Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name. Thy kingdom come. THY WILL BE DONE, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but DELIVER US FROM EVIL.
For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever and ever. Amen †

It’s interesting how evolutionists like to bend “theories” around like a pretzel to make up non-existent evolutionary links.
They like to claim the 99% of dna man shares with chimpanzees as proof of an evolutionary link. But for those random mutations, man would never exist.
The one percent difference in dna is made up of about 35 million chemical base pairs that separate man from chimp.
One late minister illustrated the impossibility of this randomness by asking how many times a bag full of 35 million scrabble tiles would need to be dumped before the random order of the dump would spell out the complete alphabetized unabridged dictionary?
Like the feather on the dinosaur, they dodge the problem with the simple assertion: “Hey, it happened.”

Or, “given enough time . . .”
Time is the hero of evolutionism.
I recently discovered Beth Hart and have been listening to a lot of her music and interviews. Most of it is too loud and intense, but there are some gentler gems and I’m posting one of them here. Beth has bi-polar illness and it’s a bear to deal with as any Treeper with this illness, or who loves someone with it, likely knows….
Sorry I missed Caturday for an update, but here’s the latest on my beloved Maine Coon Trump cat.
It is the worst. Finally got the results from the last test, and she has an invasive cancer which is growing quickly. The past week has been hell, trying to figure out how to feed her and keep her comfortable.
Except for this, she is amazingly healthy in every other way. Devastating.
She always loved the Trump Rallies (yes, seriously) and would jump up by me when she heard his voice. She would sit and stare at the computer, watching, mesmerized. Funny, sweet, smart, sensitive, little fur baby. She loved those rallies, and has missed them.
Tonight was probably her last Trump rally, and it was difficult for her to pay attention and enjoy. She hasn’t been eating right, and doesn’t feel well.
Thank you all, who have sent prayers. I pray for you as well.
My heart and prayer go out for you and your sweet kitty, prayer that you will keep her comfortable as best you can.
I went through this six years ago with my beloved kitty too. My kitty have invasive stomach cancer and I did everything I could to get her to eat and drink. So just keep your kitty company and comfortable, as best you can.
praying for her and for you…{{{PeoriaJ}}} 🙏🏼 BKitty
She’s just so loving and trusting…looks at me with those big green eyes, and it breaks my heart. She’s always been a huge talker, but the tumor has caused her to lose her voice. Awful for both of us. Sometimes the eye contact is the worst.
Bako, we will all meet in heaven. And there will be no more tears. Bless you.
Oh, Peoria, my girl had beautiful green eyes too., and a talker as well. Yes we will, they all our fur babies will there with our families and friends, no more tears. Bless you dear.
If you want to share, what kind of and location of tumor is it? Only if you want to share, Peoria.
It’s on her throat, in an area which not feasible to operate. I could probably find someone willing to try, if I could travel, but the surgery could easily kill her. Plus it would be very traumatic for her, and eventually grow back.
I’ve spent a lot of money on her in the past, which has bought years of healthy life. This time, it is time to accept that Our Heavenly Father inevitably calls us all home.
This has been a very expensive week, but trying to come up with the money and time for a risky surgery that would only buy her a little time at best, is also a factor. She is 17, and has had a very good life with me. She has traveled the country and had many adventures.
One day, I’m sure I’ll put my resources toward saving another one of God’s creatures, as I can’t live without one and there are so many needing homes. Too soon to think about that.
Oh, Peroia. I’m so sorry. I can hear how much you love her.
You’ve been blessed with strength and wisdom to know how to shower her with more love – perhaps the bravest act of love – when life moves beyond this time on earth.
Your cat was truly blessed the day you brought her into your home and loved her…. for so many years…. through so many adventures…. through illness and challenges… And now she is blessed, still, to have you be the loving caregiver who is keeping that little creatures life front and center and who will handle the painful loss….
Funny thing is, SHE picked ME. I’d gone in to pick up a cat I’d been visiting, and she totally stopped me with outrageous flirting. Long story short, I am the one who has been blessed. I’ve always wanted a German Shepard, and she is one – in the form of a cat!
You and I could probably write a book. A mini-blender works to get her favorite foods into liquid form – like baby food (meat baby food is hard to find now in my area). No-sodium broth or tuna juice is a better substitute for water, as it adds to smell and taste.
If it’s not totally pureed, sick cats will lick out the liquid and leave the little bits. Also, feed older or sick kitties on a plate – not a bowl. It is less stressful. They don’t like their whiskers touching the sides of bowls.
Check your kitty litter! When older or ill cats aren’t eating or pooping regularly, or have very dry poops, they may experience constipation which can be deadly or lead to very expensive vet treatment. As cats like to groom, some butter or coconut oil smeared on the front paw will help move things through. (Olive oil is good, but many cats will resent you for it, ha!)
Also, for those of us in colder climates – take off your shoes at the door! Salt and salt-substitutes are tracked in and deposited on the floor. Our fuzzy-footed felines are notorious groomers and will lick these poisons off their paws.
We could write a book!
I can hear that you’ve had many cats, but also that you’re incredibly attentive, creative, resourceful, and committed to figuring out every single thing possible to support them.
That’s so funny that you wanted a German Shepard and got a pint size one that meows! G-d has a sense of humor sometimes!
As for all your incredible tips, yes indeed, no sodium tuna water is better than water for all the reasons you say. I’ve often wished someone would just make cans of tuna water, but alas, we’re left with squeezing out every last drop from a full can of tuna. (I can only eat so much tuna, and can’t keep up with how many cans wind up opened trying to get that tuna water for our kitties when needed!)
Also, yes indeed they’ll lick/suck all that water out of pureed food and leave all the bits, as you say. Ggggrrrrrr. They are very adept with those tiny tongues. Good you have a mini blender.
And yes indeed about all your comments about grooming and pooping. We (that means hubby!) monitor the litter box very closely. (I recently learned about a new litter called Pretty Litter that sounds like a lot of hype but might be quite useful in you need to monitor their urine.) As for poop, a little bit of yam can also keep their gut motility going which is particularly helpful if they’re on any pain meds that will almost always slow that process down. I’ve never had a cat that would eat a bit of yams but have had friend’s whose cats ate it without batting an eye. Go figure.
And, yes, we became an indoor and outdoor shoe household a long time ago for several reasons, including the one you noted. We politely ask people who come to our home to do the same or wear contractor booties.
Oh, one last thing I forgot to include in my original reply which is that sometimes B12 can help with appetite and/or absorption of nutrients. And the good thing is that you don’t really need to check their levels to see if they’re deficient because it can’t build up toxicity since, like humans, any excess will just be urinated out. We started giving it to our very ill cat a few weeks ago and while we’re not sure if it increased her appetite we’re pretty confident it increased her absorption because all of a sudden she started to gain weight. It’s given as a sub-q injection behind the neck/shoulder blades in the scruff once a week for several weeks, and then scaled back to once a month. Not sure how much longer we’ll have our cat, but for now, it’s another little blessing in our bag of tricks.
<3 Cats are not at all like dogs or people, physiologically. They are basically mini-tigers.
If folks knew more about how to keep them healthy simply, kitties could avoid so much unnecessary suffering and expense.
So thankful for good kitty Moms like you, Sarah. Let’s spread the word and educate folks. Veterinary care is super expensive now, and most are overworked. People can avoid much of this, if they understand their feline friends.
You are right, Peoria. I believe dogs and cats go to Heaven because Our Lord loves us and wants his children to be happy.
Very sad to hear this news about your wonderful Maine Coon Trump cat. I will still pray and hope for the best.
Thank you, that is kind. God bless you.
Dear PJ- My heart goes out to you as you try to deal with your beloved cat’s illness.
There is nothing worse because our cats and dogs give us their unconditional love and trust regardless of the circumstances.
I have shed more tears for my animal companions than for any humans.
I will keep you in my prayers.
So sorry to hear of this sadness. Right there with you. A few ideas to help them eat. You probably know most, if not all, but should even one thing help, then good….
Sprinkle Forti Flora on the food. It’s a probiotic and has a strong smell. (Kind of like beef bouillion.) It’s a trick many vets suggest and it’s often really helpful. They make Forti Flora for dogs and one for cats, so be sure to get the one for cats. It’s sold in small individual packets, 30 packs to a box. Don’t dump the entire packet on the food, just sprinkle a little.
I think there’s another powdered product that just hit the market to attract animals to eat when their appetite is off. My vet said it’s made for dogs, but it’s ok to give cats. (We can’t give it to our cat cause it has chicken in it and she can’t eat chicken.) I’m sorry I don’t remember the name, but no doubt any pet store would know and/or your vet might, as well.
Add some water to the wet food and smush it into a smooth puree that’s easy to lick.
After you put some wet food on a plate, instead of setting it down cold from the fridge, zap it in the mircowave for 4 seconds to bring it to room temperature. It will smell better and also be easier on their stomach if it’s not cold. But be careful to only zap for a few seconds, then mix it again and make sure the plate didn’t get too hot even from just a very short while of being zapped.
Give small portions of food at a time.
If your cat likes dry food, but is having trouble chewing it or eating it for any reason, add a bit of water or broth to it to soften it up. And you can also sprinkled some Forti Flora on it, as well.
If your cat doesn’t have any dietary restrictions, try new foods to increase interest. Baby food is also worth trying and it’s easy for them to lick. Another option is cooking a strong smelling/tasting human food, like chicken liver.
Sometimes hand feeding will work if they won’t eat off their plate.
If your cat is nauseas talk to your vet about anti-emetics. Zofran, human med, can usually be given up to 2 times a day, 2 mg/dose. The lowest dose tablet is 4 mg, so you’ll have to cut it in half for each dose. Cerenia is another anti-emetic made specifically for animals for motion sickness for dogs, but is used for cats, as well. The usual dose is 4 mg/day, but some vets say it’s ok to give a bit more. The lowest dose tablet is 16 mg, so you’ll have to cut it into quarters. Use an X-Acto blade cause it’s a really tiny pill and hard to cut. (A box cutter will be too thick to get the job done well.)
If all else fails, there’s also Mirtazapene, which is an appetite stimulant, but obviously you don’t want to give that to a cat that’s nauseas. If your vet recommends it, I suggest starting at a lower dose than they typically suggest. I’ve found that many cats I’ve had over the years that needed it responded to 4 mg instead of 16 mg getting the benefit w/o the side effects (which can include pacing, howling, and generally being unsettled for the first few hours after it’s given).
If pain is an issue, I’m sure your vet will discuss pain meds.
If anything has to be compounded either to get the proper dose and/or to get the medication into a form your cat will tolerate, the best compounding pharmcy to use (in my opinion) is Stokes, in New Jersey. They ship everywhere. They only compound medication for animals and have the highest level of approval possible so the operation is incredibly top knotch. If you go to their website you can watch some videos and read about their set up. It’s truly impressive. They make meds in all different forms: capsules, liquid, flavored chewables, etc.
Unlike dogs, cats can’t go much longer than 24 hrs w/o eating a minimum amount of calories or else their liver starts to take a hit, so you might want to keep a log of feedings if your cat is really just not wanting to eat.
If I think of anything else, I type another reply.
I hope you have a skilled and compassionate vet that your trust.
Sending prayers to you and your beloved cat….
Sarah Lee those are very helpful and good suggestions, I have done many of those things with my fur babies at those hard times over the years. I wish they had Forti Flora, I didn’t know about them nor did my vet possibly know either. I will keep that idea, for the next time . Thanks for such good suggestions for anyone who needs them.
You’re welcome. I’m sure a lot of Treepers have been down this road and/or are going down the road now. You know the experience of opening your refigerator door and seeing a zillion plates and bowls with all sorts of food you tried, and they didn’t eat, covered in saran wrap, only to be dumped several days later. But you just keep trying and trying, and working with your vet, and determining the best course of action for that wondrous creature that’s burrowed into one’s heart….
A couple more thoughts….
Nutrical comes in a tube and is a high calorie supplement. It has a very strong smell that cats often can’t resist. I think they make a maple/malt flavor and a tuna flavor. And I think there might be one or two other names for the same product now. I don’t use it much because too much of it can cause diarrhea, so I try other approaches first, but it’s a good thing to have on hand to supplement and squeeze out a half inch every couple of days. But it’s not like Ensure where you can make it a staple of their diet. Still, every little bit of getting a few calories here and a few calories there adds up.
If you try baby food, make sure it’s just plain turkey, chicken, beef, ham, etc and doesn’t have any spices in it like onion, garlic, etc, that would be toxic to cats.
Another think you can try sprinkling on the food is crumbling up desiccated liver treats that most pet stores sell.
Thanks for all your good tips, Sarah. Many do not know about “fatty liver syndrome” in cats. Not eating can quickly kill a cat.
People often have self-feeders for cats, and do not realize until it’s too late.
Yes, my frig and counters have little bowls and plates all over. I’ve bought and blended every concoction. Day off today, so will be cleaning up and preparing more of what works best. Right now, we are really relying on steroids to give her comfort and strength. Started Mirataz last night, which seems to have helped a bit already.
Peoria, I was wondering if she was on steroids (prednisolone?) and, if so, if she was reaping any slight benefit from them as they will tend to increase the appetite. Glad you’re seeing some beneficial effects from the Mirtazapene. In my experience, usually a small dose will get them through at least a full 24-hr cycle, if not longer. Every cat is different and you’ll find the sweet spot of the lowest dose for the greatest benefit w/o much, if any, of the side effects.
It sounds like you’re able to pill her, so that’s excellent. And hopefully she’s drinking enough.
What a blessed cat and amazing caregiver you are.
I am keeping you both in my prayers.
I am a dog person so my knowledge is little for cats….hydration is important, I would think, to prevent kidney failure. Again, many prayers PJ.
.
PJ, I am sorry to hear this. I am praying that you will find strength for this, and that your kitty will stay comfortable. My fondest wish is that we will all see our pets someday at the Rainbow Bridge. Your Coonie cat will probably organize a Trump rally in your honor you arrive.
“Your Coonie cat will probably organize a Trump rally in your honor you arrive.”
That made me cry, because it’s exactly the kind of thing she would do! And we will snuggle, and I’ll laugh, and she’ll talk back to President Trump.
You people are the best. Thank you.
Been there many times, PJ. May God bless your last weeks with your companion, give you the strength to care for her, and ease her transition.
Lord, have mercy.
So sad to watch a pet suffer and feeling helpless. I have been there. My prayers are with you and your precious kitty
PJ, prayers up for your kitty and you.
Peoria…my prayers are on the way. It is never easy when our best friends are not well. I grieve with you.
I read a book, while losing my 13 year old Golden Retriever, to cancer. An aggressive cancer called ‘myxo-sarcoma’. No cure. The book gave me immense comfort. This dog was family…in Christmas, Easter, Graduation, First Communion pictures with my children.
The name of the book is “Will I see my dog in Heaven?”. Written by a Franciscan Friar, named Jack Wintz (he should set up an advertising royalty for me as I have recommended his book, many, many times.). He is very compassionate and soothing in his references to scripture in relation to our beloved pets crossing the Rainbow Bridge. To summarize the book, “yes, you will see your pets in heaven.”.
And I will pray for a miracle for your kitty! Hugs.
I am so sorry to hear this. You are both in my prayers.
Main Coons are the most uniquely human oriented cats I’ve ever encountered. When you become their person, it’s a bond for life. And when it’s time for them to pass on, that kind of bond just makes it all that much harder. While I truly wish things were different, reading your words here, sensing both your love and kindness for your kitty, tells me you are doing the right thing. And, because of her unique bonding ability, I’m sure your kitty understands this too.
Yes, I’ve shared my life with many kitties and dogs. All special and unique. But she is, indeed, different – like you said, most human-oriented.
Never tried to train her, but she is perfectly behaved in every way. She understands everything I say. I understand most of what she talks about, but she’s even smarter at understanding my language than I am with hers. It’s kind of eerie, how she can do this.
Thank you for your thoughts, and God Bless.
And I know He is blessing you both. 🙂

“No phones. No light. No motorcars.
living in an Amish Paradise.” ~ by Weird Al Yankovic
Always liked this, payback for the gang culture mass programming.
Love Weird Al, love the song! 🙂
I do wince at the parody a little bit, simply because I visit Amish Country often and have a great admiration for their way of life. I have an Amish step stool which was personally handcrafted and made just for me with great care, my lunch today will include ham and cheese I bought yesterday in an Amish bulk food store, and I’ve stayed in a bed and breakfast in Amish Country more than once to see the Perseid Meteor Showers since the skies are free from light pollution (though one night I was accompanied by a coyote from the nearby woods on the gravel driveway …) Would love to live simply as the Amish do while maintaining my own religious beliefs … That said, I can still appreciate the humor! 🙂
They are so good!
Oh they are good! I really enjoyed them, watched twice!
They made me think of Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers.
This song was new to me until it was played as an intro to a segment of a recent Alex Jones Infowars Show
The Highwayman – Live Forever
The following are Classics (although classic doesn’t really go far enough in describing the impact of these songs on and about America)
The Highwaymen – City of New Orleans (American Outlaws: Live at Nassau Coliseum, 1990)
Sunday Morning Coming Down (American Outlaws: Live at Nassau Coliseum, 1990)
(Ghost) Riders In the Sky (American Outlaws: Live at Nassau Coliseum, 1990)
All right! One more (but that’s it 😎 )
The Highwaymen – Ring of Fire (American Outlaws: Live at Nassau Coliseum, 1990)
My Dad once sang and played on the guitar a version of this when he was in college as part of the Drama Club.
Love this song! 🙂 Think of it when I’m fortunate enough to capture a train photo.
FROM GOD THE FATHER, VIRGIN BORN
The true light, which gives light to everyone, was coming into the world. He was in the world, and the world was made through him, yet the world did not know him. He came to his own, and his own people did not receive him.
But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God, who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God.
And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.
— John 1:9-14, ESV
According to my hymnal notes, this Epiphany hymn, originally Latin, dates to the 5th-10th century. The video here is organ solo with text displayed. I like the slow tempo in this. It makes me slow down, be in the moment, and think about the words.
WebsterOnline says Epiphany is “observed as a church festival in commemoration of the coming of the Magi as the first manifestation of Christ to the Gentiles or in the Eastern Church in commemoration of the baptism of Christ
We’ll be singing this hymn today at church.
Thank you for your effort on this (maybe it was easy for you but it was amazing to me).
Hanging-in-there, thanks very much for your comment.
It takes a little time, but I’m not creating or playing or singing anything.
It’s mainly internet searches for favorite hymns followed by bible searches for key words and phrases in the hymns. And then cutting and pasting. I stick to hymns that are in my denomination’s hymnbook, but use whatever youtube sources I can find for those hymns. My hymnbook helpfully lists several scripture passages for each hymn, but often I find another passage I can relate to better.
Going in the opposite direction is the way a pastor would usually do this. Pick the bible text, then find a matching hymn. For layman me, starting with a favorite hymn, and then discovering its basis in the bible is a real eye-opener.
I am light years from being any kind of bible expert. But I’m finding that this exercise is improving my knowledge of the bible bit by bit. And it’s making me appreciate the hymns even more.
As people much better than me said, “Soli Deo Gloria.” To God alone be glory.
Hope you’re off to an excellent week and beginning a great year!
Hope Garrison is ok. Up late w/my sick cat and don’t see him as he usually posts amazing music on this thread every night.
Garrison be ok, probably got the earphones on !
Just saw him down thread. He posted “late.”
Alas, life got in the way of posting last night. Doesn’t happen very often but when it does . . .
Dora! How fitting for sunrise Sunday service ❤️
Let us pray 🙏
During my school years I sang that hymn every Sunday at Mass.
Glad you like it.
Indeed, Feral Cat and Dora!
I once heard this hymn referred to as “The National Anthem of the Catholic Church!” 🙂
I’d say that’s a good description.
At least it was.
After the big Trump day I’ll just explain a bit about Granny.
As I stated earlier Granny left school to look after her siblings upon the death of my greatgrandmother, she took on work as a house cleaner at the age 14-15 as no money was coming in during the 30s depression.
She told me years later how her days were eighteen hours by the time she done all the work a mother does and her job as well.
Her first weeks pay was a thripence.
The church she attended was and is the oldest stone structure in Victoria.
It still stands, mungrel would do work here fifty yrs later but that’s another story.
The phrase ” domestic servant” was later used to describe Granny’s job, a job she kept for the rest of her life.
Now where she lived was in the middle of all the rich, elite snobs, they were her “customers” !
As time went by Granny’s reputation was unbounded in the sence that the respect earnt ment that she not only watched their children grow she participated in their upbringing .
Always humble and respectful the older class eventually died of and Granny’s now worked for their children now adults.
Always keeping her eyes and ears open and her mouth shut, never expecting privilege and rejecting those offered.
These people were and their families still are the ruling class, leaders in everything from the largest companies to heads of state politics.
All funerals she was on the A1 list, if Granny worked for you, you had credibility in the snob set.
At one stage she even worked for the boss of one of what would become one of the biggest media operations in the world.
She politely gave a letter of resignation to that one, I know why.
Granny after all these years become that well respected that if my Granny worked for you that was a privilege !
Remember the background, this becomes extremely important later.
My Father liked her but I think she felt sorry for him having married my mother.
Growing up in the way I did I always felt solace visiting Granny.
Son of mungrel was badly burnt at a young age , I won’t go into detail, mungrel rang Granny, a red line ( RAH would understand) trip ensured for nearly a hundred mile.
The best burns unit in the world at that time were waiting, not only for us, but the best child burns doctor in the world at that time.
He got of a flight from Germany, went straight to young mungrel waiting and performed the operation.
Granny pulled in an owe.
This was something she never ever done, but this time was an exception.
The above is very important for the next chapter.
Granny would come to the rescue again without money but with her prayers and my sword.
Pig chase and court is next.
Thanks for listening.
You all know the rest.
Good Morning ☀️ Mungrel!
Good morning, FC, will catch up with all of you later. Got to get to church.
Howdy Cat, it’s morning here too but 1am morning so year early !
Good morning to you.
Don’t ever loose humour .
Yours is good, no matter what humour is a gift.
Wag,wag, scratch !
Good morning, son. Got to run soon and be church security today. Catch up with you later tonight.
The most satisfying years of my long nursing career, where spent in 3 different national burn centers. Young Mungrel may know some of the names that I do…
God Bless Granny! What a legacy!
I imagine one of those centers was BAMC.
Is Aggiegirl like in Texas A&M girl? Whoop! 😁👍
Hi Mungrel,
Sounds like your Granny would get along well with my ethnic Irish Granny and ethnic Irish Great Aunt!
Grandma literally had no problem being thought of as an “old battle axe” when someone told her that’s what people would think if she went ahead and had “Battle Hymn of the Republic” played at her funeral. And my Great Aunt once declared when I asked her why there were flagstones in the grass making a path to her cottage, “That’s for ammunition …” she answered with a twinkle in her eye. Both of these prayer warriors also said the Rosary, and my Great Aunt was super understanding the time when us kids had an extreme “laugh attack” during family prayers such that we had to stop everything and take a small break to just laugh for awhile.
Thanks for sharing your epic and historical story, which could well make a movie!

BE MY VOICE
BABY LIVES MATTER
PRAYING ON THE ARMOR OF GOD
Father God, I now follow your command to put on the full armor of God, because my battle is not against flesh and blood but against rulers, authorities, the powers of this dark world and against spiritual forces of evil in the unseen world.
I first pray on the Belt of Truth that it may be buckled around my waist, may I be centered and encircled by your truth dear Lord. Hem me inside all that is true and right, and may I be protected and held up by the truth of your living word, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Breastplate of righteousness, please protect my vital organs and my inner man, cover my integrity, my spirit, and my soul. Guard my heart for it is the wellspring of life, please strengthen and guard the most vulnerable places in my life with that which is right, good, and noble that I might not receive a fatal blow from the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Gospel Shoes of Peace. I choose to stand in the shoes of your good news, and on the firm foundation of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, the solid eternal rock. All other ground is sinking sand, I pray that I will not slip or fall, but that my feet would be firmly fitted on your lordship, my Lord Jesus. I choose to stand on you, so that the peace of God, which transcends all understanding will guard my heart and mind in Christ Jesus, the eternal Rock of Ages. I receive your holy peace now my Lord, from the sole of my feet to the crown of my head, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray the Shield of Faith into my hand now. As I take up the shield of faith, I ask that you might extinguish every dart and arrow, that is launched from the enemy to take me down spiritually, physically, mentally, emotionally, and every attempt of the enemy to destroy my joy. I ask that my faith in you would make it flame out. Extinguish every flaming arrow that would come against me, my life, my family, my home, or my ministry. May my faith always be out in front of me like a shield. Give me the courage to “faith my fears” by choosing to walk by faith and not by sight, in my Lord Jesus name.
I pray on the Helmet of Salvation, that you might protect my mind from the thoughts that can lead me astray. I choose to take every thought captive, and arrest all intentioned ideas and motives that would harm others, or distract me from your holy will for me. I submit every captured thought to the Lordship of my Lord Jesus Christ, and ask that you would imprison those thoughts that are not of you my Lord. Transform my mind and renew my thinking that I may think God thoughts, and have a sober mind that is focused on your glory. Please protect me from being double minded that I may allow my mind, I reject to live an earthly life, because I choose to live a holy one, governed by you My Lord Jesus, the prince of peace, please have my mind to be saturated with the holy mind of Christ, in my Lord Jesus name.
Finally, I take up the Sword of the Spirit which is the holy word of God, I pray this powerful offensive weapon into my hand, and ask that your holy word would be fitting for every encounter I face. As the enemy gets close to me, please give me the insight, wisdom, and skill to wield the word of God to drive away the enemy, in my Lord Jesus name.
May the enemy and his team flee from me, upon hearing the word of God spoken by the power and direction of the Holy Spirit. Give me the sword of the spirit to cut through the wiles of the devil, so that I may discern the schemes of the enemy when he is near.
With all kinds of prayers, supplication, and intercession I pray to you my Lord God as the one who fights my battles. Now that I’m in your holy powerful armor, I walk away covered and ready to face my day as you go before me, and please protect me in the midst of the spiritual warfare in this unseen world, in my Lord Jesus name.
Thank you my Lord, for the spiritual weapons of armor and prayer that you have given me. It is written no weapon formed against me shall prosper, and you will refute every tongue that accuses me.
Thank you Father God, my Lord Jesus and the Holy Spirit, that I am more than a conqueror in my Lord Jesus. I pray all of this in the mighty name of my Lord God and Savior Jesus Christ.
AMEN.

I would have thought that SD would have a post after the SJC ruling on the Fed vax mandate. Surprisingly just about every conservative outlet I look at has given this story no attention. What gives???
I get them…but CTH and AOSHQ my two go to places are giving this story a good leaving alone as well.
Guess you slept through it

Good Morning Treepers!
A recent daily selection in Oswald, talks of a white funeral.
Is this when you “bury” your all ways of the world and how you react to them. And put your heart, mind and soul to the grindstone doing only God’s work?
(Patiently waiting in back of classroom) 😊
Good morning flyover!
Thanks 😊
Have a Blessed Day ❤️

Although it is morning, here is a choral work -Abendzauber (Evening Magic) – by the great Anton Bruckner, with whose music (9 great symphonies plus many religious works) you would do well to become acquainted!
The text tells of a soul ascending and bidding farewell to the beauty of Nature: an echo, fading effect is used to convey the image.
Der See träumt zwischen Felsen,
Es flüstert sanft der Hain.
Den Bergeshang beleuchtet
Des Mondes Silberschein.
Und aus dem Waldesdunkel
Hallt Nachtigallensang,
Und von dem See weh’n Lieder
Mit zauberhaftem Klang.
Ich saß am Seegestade,
Vertieft in süßen Traum;
Da träumte ich zu schweben
Empor zum Himmelsraum.
Wer könnte je vergessen
Den wonnevollen Ort!
Noch tief im Herzen klingen
Die Zaubertöne fort.
The lake dreams between rocks,
The forest whispers gently.
The mountain slope is lit
By the silvery light of the moon.
From the darkness of the forest,
Sounds the song of the nightingale,
And from the lake, songs float
With enchanting sound.
I sat at the lakeshore,
Lost in sweet dream;
I dreamed to hover
Aloft to Heaven’s realm.
Who could ever forget
This delightful place!
Deep in my heart
The enchanting tones still sound.
(complete with 4 Alphorns, the single tube horns c. 10 feet long used to send signals across the mountains in olden days.)
Great music! Personally, would probably prefer an instrumental version …
Thank you! Try any of the Bruckner symphonies for his non-vocal music!
The “Hunting Scherzo” of the Fourth Symphony is justly famous!
Yes, thanks for posting the “Hunting Sherzo”!
Enjoyable and much appreciated!
Morning, Treepers!
Good morning, LS!

A little bit late this time. But, still, I hope everyone has a wonderful and blessed Sunday. 🙂
Good thing the Open thread is open all day, especially good for when you don’t want to stay up much past midnight and then sleep in a little on Sunday … in any case, really enjoying Lux Aeterna, thanks for posting it Garrison! 🙂

There is cold and then there is cold. In my relatively extensive experience in living outdoors during winter weather at various places in the world I have learned that all cold is not equal by any means.
There is a character to cold that temperature and “real feel”/ windchill does not account for. It is a bitterness. The bite of the cold.
Believe me when I tell you that the cold in Green and White Mountains of NH and VT and in the upper Adirondack mountains in NY is far more bitter than anything I ever experienced in the Alps regardless of windchill. The feeling of discomfort when they have exact same temperatures do not compare. I have felt the same bite in Alaska and Norway.
This bitterness is not static. Today here in central Indiana the sun is out and there is no wind to speak of and the temp is 28 F. And yet this 28 degrees bites harder than I have experienced this year here. That Arctic airmass bitterness is very evident.
Our gas furnace is operating just fine, this house is well insulated, and all the windows are fairly new except three that I have yet to change, though I have the replacement windows ready to go. But there is nothing like the heat one gets from wood. It’s just cozy! So today I laid in a bunch of wood in the holder by the Fireplace for my Lady to have easy access to in the coming days while I am on the road.
Good greetings, Rah,
28 degrees to me is liveable and I’m not too particular about what kind of cold 28 is … well, as long as it’s ABOVE zero! 🙂 Must be from having grown up in the Buffalo, NY area and all those wonderful memories of outdoor sledding, ice skating, snow fort building, snow ball throwing, snow angel making, cross-country skiing, blizzard surviving (well, mostly indoors on the blizzard surviving, apart from walking outside delivering newspapers one day while the storm was raging). In fact, I consider perfect winter landscape photography weather to be 28 degrees and snowing.
To me, bitter is 15 degrees above zero or colder, at which point I prefer not to take long hikes outside in search of photos, but have been known to photograph sunsets at lower temps as long as I could jump in the car to warm up my hands as necessary.
And that said, yes, there’s something tremendously gratifying about a wood fire. Years ago when volunteering as a historical re-enactor, I used to actually enjoy sitting real close to the camp fire and getting my clothes all full of that smoky smell.
Here’s hoping you and your Lady enjoy the winter weather!
(Okay, so one of my nicknames is “The Queen of Narnia … “)
It’s the character of the cold I am talking about. This 28 degrees hurts more than 28 degrees we had earlier. If it were sub zero it would be the same. I have slept outside in -30 F in Vermont. Wind chill at the top of Smugglers Notch was -90. Froze my mustache to my Balaclava. Slept in a snow cave when it was about -10 in Norway. Lived outside for 15 days straight when it did not get above zero.
But the point is that temperature and windchill are not the only measures of cold. There is no measure for bitterness but it is there or it is not and when it is, the cold feels colder than the thermometer reading would lead one to believe.
Well, I’ll admit that the 20 degrees I was out in this morning did have a “brisk” or “crisp” feel to it. The good thing was, the sun was actually out so I was just happy for that.
And you definitely are more rugged than I when it comes to outdoor camping overnight … -30 F? Or even 0? Not me. Never. Not even close!
You sure had some “cool” adventures though in some beautiful places … Vermont, Norway … Wow! 🙂
It wasn’t “camping” really. It was military training and exercises. I was an SF solider in the 10th Special Forces group with 8 1/2 years on teams specializing in extreme cold weather and Alpine warfare.
I view one of my greatest accomplishments during that time, that as a medic, nobody on any of the teams I served on, got a severe cold weather injury. Though I myself suffered the early stages of hypothermia twice.
Now that’s impressive!
Rah, have you ever burned Elm wood? we had to take down a lovely ancient elm which was threatening east side of our house. we are now burning it in fireplace and Jotuls. the smell is wonderful. any idea why burning elm odor is so beautiful? so happy we have three years worth
I am burning Chinese Elm and some cottonwood now. Wood still left over from the last time I had the trees trimmed and had one good sized Chinese Elm too close to the house taken down. I paid a guy that knew what he was doing to do the tree work and then I did all the ground work, cutting up and stacking that wood and burning the small stuff in my 8′ diameter fire pit. It took me weeks of work to do it and a lot of that stuff laid in the yard over the winter until I could get back to work on it the next spring.
I remember that Thanksgiving when I was out there covered in sawdust from the chainsaw and my wife came out with the phone. It was work, and they wanted me to come in. The jerk dispatch manager had failed to look and see that I had approved vacation.
We do not burn wood from Conifers of any type in our fireplace. By avoiding doing that I only need my fireplace chimney swept every 3rd year.
So good to read that you are cozily prepared. We are awaiting the end of our “dusting” & praying our power will endure.
Unless your in the western or central parts of the Carolinas you should be OK.
