Sunday August 25th – Open Thread

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name. Thy kingdom come. THY WILL BE DONE, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but DELIVER US FROM EVIL. For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever and ever. Amen †

    All For Us

Have you ever thought how much God has done “for us” in Christ?

In Romans 8:32 we read that to save us from sin, God “spared not His own Son, but delivered Him up FOR US all”. In Titus 2:14 we are told that Christ “gave Himself FOR US, that He might redeem us from all iniquity…”. In Romans 5:8 the Apostle declares that “while we were yet sinners, Christ died FOR US”. Galatians 3:13 says that Christ was “made a curse FOR US”.

Hebrews 9:12 states that “He entered…into the holy place [the presence of the Father], having obtained eternal redemption FOR US”. And if we trust Him for this “eternal redemption” we may read further in Hebrews 9:24 that “Christ is not entered into the holy places made with hands…but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God FOR US”. Romans 8:34 asks who can condemn the believer in Christ, since HE [the Lord Jesus Christ] is now “at the right hand of God” and “maketh intercession FOR US”.

Hebrews 6:20 declares that our Lord entered the Father’s presence “FOR US” as our “Forerunner”. Hebrews 10:19,20 therefore encourages believers to come to God in prayer: “Having therefore, brethren, boldness to ENTER into the holiest by the blood of Jesus…a new and living way, which He hath consecrated FOR US…”.

Just think how much God has done FOR US in Christ! He delivered His beloved Son to death FOR US, Christ gave Himself FOR US, died FOR US, became a curse FOR US, intercedes FOR US, entered heaven FOR US as a Forerunner, and consecrated “a new and living way” into God’s presence FOR US, so that we may “come boldly unto the throne of grace” to “obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need” (Heb.4:16). “If God be FOR US, who can be against us” (Rom.8:31)?

Romans 8:32 He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?

Titus 2:14 Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.

Romans 5:8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

Galatians 3:13 Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree:

Hebrews 9:12 Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us.

Hebrews 9:24 For Christ is not entered into the holy places made with hands, which are the figures of the true; but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God for us:

Romans 8:34 Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us.

Hebrews 6:20 Whither the forerunner is for us entered, even Jesus, made an high priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec.

Hebrews 10:19 Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus,
    20 By a new and living way, which he hath consecrated for us, through the veil, that is to say, his flesh;

Hebrews 4:16 Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.

Romans 8:31 What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?

Christians, of all people to hate, are one of the most accepting. We/ I try to guide, influence, teach in love. My observation is these people convict themselves, removing Christians will only condemn and damn them IMHO. They are a miserable bunch these leftists.

Sent to me by a retired detective: BTW, the ‘DEA’ in the memo is the NYC Detective’s Endowment Association.

A Message to All DEA Members from President Michael J. Palladino

Yesterday Police Commissioner James P. O’Neill fired Police Officer Daniel Panteleo, in effect, blaming him for Eric Garner’s death during a lawful arrest. The politically motivated decision touches each and every one of us, because we all know that on any given day we could be in the very same position that Officer Panteleo and his fellow cops found themselves in; dealing with an uncooperative suspect who is resisting arrest.

Recent criminal justice reforms by City and State legislators clearly indicate what they want: a less engaged NYPD. And the Panteleo decision solidified that in the minds of most cops. If it’s not true, then the NYPD needs to communicate this immediately to the rank and file.

Once the decision was made yesterday, I felt a myriad of emotions ranging from demoralized to absolute anger, leaving me totally troubled about where we go from here as law enforcement professionals and no doubt you felt the same way.

The common denominator with most controversial police incidents is resisting arrest, which is a subject anti-police politicians steer clear from, because they would have to admit what I have always said: “Show me a resisting arrest and I will show you an ugly video, plain and simple.” Absent political support and clear direction from the NYPD, we find ourselves in “self-preservation mode,” because you have too much to lose and little to gain.

Therefore, until further notice, or until clear direction from the NYPD, if the suspect you are engaging with willingly submits, then affect the arrest. But if you are given the least bit of resistance, either verbal or physical, get your covering supervisors to the scene and let them make the call. If a covering Detective Bureau supervisor is unavailable or delayed, call for a uniformed patrol supervisor and be guided by his or her instructions. If the responding supervisor can’t or won’t make a decision, that supervisor can call the next rank above them to respond.

If the subject refuses to remain on the scene while you await the supervisor, use your discretion as to whether to detain the individual or not by accessing the safety of the situation around you and the crime for which the individual is wanted. As absurd as this sounds, we must proceed this way at this time.

Please remember to be aware of what’s going on around you. In light of the recent water dousing and debris throwing incidents, the threat against you may be coming from someone other than the person with whom you are engaging.

Many police departments run by progressive governments are already refusing to respond to reports of petty crime like shoplifting and car break-ins. Even worse, response times are lengthening. Basically, the cops ain’t comin’.

In New Orleans the glacial response times were largely the result of a broken PD. It wasn’t unusual, at one time, for we deputies to call for NOPD backup and brew coffee and bake a cake while we waited.

The rank in many LEAs are polioticians and not cops, they are like those in other professions who see grunt work as beneath them and become politicians in uniform, willing throw throw street cops under the bus for political gain. You know, like the old story about how if the boss stopped short they’d have to use the Jaws of Life to extract the suck-up’s head from the boss’s butt?

We’re seeing political moves to remove the position of sheriff, and the sheriff’s department, from county government. Most polioce chiefs are appointed by the city’s political ‘leaders’ while sheriffs, the technically top LEA officer in a county, is voted in by the people. City bosses and chiefs do not like that and are moving to have the cities, at the very least, take over all policing in a county after the divvy up the territory. It’s a bad time to be a cop.

Candace Owens is one of the brightest people in modern-day media. Here she shows that she doesn’t suffer fools kindly when she gets into a lengthy discussion with a UK radical-feminist who’s repetition of dogma turns out to be a poor substitute for the kind of intellectual skill a discussion with Candace requires. It’s a little embarrassing watching this young woman have her head handed to her but, then, Candace was at least polite about the whole thing . . . 🙂

At that moment she should have been dragged out in the front lawn and hung on a tree til the rope rotted or her neck did. That would be justice. If she said I did it, I apologize I’m guilty maybe mercy but that arrogance means she would do it all again.

    THE FRUITFULNESS OF FRIENDSHIP

“I have called you friends.” John xv. 15

We never know the joy of self-sacrifice until we abandon in every particular. Self-surrender is the most difficult thing – I will if…! Oh, well, I suppose I must devote my life to God. There is none of the joy of self-sacrifice in that.

As soon as we do abandon, the Holy Ghost gives us an intimation of the joy of Jesus. The final aim of self-sacrifice is laying down our lives for our Friend. When the Holy Ghost comes in, the great desire is to lay down the life for Jesus, and the thought of sacrifice never touches us because sacrifice is the love passion of the Holy Ghost.

Our Lord is our example in the life of self-sacrifice – “I delight to do Thy will, O my God.” He went on with His sacrifice with exuberant joy. Have I ever yielded in absolute submission to Jesus Christ? If Jesus Christ is not the lodestar, there is no benefit in the sacrifice; but when the sacrifice is made with the eyes on Him, slowly and surely the molding influence begins to tell.

Beware of letting natural affinities hinder your walk in love. One of the most cruel ways of killing natural love is by disdain built on natural affinities. The affinity of the saint is the Lord Jesus. Love for God is not sentimental, for the saint to love as God loves is the most practical thing.

“I have called you friends.” It is a friendship based on the new life created in us which has no affinity with our old life, but only with the life of God. It is unutterably humble, unsulliedly pure, and absolutely devoted to God.

    To Ponder

Let me ponder on the wonderful providence of God in the choice of Saul as king (I Samuel 9):

    1. How Saul went to seek the lost asses.

    2. How Samuel, to whom God revealed that Saul was to be Israel’s king, met him.

    3. How God’s providence guides the people, and sometimes gives them that which they do not anticipate.

I am greatly concerned about all the “flesh eating bacteria “ cases I keep reading about. Lives lost and many amputees coming from dog saliva and the ones caused from the oceans, rivers , ponds and jacuzzis. Just last night I read an article where a young mother had a rug burn on her shoulder and it became infected by the “strep germs” on her three sons skin. Supposedly we all carry that on our skin? She had multiple amputations.

I remember as a young child swimming in the ocean yearly with scratches and cuts from summer play. I jumped in mud puddles…now you can get brain eating bacteria if the water goes in your nose and it has the amoeba in the water???
What is happening or better yet … what is the CDC hiding?

I remember swimming in a small lake in Florida, along with many other young people, and coming up out of the water only to see a floating……….turd. I got out, but found out we had been swimming in that polluted water all summer. I wasn’t sick a day and didn’t hear of anyone else who was. Something is very different.

      • Back in the day this was called “Sleeping Sickness” and caused by bacteria that was always present in FL lakes, but only flourished in summer months when water temps passed a certain threshold. That’s why places with cold, spring-fed freshwater sources (like Wekiva, Rock Springs, or Sanlando Springs) were so popular. Larger lakes were mostly safer because their depth allowed for cooler water temps, while shallows and smaller ponds were best acoided during the hottest months.
