The motive for the FBI to say there is “scant evidence” of any coordinated group activity in the January 6th Capitol Hill events is transparent.  The FBI need to cloud their involvement, their coordination, their agents, their planted informants and the FBI direction in the events.

Reuters is writing today that current and former FBI officials have reversed course and said there is scant evidence that any right-wing or extremist group coordinated any attack on Capitol Hill.

WASHINGTON, Aug 20 (Reuters) – The FBI has found scant evidence that the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol was the result of an organized plot to overturn the presidential election result, according to four current and former law enforcement officials.

Though federal officials have arrested more than 570 alleged participants, the FBI at this point believes the violence was not centrally coordinated by far-right groups or prominent supporters of then-President Donald Trump, according to the sources, who have been either directly involved in or briefed regularly on the wide-ranging investigations.

“Ninety to ninety-five percent of these are one-off cases,” said a former senior law enforcement official with knowledge of the investigation. “Then you have five percent, maybe, of these militia groups that were more closely organized. But there was no grand scheme with Roger Stone and Alex Jones and all of these people to storm the Capitol and take hostages.”

Stone, a veteran Republican operative and self-described “dirty trickster”, and Jones, founder of a conspiracy-driven radio show and webcast, are both allies of Trump and had been involved in pro-Trump events in Washington on Jan. 5, the day before the riot.

[…] Prosecutors have also not brought any charges alleging that any individual or group played a central role in organizing or leading the riot. Law-enforcement sources told Reuters no such charges appeared to be pending. (read more)

Glenn Greenwald previously wrote a solid outline on Substack worth reading (excerpt):

Greenwald – […] “If the FBI had advanced knowledge of what was being plotted yet did nothing to stop the attack, it raises numerous possibilities about why that is. It could be that they just had yet another “intelligence failure” of the kind that they claimed caused them to miss the 9/11 attack and therefore need massive new surveillance authorities, budget increases, and new Patriot-Act-type laws to fix it.

It could be that they allowed the riot to happen because they did not take it seriously enough or because some of them supported the cause behind it, or because they realized that there would be benefits to the security state if it happened.

Or it could be that they were using those operatives under their control to plot with, direct, and drive the attack — as they have done so many times in the past — and allowed it to happen out of either negligence or intent.” (continue reading)

Given the history of the FBI, I think we can all agree on the most likely scenario.  The FBI was deeply involved in orchestrating the events on January 6th, and the FBI would now like to see any inquiry into any process of “coordination” for those events quickly stopped.  Hence, today the FBI proclaims there was no evidence of coordination.

Move along, move along… no coordination… don’t investigate the FBI folks… move along.
