It’s so discouraging here in NC. People love their masks. I only go to grocery stores, no problem; I am someone who cannot stand being around masked people…to me if you don’t have a face you are not a human being. I really want to go on a vacation, but it won’t be a vacation if I have to be around masks and worry if I am going to be harrassed for not wearing one.
The people in NC are pretty much passive…no resistance at all. The business owners are like abused spouses…now the gov says they can sell alcohol until 11 pm..oh, they are so busy kissing his behind for this kind favor. It’s the same here in my neck of the woods in New York State. I always encounter a few Karens and I’ve practiced what I say to them. But, I remain calm, collected, patient and kind. When they demand I leave a grocery store if I don’t have a mask, I quietly ask for the manager and ask him/her if I he sees fit for me to starve. Then I remind him/ her that Covid starves no one but people do. I have never been turned away. People need a few reminders as to what they are actually doing to their fellow man.

Everyone here caved as the State threatened to pull liquor licenses if masks not enforced or used. people here now are used to the tyranny and there’s little resistance in spite of the fact that CA surged in cases and they were useless. Maskholes are everywhere here. A full grown middle age adult male badgered a very well behaved late teenage young man in line at the grocery store because he didn’t have a mask. I called the kid over and told him to stand by me. I told the maskhole to pay and move on.

Ivermectin is still not recommended as a drug to treat covid19 despite the overwhelming evidence supporting this off label use. As soon as DeSantis said there would be no legal penalties for going mask-less the county here in north Florida required all businesses to post as sign that you must wear a mask upon entering. People think it’s the business that requires it and it is taking forever for people to recognize it’s not required. Sheep!!! Even here in Florida!!
Notice how these restrictions are presented as “guidelines” but are not actually made into laws. The guidelines are then reinforced by peer pressure and insurance companies, even though there is no proof that the pandemic would warrant such measures, even if they were effective, which they’re not.

I live in a part of the world that moved on past masks months ago. I have worn one one time that I can remember in the last 4 months. I see fewer and fewer people everywhere who choose to wear them and enforcement of the mandates is non-existent.

I also see people who have been wearing masks religiously getting the virus anyway, and it still doesn’t dawn on them that if masks worked and they’ve only been places everyone wore them, they could not possibly fall ill.

For those upset that businesses can still mandate masks, this is how it is supposed to be IMO. Businesses should always have been free to decide whether they want masks or not, and we would have been free to shop there or not. This is how it should have been from day 1.
So be it. Likely 50/50 on masks or not . I’ll support non-masked as I have all the time. IF a biz demands a mask, I simply don’t use them. Grocers have been that way, hardware stores, local businesses. Few have DEMANDED masks. Not a problem for me, I can survive on the biz I need that are non-maskers.
I have no doubt that businesses in many areas will be “encouraged” to mandate masks long after the state has “officially” “relaxed” the “rules”. All they have to do is say “if we have to do another lockdown we can include your store in the non-compliant list and you will be shut down for the duration” and the stores will comply. Costco doesn’t want to become a non-essential business, after all.
Insurance companies and OSHA regs are mandating business compliance with guidelines. How do businesses barely on their feet as is fight back? It’s getting rather complicated, isn’t it?
I don’t know that businesses should be free to impose unconstitutional requirements to enter, in America.

Yep, as someone who’s worked in heavy industry for decades and has two half-face N95 respirators in the shop, damn skippy it makes it difficult to breathe, and those masks have an unimpeded outflow valve. Moreover, with both types, for those of us who wear glasses, they can impede visibility, though a properly fitted respirator generally does not.
Businesses have the right to refuse service, they’ve historically had that right, though it’s been eroded somewhat in modern times by ‘classes’ of citizens who are exempt. Given that the government has anointed some businesses as ‘essential’ and shut others down, limiting consumer choice, is it reasonable for them to refuse service on the basis of wearing a mask, or not?
IDK, I’ve always maintained this is an op and the only way to combat it is to make .gov and corporate America feel pain, either monetary pain or actual pain, and the fear of death, to right their oppressive behavior. This isn’t a machine, it’s humans making choices. Just like they punish us, we can punish them. They’re mortal and their souls go to God just like ours do. Their soldiers have inured themselves to the almighty dollar and sold their souls to the moneychangers. Accepted.

What if you want to visit your dying wife in the hospital NOW?
My wife was in the hospital during this covid craze. I was told I could not visit. My response was something like Go to Hell!. The charge nurse told me I would be arrested, I said fine, call the Sheriff and have them come and get me. I then marched up to the room and sat down with my beloved.
Deputy showed up about 30 minutes later and asked me if there was a problem. I told him no sir, just holding my wife of twenty years hand to offer comfort. He then told me thank you for your service sir ( I was wearing my Marine Corps veteran hat at the time) and turned about and basically told the charge nurse “nothing to see here Ma’am, and he departed. She was in the hospital for two more days and discharged to go home. Never had any more issues from anyone.
I did notice about two weeks later, the visitation “rules” were drastically changed on the website and the ones on the entryway to the hospital. This was last October. I thought about calling the hospital administrator and thanking them for coming to their senses. I never did, but I probably should have.

My teenage son was admitted through ER for what could have been a life and death issue during the lockdown. Fortunately, his condition was less serious than originally thought.
I drove him to a hospital where I know the staff. I waited in the parking lot, as instructed, as he underwent various procedures. But.. had his condition been confirmed as serious, I warned my husband that I would be on the six o-clock news if they tried to prevent me from seeing him. And I MEANT it.
In Idaho, mask mandates are left to local government, i.e., your mayor and/or city council. Where I live, it’s always been voluntary. Everything is open. Some business insist on a mask to shop, and that’s fine, people comply with the business owner out of respect. Even if the store, or post office, has a sign up “masks required for entry”, it’s mostly ignored but a few people will be compliant. Go to Boise, and it’s a different story. Too many Leftists there.
What haa bothered me the most is how so many school districts throughout Idaho have mandated masks. It’s child abuse.

Barbara, this is what I don’t understand. Nobody is being forced to go out to the restaurant with inside dining or not to wear a mask and gloves to the grocery if you want to. What is their problem? All I can think of is they want us to be as miserable as they are.
My advice would be to elect a Governor with some common sense. My state has been open for inside dining since June with number restrictions. They have been lifted, and you don’t have to wear a mask unless you want to. Schools have been open since September.

thedocoo, from what I hear, the Governor of Mississippi is appreciated for the way he has handled things. He has been cautious but not restrictive. He asked the people to wear mask in areas where the numbers were rising. He has been very humble and the people have complied for the most part.
The rolll out of vaccination has gone well, and he like DeSantis made the over age 65 a priority. With a population of under 3 million, over 700K have been vaccinated.

He is going to have to clarify his Executive Order.
It says that in counties where hospitalization of covid patients make up less than 15% of the total patients, (for 7 consecutive days) that county can’t require or mandate masks.
Then, further down the EO, it contradicts the previous statement and says that “nothing in the EO precludes businesses from requiring employees or customers to follow additional hygiene measures, including the wearing of a face covering.”

Just based on what you have written, there doesn’t appear to be a contradiction. The government will remove restrictions, but businesses can still require mask wearing, and members of the public are free to wear masks if they so desire.
Then thedoc00 is correct. Judging by my stops in town today, nothing has changed…all businesses still requiring masks. ? Maybe it is different if you get out of the big cities.
Businesses have the right to impose their own restrictions. You have the right not to give them your money.
That isn’t the same as government restrictions.

So, here we are with a “new” government mask requirement that interferes with a person’s ability to breath and forces a person to breath in their own CO2 which can be dangerous to their body.
This “new” government mask requirement didn’t come up in the marketplace where businesses had the right to implement or not.
No, this “new” mask requirement was forced onto all businesses under the penalty of fines or shutdown.
There are many cases where an alternative business service is not readily available in an area.
Maybe not in your area, but there are areas of the country that have only one grocery store, one pharmacy, one dentist, etc.
Having to make a senior choose between not breathing O2 in the quantity needed for their health or “wearing” a questionable mask to enter a business that is licensed by the government to obtain their daily needs is not a constitutional choice.
Last but not least, the businesses are being threatened by the demo politicians not to drop the mask requirement because biden will be taking down their names and will come after them. No joke. So it really isn’t just a business making a rule.
In summary:
Anyone should be free to wear a mask or not.
Forcing a person to wear a health threatening mask to enter an open-to-the-public business licensed by the government is going a mile to far towards unconstitutional behavior.
Businesses may make rules for those who enter their premises, whether you like it or not.
Allowing the government to control all aspects of business activities is wrong. Just as requiring businesses to enforce mask wearing is wrong, it is equally as wrong to insist that they NOT require masks.
I know you don’t like this. I wonder why you want the government to act like an arm of the Gestapo, but only when the rule is something that you favor?

The governor is letting the counties, through their fake crisis numbers, continue to tramp on Texan’s freedoms.

The positive China Virus test story is not the real issue.
This has all to do with Gerrymandering districts and precincts for 2021 and 2022. That was the motivation behind the Courts allowing illegals to be counted for purposes of representation within the government. The census is going to be “UPDATED” due to racists not counting everybody and then the new lawsuits begin to redraw election district boundaries.

This is only the first small step toward fixing the problems in Texas. There are way too many RINOs in that State. For this ex-Texan, visiting Texas has become a pain in the butt because of all the politically correct and even ‘woke’ speech I hear when I am there. Of course, in defense of West Texas, I would have to admit that I lived in and visit only in the Houston area. The allegiance to the Bush Family Texas is still strong, I recon. I am told the Austin area is even worse. Texans need to pay attention to where this is headed, because the economy and the independence of the people are the two biggest drawing cards to their State.
No one should be wearing a mask unless they have symptoms, want to, or are a scaredy cat liberal. This way the rest of us can see at a glance who we should stay the hell away from.
In MN our cases deaths hospitalizations are almost at the lowest point since the beginning. Not optimistic our dear leader Walz will lift the Mandate.
Some interesting facts from MN dept of health stats. About 60% of cases have no verified known method of transmission. Ever since our mask mandate July 2020 everything spiked until Oct/Nov and has been declining since that peak. There have been zero reasons attributed to the last few months decline.
Sarc. It has been reported that all speed limits will be reduced to 40mph out of the abundance of caution to prevent driving deaths. Vehicles will be required to stay 60 feet apart and be washed on a regular basis. Every vehicle will be required to have clean air filter and a bug screen covering the radiator. Each vehicle will be tested for operating temperature before entering any crowded parking lot. Drivers will be asked whether they have driven more than 40mph recently and if all systems including oil temp are operating correctly. We will not go back to the careless 55mph speed limits after all the progress we’ve made in reducing road deaths. Models show if we don’t take these actions, a LOT of drivers will be killed daily. I expect to wear a mask every winter for the rest of my life. The flu is nowhere near as bad as COVID-19, but it still kills thousands of Americans every year, and wearing masks dramatically reduces the spread. It’s a tiny individual sacrifice for such major benefits to society.
Wearing a mask should always be up to the individual. Don’t wear one if you don’t want to. I don’t see the point in shaming others for deciding otherwise. It’s not a way to persuade them to follow your lead.
Freedom is the objective.
That is different from opposing the government mandate to wear a mask.

There are certainly people who have very good reasons for wearing masks, and they should not be made to feel uncomfortable about their decision.

I agree with you, fellow deplorable guy. I have gotten into many confrontations with mask wearing lemmings over the last YEAR OF THE 3 WEEK SHUTDOWN TO FLATTEN THE CURVE! I get angry every time I think about our Colorado Gubnor pressing up to the microphone to announce his next executive fiat for all us deplorables to follow. He looks like the Southern Gubnor introducing the Soggy Bottom Boys to sing ‘You are My Sunshine’. When I conjure up that image I can at least laugh a little.
