Dan Bishop and Greg Murphy Win North Carolina Special Elections…

The media were prepared to use the term “bellwether” for the next several weeks, all they needed was for democrats to win two special election House seats in North Carolina.  Unfortunately for the narrative engineers, following campaign stops by President Donald Trump, republicans Dan Bishop (NC-09) and Greg Murphy (NC-03) won both districts.

(NC State Election Results)

The lamestream media will immediately downplay the results which reflect continued strength of support for President Donald Trump and his policies in the Tar Heel state.

Wikipedia has an article about the ~National Day of Prayer~ in the USA. An observance for a day of prayer started at the beginning of our country. Here’s the President’s Proclamation for 2019. =
      *****************************************************************************************************
      “National Day of Prayer, 2019
      Issued on: April 30, 2019

Americans have always found power and unity through prayer. In 1988, the Congress, by Public Law 100-307, called on the President to issue each year a proclamation designating the first Thursday in May as a “National Day of Prayer.” Today, on this National Day of Prayer, we once again come together to give thanks to Almighty God for the bountiful blessings He has bestowed on our great Nation and to ask for His unfailing counsel. We also acknowledge our dependence on God’s love to guide our families, communities, and our country away from harm and toward abundance and peace.

Our Nation acknowledges that religious liberty is a natural right, given to us by our Creator, not a courtesy that government extends to us. The First Amendment recognizes the freedom of religion and safeguards this right against government infringement. The United States’ steadfast commitment to upholding religious freedom has ensured that people of different faiths can pray together and live in peace as fellow American citizens. We have no tolerance for those who disrupt this peace, and we condemn all hate and violence, particularly in our places of worship.

Throughout our Nation’s history, Americans have consistently turned to God for guidance at pivotal moments. In 1775, the Continental Congress first declared a day of prayer, asking American patriots throughout the colonies to pray in earnest for divine help in forming our Republic. Seventy-five years ago this June, President Franklin D. Roosevelt led the Nation in prayer as courageous Americans stormed the beaches of Normandy on D-Day. He prayed: “Almighty God: Our sons, pride of our Nation, this day have set upon a mighty endeavor . . . Lead them straight and true; give strength to their arms, stoutness to their hearts, steadfastness in their faith.” Today, we also pray for strength for our Nation and our Armed Forces as we face new challenges at home and abroad.

Our Nation’s honored tradition of prayer has sustained us and strengthened our trust that God will continue to watch over and accompany us through the best of times and the darkest hours. May we as Americans never forget the power of prayer and the greatness of our Creator. On this National Day of Prayer, let each of us, according to our own faiths, call upon God for His guidance and express our gratitude for the love and grace He bestows on us and our country.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, DONALD J. TRUMP, President of the United States of America, by virtue of the authority vested in me by the Constitution and the laws of the United States of America, do hereby proclaim May 2, 2019, as a National Day of Prayer. I invite the citizens of our Nation to pray, in accordance with their own faiths and consciences, in thanksgiving for the freedoms and blessings we have received, and for God’s guidance and continued protection as we meet the challenges before us.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand this
thirtieth day of April, in the year of our Lord two thousand nineteen, and of the Independence of the United States of America the two hundred and forty-third.

      DONALD J. TRUMP

Spanberger (who replaced Dave Brat in a very conservative district did not. But you can betcha both of them toe the line whenever they’re told to.

Interestingly, here in VA, Scott Taylor (whom Luria defeated) came out with his first campaign ad back in 2018 to announce just how “independent” he was — code for not being a Trumpster is how I took it — wonder how many votes that cost him. How many Trump supporters didn’t bother to vote.

Let’s hope these two Tarheels don’t disappoint the way Taylor disappointed with his kowtowing to the establishment Republicans.

This election shows the strength of DJT over RINO Republicans. Without Trump the district swung progressive Democrat. With Trump it swung back to a Trump Republican.
I think the Republican party—the grassroots part—clearly belongs to Trump and will respond only to him. How many times does the conservative insurgency and the president have to demonstrate this to RINO Republicans before they realize that that can’t pretend to be conservatives at election time only to return to DC and the swamp and vote progressive? That time is over and they either change and support Trump or they get out of the way.

I was watching the online returns in the Bishop/McCready race. As I was doing so, I was thinking to myself… “Who ARE these guys?” I really know absolutely nothing about either of them, but that didn’t matter one bit. All I knew is that Trump was pushing hard for Bishop… and that’s ALL I had to know. That’s right, even though I know nothing about him, I’m thrilled that Bishop won… for the simple reason that Trump badly wanted him to win.

So… wait, what?… So my litmus test for politicians is now whether Trump wants them to win? YES! That’s exactly where I’m at right now.

POTUS knows when to fight, and when to leave well enough alone. Incumbents almost always have the edge, and unless they’re flawed in some egregious way, then they should return. Democrats have a way of fielding candidates and going for a weaker GOP candidate in the Sasse situation wouldn’t be helpful. Sasse isn’t Romney who is in a hate class all his own.

POTUS is looking to preserve our Majority in the Senate, maybe if we’re lucky gain a seat or two. We do have at least two currently GOP seats at risk, that’s Colorado’s Bennett, and Arizona’s McSally. McSally was an appointment and has a tough road to get reelected, Bennett would have been okay, but the “popular” former Dem governor, Hicklooper, is going for that seat.

So, we have seats needing more resources, and likely POTUS’ efforts, instead of making it more difficult by adding new GOP faces for some of these seats. Sasse is still going to vote the way POTUS wants – especially in a 2020 win.

It’s reasonable to think about this way, and GOP often blows it…

Trump came to the district and was a YUGE factor, as my new Congressman appropriately pointed out in his victory speech. For those who don’t know any about him, Dan Bishop was our county commissioner, state house member and most recently our state senator. He is a principled conservative and, as importantly, a good, decent, honest man.

Great victory in NC Ninth District—and America—tonight.

^ This. I still need to be talked off a ledge. I’m so confused as to why this turned out to be so close in a strongly conservative state. Is there something about this district, or should we expect the same narrow margins in 2020, even in perceived conservative states? Why, in just about the best economy we’ve seen in decades, is there such a strong headwind against a Trump-centric candidate? It is that voters simply don’t understand the connection between Trump and prosperity even though the facts literally scream about the link?

        • NC has become a purple state. Lots of retirees from the NE and NW USA, all Democrats. Charlotte is the big city in District 9; it has been taken over by the leftists…that’s where the whole bathroom issue started with the City Council saying men could use women’s bathrooms, etc. So, what used to be a Republican District is now not so much.

But check out the absentee ballot count in District 9…Democrat swamped Bishop there..lots of fraud and corruption in NC local politics…that’s all I have to say.

I live in Western NC and in a very leftist county. Rest of WNC is more conservative..we have Mark Meadows!!! Yeah! My county is one of the NC counties where the Sheriff is not cooperating with ICE, etc.
So, the idea that NC is a solid conservative state is obsolete.

District 3 includes part of Pitt County which houses ECU but I’m not sure if ECU is in the boundary of District 3 or 1.

Charlotte normally votes Democrat. It doesn’t make any difference the office or the candidate. Charlotte is a big voting block for Democrats in NC09. There are other big Democrat voting blocks in the NC09 Congressional District.

Mecklenburg County’s registration (City of Charlotte is in this County):

        Democratic: 311,693
        Republican: 161,580
        Green: 174
        Constitution: 217
        Libertarian: 4,834
        Unaffiliated: 240,076
        Total: 718,574

Actually it surprises me that the GOP is going to hold their 2020 convention there because of Charlotte’s voting pattern.

The Democrats that didn’t vote was a gift to the GOP. Go back and look at the voting method. The Democrats voted absentee ballots and the Bishop voters voted at the polling place on Election Day. I don’t know what the norm is for the area but it is something to watch in the future.

I joined the Repub Party ONLY because the Repub Party of VA routinely screws conservatives out of primaries and I didn’t want to see them pull anything on Trump in 2016.

My in-laws in NC (Chapel Hill area) are to the left of Vladimir Lenin, so the idea that NC is a conservative state is nonsense. The Left have moved into NC (and Virginia where I live) in droves. They’ve already turned VA blue and are working on NC. Having fouled their own nests, they’re now fouling ours. How many snowbirds vote in MA AND Florida? My bet is a lot more than you think. What’s to stop them? Is there any check on voting absentee in MA and then voting in person in FL? Didn’t think so.

So I live across the border from NC, near District 9. I have friends in Charlotte and contacted them yesterday to remind them to vote. I looked up the actual district, and put in their addresses to find out if they were in that district. While looking that up I found a series of maps going back to the 80s showing how that district has changed geographically.

Its unreal. It went from a map split up basically just like large counties, to all sorts of weird shapes stretching along thin lines and out again.

It stretches along the border of SC west into Charlotte and then juts into the most high class area of Charlotte, Myers Park.

The gerrymandering has got to stop.

I think that this is the reason that the race was close.

Charlotte city council is 100% Dems. Meck County is a sanctuary county thanks to the idiot Sheriff. He released a pedophile, with multiple counts of sexual assault on a minor, onto the streets after city police arrested him and ICE sent a detainer request.

Police arrested him on a Friday, ICE sent request on Saturday, Sheriff office released him on a Sunday.

Gerrymandering pretty much ruined Long Island NY, as well. LI as a whole had voted straight Republican for some forty years, until they bused in all these illegals, and then re-mapped the voting districts.

Obama was even bolder, as he just studied the lay of the land, and then dropped his sanctuary cities right smack into the red districts, whether we wanted them or not. No new lines are needed, when *re-zoning* will suffice.

Now, the few Republicans left standing are hanging on by just a thread. And most of them have evolved into RINOS anyway.

One, the Left IS violent but even more importantly the Democrats don’t know how many votes to steal if they don’t know how many of us there are. Can’t have 35,000 people voting when there are only 10,000 registered voters and 20,000 people. Even the media can’t cover up those kinds of discrepancies.
