think about subjects we never thought to consider important to our lives in ways we may not understand? Great teachers perhaps.
Who do you want to follow, if anybody? And why? Enter again the notion of personality.
Elon Musk is riding a rocket seeking what? Maybe he has no idea, maybe he does…presently. Is he a gambler? What does he use to gamble with…could it be you?
Is it time to rediscover Socrates? Is the wheel turning that way? What wheel is this? Some think the wheels are coming off the vehicle known as the United States of America.
The clarity of your individual thoughts seems to be of paramount importance. Use some of Elon’s thinking energies for yourself as opposed to just buying his car…begin there for the trip of your life!
Bill Maher and Ann Coulter an item…explain that after you think about them! We haven’t gotten to feelings yet, nor beliefs. Perhaps within those three areas our answers await, perhaps.
I don’t see Musk as a genius. I see him as a free thinker with different ideas when he was young. He is not a da Vinci. He simply knows what he wants. He is very positive what the path of humans concerns. I like Ann Coulter, she does have the ability to see trough most complicated matters but it is as if she just shuts down. Screw loose. Maher has so mutch experience with his selected quests and how to interrogate them. He did not want to make an enemy of Musk. I think Maher will be the next liberal that will see the light.
Are you talking about the new and improved Elon Musk or the old (high function autism Elon)? Go look at an older image of Elon. Did he get hair plugs or a head transplant? The current Elon sounds like the old Elon but looks and acts a lot different.
In the recent interview with Tucker Carlson there is a seam around Elon’s neck. It’s so obvious even Tucker appears to notice it.
Why would Elon need a latex mask of Elon? Is that man we see on TV Joe Biden? How does the political analysis change if these men are actors?
Great observation on the Tucker interview, I spotted that reddish line too. Personally, I will go with de Vinci and Fuller as regards the genius label.
It took all of 5 seconds to look up the scar on Los Internetenos.
He had 2 spinal surgeries.
Musk has had some kind of surgery for something in his neck. I also have such a scar on my neck.
I’ll pass on Bill Maher but kudos to his PR peeps.
Can anyone with a stomach stronger than mine give the CliffsNotes version of the soundbites to which Sundance references? I cannot stand Maher and his greasy, smug, holier-than-thou attitude.
If one wants to truly understand the liar and fraud Elon Musk – here ya go: https://tubitv.com/movies/100002025/cult-of-elon
The Cult of Elon
The guy who is punking the world – except of me of course
It’s from Vice. A lefty site that probably loved Musk until Twiitter. I’m not a huge Musk guy. Twitter is only a little better under him but indisputably lefties hate him. Good enough for me
Yes, from Vice and the people being interviewed in the documentary are people who have been censored on Twitter by Elon Musk, have written books about his lying and fraud, and one of them, Lawrence Fossi an investment analysist lost his job because Elon Musk threatened his employer. Try watching the documentary and THEN DO YOUR OWN RESEARCH – you will find just about everything in the documentary true… I
Yeah, but were they censored by twitter pre-Musk or were they part of the leftist elite of trolls that never got punished?
Truly, Vice = liars and there is no truth in them.
“I’m not upset that you lied to me, I’m upset that from now on I can’t believe you.” – Friedrich Nietzsche
“The essence of lying is in deception, not in words.” – John Ruskin
“The more you defend a lie, the angrier you become.” – Mitch Albom
“The most dangerous man to any government is the man who is able to think things out … without regard to the prevailing superstitions and taboos. Almost inevitably he comes to the conclusion that the government he lives under is dishonest, insane, and intolerable.” – H. L. Mencken
some chick barking at me in all caps to do some crazed research to support her crazed hypothesis really makes me want to hop to and get right on that lol
Vice.
I agree.
Take opinions given by jilted lovers with a bag of salt.
Ann Coulter? Don’t you mean Arianna Huffington?
I was waiting for the “Bible condones slavery” line from Maher and was thankful it came in so early. Sadly for Maher he pretends not to know Christians played a huge role in outlawing slavery globally and in the US specifically. To go further Republicans specifically drove the Emancipation Proclamation and other legislation (and as a factor in our civil war) while Democrats to this day refer to Blacks as Uncle Tom if they dare express conservative ideals. If Maher can righteously condemn The Bible for not speaking against slavery (from his limited understanding) how can he continue to support Democrats for the same sin?
Because IDEOLOGY!
Socialism is not just a death cult ideology, but is a religion to the left.
As I told people arguing about the Thomas Jefferson misquote from a personal letter discussing the federal part of keeping the state religions (most every, if not each, state had it’s own religion like Catholicism, Protestant, etc.) separate when dealing with all the various Christian religions of these United States, and THAT is the separation of church and state he was talking about.*
If we were to have a complete separation of Church and State then we would already have removed all socialism by any definition.
*’The reason that Christianity is the best friend of government is because Christianity is the only religion that changes the heart.’ – Thomas Jefferson
“I have sworn upon the altar of god, eternal hostility against every form of tyranny over the mind of man.” – Thomas Jefferson
Thomas Jefferson almost certainly never spoke or wrote the first quote attributed to him. The syntax is all wrong for Jefferson’s day.

What misquote? Please be specific or please relate what thread you argued this before if it was on CTH.
Your interpretation does not seem to jibe at all with the Virginia Statute for religious freedom co-authored by Jefferson. Please elaborate if you have time.
For me, hearing Maher sneer about Carlson’s “rant” on Twitter was enough to reinforce the fact that he’s still an a$$hole. His reflexive and constant disdain for conservatives in spite of his constant “rants” about wokeism — which is propagated by leftists — shows he’s unable or unwilling to overcome being a loyal and partisan Democrat.
How can Musk be so smart and still believe that electric cars will actually save the environment? Where is the evidence?
Musk is PT Barnum and uses the taxpayers as the suckers. 7500 rebates and selling carbon credits is what he lives on. SpaceX is government. Starlink is government. Twitter is government. Musk is not on our side.
So, Musk’s ‘genius’ lies in his ability to parody genius in order to loot the U.S.Treasury.
When Maher refers to the bible is he referring to the old testament, being raised as a Jew?
Think of the freedom that the bible encourages and the amazing impact on the role and treatment of women as well as the treating people who are your slaves or your masters as brothers in Christ. The saving grace of Christ transcended the political systems devised by men. What other book tells you to love your enemy?
Some of the slaves even sold themselves into slavery as indentured. It felt too flippant for these two to make the statements about the bible condoning or not condemning slavery.
For Bill Maher to say we’re running out of water is mind-numbingly stupid.
Let me decipher his comment: “California never built any infrastructure for holding onto rain water or melting snow water, tapping potential aquifers, and is letting it run into the ocean. We here in California la-la land, along with California government, have royally screwed up our State, and it’s the responsibility of every other State to help us because we’re stupid.”
I especially liked what they said about Zuckerberg’s looks!!!
