In the background of the Republican dynamic, CTH has been reminding everyone about the nature of the Republican National Committee (RNC) and Democrat National Committee (DNC) being private clubs, private corporations, unaffiliated with government. Most casual voters do not understand what this key and important distinction means within U.S. elections.
There are two private corporations representing Republicans and Democrats; they are most commonly referred to as political parties. There is no basis for the existence of private political parties in the United States constitution. Both parties function from a position as private interests outside the framework of government.
What we commonly refer to as ‘politicians’ are selected representatives to the government from each of the corporations. What we commonly refer to as ‘primary elections’ are suggestions to each of the corporations from citizens expressing their preference for the representative. The corporation can individually choose to accept or decline the suggestion from the voters, and the only thing that binds the corporation to follow the suggestion are the corporate rules.
The corporation of the RNC and DNC exist to serve their own interests. Politics is the RNC and DNC business; however, the income stream -the financial aspects to the business- is what holds influence over the corporate priority. Ideology is part of the equation, but control of the business and generating revenue is the main function of the corporation. Unfortunately, in the reality of the business model, election outcomes are downstream from those two priorities.
It is with this corporate baseline in mind that all ‘primary election’ political analysis should take place. The economics of the thing is what Republican officers in the RNC emphasize. Without money, the corporate mission doesn’t operate. Without money the RNC members -essentially board members- do not function, hold meetings, assemble, or participate in the organization. Therefore, from the standpoint of the corporation, the business of politics (inputs) drives the activity, not election results (outputs).
This facet to U.S. politics is rarely discussed because the corporations and the people who run them do not want this process emphasized. However, if voters do not comprehend this dynamic, they can fall victim to the fallacy of false representative choice.
The corporation is made up of members. The members make the rules. The members have preferences and ideological outlooks about the objective of the corporation as part of their position within it. Inside this dynamic is where you see the changing of rules to benefit the preferences of the members; ultimately influencing outcomes.
Unlike most political sites, CTH watches this inside club dynamic closely, because ultimately it explains a lot of ‘consequences’ that we see later discussed. It is easier to just sit back and discuss the consequences than it is to watch the officials inside the club make rule changes proactively. However, it is by watching the rule changes that we can see the roadmaps of influence within game as played by both RNC and DNC corporations.
Any political commentary that does not take this private club dynamic into consideration, and/or explain the consequences from decisions within the club, is not serving the interests of the American electorate.
The winter meeting of the RNC is taking place January 25-27th, in Dana Point California at the Waldorf Astoria – Monarch Beach Resort. There are 168 members who will be in attendance (3 from every state) along with various RNC and national republican leadership.
This RNC corporate meeting, and the votes by the members, will determine the Republican Club rules for the 2024 election cycle. Rules on primary dates, sequence, apportionment of delegates, distribution of delegates, state sequencing, qualifications and much more will be decided.
Rules that govern the candidates and campaigns of those who choose to run on the corporate identity of “Republican” will also be determined. Rules on financial agreements, expectations for data sharing, fundraising, contribution expectations (both directions) and much more will be determined.
It is inside this dynamic where one of the key club control battles is likely to take place. It’s mostly boring and seemingly parliamentary stuff {Example Here}, but it has massive ramifications.
Some RNC members support MAGA, some do not. Some RNC members support the Wall Street alignment, some do not. Some members support the populist movement, others do not. Some RNC members support a big tent approach to a working-class coalition, other RNC members regard the working-class as beneath their representative interests. The key point is that it’s a private club making these decisions.
The majority decision from within the club membership vote will determine each outcome(s). Donald Trump may have earned 100 million voters and supporters, but only 168 unelected members and party officials will determine what that means to their corporate agenda.
There is no guarantee the America-First agenda of Donald Trump is in alignment with the 2023 priorities of the club. Factually, all recent suggestions from the club control officers, the billionaire Wall Street donors like Ken Griffin, all suggest the removal of Trump and the MAGA agenda from association with the RNC Club should be the priority of the assembly. The dynamic of financial influence, income to the corporation, changes the entire mechanism of the outcome.
As noted by ‘Niagara Frontier‘: “I’m watching for last-minute RNC rule changes for the national primaries and the selection of convention delegates. If we start hearing anybody, anywhere float a proposal in favor of Republican super delegates for the national convention, it’s total war.”
Niagara is absolutely correct. The internal battle deep inside the club, fraught with influence, power dynamics and cliques positioning for control, is the part of the political dynamic that everyone should be watching closely.
We will be….
for a number of years (too old to admit to how many — LOL) being a paid up member of the NRCC and making annual contributions to the RNC was de rigueur. After 2020 ? NOPE ! Support my local Rep as best I can — does a gr8 job. Can’t support my senators.
Way too many in both party organizations seem venal.
Every time time I see Mitten’s niece in her pretend role as the head of the RNC, I’m reminded of the old saying; ” No matter how much makeup you put on a sow, it’s still just a pig”
Yikes! 🙁
You may put lipstick on a pig but it is still a pig. AKA “make superficial changes to something regarded with dislike or disfavor in a fruitless attempt to make it more appealing.”
No insulting the pigs!
Exactly, not sure what Ronna did to her lips lately. She must have gone to a third rate plastic surgeon.
there is something they fail to comprehend. If they fork with Trump, none of them will have a job.
I pray that’s true!
The business of the entity (organized this year under DC entity law) known as RNC consists of holding the national convention. So the standing rules committee makes the rules for designation of delegates to the national convention. As you write, the national conventions are not considered under any constitutional provision. There’s nothing stopping MAGA from holding its own national convention. That’s more or less what Lincoln did in 1864, rejecting the republican party convention and instead holding his own “National Union Party” convention in Baltimore. Lincoln wanted to get away from progressive influence, relying on “Union Committees” in the main cities for grass root support. The members of the RNC are provided by the 56 “state” parties. The state parties are their own entities. In my state the 3 reps to the RNC are elected by delegates to the state convention. How this is done is subject to our state party rules, which are voted on and adopted at convention. The time place and manner of elections for federal and state offices, within federal framework, is set by state constitution and election law. National convention delegates and alternates are elected at state convention, subject to allocation rules of the RNC.
My state constitution provides for voting “choice of political party affiliation or nonpartisanship shall be preserved”. It allows “A presidential preference primary may be held as provided by law.”
Note that “primaries” have been instituted by progressive state legislatures under the “manner” provision as part of the progressive movement in the late 19th/early 20th century, same thing that gave us Amendment XVII. The republican party of that period was the progressive party, though maybe with some conservatives who might have been termed RINOs like Conkling. I would consider McKinley as the start of conservatism in the republican party in opposition to the populist movement of the day (think Bryan/cross of gold). McKinley/Taft would be seen as RINO resulting in Roosevelt forming his own progressive third party (Bull Moose). In general I would say conservatism does not align well with populism, which typically is heavily invested in ideas such as economic equality.
And the parties are under no obligation to honor your “preference” you express in your primary, either. They REALLY don’t want you to realize that, and its implications.
Will Trump be there?
In their heads, rent free.
Obama stole the 2008 primary with the help of the DNC. Then the DNC met to create special rules to steal the Democrat primary from Bernie Sanders in 2016.
I assume we can expect similar efforts from the RNC in the 2024 primaries.
If only Hillary and Bernie would have had morals. They both endorsed Obama. Hillary got her lucrative Secretary of State position (which enriched her Clinton Foundation), Bernie got a $600k vacation home to add to his real estate portfolio.
Morals? ROFLOL!!!! If people, ALL people, had morals, we wouldn’t be in the situation we’re currently in!
What they don’t understand is that we will remain true to Donald J. Trump and we will not allow them to control us. I would rather lose a battle then surrender to the war. F’em. They have no clue of our staying power.
Yes! The more crap the Ryan & Barr types talk, the more MAGA I get! 🇺🇸
Hold on, not so fast, Ronna!
Mike Lindell just announced on his Frank Speech program “The Lindell Report” that members of State RNC groups have suggested to him that he run for Chair of the RNC.
He’s considering it and praying on it and he will make his decision known on Bannon’s WarRoom on Monday. Mike is asking for feedback at [email protected] – he wants to know what people think.
I’ve already told him I will rejoin the RNC and begin donating again if he becomes Chair. I will not support the corrupt RNC under McDaniel.
Run Mike Run we need someone honest.
Mike has a big mouth, and little self-control. If he had kept his mouth shut in those first two absurd “documentaries”.
I doubt that he would be able to learn and use Robert’s Rules to his advantage. And HES NOT A MEMBER OF TGE CLUB.
Lindell is a good man but his judgment isn’t the best. He is his own worst spokesman sometimes.
Good comments. I will not support the RNC until they have a MAGA chairperson. I will contributed to Save America and to MAGA candidates only.
Why not just abolish both RNC & DNC? Seems the cat is out of the bag and American people have been played for suckers for generations. MAGA
Against my better judgement an independent Constitutional party might be the only solution.
Overwhelming voter turnout and sentiment has NOT worked, and has been negatively effective.
Any solution?
No. However my husband & I attended a large “meeting” held in several classrooms of a grade school. The meeting was to select delegates to the RNC for our state.
Both of us felt like we’d fallen down the rabbit hole!
No direction, other than signs & all delegates seemed pre-selected regardless of which room we went to.
“What the hell was that about?” was all we could say on our way home. We were both long involved in local politics, but nothing of that sort.
Those people wanting to change or take over the GOPe are delusional, IMO. NEVER GONNA HAPPEN!
I just searched to find the Illinois RNC officals. They are Richard Porter and Demetra DeMonte.
I searched for info about Porter and found that he’s a Ronna McDaniel ally:
After last Tuesday’s election, several McDaniel allies who serve on the RNC, including Richard Porter of Illinois, Glenn McCall of South Carolina and Jessica Patterson of California, began calling to other committee members to encourage them to support McDaniel’s reelection. (Politico)
DeMonte seems to be better, or at least was in 2016:
Demetra DeMonte, former secretary for the RNC and national committeewoman for Illinois, sent an email to all 168 members of the RNC urging them to rally around their nominee. “When I received calls and folks were upset about the language — they were more upset that their elected officials were abandoning Trump at the first sight of trouble.” The email made the case that while Trump was not a “perfect man,” he was their lawfully elected nominee and urged for all to stand by him so he could win the election. (CNBC)
Ditch the useles McPublicans! So the Democrats win? What have they BEEN doing these last 100 years? Are we anything like the USA as founded? States’ rights? Fourth amendment? First amendment? Second amendment? All gone or seriously curtailed. In 1964 Goldwater was destroyed by GOP that preferred the Democrat (foreshadowing 2016, 2020, 2022). Reagan ran on making America great again. He was shot and nearly killed 2 months into his presidency. Perot tried to warn us. And then Trump. We need a MAGA party. We might lose but we would at least have a choice not an echo (Goldwater’s slogan).
That was actually the title of a book by Phyliss Schlafly, Goldwater supporter and early conservative activist. Major player in derailing the “Equal Rights Amendment”.
I will only give to candidates that accept my money directly into their account I will not share with the RNC or anything with PayPal.
If you give to most R candidates, you’ll be giving through the corrupt, RINO-enriching, gridting Winred, and not only charge about 4% for executing the donation, but they also harvest your info. They will then sell it, and you get spammed by all these candidates, RNC affiliates, etc.
Send your candidate a check instead.
People are losing their jobs and both parties all think about are their grifts?
Yup.
What if the people formed a coalition outside the RNC? Couldn’t Mike Lindell start something? We would support American First candidate’s in the Republican Party. Mike knows how they rig elections and it would be the new improved with the new director on how to win elections. Mike would hire all the lawyers to fight the legal battles and the folks from True the Vote and we support this group. This group would have to go against all the big corporations. People will have to get involved and raise a boat load of money. Remember they are afraid of losing control. Not sure what the legal ramifications are, but Mike has attorneys for this.
The GOP does not recognize or care that the ONLY reason I donated a whopping $50 to them in 2020 was to support the election of Trump. By moving away from Trump, they have lost my interest. I don’t really care what they do or who they run. Anyway, it’s not about the voters, it’s about the donors. I’m good for $50 or $100 at best. Not per month. Total per election cycle. See, I’m just a voter looking for candidates or a party that will solve the problems I care about, not just talk about them.
It’s impossible to get a presidential candidate registered on a state ballot, unless he is affiliated with a political party.
You are not in a position to “demand” anything. You probably aren’t a KY resident, and you aren’t a member of the Club. Which is what Sundance said.
They are the Two-Party Dictatorship which keeps all others at bay. The stranglehold of all governments around the country by these two private entities simplifies control by reducing competition. Since these two collude to bar entry of competition and have brainwashed far too many American Citizens, what can be done ?
For over one hundred years, such has been the state of despondency in the electorate to match inversely the joy and contentment of the Two-Party Dictatorship. People go along as groupies to the alure of belonging to something above their understanding. And, coupled by growth of advertisement in the same time period, it’s no wonder the trap set by these two groups has continued.
Swaying enough people away and to a new political party is very hard. The non-voters are of an untapped number to win elections, but as they never vote, chances are slim to recruit them. Thus, it sucks bigtime to topple the Dictatorship.
There is one permanent solution to the RNC, form a true conservative party, bury the Republican Party and be prepared to protect and defend the Constitution as necessary. In a couple of years the Republican Party is an empty shell.
Soon it’s gonna be time to wreck the republican party.
I can’t wait!
Super delegates it is then. The transformation to the Democrat Party is complete. We shall see if Dan Schultz and precinctstrategy.com made a difference.
Other corporations have been trying to force their ideological products off on the public and the public have been increasingly rejecting those products. The Get Woke Go Broke sales model.
And in the case of a monopoly, the public goes about creating their other option.
This is taking place now as word keeps spreading not to donate to RNC but directly to candidates, but that is just the start.
So we know where they’re meeting — someone, quick, start planting bugs!
Actually, most of those 168 are elected by their state GOP Central Committee. My state of Colorado sends one RNC Committeeman and one Committeewoman to the proceedings. Perhaps the third person you speak of is the State GOP Chair, also elected by the state central committee.
80+ million MAGA x $100 = $8 billion = MAGA party war chest
Starve the beast. DO NOT send money to the RNC.
i think we need a major groundswell for MIKE LINDELL…………………. am sick of these freaking unelected elitists making the rules
in nj …one of the three who apparently has a voice in this decision is a woman and has already signed on for SLEAZY MCDANIELS….
VIRGINIA HAINES…..
i have only attended 2 county meetings since retiring to Ocean County NJ (we are in a supposedly red area)
both times the members of the commissioners were condescending and rude and of course, anything/everything i said was ignored/dismissed
creepy Haines has aligned herself with all the rinos…now she and the sheriff are having a brand NEW PRISON built…….WASTING TONS OF TAXPAYERS $$$$$$
like there is so much crime down here….the pathetic sheriff just wants a big castle for himself…..
i think we should do everything we can to get rid of SLEAZY MMCDANIELS
Please contact Mike Lindell at [email protected] and express your support for his RNC chair run.
I think it’s kind of B’s. Our elected officials… republican party..hung Trump out to dry. You said you didn’t care what the people you represent say or want…you decided to side with the establishment. Who cares that they committed treason and Rico act violations to do it. Republicans were silent. They falsified documents, lied to the courts, conspired with big tech to sensor the people you claim to represent and the same time flat out lying on national television in an effort to keep Trump from winning. You stayed silent. Trump wanted an investigation into Hunter’s family dealings in a country known for corruption, but y’all tried to impeach Trump for it. Republicans and Democrats conspired with big tech, the media, and federal law enforcement officers to censor the laptop story. Told American people it was Russia..when the FBI had it in their possession. According to capital investigations reports…the mega movement wasn’t where they believed the violence was going to come from. The left was what they were worried about. Then the communications they were getting with threats…they were told not to do a report on. They said they basically got in trouble for the reports in summer of 2020 riots. And the rules for filing reports were changed which created confusion about what should/not be reported. There was one report done. But administration said they would have to talk to Superior. But didn’t get back until January 8th. That combined with the fact that FBI is crooked and has been since it’s inception and the fact that there were “informants” in capital. And the fact that the only part of the electorial process that didn’t get finished was the states contesting their electors. Sure makes sense.
MAGA needs to run candidates on both sides. Take the Uniparty for what it’s worth. Run MAGA on both sides and let the best MAGA win. It’s the only way to stop the steal.
