Former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin was sentenced today to 22½ years in prison after being found guilty in the 2020 murder of George Floyd. (Story Here) Prior to the sentencing Derek Chauvin made a brief, and seemingly cryptic, statement.
.
Odd Stuff:
Derek Chauvin lived in the same house for over a decade.
No-one in the neighborhood knew he was a police officer.
The immediate neighbors (7 years) didn’t know he was a cop.
Chauvin never once drove a police vehicle home.
No-one ever Chauvin in a police uniform.
In addition to being a police officer, Chauvin worked at a dance club as security.
Chauvin worked at the club for 14 years while also being a police officer.
George Floyd also worked at the club, also as security.
The club, El Nuevo Rodeo, had a sketchy ownership background.
Coincidentally El Nuevo Rodeo was one of the first buildings burned to the ground in the “riots”.
The prosecution never called the club owner as a witness.
The defense never mentioned the relationship.
George Floyd was busted for passing a counterfeit $20 (that was the reason for the call to police).
Just weird…. nothing more.
🤔Very, very, weird. Why would anyone go through the trouble of counterfeiting $1 bills?
Considering time, labor, material and energy. It costs more to counterfeit a box of $1 bills than an actual real box of $1 bills is worth.
Something sketchy here. https://t.co/ZMM0QyVp9V

I have seen clerks use the iodine pens on $20 bills so it might make sense to go to smaller denominations but why $1 bills?
In a poor community, who wouldn’t give up a $10 note for $20 in ones?
Floyd was caught knowingly ‘passing’ a $20 counterfeit bill and after police arrived they observed Floyd and his drug dealer passenger trying to stuff 3 more counterfeit bills into the seat cushions: another $20 and two $1 counterfeit bills. The bills were from China. The state penalty for passing counterfeit currency was as high a 10 yrs in prison and big fines. Floyd was a career criminal
This is seriously the most messed up case I have seen. Nothing seems “right” about any of it. Now, I realize some of you are of the notion that Chauvin did nothing wrong. Perhaps. Now I do know a few high level LEOs and they all say the exact same thing to me. From what they see, the cop was a scumbag, probably racist, certainly smug and definitely NOT performing anything resembling any of their training.
Now I agree that there are plenty of unanswered questions for me and several were answered when I saw the entire video. When I saw the initial video I was look – oh – that cop killed that guy. (Trump even called him out fwiw.) My husband who is NOT a BLM fan and is a HUGE supporter of LE, has maintained the same thing.
Now..that all said…the question still remains…why? I mean, I really don’t think he meant to kill him. But in light of all of the people surrounding him, recording him, screaming at him that the man could not breathe, he remained in place, not even bothering to look at the man, check on him or anything, and once the man stopped moving, chose to continue the restraint. I’m sorry, but if you are a trained officer, once you take the suspect into custody, their well being (of course along with others around you) becomes YOUR responsibility. So it becomes YOUR responsibility to explain why you continued to restrain a dying/dead man for 7 minutes. There is no avoiding that question.
But again, why? Why did he do this? Did he mean to kill him? I don’t think so. Did he genuinely believe he was no longer a threat? Ummm….I don’t know…the guy wasn’t moving, and apparently wasn’t even breathing at that point. So why would he continue to stay in that position for SO LONG knowing full well he is being recorded and should have realized just how viral that video would go. (Unless he hasn’t been paying attention for the last 10 years or so.)
What I think? I honestly think that whatever his reasons may be (without literally going too far down any rabbit holes) is that a lot of police, and myself, were and are angry at him because he allowed himself to be used as a pawn by the left/anti-police/BLM, etc… to create this image of bad, racist cops. Was he one? I don’t know. Did he appear to be one to the casual observer. 100%.
In times like this, where the onslaught against our police is insane, it is imperative that when an officer puts on that uniform, that he realizes he is the face of all of LE, particularly when those cameras are on. That was my initial thought when I first saw the video. Like – thanks a bunch jerk…you just gave them all the ammunition they needed. Was Floyd out of his mind? Yep. Was he a threat? I don’t know – I mean yeah he wanted to get away, but he was unarmed and although large enough to give a bunch of cops a hard time, there is a point where you realize you have to pick your battles.
I don’t envy Chauvin for the position he was in. It was insane. But it was also apparent that the insanity had subsided for quite some time as he remained on top of the suspect with his knee pressed against his neck (optics are important) no matter what he felt he was or wasn’t doing. That is my point. You can say he was used as a pawn. But he ALLOWED himself to be used as one.
Bottom line – you have your knee on the neck of a suspect for 7 minutes, emotionless. nonchalant, after he stopped moving then you can expect to answer some serious questions when the guy ends up dead. You’re going to need to explain why you didn’t seem to notice, why you didn’t try to render aid, why you didn’t listen to your fellow officers who expressed concern, why you continued doing what your doing when you had dozens of people surrounding you and recording you for all the world to see. Derek Chauvin is guilty of causing more harm to the police force as a whole than any harm he did to the black community.
Floyd was no saint and has no business having statues of him made or being any sort of hero. And Chauvin isn’t a monster either, I don’t believe. I believe the sentence is FAR too harsh considering all of the extenuating circumstance. But he would have had a LOT more support from his fellow officers (notice they all testified against him) if he had just even tried to make it look like he cared just a little bit. That’s all I am saying. To try to say that Chauvin bears no responsibility for the you-know-what-storm that ensued isn’t realistic, in my opinion.
I’ll wait for hate to come at me here.
P.S. Trump WON!!!

That was brilliant. Thanks so much for sharing.
This may not be popular, but my two cents on just two issues; no I’m not a doc, but… :
a) there is no set ‘lethal’ amount of Fentanyl or other opioids in someone’s body. If Floyd was a casual user of Opioids, then his tolerance was much higher than normal, and thus could live with higher levels in his body. Also, he had also taken methamphetamine, one of the most powerful stimulants on Earth, so previous would cancel out some of the phentanol sedative effects.
b) you don’t have to pinch someone’s airway (i.e. trachea) to kill them, but can restrict blood flow in the carotid artery (next to trachea) and as fast or faster. ALSO, someone can be suffocated by restricting the expansion of their lungs (i.e handcuffing hands behind them, and putting them on stomach with knee on their head or neck.
*e.g. not i.e.
I used to be a back the blue person but I have come to realize that a majority of leo are not my friend. I am a white conservative, the police will arrest me in a heart beat and I would go to jail for any trumped up charge they felt like manufacturing. Just see the recent videos of them arresting parents who are only expressing their 1st amendment rights of free speech. Or arresting a mom for not wearing a face diaper. Or shooting an unarmed woman vet on 1/6. There are way too many examples of similar lawless behavior by law enforcement. Not to mention our military leaders. My attitude is a result of their behavior. I haven’t changed, they have.
“… and definitely NOT performing anything resembling any of their training.” Not trying to pick a fight here, but I have a dim recollection that a guy who had at one time been a ‘use of force’ trainer for the Minneapolis PD reviewed all the camera footage that could be found and was quoted as saying that everything Chauvin did was by the book, as we say. Maybe I dreamt it but it seems to me that that came out before he was even indicted but perhaps I’m conflating information from some other incident.
Your entire first paragraph is lies.
And they are releasing from prison early cop killers who were the of opposite color officer Chauvin. What a world we live in.
FACT; YOU CANNOT CHOKE SOMEONE BY PRESSING ON THE SIDE OF THEIR NECK. IT IS ACCEPTED POLICE PROCEDURE TO PRESS ON THE SIDE OF THE NECK TO RESTRAIN SOMEONE.
FACT; GEORGE FLOYD WAS IN BAD HEALTH AND UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF ILLICIT NARCOTICS. THIS COMBINATION CAUSED HIS DEATH.
FACT; CHAUVIN DID NOT MURDER GEORGE FLOYD.
FACT: THIS WAS A KANGAROO COURT. THE DECISION WAS MADE BEFORE THE TRIAL. THIS IS A SOVIET STYLE SHOW TRIAL DESIGNED TO PLACATE THE MARXISTS WHO RUN THE DEMONAZI PARTY.

Ya beat me to it will!
I was trying to not be my usual self, and was actually polite.
Unfortunately I blew it on the Haley/Pence post.
Apologies if I made your job worse today. You are still doing a great job.
I will go kick into the swear jar kitty for penance. 🙂
Floyd was a violent criminal and active drug user. I don’t mourn his death, and it’s sickening to worship such a degenerate as a martyr.
As for Chauvin, my hardcore MAGA son is a cop and says he should never have done what he did.
Those 2 had history and that might have influenced his actions, but it was clearly horrible procedure. Plus, he should never have been nor been allowed to work side jobs connected to organized crime and criminals like Floyd.
Any MMA fighter or real Doctor (not paid off) would look at where the knee and the ankle side of the legg was placed and would know the Police officer did not kill criminal George Floyd… This police officer is a political prisoner and the Democrats should be ashamed … He said (Ican’t breath 10 times before the policeman touched. He resisted arrest. He did not ask for medical attention . He was dieing of a drug overdose. If Floyd did not resist arrest and asked for medical attention he might be alive today. And able to face forgery and Drug possession and resisting arrest… And the crooked Judge would have not given the most terrible parents 17 million tax payers money.
Welcome to the world order ran by the Globalist who took over the Democrats party…
