The House is determined to advance further gun control legislation as an action priority for Democrats. Unfortunately eight republican House members are supportive of the Democrat effort to restrict gun ownership [HR8].
The republicans in the House who voted in support of the background check bills are: Vern Buchanan (R-FL-16), Mario Diaz-Balart (R-FL-25), Brian Fitzpatrick (R-PA-1), Will Hurd (R-TX-23), Peter T. King (R-NY-2), Brian Mast (R-FL-18), Chris Smith (R-NJ-4), and Fred Upton (R-MI-6).
WASHINGTON DC – […] “The first bill, [HR 8 HERE] which passed 227-203, is designed to close loopholes to ensure background checks are extended to private and online sales that often go undetected, including at gun shows. The legislation includes limited exceptions allowing temporary transfers to prevent imminent harm, for use at a target range and for gifts from family, among others.”
Specifically, it prohibits a firearm transfer between private parties unless a licensed gun dealer, manufacturer, or importer first takes possession of the firearm to conduct a background check. The prohibition does not apply to certain firearm transfers, such as a gift between spouses in good faith.
The second bill, which passed 219-210, would extend the review period for background checks from three to 10 days. (more)
Do not comply.
Big Jake,
A couple of “old” axioms.. (one with my “edit”)..
“An ARMED man is a CITIZEN. An UNARMED man is a FOOL. And a DISARMED man is a SUBJECT!”
The other.. “I carry a gun, because a cop is too heavy!”

Yep. 50 million armed Americans who say no with a very loud voice will not be overcome by any army or police, or unconstitutional edicts. That number could be as high as 80 million.
jeesh, I would have thought the same thing about people not allowing their businesses to close or refusing to wear masks or see loved ones in a hospital but based on how easy it was to get people to conform, looks like we don’t have any fight in us. All these bravado statements saying guns are when the line gets crossed are fooling themselves. Let’s say u live in a rural area and a military vehicle full of armed soldiers comes to your house to search for and confiscate your guns next month, what’s your plan?
They better have a stack of body bags with them.
Sagemoto,
WADR,
There are some “people” who have yet to conform with the versailles-like edicts imposed on the general populace. (individual results may vary)
Granted, I have not had to suffer the loss of a business, but my income has certainly been affected. I also have not had the displeasure of losing a loved one. I’m still hopeful that we (as a country) will endure the china virus scam.
As far as “fight in us”?, I’ll start with the possibility that many are like me, in that I’m aware that especially the media has been trying to anger folks to shake them out of the woodpile.
“Have a whiff of nancy pelosi’s ice cream, anyone?”
March 4th didn’t quite work out the way they had hoped, did it? That wasn’t for lack of “fight”. It was from common sense.
I’m no hero. And I don’t consider hoping and praying that I never have to take anyone’s life as “bravado”. (As opposed to courage.)
And if a military vehicle rolls through my neck of the woods, I will know about it far before it arrives. I won’t claim the old saw of “they were lost in a boating accident”, but there are “alternative storage” methods that are neither expensive, nor elaborate. If only to defend against the inevitable chaos, I don’t see why keeping my powder dry, in relation to that issue is unwise.
It may seem melodramatic, but I choose “on my feet”, not “on my knees”.

There has been a massive sale of guns and ammo to American citizens. Those purchases weren’t for rabbit hunting or target shooting. The need for Self defense comes from the unique aspects of many situations. Whether it be a criminal or a criminal government, the differences are meaningless to survival.
” The prohibition does not apply to certain firearm transfers, such as a gift between spouses in good faith.” …Yet!
Who are all of these FL Republicans voting for this? Are they from Democrat areas? They need to be purged!
Deborah D,
I don’t know about all of the squishes, but at least one, Brian Mast, is a wounded COMBAT VETERAN?!!!
whiskey tango F**K!!?
Brian Mast has always been a useless representative and an unwavering advocate for gun control.
He “represents” my district, which is heavily conservative, but he doesn’t care.
The Republican politicians are just letting you know whose side they’re on.
They’ll support democrat (communist) gun control laws.
The greatest betrayal of the constitution happened last January 6 and 20 led by the Republican Party.
It’s time people realized that.
I noticed Gun Rights and 2nd Amendment barely mentioned during the past election cycle. Beyond Major Mistake.
Florida RINO Vern Buchanan needs to be primaried by someone who knows the constitution.
BTW, my fellow Floridians,
Please check this young man out?
He hopefully will be a proper, patriotic challenger to little marco. I only had a chance to have lunch with him recently, but he seemed like a fine upstanding young man.
I’m going to try to further “vet” him, and would appreciate any assistance you can afford.
Don’t forget that little marco supported the egregious u.n. small arms treaty, which would surrender our 2A rights to the globalist blood-bags.. (spit)

Without universal gun registration, this is unenforceable.
even with universal registration the people can make it unenforceable.
YOaC,
They have already “crafted” legislation that would require not only disclosing WHAT weapons we have, but WHERE they are stored!!? (And it would be publicly shared data!)
Surely there aren’t any republican(t)s who would support such a monstrosity, right? sarc/off

registration creates a trust with the state .Unlawful, but legal if your a member of the state.
If the sales are private, how do they plan to prove when the transaction took place? I know all my sales/purchases will have been done prior to the effective date of this legislation.
Gun Rights / 2nd Amendment was not made a big enough issue in the past election. Extremely Major Mistake!
Dammit… i voted for Vern Buchanan just about 4 months ago. Only got my vote because of the R by his name, and now he’s out there voting with the Dems. Just pisses me off!
The video Sundance posted of Marjorie Taylor Greene on Bannon’s show is so inspiring.
IF people like her, like us, stand up and primary these scumbag politicians, we WILL win. Many of us will at least. I know if I’m offered an option of some generic politician or a regular person who left their regular life because they’re sick of DC, then that outsider will always get my vote.
Vern Buchanan must be primaried. Is this my job?
The list of Republicans is inaccurate. Will Hurd of TX is no longer in Congress….thank goodness. Those names are from the previous Congress not the current one. The previous bill went into McConnell’s graveyard of ridiculous legislation.
I am a student of history especially the history of fascists Germany Red China and Marxist USSR! I know what happens when you disarm a society to the govt.
