Think those agreements included a complete hold harmless clause so anyone who has long term health issues or even the costs of cleaning the contaminants from their homes and vehicles are on their own to pay for it – so yeah, they offered to clean up and test but only with their own hired people to do the clean up and no liability for damages the derailment caused.

Retired Magistrate here: How do you know that; do you live there, are you willing to drink the tap water or have your kids go play in that creek that Vance talked about. There was an air inversion for quite some time so the toxic smoke stayed over East Palestine for quite some time.

The claim that only 3,500 fish have died in this spill seems preposterous. Esp. since I remember the Dunsmuir, CA spill of herbacide into the beautiful pristine upper Sacramento River. Over a million fish were killed and millions upon millions of river invertebrates, insects, and mollusks all living on the bottom of the river. Yeah … 3,500 fish killed. Puhleeze.
Connect some dots here. Train derails and it was lit up on fire. Due to a temperature inversion, the smoke plume leveled out at 1000 ft. Unusually warm weather coming from the south moves that plume northward. Not too far away is Lake Erie and what was the first casualty in this accident? Fish kill. Most of the steelhead and salmon ran up the creeks to spawn and feed. Most are fall spawners, with rainbow trout as spring spawners. The followed the salmon to feed on the eggs! This will turn out to one of the largest disasters on record.
The little creeks that got some contamination flow southward toward the Ohio, not toward the lake.
I don’t think steelhead and salmon are anywhere near Lake Erie. They are on the left coast. But I agree about the large disaster.

– Wipe down the insides and outside of their homes
– NOT vacuum as it could make contaminated particles airborne.
– To do one section at a time as to not be overwhelmed
– To seek out mental health professionals if you are too stressed out over cleaning the contaminants out of your homes

I agree this is the main problem now, however, it needs to be revealed, who made the call to burn off the chemicals. Norfolk is getting the blame for the burn off, but I’m having a hard time believing they would make the call without EPA approval. Does anyone have more info on this.?

I am thrilled to see our new Senator Vance on the ground in person there. I live in NE Ohio in Willoughby near Lake Erie, about an hour and 40 min NW from East Palestine, and it’s been covered on all our local news. So I was surprised to find out that the national news was late to the party in covering it.
Thankfully, our area is not in the ring of fire at the moment, but Gov. DeWine’s press conferences left me with a lot of concerns and unanswered questions. And Tucker’s coverage has been timely and excellent for asking the right things. I figured since J.D. Vance grew up in a similar area of Ohio and knows how the rust belt has often been forgotten, he would be a good rep to contact.
So I called Senator Vance’s D.C. office yesterday, and the staffer I talked with was very engaged and knowledgeable. He seemed to really appreciate all the questions and concerns I had, and said that Vance and their office had been in contact with Norfolk Southern, the EPA, and local officials to get answers. At one point, the staffer got quiet, and I wondered if he was still there — he said, “Yes, yes — I’m taking notes to pass all of this along to the senator. These are great points…”
I also asked, “What about the Amish farms? A lot of us buy produce, cheese and meat from them. And with many of them not connected to social media or TV — is anyone reaching out to them to let them know what is happening?” The staffer said, “Wow, great question — the Amish are an important part of our community. I’m going to contact our in-state people to check on it…”
Anyway, it just made me feel like sometimes, phone calls can make a difference. I felt validated by not only the concern and response of his staffers, but also by seeing him say he was there today because of all his constituents contacting his office. Yay for representative government!

One doesn’t simply light chemicals etc. on fire because it fits the need. There are set protocols well known and well established in such cases as these. One MUST request (by law, and obtain) a state emergency burn permit from the State EPA authorities. There is a “hotline” established for this purpose, anyone who transports such materials knows this. This is an actual process in which the situation is validated and assigned “Serial Numbered Emergency Permit” issued as authorized by the state EPA King Shit. It would be very interesting to validate whether this was accomplished, Who asked for it and who authorized it. My hunch is that EPA would not grant such a request under the conditions if accurately identified. Vance should be finding out who this is…. the ramifications of avoiding this procedure could be massive.

This would explain why the EPA is keeping such a low profile.
