John Boyd Jr., President of the National Black Farmers Association appears on Newsmax TV to discuss the ongoing issue of higher farm input costs. Energy costs, fertilizer costs, fuel costs as well as all packing and distribution costs that are associated with petroleum manufacturing, are continuing to drive farm costs throughout the supply chain.
After a review of the current farm output status, there is a very strong possibility we will see the fourth wave of food inflation hit this spring, in combination with several manufacturing and production facilities. Again, the lack of consumer spending on durable goods has moderated the price in hard goods (supplies up, demand down); however, the highly consumable products like food, fuel and energy continue to experience upward price pressure as a direct result of Biden energy policy. WATCH:
.
If consumers could eat missiles and weapons, the U.S. government would be offsetting the costs. Unfortunately, for actual farming products, there is no government attention, policy or support. Apparently, food is still not considered a national security issue.
You could be forgiven to believe this is deliberate and not an accident…..
Stop complaining and eat your bugs.
These bugs?

We have been warned.
I have a cure for where Mike Adams (love his website) says “nitrogen is evil”….when those libs all go to the dentist….
They get NO laughing gas….none, zero, zip, NADA….!!!
Nitrous oxide anyone?
I demand, that Nitrous Oxide be eliminated from the US Pharmacopeia.
“Marathon Man” anyone??
Is it safe?
I’m ill just looking at this stuff. I need another freezer to freeze flour, sugar and chocolate…
or maybe a vacuum sealer? I have flour and sugar sealed in jars. Cocoa powder too.
As my one child said in regards to cabbage……”I don yike dat!”
I heard an actual young child today in Sprouts begging his mother for broccoli. Fancy that.
Secret bug powder …
Bugs……. Soilent green……. I guess we will get by
I would go the other way and say I DON’T think you can be forgiven for thinking this is all an accident.
Didn’t Biden and the Democrats increase the amount of ethanol added to gasoline? So we could turn more corn into fuel during a food crisis?
Yes. Biden raised acceptable ethanol levels to 15%, which is enough to damage all combustion engines. The previous 10% limit was enough to damage older engines and all motorcycle, ATV, and lawn equipment engines. 15% will ensure destruction for all of it. Anything to make life harder for those people labeled “the working poor” (which is over 60% of the working US population right now).
At some point, the filthy parasites will have to be addressed decisively. This cannot go on.
“A body in motion, stays in motion, until an outside force acts upon it” – Isaac Newton’s 3rd Law
So the gentleman in the video said that 99% of black farmers voted for Biden. Even if he is inaccurate in the percentage, he’s probably not too far off.
It is fair to ask him why on earth he or any of his peers believed what Joe Biden promised them.
He and his fellow farmers would get more sympathy from me if they had voted for Trump, based on experience from the previous three years. But it seems they ignore facts and history and keep falling for the lies and false promises from their DemoCRAP slave masters.
Frustrating.
Dang
Gee, I wonder why they voted for him? : https://nypost.com/2021/06/12/judge-halts-bidens-4b-aid-program-for-farmers-of-color/
Biden knew that race based program would get stopped. It was a deliberately fraudulent promise to buy votes.
blacks vote for the dems because it is self serving
more money and programs costing money for them
I hate Woodrow Wilson, FDR, and LBJ!!!!
Funny thing is they all hated black Americans too. Just like Joe.
Dept of Ag is paying off black farmers big time.
Well hopefully they’ll Wake TF Up now.
Dang.
Didn’t the democrats give the black farmers tons of money a few years ago?
https://www.washingtonpost.com/business/2021/03/08/reparations-black-farmers-stimulus/
Are they looking for more “reparations”??????
I thought so. Remember that the man representing them is probably got a payoff to encourage his peers to vote for the Dems.
But the Dept. Of Ag. has been subsidizing American farmers for decades, regardless of skin color.
This latest setback for the Big Ag Scheme was purely because it was literally based only on race.
We’re not even close to peak food prices. The rest of the country is going to become acquainted to the prices the elitists were paying at WholeFoods and the other foo-foo grocery stores before this is all over, except we don’t have their kind of money to buy it.
I grew up in a household with a working dad, a stay-at-home mom, and six kids. We ate a whole lot of pasta casseroles so I don’t mind the taste of mushroom soup and canned tuna. Never thought I’d go back to those days though.
Sounds like our family. Mom could make two eggs feed all. Just scramble with noodles. Living in the country potatoes could be bought in 50# and kept in the basement in a bin. But, I’d just as soon forget Mom and her sister chasing the chicken in the basement trying to kill it!! Everything from the garden or from scratch. I still have a garden and fruit trees.
When mom was chopping chicken necks, we’d guess where they’d run. The winner got a penny. NEXT>> chop…
some of those headless chickens made it ten feet and more… kept the beagle dog and us busy.
And add a strip of crumpled bacon and you’ve got a feast!
In my family the most common meal consisted of pinto beans, fried potatoes and cornbread. Peanut butter and jelly for lunch was a luxury, as were baloney sandwiches! We had chickens, so eggs were always available.
There is a variety of canned mushroom soup, major brand though, ‘roasted garlic’…puts a bit of a zing into the blah tuna casserole….
Thanks for the tip!
Just don’t buy Campbells Soup…………They contain bioengineered food products. Lots of their ingredients are from genetically modified crops. And, literally taste like shite.
Add a whole Habanero chili to the soup. Very tasty.
We like the “Thai Chili” flavor Tuna. I make tuna salad, celery, onion, red peppers, mayo and one envelopes of Thai Chili tuna and one plain tuna on buttered toast with a slice of cheese and broil ’til cheese melts. A family favorite it’s easy to store and quick to fix. The Thai chili makes it special…
i shop at Whole Foods in addition to other grocery stores.
I mostly purchase products I cannot get anywhere else
such as lactose free half and half.
I find that their prices are high on items one cannot get
at other grocery stores. however, since they were bought
out by Amazon some prices on produce, etc. are lower
than my generic grocery store lol. One has to be observant.
Lactose free half and.half??? Half.what???
Hungry people are, historically, difficult to control.
This is not going to end well.
A lot of those hungry folks are going to be the millions streaming across our southern border.
“The first rumbles of revolution echo in the bellies of hungry peasants.”
A line from a novel I’m writing. No stealing!
Hunger is the strongest stimulent.
Actually it always come from ruined middle class people who see a lifetime’s toil destroyed, The poor have always been poor and have little to lose.
Tell that to the foundry worker who sees fifty years of labor destroyed.
Proverbs 22:16, ESV: Whoever oppresses the poor to increase his own wealth, or gives to the rich, will only come to poverty.
I read and believe the Bible, however I just never see this “truth” in America.
Hungry people are incredibly easy to control when the government nationalizes the food supply and doles it out based on social credit scores. This is where this is heading…..and the people hoarding food and survivalists will
Be the first group killed and raided by the hungry.
After they run out of ammunition perhaps.
You nailed it there Pinot Noir. Lol.
Exactly.
Idiot, survivalists also store guns and ammo. Come see Disiswnen and his dead family members attempting to loot food stores that do not belong to them with their Antifa flags.
Joe will just up those limits on EBT cards another 25% to keep the chilluns happy, and we taxpayers payin’.
Actually, this is the last month for the families who have been receiving EBT and the extra ‘covid relief payment’ to continue to do so. As food inflation hits hard, those of little means will be receiving $200-$400 (perhaps more for larger families) less per month. They will suffer the most. Joe and his family with all of their millions (billions) are not concerned about the ‘useless eaters’. He has his.
People in America who can’t afford enough to eat will just have to go on the North Korean Diet..
MAMLNK.
If black (or any racial or ethnic group) farmers were growing food for Ukraine there would be no end of subsidies but somehow I get the feeling that the profit margins on missiles and tanks has it over food supplies thus Biden’s indifference to their plight.
Lordie. I’ve been chasing cows all day, as were my neighbors, and was feeling like “this is for the birds!”, then I come here and read this. I’m sad for our farmers, angry at our government, and fed up. But, I’m gonna say it again, small farms are the only way we’re gonna make it through this. Even if all you can get is an acre or two, you can raise enough food for your family and neighbors. If this city girl can do it, y’all can do it too. I’m exhausted. I smell like the barn. I have cracks in my fingers and shooting pain down my legs. And I’m going to keep doing this because I know I can feed my large family and ignore the government, for the most part.
I urge you from the bottom of my tired heart, get out of the cities, even if you have to lease some land, and start growing food.
And learn how to process and preserve it. Freeze, pickle, canning, drying, etc. All the hard work that goes into growing food is wasted if you can’t put enough away for the winter.
Pemmican keeps for a while.
Back yard “Victory Gardens” 20 ft x 20 ft on tillable land can grow a-lot of food.
I can’t get out of the city. I have no family or friends, and nowhere to go. So I will stay, and I will die. And I’m ok with that.
Millions don’t have any choice…especially after the ‘plandemic’ that destroyed the livelihoods of many. Every day, every night, I place my entire being in the hands of my Lord. He foretold all of this. He’s still on the Throne! “But he who endures to the end shall be saved.” (MT. 24:13) and Rev. 2:10 “Do not fear any of those things which you are about to suffer. Indeed, the devil is about to throw some of you into prison, that you may be tested, and you will have tribulation ten days. Be faithful until death, and I will give you the crown of life.”
1 Cor. 2:9 But as it is written: “Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, Nor have entered into the heart of man The things which God has prepared for those who love Him.”
No friends?
Many reasons for such things. Myself? I had 12 of those I loved die in a matter of 3 yrs., the twelfth was my only sister. Even my two loving cats, one nearly 18 and the other just about to turn 19, died last year. As my neighbor lady said when her husband passed on: ‘Everybody dies’. I am thankful for having known and been part of all who have gone ahead. I don’t think many, if any, actually plan on being alone. Everyone’s journey is different, but all have a purpose. It’s all part of the Tapestry of our lives.
God bless.
My deceased father always said, “None of us get out of here alive”.
No.
Way Over Yonder:
Absolutely Beautiful…We were all born with that ‘way over yonder’ knowledge, all we have to do is (((remember))) who we are…Way over yonder is as close as your heart…Looking inward always shines a light on your path~ Thank you Jude, for this reminder…Our Earth Smiles Flowers~Plant a single seed…
Container gardens work too. You can also grow sprouts indoors.
Sprouts are *fantastic*!
And you can get radish and many other sprouts that really add spice.
Do you go to church? If not, it’s a good place to meet kind people. It’s also a place that needs people to help in your community, especially small churches whose congregations are becoming older and more needy.
Great Telegram channel called Food Forest Abundance, turning suburban yards into homesteads.
You couldn’t pay me to live within 75 miles of a major black urban center.
Agreed, When their food stamps aren’t redeemed they will do what they do naturally. Stock up on ammo. 9mm, 12 g, 5.56 and 7.62, and if you can 30-30.
You rock, BFAW! Mine are grain bucket trained. Can’t catch them so I lead them back to pasture and then fix the !@#$ yet again,,,,
For sure food prices are still rising and I don’t see it dropping anytime soon. I get physically ill at just the thought of going grocery shopping these days.
We are fortunate that my hubby makes a good living, and we are not necessarily hurt by the rising food prices YET, but I have reserved about the meals I make now.
One thing I notice at the grocery store now days is people do not have a lot of items in cart. Appears to be for just a few days. I have not noticed a lot of meat products or dairy including eggs.
Unfortunate that so many have to worry about their food beyond “what is healthy and filling”.
About all I buy is meat, eggs, dairy, bacon and veggies. Sometimes the occasional frozen pizza and pancake mix.
People load their carts with garbage that doesn’t fill because ” meat” is so expensive, but eating poorly costs more, always.
3 eggs, 4-5 strips of bacon and a couple pancakes will take me all the way to lunch!
This year my garden is growing is size and variety, I will have plenty to put up what i need , sell a little and donate a whole bunch to the food pantry in my small town, in which there are many here who need a little help and I love to give back when and where i can.
GATHER AND BECOME A REAL COMMUNITY
That is how we each can beat these communists when the time is right.
Amen!
SS (which I am on) will not be solvent in a few years, and the gov’t will be putting illegals on SS soon.
If you can, get your older family members with you, sell their home (or vice versa), and buy survival/gardening items with the money.
Living independently might not be a good idea now, and your grannie’s SS could buy seeds, goats, fencing, etc..
back in 2010 I purchased some remotely situated acreages in the blackhills.. only one way in as there are very steep canyons surrounding it , we own it outright and we are 8 short yrs away from paying off our house and land in SW north Dakota (extreme Maga country) .. we should be good when the time comes.
Very good!
Hate to say this, but they’re going after the seeds now as well.
Fortunately, there are kinds of seeds that are shared between gardeners in my area. People save them, and we share with others.
Yes, I know. Evil.
Would there be room in your town for a lot that could support a community garden?
AMEN!
One way to solve the input problem, remove what’s consuming it. Here’s how my neighbor handled that.
Interesting after-action report – they spread all the grindings, ripped the ground to six feet, came in with a special soil processor that incorporated the grindings and flattened the field, and now they’re laser planing it. Will new almonds go in or will it go fallow or to another crop? IDK.
Some Indians own the land. They’ve been buying up farms from the old Russians for the last couple decades. I would expect, by the army of gigantic machines that attacked the field, they spent close to six figures to remove that orchard. Clearly someone has money. That ain’t me.
Wouldn’t laser planing suggest rice as the new crop?
Level ground is critical when the irrigation method is flooding.
Eggs jumped a lot more than 6% just from November till now.
60 AA eggs at Walmart: $9 end of November 2022, $14 by January 2023
Idaho/Washington area
18 eggs $8 in NE NC now. Was under $1.50 for years. What’s that, a 450% increase? Egg farms and food processing plants by the hundreds burning down worldwide “mysteriously”. We are at war folks. If the jab didn’t kill ya, starvation just may.
And this is on top of the previous years’ price increases as the food price inflation cycle started more than 12 months ago.
No good news here.
Have you looked at the cost of supplies for your personal gardens lately? Everything is up. Last fall, starter plants for broccoli, celery, etc. were $6 for a 6 pack at Lowe’s. The same grower’s 6 packs were $2.48-$2.98 in the spring of 2021 and $3.48 last spring.
Seeds are up as well. I’ve been buying things like fertilizer, mushroom compost and worm castings a bit at a time and am happy to have them.
Pro tip for southern gardeners: Both the bottom and top of the containers that Waffle House uses for take out and left overs make excellent drip trays for potted plants. Save where you can!
Last time I was in Lowes, Bonnie Plants were selling at $5.75 for one cabbage! My heart nearly stopped! Who on earth would pay that for a seedling cabbage? Seriously, you can buy a full grown one for that much, but better to spend $3 for 200 seeds and grow them!
Egg cartons with pinholes in the bottom are great for planting seedlings.
Good idea, Missy. I use ice cube trays and put two holes in each cube with an ice pick. Used to be able to get 3 for $1 at Dollar Tree, but don’t know what they are now. I use the same ones I’ve had for years.
Dollar tree still has garden seeds 4 for a dollar
If they are hybrid seeds, you can get one crop out of them, but the seeds those veggies produce will be sterile, or unfit to make a second crop.
I got several at a thrift store, the old sturdy types that came with pre-icemaker fridges.
What a great idea. Can’t believe I never thought of that before!
Thanks , Missy. Bugs the heck out of me to not have a “second use” for egg cartons before throwing them out. Awesome!!!
I’m the same way! My mom was a depression baby, so her ingenuity with how to reuse things was amazing.
We buy from Amish greenhouses. Find one.
No Amish in this area, unfortunately. We have several nurseries but I’ll be taking a road trip to go to a nursery about 50 miles north because they have an amazing selection of vegetable starts sold individually that they raise from seed in their greenhouses. I’m combining this with a trip to a Ledo’s pizza restaurant about 40 miles north of that because I miss their pizza and it’s the closest one to me. It’s a great day trip.
Union Grove, NC may be too far. Nothing I can find in SC, but there are a few Mennonites. We live in a an area of Kentucky with many Amish families.
It’s a good 4 hours away. I plan to take a vacation in the fall and go over to western SC to see some places I’ve only read about and I’m going to incorporate a trip to one of the Amish stores in NC that is up in that area. We had an Amish market where I lived in Maryland and I bought a lot of spices and baking ingredients in bulk there. I miss being able to drive 90 minutes to Lancaster, PA, to spend a day going to the shops, seeing the quilts, etc. I don’t miss the Maryland taxes, regulations and weather, though
Live near the original Ledo’s pizza. Haven’t been in quite awhile. They DO have the BEST pizza!!!
Thanks!
whole foods has organic seeds for less than $3.00 per package
I want to say $2.69.
Bunnies make great fertilizer, and it doesn’t even stink or have to be seasoned like chix poop, so it doesn’t burn up the plants.
Stock your pantry! On canned goods don’t purchase the ring-pull tops. They spoil and rust rapidly. Purchase only the good old fashioned sealed cans.
Plant your gardens, and if you can afford a high tunnel then get one! Time has all but run out for those on fixed incomes.
Think about everyday expensive items and stock up. Fill the freezer with butter, frozen veg while your garden grows. Get a food saver machine and seal the things you purchase etc Bottled water, store all you can in a cool shaded place, and don’t get the squishy 16oz bottles, because after 6 months they leak. Get the gallon, or bigger. The plastic is sturdy and will last 5 years.
No joke, we are headed to 4th El Nino and temps will be scorching. Get shade cloth, and expect mega droughts around the globe. Prepare!
February is national canned food month, so you should find a lot of sales on canned goods. March is frozen food month, so if you have room in your freezer, you should find some good deals then.
f
Why would John and 99% of black farmers go against the will of God? If you voted for Biden you voted for abortion, and killing babies is not supported by God.
The traditional black church does not preach about the 10 Commandments, fornication, not working = not eating, coveting, adultery, etc. It’s an entirely different thing than a traditional white church.
And only one man can claim to have driven up the prices of higher farmer gasoline related cost and that’s Joseph Arsehole Biden.
Thank you very much
To the merry Davos band of criminals.
How much more do we have to endure until someone takes them all out?
A carton of 18 eggs today at Publix was $13.00.
I’m still buying eggs for $2 at my local grocer, on sale. Regular $3. This whole egg thing mystifies me. I wonder how much of the price inflation is related to location. My experience is the bigger the city, the higher the price. There is a point when you get very rural that the price starts back up.
VibeMan, you shopping at Ruler?
Holy… !!!!!
Central Fl last week18 large at Publix were 8.59, this week 9,.25 so yes creeping up there.
Scary. What state?
“99% of black farmers voted for Biden”…well, no thanks to you and the 99 percenters for making all of us now reap what you sow.
Bravo, Sir!!
He states 99% of black farmers supported and voted for Biden. There’s our problem….too many folks can’t pull their head from arse long enough to get blood flow to the main brain. Damn! Learn your history!
Imho, this manufacture food inflation is going to make the next President Donald Trump so popular as he will expose the scam. Turning those fat profits back to the folks. Have no fear, it is gonna happen🙏🙏🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸☕️🍩
They want to bankrupt farmers. They want all food production in their control and to reduce the amount of food available. Control the food control the people.
The day is fast approaching when you will have to comply with the beast system to eat.
People will certainly choose to eat.
Many will take the wide road and some, the path less traveled.
The Holodomor was much in the same vein. To get rid of the troublemakers and/or the nonconforming and to more easily control the rest.
Isn’t it interesting that we were never taught about the Holodomor in school or university?
Sorry. I would rather die. We all die, even the idiots whom we don’t know above Soros, WEF, and the Rothschilds ALL die.
Christ, Himself died (for us). He came back to life, however.
These idiots think they’re gods. (THAT’S the root of our problem!)
You can’t take money, fame, or power with you. (total idiots!)
And we ALL have to stand in front of Almighty God in judgment one day.
What? Your so selfish that you and your family cant miss eating one day a week so Little Z can have a few more tanks? Eating that important to you?

Mike,
I am hoping that ya forgot the , “/S” for “Sarcasm”, to go along with your comment…
I think ya missed putting it in there, so “I” am willing to go along thinking you meant it that way.
😉
If not….
and I am mistaken about your forgetting the “/S” part…
Well if that is how it is…, “Bless your heart“, for your sincerity.
Have a Nice day~!
😉
” Keep on Truckin”.
It’s safe to assume the “/s” on this website.
OK, but sometimes I am not so sure that is how a reply is meant.
But I will take your word for it.
😉
Thnnks for the “heads up”.
Don’t forget Kratky hydroponic set ups. It’s all over UTube.
Our tub in the spare bathroom has three 3 gallon tubs growing anywhere between 6 and 18 black seeded simpson and tom thumb lettuce heads year round. Set it and forget it until they bolt. Use 5000K LED bulbs on goosenecks with clamps on the soap dish in the wall. Much better than outside down here in SWFL–the rains smash the crap out of them and the light is too strong and the critters and bugs are too much to control.
Mexican currants (ebay people sell them) are also profuse producers that just need a bit of flicking when they bloom and do well down here in partial shade of the tunnel greenhouse–the whiteflys won’t touch them and no fungus so far. They eat up tropical heat and that doesn’t affect there pollen.
In your tunnels, grow pumpkins and cucumbers vertically…it works. Lots of guidance hangers like the weed guys do. The mildew/fungus is an issue down here, but either copper or Captan slows it down. Remember….Those green onions can be re-planted if you don’t chop down all the way on them , so, you have a never ending supply of those in your tunnel. Green peppers also like the sun protection in the tunnel.
Now….go make a salad.
Problem is that those black farmers made a huge economic mistake voting for Biden. Biden cares nothing for farmers, black or white. These and other farmers need to recognize that their only help would come from America First policies, not from the green energy agenda.
From what I have seen over the years the government has been out to destroy the family farms and limit food production.
I-80 from my ‘hood all the way to the split for I-35 in Iowa…are cornfields…there used to be more dairy farms with lots of cows….there are less now…the few that remain, the barns are falling apart…the farm houses have seen better days….
The highway in Iowa City, home of the University of Iowa, is pretty good, last time I was by there….same up in Ames–sort of…..Iowa State is the stepchild, I think….
The cornfields, right before harvest, are very tall, taller than I remember as a kid…and the stalks are compacted very tightly together…perfectly vertically straight….no natural plant grows that perfect unless engineered.
Big Ag doing what big anything does best….controls the market. Too big to fail. Gotta get the corn for ethanol gas.
Little farmer, not so much.
Yup. Same no matter where you go, or what the crop is.
For A LONG TIME!
buying only items on sale except for basics got tp at walgreens 10 for $6.00 got my dr to prescribe rx generic for 40 mg as he knows i will cut them in half for the needed 20 mg per day thus spending less we can hurt pharm co using good rx as cheaper than caremark plan we have and this good rx even varies store to store God bless all trumpers as we place first God, family and country like the amish CTH is our chosen family
As long as you do not mind ‘Good Rx’ selling your personal data including medical to every single one of the big tech data vacuums.
For the ladies….I will repeat one of my posts from a week ago….was in Wally World needing socks and I don’t like the brands they carry for ladies….never have.
I buy boys size large sox, I wear a ladies size 7 shoe….and the boys athletic socks fit me perfectly and hold up very nicely. I got 3 in a pack for $4.78….
Kohls and Penny’s (I refuse to go to Target)….a 3 pack of ladies sox, close to $18.00…$12ish in Wally World (and they don’t fit right)….
I have been known to buy boys extra large sweat pants for half the price of a lower quality ladies pair of sweat pants….and sweat shirts…
Remember playground rules….”its not nice to throw sand….”
Well Mr Boyd Jr,
You and
99% of your kind , black farmers, votes for what you got
Shame on you for never learning from your mistakes
I want my ammo subsidy!
This morning I did something I’ve never done in my life – after paying at the McD’s drive through and looking in horror at the receipt, I parked and took my food back into the store and asked to talk to the manager, sure I had been overcharged. The meal in question, which I order about once per month at most, was two small egg and sausage burritos plus a small hash brown and a large black coffee. Six months ago this meal was $5.74 at the drive through. Today? $11.24, nearly $6 higher than six months ago.
Now since I don’t order fast food very often I was shocked at these new prices. Every meal, and I mean every single breakfast combo meal at McDonalds, is now $6.99 each and that is without any drink of OJ, coffee, milk, etc. The manager told me that price was $3.99 last summer. So a 75% price increase on the basic combo meal in six months.
This has to be absolutely killing the working class construction guys who typically go to fast food breakfast drive throughs a couple of times per week on their way to the job. My goodness, I don’t know how anyone is surviving these food prices out there. I shudder at the thought of going grocery shopping again in the near future. But one thing’s for certain, no more fast food breakfasts for me. I’ll just drink coffee for breakfast now. $11.24 is what used to get one a nice four egg omlet at a decent sit down diner foer breakfast. Not McD’s low quality sausage/egg burritos
The price of the egg has tripled, the sausage has nearly doubled, and potatoes are 1.5 times what they were.
Do you know why, during the Depression, moms fixed grits or oatmeal for breakfast? And saved the grease and/or dripping from a ham to put on top? We’ve either got to starting “living poor” or going hungry.
Yes, I grew up with parents who were born in 1935 so both my mother and grandmother did those kinds of things when we were growing up. Re-using tin foil multiple times, saving plastic containers instead of buying tupperware, meat once a week at most, then chicken, then thin pork chops. We weren’t rich by any stretch by my mom did the best she could with hamburger helper and store brand corn flakes on the baked chicken instead of KFC or even shake n bake.
Exactly, but my parents who born around WWI lived through that depression and never had a lot of money all their lives. It was hard when I was a kid, seeing how other kids lived and what they had, but I’m glad now because I can live like my parents did and be perfectly content. It’s a little more work, but there’s also a satisfaction in the accomplishment.
I still do all of those things!
Tin foil, plastic containers, etc.
Seems kinda crazy not to?
I hesitate before I throw something in the trash and think about reusing it. Lately it’s TP and paper towel tubes for starting veg seedlings indoors.
Last night’s dinner was ham and bean soup made from a leftover ham bone and dried beans.
Night before that was chicken corn chowder made with corn broth from last summer’s corn cobs when I canned the sweet corn and chicken broth from leftover bones.
Night before that was mashed sweet potatoes simmered in chicken broth. (Hint – this is a deeeelicious game changer for any mashed spud. Save the potato/chicken broth for another night’s veg soup.)
I have canned up gallons of broths made from all kinds of things that normally go straight into the trash – chicken, turkey and bbq rib bones… ham bones, beef bones, shrimp shells and vegetable scraps. We have been enjoying them all fall and winter, no preservatives or additives and it’s free nourishment. The girls love how fast and strong their nails grow too.
Huh? I was always taught that when things went bad for farmers … they just had to EAT their losses? That the EVIL people who set market prices screw over the farmers?
I would dare say the vast majority of farmers are conservative. Just as within the oil industry. The left want to utterly destroy the wealth of conservatives… thru taxation and marketplace destruction. Trust me … it’s a tactic.
And when the farmers go bankrupt, any guesses who’s going to sweep in and lay claim to what remains?
Did you know plants can get nutrients from microbes?
https://www.rutgers.edu/news/how-plants-harness-microbes-get-nutrients
And did you also know that compostables can be cultured/fermented? You grow lots of good bacteria and use it as fertilizer.
JADAM Organic Farming, Korean Natural Farming and Biodynamic Farming.
Search the topic of nitrogen fixation. Microorganisms have been an integral part of the ecosystem from earth’s beginnings. Lots of work going on looking for ways to make it all more efficient.
Good point. It turns out that legumes are just one option, here. Because some nitrogen-fixing bacteria associates with grasses. And some is free-living in the soil.

Excellent podcast and reasonable prices when I’ve ordered anything.
have any legitimate scientists researched the effects of nitrogen use
on the climate and published their findings?
That research would most likely be overshadowed by the “official” research that dictates flooding the corn field with nitrogen to grow corn for ethanol production is best for the environment, and any amount of fertilizer applied to grow corn for human consumption is global warming, climate changing, sky is falling evil and bad.
You mean like cow facts? roflol!
Incredibly I read the reason why they want to convert us from eggs/meat to bugs for protein is because it is cheaper to produce bugs than eggs or meat products for consumers.
And eggs are protective against a certain strain of illness. Hint, hint, cough, cough!
Bet Brandon tells us wages are up and inflation is down. He loves sampling Hunter’s drugs.
I needed that smirk! Thanks!
My heart hurts as I read through the comments. Some are frightened, some are all alone and ready to die, some have invested much to ‘prepare’ with what means they have been given. What we see happening in our country has been in the works for decades. Today I read how the UN is planning on ‘International Laws’ regarding medical matters as well as ‘religious beliefs’ that are contrary to the perversion that has become blatant. When did the UN become the ‘one world gov’ that was predicted in Scripture?
I’ve also been reading about the pope’s statements along with two other ‘religious leaders’ in regards to certain matters. The ‘one world religion’ is also beginning to take form. Persecution is sure to follow.
One world gov and the ‘religious prophet’ that paves the way for the anti-Christ was all foretold in Scripture. John 14:29 “And now I have told you before it comes, that when it does come to pass, you may believe.”
John 14: 27 Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. 28 You have heard Me say to you, ‘I am going away and coming back to you.’…..
God has led different Folks to prepare in different ways. What is right for one may not be right for another. We each must do what we each are led to do. But we must all pray, obey, and keep our eyes on Jesus. He is our only Hope. God always preserves a remnant.
And remember He also said, the meek shall inherit the earth.
My hunch is the government wants it to get bad enough that it can justify taking over distribution and rationing food directly. In which case, I would bet the farm that food supplies will be diverted to urban areas, those illegally present, and those with good “social scores” (i.e. minorities and the obedient) while the rest of the citizenry starves. They are that evil, and they will sell you a loaf of bread for your soul.
They can have my loaf. I’ll keep my Eucharist/Blessed Sacrament and my soul. Thank you very much!

Well, at least he got that right. Idiots, the lot of them.
My family farm/ranches in flyover land. The biggest issue right now is the cost of fertilizer. Without it yields plummet. I don’t know how long the crop insurance industry can stay afloat with all the claims. Literally the only thing keeping farmers from bankruptcy. Hubby and I are cutting back our cattle herd by half. We’ll always have beef on hand to feed ourselves and our family but protein input costs are massive and the drought last year really damaged the pasture/hay quality. We’ve built our own butcher shop at our house and have been processing deer/hogs/turkey/cattle for friends/family. I’m incubating and hatching chicks right now to give away to friends/family to help support their personal food security. We have a network of locals that are all supporting each other. I suggest others do the same. Become as self sufficient as possible. I don’t think people realize just how bad the food shortages are going to get.
Our food, like everything else, is heavily subsidized by the government.
We weren’t supposed to live through the plandemic.
Remember the dairyman in Canada who is being forced to flush milk down the drain? Not only does that affect milk pricing, it affects the pricing of all the other products that come from milk and the nutrients therein. Cream, butter, etc.

Any word from the National WHITE Farmers Association?
They are under attack from the DOJ for being terrorists.
Complete BS. Independent Farmers and Ranchers have little control over the price they get for the fruits of their labor, and even less control of the input cost.
I seriously hope he doesn’t speak for all black farmers. I would think farmers were more practical than this man. They supported Biden?! WHY?!
White Supremacy is a real problem unless you chose to fall for the load of free horse manure WHITE Biden (+ half breed Obama) promised.
Now you’re stuck with mounds of it because you pretended this white man behind it isn’t a snake oil salesman.
You’ve chosen a destructive ideology over running a business and we’re all paying for it.
Boo hoo!
Remember famous times from Andrew Breitbart and Shirley Sherrod, revolving around the billion dollar or so payout to black farmers, because they had been discriminated against? Followed by a 675 million dollar payout to native American farmers for the same reason. Following those payouts, I was at a Farm Service Agency meeting where a Hispanic woman as part of the program was trying to gin up Hispanic farm women sign ups for another similar payout…..
When the class for litigation was being identified for the action against the government, there were about 5,000 black farmers. But when the USDA made the payout, the class numbered, as I remember, 80,000 black farmers. With one signature, from the secretary of Ag, the lawsuit went away and the government was to pay.
The USDA is a political slush fund, where some 80% of its budget goes to fund food nutrition programs. I am a farmer, do not want aid from the government, and would think the USDA should spend its it budget on agriculture…..
Erratic weather impact to planting, growth and harvest when coupled with high costs of fuel to operate farm equipment and drying machinery in itself is devastating. Add to that the assault on food processing facilities to date in excess of 140 across the nation including the destructive fire at Hillandale Farms egg production as well as hundreds of millions of chickens destroyed because of “Avian flu”. If you haven’t already made necessary improvements in building a productive garden, laid in a stock of seeds and started a backyard flock of chickens, you may want to ramp up your efforts. Time is short and our food supply is dwindling by the day.
“biden came to us and we supported him overwhelmingly”
that’s where they went wrong. supporting those who want to ruin you.
