      Best paragraph:

[…] we don’t have a clue whether the fear-induced voluntary extreme isolation and government-mandated shutdowns and bans to which we’ve so far passively acquiesced even serve a purpose.

      Which is entirely true.

It doesn’t matter at this point, we are where we are and we need to work it from this point in time. Getting the country back to work is certainly the goal but Trump has no control over any of the states that won’t do that, and that’s a big sticking point There is a lot to consider going forward and like you have posted in the past, it’s a tough chair to sit in, glad it ain’t me. Trump has surrounded himself with the best people for the areas that are being affected, now they have to figure it out. Like the captain of the Titanic said, why bother yelling at the iceberg. At least that what I heard he said.

No, he doesn’t have control of the states. But he is going to have to make a hard decision to help nudge the governors to do the right thing. He is going to have to stand up in front of the American people and give a statement about opening up the country as in immediately. I do believe he will have the support of the majority of the nation. He also needs to explain the how unconstitutional the shelter in place order is. Explain how the civil liberties of the American people have been stripped away. It cant be allowed. Also, we are going to need a strong governor to be the first. This is not the time for snowflakes.

There is no way Trump will tell any states that are having big problems right now with this virus to go back to business as usual, and no Governor would do it, it would be political suicide for all. Some states are good some are not, and it will be up to each state, maybe with the prodding of it’s citizens, to make that call. It’s a wait and see.

Probably the biggest problem here is that our “tests for Coronaviruses” don’t necessarily test for Covid-19. They can test for the presence of certain antibodies, but you could be carrying those antibodies if you’ve had a common cold in the last six months. You could show positive for those antibodies when what has given you pneumonia is actually something else.

Furthering the problem is a virus’s tendency to mutate freely. They are not “living things.” They induce cells to produce massive numbers of copies of themselves, but those are not necessarily exact copies, and the process really does not “learn from its mistakes.”

We simply acted on the assumption that it was a grand idea to put the entire country on hold for two weeks. Which has never been done before and which shows no particular indication of being successful. There were very good and simple reasons why we said, “if you are sick, you stay home.” I predict that we will all go back to work and that sickness will continue to spread as it always does. Please wash your hands with soap and water, and sneeze into your sleeves. Thank you. That is all.

The coronavirus test, if performed correctly, show the existence of this specific coronavirus. The inaccuracies are results of shabby training, not enough time to sterilize both, the instrument and the room and so on. Practically the existing test system is overwhelmed by the numbers.

        Liked by 1 person

        • Mike Robinson says:

But even “this specific coronavirus” is not consistent in its lethality. People aboard the cruise ship tested positive and showed no symptoms at all – then or later. Others caught a cold. Only a very, very small percentage have developed any more serious symptoms.

You know what they say about “assume: it makes an ass out of u an me.” I think that we did assume. We didn’t react to whatever was actually happening but to dire predictions about what could happen. Whereas, the same public health officials told us all to “wait and see” in response to a far more lethal H1N1 flu. That virus came and went, and we did not stop the world for it.

Agree with everything you’ve said, but what you are missing is the RNA.
CCP Virus has split into two specific RNAs. We need to test for presence of the two RNA strains. Anecdotally the second, newer RNA is the one that fells young people.

The prob is, it takes a blood test to test for the RNAs, and the blood test is what we’ve not yet developed.

The severity of infection is various based on the immune system of the individuals, not based on the “lethality” of virus. The virus is trying to adhere and multiply the same way in every cases, but there’s a defense against that. People with strong immune systems develop mild common cold like symptoms and sail through the illness. Others equipped with less effective defense get sicker. Old folks and others with weak immune systems are the most endangered. When the inner resistance against the virus is weak or near non-existent, as the virus multiplies by the millions, it’s moving deeper and deeper into the respiratory system, finally destroying the lungs. That’s the end.

Mike has a good point. Plus the models being fed by the test are likely loaded with “balancing” assumptions and assumptions on unknowns. We also have “experts” modeling to feed a pre-existing conclusion and experts abusing the results of their worst case models.

Models are supposed to be used as indicators as well as to provide a range of “possible” answers and not end all point answers as they are being used at this point.

That is what we have at this point is experts not properly explaining their methods and then using the results of those same methods to improperly provide point answers.

      • There is NO antibody-based test available yet. It doesn’t exist. All the current tests measure RNA in one form or another, in other words whether a patient has the current presence of virus. Once someone recovers or dies, their tests are negative.

I certainly agree with all the hygiene recommendations though.

          • Yes, U’m confident it will happen. Without a serologic (antibody) test, we also can not measure immunity. Do recovered COVID patients have immunity for a year? For two? For many years? We really don’t know. The virus seems to mutate slower than seasonal influenza A and B, so it is likely that once they do engineer a vaccine, it will protect for a longer period than a year. But it could be like tetanus shots (6-8 years protection).

I’m wondering if anyone saw the video that was posted yesterday regarding the “quiet” state of NYC. A YouTuber “outsourced” or something like that, walked to the Javitt Center (where 2000 hospital beds were being set up). Anyway, he comments on the strange things in NYC. Ambulances not running, no signs of packed hospitals.

If anyone can find the video, please repost. I’ve been looking but to no avail. I would like to watch more of his videos as the news from NYC keeps getting worse.

In a year warehouses will be popping up with millions of dollars of unused equipment. About a couple of years ago in Detroit they starting finding closed schools loaded with computers and all kinds of stuff, millions of dollars worth of stuff, and the schools kids didn’t even have up to date books to work with. “The computers and stuff” isn’t just confined to Detroit.
Under TItle 1, the indigent schools are supposed to receive
them, and new instructional materials. By law. But in many
areas, (cough, Dekalb County, Ga ) they are either purchased,
and warehoused en mass, or they plumb forget to buy them
          and pocket the money, instead.

We had a whole warehouse full of computers that sat there
and gathered dust a 10-20 years ago. We’ve also had plenty
of pictoral evidence that TItle 1 school with language barrier
problems haven’t received any new supplies in forever.

One high school that literally had the roof caving in over the
gym had pictures of the computers taken out of areas nearby.
The computers were the type where the screen area was about
a foot deep. None similar have been made in forever.

If it does go to other countries, you can bet it won’t be sold to them, it will be given. America always gives things away, we don’t get a fair price for it. There’s a mindset that we’d be wrong to actually charge for something that others need. If there wasn’t this pandemic and they simply came to use and asked if they could get some of them, then we’d probably sell them, but given the urgency, American politicians won’t make anyone pay except the American taxpayers who pay for everything everywhere.

You know, I hear stories like this one and I frankly do not believe them. For instance, how exactly do you weld a person into their home? How did a cold-virus that actually is not particularly lethal(!) turn into a bio-weapon? What is the justification for the assertion, repeatedly made here, that it was released into the world “on purpose?”

I’m not from Missouri, but “I’m from Missouri” in this case. In my reading, this author tries much too hard to paint the Chinese government and the Chinese people as bloodthirsty maniacs hungering for revenge and trying purposely to use a virus to do it.

Where was everybody when this ridiculous pork laden corona virus bill was passed by the Senate yesterday? If people can accept the waste of our tax dollars at this critical time when we are all in a state of economic standstill and uncertainty, bombarded with lunatic Dem governors scaring every one of their state residents, then I’m not too confident any kind of protest is going to happen any time soon. DC does not care what a few bunches of people write on the internet or send to their offices and twitter accounts. Nancy Pelosi and the Dems for sure don’t care as we have all too clearly been seeing the last few days. If we haven’t learned that yet then we haven’t learned much.

Sites like CTH have more voice and clout, but unless someone in charge listens and does something then our voices are muted at best.

I’m not trying to be negative although it sounds that way I know, but I am very frustrated over that bill being passed through our Congress and on to the Pres. Why can’t we wait a bit and force the Dems to drop some of their demands? Why? Why do the repubs come on news shows and interviews complaining how bad the bill is but oh dear we can’t do anything about it yada yada yada. They don’t listen to the people but try to sound like they are on our side and then really do what they want. We are stronger than we think and could take a little more time to get it done better. But that’s not going to happen and we will get this Dem agenda packed bill anyway.

I don’t know the answers really but if anyone expects major protests any time soon, I think they are mistaken. The agenda seems to be to continue to hurt the American people a little, look like they are doing something for them, but not enough to make the citizens really mad so we would react like HK or France. I’m talking the Congress here, not the President.

I look forward to PT making my concerns go away and I think he will, but I also know he will sign that bill when it gets to him. I pray it all works out in the end.

There was no opportunity for the many critics of their proposals to have their voices heard. The emergency mentality created a one-man gubernatorial dictatorship in each state.

Right now at a fundamental level deeper than the electoral process and Trump’s policies (which seem to be responses or mitigation) we are being manipulated to an ends. Its not exactly the dems doing it either, at least as far as what we see superficially, though they sure are in cooperation. There is a group or a system in control above it all. I would hesitate to underestimate their strategy at this point and I am not ready to say they have given up the presidential win yet. They never give up because they don’t care what they have to do to get to their goals nor what anyone thinks of how they do it.

They are masters at inventing political chaos and then using whatever unethical, underhanded tools they can think of to move their agenda forward. Case in point, the current corona bill they forced their will upon. Using a crisis for the world to move forward their lust for power and control is right up their alley.

They didn’t get everything they initially threw into the bill, but they got important to them parts that they wanted in there and knew they would. They said through crazy Madame Pelosi that they would keep blocking passage if they didn’t get their demands met. Did they give up? Did they care how the rest of us might be hurt? Did they worry who might be angry or scream at them or what people thought of them? Did they eventually get what they wanted-alot of it anyway? It only took them 3 days to do it.

Joe Biden is one of their tools. He is being coldly and calculatingly used to get what they want. Wait and see what they do next. Don’t ever underestimate their ability to use evil to get what they want or them ever giving up. Ever. If we do, we lose.

This is the price of our financial, cultural and political elites selling us out for decades. I can’t help but recall this: https://theconservativetreehouse.com/2016/10/21/stunning-donald-trump-speech-the-crossroads-in-our-history-video-and-transcript/

“Our movement is about replacing a failed and corrupt political establishment with a new government controlled by you, the American People.

There is nothing the political establishment will not do, and no lie they will not tell, to hold on to their prestige and power at your expense.

The Washington establishment, and the financial and media corporations that fund it, exists for only one reason: to protect and enrich itself.

The establishment has trillions of dollars at stake in this election. As an example, just one single trade deal they’d like to pass, involves trillions of dollars controlled by many countries, corporations and lobbyists.

For those who control the levers of power in Washington, and for the global special interests they partner with, our campaign represents an existential threat.

This is not simply another 4-year election. This is a crossroads in the history of our civilization that will determine whether or not We The People reclaim control over our government.”

You see, we’ve got a coup for you, too, comrades.

“The terrifying model shows that as many as 2.2 million Americans could perish from the virus **if no action is taken**, peaking in June. (Dr Birx pointed this out yesterday)

Professor Gupta lead a team of researchers at Oxford University in a modeling study which suggests that the virus has been invisibly spreading for at least a month earlier than suspected, concluding that as many as half of the people in the United Kingdom have already been infected by COVID-19.

If this is the case, fewer than one in a thousand who’ve been infected with COVID-19 become sick enough to need hospitalization, leaving the vast majority with mild cases or free of symptoms.

The report continues: “The modelling brings back into focus ‘herd immunity’, the idea that the virus will stop spreading when enough people have become resistant to it because they have already been infected.”

“I am surprised that there has been such unqualified acceptance of the Imperial model,” Gupta criticized.”

Last week, Levitt emphasized: “[Y]ou need to think of corona like a severe flu. It is four to eight times as strong as a common flu, and yet, most people will remain healthy and humanity will survive.”

From earlier this week————————-ROME (Reuters) – The number of coronavirus cases in Italy is probably 10 times higher than the official tally, the head of the agency collating the data said on Tuesday as the government readied new measures to force people to stay at home.
“A ratio of one certified case out of every 10 is credible,” Angelo Borrelli, the head of the Civil Protection Agency, told La Repubblica newspaper, indicating he believed as many as 640,000 people could have been infected.

This means the death rate is one tenth of that reported.
Italy has claimed 59,138 cases and 5,476 deaths, which is ~9.2%.
No, it’s really 0.92% or less than 1% – and this among a very old population with a huge percentage of them having serious health issues.

      The scaremongering is flat-out unsupportable.

Some have suggested that it’s due to the high elderly population, but that doesn’t explain why the Diamond Princess had elderly mortality rates in line with the rest of the world. I don’t have the answer to that, but a plausible theory has been offered by Prof. Walter Ricciardi, scientific adviser to Italy’s minister of health, that Italy is overcounting deaths. ***“On re-evaluation by the National Institute of Health, only 12 per cent of death certificates have shown a direct causality from coronavirus***, while 88 per cent of patients who have died have at least one pre-morbidity – many had two or three,” said Ricciardi, according to the U.K. Telegraph.”

We’ll see this to the other side in the next few weeks and then we can begin to cast dispersions. We weren’t in the oval office when “health experts” came in giving the worst case scenario if we don’t become proactive against Covid-19. We’ve read the early numbers of up to 2million dead in the USA alone. See link below.

    https://www.ibtimes.sg/estimates-worst-case-scenario-covid-19-1-7-million-could-die-us-alone-40977

    How would you respond?

Now let’s look at reality. Five months of stats.
We now know that those numbers don’t bear out reality. Forget China and look at South as of 3/26/20 (9241 Cases 131 Deaths 4144 Recovered) In a country of 51million plus. I’m not a statistician or actuary, but put in common language, this is unremarkable. They have peaked and have dealt with this virus for 3 + months.

Then we look at the world numbers (486,592 Cases 22,020 Deaths 114,713 Recovered) Again, these are unremarkable numbers against other causes of death we face daily. Keep in mind this is a 5 month total where the disease has peaked and waned.

I’m sure the president knows these numbers as well and is beginning to smell a swamp rat. But you’ve declared an emergency and hobbled our roaring economy. What’s a president to do? Though we all know the best solution is to allow the American people to get back to work, However, you still remember the prediction of 2million dead. So he decides on a stimulus to bridge the gap. Though this is a swamp creation devised to enhance the swamp it should also help the average worker to survive a couple more weeks and then begin to restart commerce. We’ll see.

Our Great President Trump acted on information that may turn out to be specious, I don’t want to believe it was intentional, but experience tells me that it is at least a 50/50 proposition that this is the latest NWO attempt to stop our Great President Trump or they were just simply wrong. Either way a serious look at the process must take place, but we’re talking swamp doubtful without President Trump.

Regardless, we must support our Great President Trump as he navigates the swamp. 2020 is ballgame for the USA.

KAG! …this too shall pass. Be cool, hang tough and be prepared!

If I were modeling the death impact as a democrat I use 5 as a Republican i use .005…

My favorite saying is that Mother Nature doesn’t care if you are republican or Democrat. Modeling will get better when the factors are refined thru actual data. But then we must remember data like who won the election data depends on who might be stuffing the ballot boxes.

My sister remembered that a Canadian couple was murdered —- they manufactured hydroxychloroquine.

Billionaire pharmaceutical company founder Barry and his wife Honey Sherman were murdered in their Toronto home on Dec. 15, 2017.

They owned Apotex, a manufacturer of generic drugs, specifically HYDROXYCHLOROQUINE.

They manufactured the drug that some people might have been very interested in getting off the market.

They were found in a seated position at the side of a pool in a lower level of the house, with their legs facing away from the pool. The belts were around the neck, with the end of the belt through the buckle and pulled tight. The free end of each belt was then looped or tied around a low railing that surrounds the pool.

Sources say a working theory of the private team probing the deaths is that the Shermans were strangled by the belts, then the belts were attached to the railing, holding them in a seated position.

They were killed in what looks like a professional, contract killing. That’s the conclusion of a variety of experts who have been hired by the family to probe the case.

Federal authorities said Timothy Watson, 36, was part of a domestic terror investigation because he was preparing an attack on a hospital.

Watson was reportedly upset with the government’s actions toward the spread of coronavirus and was planning a bombing at a Kansas City-area hospital that was providing critical care during the current coronavirus pandemic.

The FBI also said Watson was a potentially violent extremist who was spurred by racist and anti-governmental rhetoric.

According to an FBI press release, Watson “decided to accelerate his plan to use a vehicle-born improvised explosive device in an attempt to cause severe harm and mass casualties.”

Federal agents attempted to arrest Watson when he arrived at a location to get what he believed to be a truck bomb.

Wilson was armed at the time and shots were fired. No one else was injured in the shooting.

“There was a bunch of SUVs, black, and there was people wearing, HAZ-MAT stuff and white outfits and masks and stuff. I had no idea what that was,” said Marty Feuerborn, a business owner who witnessed the FBI response.

An investigation into the matter is being conducted by the FBI’s inspection division.

All I keep hearing is stay at home! What I want to hear is what aggressive approach is my state, county, city, doing to put out the fire. Fighting forest fires is the best experience we have with something like this virus. Focus on the major outbreaks, keep people away, make sure everyone in the area is aware, and keep the public informed so they stay out of the way or help in any way they can.

First, everyone needs to know exactly where the hottest fires are burning. That means every city should be publishing how many cases they currently have. Right now in MN I can’t get anyone to tell me how hot is the fire in my city. The MN dept of health and city health officials claim they don’t have the data or won’t give it out for privacy reasons. But yet they publish total cases tested, how many positive, and how many per county. Right now per MNDH Hennepin county MN has 111 cases vs many counties have 1. There is ZERO privacy issues with telling us a simple number per city.

I have talked to about 10 people in the last few days asking what they are doing to address areas that seem to have more spread than other areas. All I get is we need testing, shelter in place, wash your hands, bla bla, no answer about any different approach to addressing localized outbreaks. The MNDH website even says “Monitor local information about COVID-19 in your community”. OK, why can’t I get that information?

I had 2 people at MNDH hang up on me because I’m asking these questions. Defense will never stop the spread, but Hennepin county quotes on their website that the Democrat governors orders are “the best defense to stop the spread and save lives”. Those orders are generalized and apply to the entire state even though one county has 111 cases and many have 1. So again I have asked what extra “offensive” measures are being taken to address the areas with the most cases and they simply have no answers.

MN is a mostly Democrat run state for many years. I worked at one of the largest counties for 13 years and I have seen first hand the utter lack of problem solving or critical thinking skills. By the way, have you noticed that all the nationwide hot outbreaks are in democrat run large cities? They have 6,365 tested cases in MN with location of test and place of residence on a spreadsheet or in a software but claim they can’t publish. So people, be prepared to be sacrificed to protect the privacy of a few at the expense of the whole.
