Philadelphia Eagles Politicize Championship Celebration – White House Cancels Invitation…

A statement from The President: “The Philadelphia Eagles are unable to come to the White House with their full team to be celebrated tomorrow. They disagree with their President because he insists that they proudly stand for the National Anthem, hand on heart, in honor of the great men and women of our military and the people of our country. The Eagles wanted to send a smaller delegation, but the 1,000 fans planning to attend the event deserve better.

These fans are still invited to the White House to be part of a different type of ceremony one that will honor our great country, pay tribute to the heroes who fight to protect it, and loudly and proudly play the National Anthem. I will be there at 3:00 p.m. with the United States Marine Band and the United States Army Chorus to celebrate America.” (link)

The NFL players, and the ones who are protesting are doing so in order to compel me to care! The truth is, I don’t care, which means they failed in their protest due to the methods they chose to employ! I might have cared had they thought it out carefully and chose another venue or method to use to get their message across, but that ship has sailed.
      See ya!

      • The No Fans Left is also a perfect example of the globalist psychopath invention of “diversity”…

Take a look at those percentages. Last time I looked at the stats it was 78% BLACK.

So very diverse, and I finally understood what the word means. To the orchestrators of chaos and division in the world, that is.

NFL ~70% black; NBA ~75% black. And guess which league had debates going on a few years ago regarding “lack of diversity”? That’s right: Major League BASEBALL! It’s a little under 10% black, so OF COURSE that means some kind of racism is at work… but OF COURSE there’s no racism in NFL or NBA.

What we are witnessing is the full bloom of the “sense of entitlement”. Most of these players have been molly-coddled, and told they are so great, etc, etc, etc.

What is missing is the sense of appreciation. Appreciation that their parents supported them, Appreciation that God blessed them with talent.

I had the opportunity a few weeks ago to go to a MLB event with the Detroit Tigers called Homeplate. This was a celebration by many of the players (from both teams!) of recognizing the influence of Christ in their young lives. These players and coaches who stood in front of a crowd of about 10,000 fans were examples to be held up to our kids. Sure, some of them had problems in the past, drugs, women, money, etc. But they had each and every one found Christ had the uncanny ability to lead them away from their troubles, turn their life around and commit to their community to be builders, not troublemakers.

The speakers were representative of what racism does not look like. The young men present and in support of the speakers were white, black, hispanic, asian……….from countries like Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico (OK, still part of USA!!), Cuba, Japan, China, Mexico, The United States, Canada, there was even one fellow from Italy….not all were players, some were coaches, and some were past players. But the amazing thing is there were about 15 current players there in support of the speakers.

These are the young men who do so much to support their communities. Quietly, diligently. They give their time, money, and hearts to try to make the world a better place. Not a lot of fanfare or noise. No extravaganza’s or movies about their lives. Unlike the churlish, attention-hungry babies, we so often see held up as examples of professional sports.

Sorry to be long winded, but this is my example of contrast of what is wrong in professional sports, and what is not. I think it extrapolates to society in general as well. Those with a strong moral foundation support society. Those without a moral foundation tear society apart, and seek only their own aggrandizement and hunger so much for attention that they do stupid things. It is sad, they haven’t the fortitude to understand that they are already loved, loved more than can ever understand. Loved by Christ.

        Friends,
Just want to remind everyone of my post from September, 2017 ….
        Fellow refugees,
We have a player, Isaiah Crowell, on the Cleveland Browns who posted a photo of an assassin slitting the throat of a police officer: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3686323/Cleveland-Browns-running-Isaiah-Crowell-posts-viral-mock-picture-cop-having-throat-slit-Dallas-attack.html
–a photo that instigated the assassination of 5 Dallas officers–a player who received virtually no punishment, was forced into an apology by the Cleveland patrolman’s union and is still collecting his paycheck from owner Jimmy Haslam. So please forgive me if I cannot join you in your outrage for players who did not stand for our anthem. Did any of those players hold up an effigy of a member of the military with a knife in his throat and blood dripping down his uniform? I don’t recall. Did any player do that? Their behavior was a childish, cowardly, self-centered act of protest– not threats of murder against other human beings.
As long as the NFL condones the evil of Isaiah Crowell and attempts to conceal domestic violence demonstrated by the Ray Rice video, I will never watch another game. And after seeing reports of fans still attending and watching Browns’ games, people like me are a very small minority.

We cancelled ours almost two years ago. Ridiculous pricing, crappy content and slow as s*** speed sealed the deal. We now only have internet for Netflix etc. I was little “anxious” about missing some sports. But I got over it pretty quick. Easy habit to break.

FWIW, if anyone has Spectrum, check your download speed about once a month. We have caught them numerous times having slowed our speed to half or less of what we pay for. You have to call them up, bitch about it, they give you the “whoopsie” spiel, reset it and you’re good, until it happens again. Wash, rinse, repeat.

(I don’t remember exactly) I have been a Cowboy fan since I was a mere child. Many stars I loved growing up. Slowly, the game lost its luster for me because of thuggish behavior on and off the field. If I have to make a choice between NFL football and the Dallas Cowboys over my Flag and Country and the National Anthem, then my choice is and was last year very easy to make. These guys made their bed and now I intend to make them lie in it. I would love to get my Cowboys back but not at the expense of our Flag. I will continue to find something else to do on Sunday after church. I refuse to watch a bunch of rich, selfish ,ungrateful thugs. End of rant.

Agree, When Tom Landry was fired I started calling them the Arkansas Cowboys. No longer did I watch Football, except for College games. My out was to reverse the question and ask them what they thought; it worked.

The old cowboys will never come back. The Roger Staubachs, the Tom Landrys, the Tony Dorsettes; they were all iconic football legends in one way or another and none of them with grotesque tattoos or criminal history or any sort of violent or other scandals associated with them.

It’s the NFL’s thuggish hiring which leads to the NFL’s thuggish behaviors. It’s very disappointing to me (and to you) because when I was growing up, the “razzle dazzle” plays and all manner of unpredictability no longer grace the field the way they once did. The NFL once required high standards of every type. But now? And why?! With so many trying to play in the NFL, they can absolutely choose those with the highest moral standards. So why?! Why go with the worst people?? They have destroyed people who have been life-long fans… born into the fandom. We saw better, more ideal times and we see the difference and we do not like it.

Remember back when “celebrations” were banned? I don’t mean teammates celebrating a win, I mean an individual player “dancing” around after a play, particularly a score. One of the first to ever do that stuff was Billy (“White Shoes”) Johnson. He had been doing it awhile, even getting penalized for it, but it didn’t stop him. What DID stop him was when he did it in front of Thomas Henderson one time. BOOM!… little Billy wasn’t dancing now. 🙂

Not coincidentally, the basketball years just happened to almost exactly coincide with the Larry Bird era (college and pros). 😉 Never was much into hockey. So now about all I’ve got left is baseball. But even though I’ve been a Cards fan for a LONG time (since late ’60s), I now find I have almost zero enthusiasm for the team. (Long story, but mostly involving the owners’ complete lack of loyalty toward players, particularly a certain guy named Albert 😦 ).

      • Daniel, It’s not just the NFL who no longer have any class, dignity, morals or patriotism. Think about the old Hollywood actors and actresses. When they were out in public they were expected to have class and dignity and act and dress like the movie stars they were. And in that time people were actually patriotic, people were ostracized if they weren’t. Now they are all actors, publically sleep around, do drugs, bad mouth anything patriotic, act like complete jerks and revere anyone who will help their career. That is until the career makers get caught then everyone is astonished or jumps up and says “oo, oo, me to, they did it to me too”.

My comments here are strictly based on the State of the Union. It is and has been ripped to shreds for over a century, we are not in control of it, and we have a chance to get busy and at least TRY to assist our VSG President Trump in his efforts.

With all that President Trump is having to deal with at this time in history, the NFL is a gnat on his to-do-list. President Trump is not being petty, President Trump is extending a welcoming hand and all he is getting is a slap.

I really wish there was a mandatory two year service enlistment for graduating high school students. My generation lived in the era of Vietnam; there was the draft, our number got called, we served. Many came home whole, a lot came home with missing limbs or messed up brains. Too, too many came home in a box. Boo hoo NFL players, life’s a bitch.

It could have been the other way around. Those who didn’t want to go to the WH could have just just shut up and not made the trip but no, they had to make it a big deal to show that THEIR opinions were more important than what the TEAM wanted and the TEAM ALLOWED THEM to do it. No disavowal. No statement that these players DO NOT speak for the team etc. SO be it.

The entire NFL took offense when our President called them out on their unPatriotic behavior and disrespect for our flag and all it stands for. They decided “they’d show HIM!”. Now the league is in tatters, people have turned their backs on the game, attendance is in the tank and they STILL want to show the President of the United States who’s boss. They thought they could win that fight. They were and are, sadly mistaken. They are learning what many world leaders are learning. This is not a man you want to challenge lightly. Like all the great athletes, he only plays to win. If they are disappointed, maybe they should call Colin Kappernick and thank him. They can Google him under “Where are they now?”

“The brave men who rejected the White House invitation”

Trump is taking away those privileges which means he’s under no obligation to allow next year’s champion into the White House.

Also the White House is always open. If people on the team really wanted to see the president, I’m sure Trump could accommodate them (and I’m sure their family) in a way that is hidden from the media’s eyes. Those guest lists exist for a reason.

  19. What if anything have the players taking a knee accomplished?
There have been no changes. They have tarnished their brand for nothing more than a handful of lies.
Have the murders stopped in places like Chicago or Baltimore? Has any policy been put in place to stop any of the killings that go on in cities everyday?

Has drug use stopped or slowed down?
Has anyone addressed the fact that 95% of all crimes against black people are committed by black males?

Have black neighborhoods become safer for people living there?
What you have is nothing more that a protest that has gone on for almost 2 seasons that has no means of correcting any problems or making peoples lives any better.

But you have that hated guy in the WH that has been doing positive things for all Americans.
He alone has made blacks and Hispanic lives better by lowering the unemployment rates for not just those groups but for everyone.
He’s going after the drug dealers and the gang members that have caused the destruction of the inner city lives for years.

And one last thing while I’m on this rant.
It’s not the person in the WH, its the office and the recognition that players and fans get for their team.
That seems to be lost in all of this.
Fans buy the seats, the hot dogs and beer. They also support their team with merchandise and shell out big bucks to make the team known to the world.
And as crazy as that sounds to some, those fans are from all walks of life and from both sides of the political spectrum.

This to me is not about politics and should never be. This is about the fans and nothing more.
One more way to get recognized as the best. Something that fans and players should welcome and be proud of.
And I find it disgusting that players refuse to see that.

You’re right—they were one of the few teams last year who did not kneel, however there were a couple of players who seemed to like raising their fist. I was well aware of their proclivities long before that, so it didn’t surprise me one bit.

This whole thing is extremely upsetting to me. I’ve been an Eagles fan my entire life. The only reason I did not completely cut off from them last year was because of the aforementioned, & also because a large number of the players are (supposedly) Christians & relied heavily on prayer. The franchise quarterback, Carson Wentz, is a wonderful young Christian man who as far as I can tell has had no part in this blatant disrespect. I know that he was definitely looking forward to going to the White House. The backup QB, Nick Foles, who was the one who actually led them to the championship, is very much the same kind of person.

The owner, Jeff Lurie, is a typical Hollywood liberal who used to produce B-grade movies. More recently he won some award for a documentary on “climate change”. There are a couple of players, Malcolm Jenkins & Chris Long in particular, who really seem to enjoy making a spectacle out of this behavior. And I don’t think I need to tell anyone here about the political makeup of the city of Philadelphia. My sense is that there were probably more players who would have gone, but caved to pressure. Regardless, this is no excuse.

I was initially hoping President Trump would not have even invited them, giving these people more of a soapbox to stand on. When he did & they accepted, I had hoped that perhaps they had decided it was more important to present the Christian values they had so often professed instead of being stompy-footed children protesting things about which they are clearly ignorant. Obviously I was wrong. I find what happened here to be disgraceful, but sadly unsurprising, & President Trump most definitely did the right thing. I would suggest that those calling themselves Christians who either refused to go initially or caved within the last few days heed Paul’s advice in 2 Corinthians 13:5.

I stand 100% with our President.

I just heard on the local Fox TV channel that the P. The main factor was President Trump insisted everyone, including all the Eagles players and staff in attendance, would be required to stand for the playing of The National Anthem. They refused, so the President cancelled.

What a bunch of arrogant, self-entitled buttheads. WTH did they expect President Trump to do, back down for their selfish, worthless cause and allow them to kneel or sit in disrespect for our flag, anthem, veterans and active military people?

I actually didn’t need any more reasons but the politicized protesting NFL players continue to spin them out. It’s truly gratifying to be totally free of the habitual compulsion to watch an NFL football game. The former enjoyment of watching the best athletes play pro football has evaporated.

The feckless league and Commissioner Goodell, who just received a huge pay boost by the owners, tried to assuage the insatiable players concerns and to molly coddle them but it looks like the protesting players will not stop until the league loses enough fans to seriously damage or ruin the league. Their hopes are coming to fruition.

Too funny. Eagles tried the latest leftest tact which is embarrass the president.

Varney, FBN just reported Eagles originally said they would send ~70 team members to the WH. Then asked to postpone till next week. Of course that was not gonna happen as PDJT has that insignificant (sarc) meeting with Kim Jung Un in Singapore. Eagles then said they would send, 2 players, owners AND mascot.

    “Not gonna happen folks”

I bet the 2 the Eagles would have sent would be fist pumping and kneeling the whole time. When PDJT returns from Singapore he should invite the National Cow Chip Throwing Championship Team to the WH. Leave the mascot home.

The NBA has a 35 year old rule that says players must stand for the anthem. Larry Obrien was the instigator. Kerr, Popovich, van Gundy and James have never heard of it apparently.

The NFL “players” don’t get it. The President didn’t start this mess. Those of us who have earned your rights find the protest of NFL players unacceptable. We stand to acknowledge the sacrifices and service of our military, police officers, first responders and their families to make America a better place. . It’s simple: You Don’t Stand….We don’t attend or watch.
