“Controlled opposition” is a term that is thrown around quite loosely by anyone who ends up disagreeing with an outlook of conservative punditry. However, as it has become increasingly obvious, the GBNews organization is the very definition of ‘controlled opposition.’
GBNews pundit Mark Steyn refused to adhere to the new compliance rules of the organization, and also refused to indemnify the outlet against any lawsuits filed as a result of Mark Steyn’s commentary [Background Here]. Against the backdrop of Steyn’s public explanation for his departure, conservative pundit Katie Hopkins decides it is time for the truth about the GBNews outlet to be openly discussed. WATCH:
Within Britain, all media speech is monitored by the Office of Communications (OfComm), where official government censors track commentary according to regulatory and compliance rules established by the government.
As noted by Steyn in the contract he rejected: “To the extent that the presenter and/or the US producers do not incorporate Ofcom regulatory input into an edition of the program, this shall be considered a material breach of this agreement, and the Mark Steyn Company shall indemnify GB News for any and all direct loss, liability, costs, including reasonable legal costs, damages, or expenses that it suffers as a result of any regulatory breach.”
GBNews acquiesced to the thought police, and Mark Steyn is rightly leaving. Good for him.

National Review under Bill Rusher was great. About the only conservative view out there other than Paul Harvey, who was in a much different style.

Controlled opposition seems to be the method of operation (MO) for almost all media these days. I refuse to listen or watch even LOCAL News and or Weather Reports. To me, the people who caved to the powers that be, have no backbone and are deceiving the public. Case in point? 24/7 Covid-19 coverage. News Readers on KETV in Omaha, NE are traitors as far as I’m concerned. They act like nice people – but they are ACTING! Good on Katie Hopkins and Mark Steyn.

It’s genuinely impressive to hear from Katie about the machinations behind GBnews and OfComm. These comments rip open the guts of propaganda meant to appease those who can’t see beyond their Fox Affiliate.
I believe we are truly blessed to have courageous and forthright conservative journalists and commentators during this culture war for the heart and soul of our western, god-fearing nations. Katie Hopkins and Mark Steyn are at the top of that list.

Don Imus, radio hall of famer in US, had a contract which allowed him to make off color remarks knowing his audience understood the entertainment value.
He was fired for an on air comment but protected in his contract so they needed to pay him in full.
He went on to work another radio job for millions.
Steyn was correct in protecting his thoughts/speech and having his employer back him because his audience accepts this as entertainment.
When you pay someone to make entertaining speech, you must support or defend that right.
Shame on the employer here.

Tonight’s episode of GB News at 1900 had an outstanding monologue by Laurence Fox (he apparently played Joe O’Bamas crackhead son in a recent movie) where he explains the workings of our Ministry of Truth and the issues surrounding Mark Steyn. He also had Neil Oliver on so two for the price of one.
