In an era when USAID (CIA) funding for Latin-American socialists and communists has been curtailed by the Trump administration, the hope is that supporters for Bolsonaro (above left) can defeat the communist supporters for da Silva (above right). The race will likely be close.
The president in Brazil is directly elected by the people, and the winning candidate needs more than 50% of the vote to avoid a second round runoff.

No, not true. In Commonwealth countries like Can, Aus NZ etc, the people elect local representatives to the House. That House elects the PM (always the party with the most reps). The elected person then goes to the Governor General to get “his commission” from the King. The PM must be elected first.
In rare cases (as in Australia in early 1970’s), if there is a deadlock in governance (say, the Senate is majority from the opposition party and refuses to pass a budget) and the government can’t function (a bit like a shut-down in the US), the Governor General can tell parliament to go to fresh ELECTIONS so that the deadlock can be broken BY THE PEOPLE IN A DEMOCRATIC PROCESS.

p.s. The Governor General is selected by the Prime Minister and asks the King to affirm the appointment, which he will always do (and the Magnificent Queen Elizabeth II always did).

I was an elections worker in California, where we had our precincts counted and delivered by nine o’clock on election night…ten on the rarest occasion…until electronic voting machines were introduced.
That, coincidentally, is when the full scale move to illegally register non-citizens began.
The takeover began there and by 2006 Dominion owned the state voting process. By 2007 it owned Washington state.
I encourage all to go back and study the Washington state governor’s race of 2004 between Dino Rossi and Christine Gregoirre. It was, I believe, a test run of the cheating that was later used on a national level. It was followed immediately by instituting mail in voting statewide. It was also the signal that it was time to leave my beloved home state because all was lost. Time proved me right. I now consider myself a political refugee.

On a local level, I had immediately distrusted the implementation of computerized voting machines over a decade ago. With those ballot hacking machines came R politicians fighting to remain in place (the advent of RINOS because all true R’s and D’s were systematically removed.)
It was definitely a changing of the guard.
And what I immediately noticed was the dropping of all pretenses. No more kissing babies or running to be photographed at little league openers and commuter rail stations. No more serious campaigning was ever required after those machines were installed.
